Israel Hands was one of my favorite characters. Just for the fact that he was like the only man who had zero ulterior motives was faithful to the very end and had no real goal for himself. The only thing he did after meeting Silver was to follow him completely and help try and guide him if he ever needed it. Love that he gets so angry any time Sliver is doubting himself or what to do. And that is because the only other person he followed was Teach which fucked him over on his own accord. He probably swore to himself and thought that he would for sure never follow another man. But now that he has again he gets very upset they ever seem like they aren't fit to lead or for him to follow. Most every other pirate on the Island if they were in Hands position they 100% would have used it as leverage to gain something for themselves. But not Israel he's completely loyal and even if given the chance would never do anything that would negatively effect Silver.
Well, it's not the first time Spain raided Nassau. I don't know what their reasons were the last time, but the Urca gold is enough reason for them to attack Nassau again.
@@eskayh7734 Shocked that at least one of them thinks they betrayed Billy for no reason just because the Spanish are coming. Umm pretty sure not having to fight as far as they know Woods Rogers forces as well as the freed slave army at the same time is a pretty damn big reason. Not to mention it's Sliver's call if he just let Billy kill Flint then Madi would have left him and he would have then had to deal with fighting against her as she would be on the opposite side at that point. As far as Sliver knows if they don't take care of Billy then all is lost the war as well as the thing he cares more about Madi. Hell even with throwing in the Spanish if they knew the Spanish were coming it still wouldn't change much of anything. All it would change is maybe Billy wouldn't try and kill Flint here and now. Yet that isn't even a given since Billy doesn't need Flint he just needs Sliver as Flints men or as loyal to Sliver as they are Flint. Plus from Slivers POV. Even if he knew about the Spanish it wouldn't change the fact that if he didn't hand over Billy then they would have to fight on two different fronts against the Spanish and the freed slaves. And that they need that army to help them in the coming war and handing over Billy is the only way to gain them as an ally.
I don't know if anyone else said it or not but the original Starz cut didn’t have them. On Hulu, they’re added in to insert ads for people who don't pay not to have ads
I find it really funny that the only time Billy was right and Flint was wrong, Billy got fucked over real hard. Fun fact: episode 3x5 is the episode where Flint convinced the maroons to join his war, and 4x5 is where Woodes Rogers convinced Spain to join him. It really suggests that Rogers is a formidable opponent who posses persuasion skills near Flint's level.
i didn't notice madiscott's eyeroll but yeah that hesitation to answer was reasonable she has so many lives she's responsible for yeah it always felt like eleanorguthrie feels kingscott owed her in some way and whenever he had his own agency/acted with some agency she got indignant and felt it like a personal betrayal because she felt entitled to his allegiance/obedience lol that look johnsilver sent to israelhands was great
26:21 I would argue that Marketa makes this exact point from the opposite perspective in the final episode when another character decides for someone else what sort of life they should lead. Eleanor may have secured a future but it comes at the cost of Woodes Rodgers' governorship. His career prospects would be dim after a catastrophic failure of giving up Nassau to pirates. Assuming they kept the gold instead of handing it over to Spain, it likely would pay off all his debts but he would essentially be remembered as the man who failed and thus would be pariah back home in London. I do agree that what Woodes Rodgers ultimately chose to do by inviting the Spanish invading force is an extreme knee-jerk reaction that only ends up making matters worse.
Not sure if that is the case. I'm Sure plenty of them understand him but they don't care what his character is or his motivations. They were done with him as soon as he went out on his own at the worst possible time. Which resulted in women and children having brutal things done to them all because of it. It's easy to understand why he does what he does. But it's hard to forgive him or not question the fact that their could have been any other time for him to do such a thing that wasn't then. You can understand why a character does something and think it's completely justifiable was to why he did. But still dislike him for making such a choice. Not to mention pretty sure if he was faced with the same situation and had to hand over Silver to the slaves. So that they didn't have to fight a war on two fronts against the freed slaves and Woods Rogers that they would for sure lose. And so that he could possibly get a massive number of new soldiers to help with the cause.
Plus one of them was completely wrong by saying they killed Billy for no reason. Yea they didn't kill him but he doesn't know that yet. But he isn't thinking about how much more they have to gain from doing what they did. For one Sliver at that time had no clue the Spanish were coming. So his two options were one stay friends with Billy. While also allowing Flint to be killed and then him not only losing Madi but now having to be on the opposite side as her fighting against her. Or Betray him and gain a massive army as an ally. So even if he did know the Spanish were coming his only real option would have been to Betray Billy as no way they stand any chance at all against Woods Rogers and the Spanish with their forces alone. They barely even stood a chance against Rogers without the freed slaves.
What are these fade outs that look like it's cutting to commercials? They mentioned this a bunch of times. I watched the show on Netflix and prime video and they don't have anything like that. Is it a hulu thing?
The Spanish fleet sailed out of Havana, which isn't far from Nassau.
Chris and Marketta look like they're on a Skype call with the best day care specialist for their future child

After what Billy did and what he caused to happen to the slaves on the plantations I was done with him.
Period. Silver showed him the mercy no one else would have.

18:00 how close are they to Spain? lol really.... Spain owned half of the southern parts of the carribean and Cuba just a few days of sailing away
Spain literally owned the Caribbean, just Nassau and a few islands were under other colonial powers

Você sabia que o Navios Negros (Black Sails) foi filmado na Cidade do Cabo, na África do Sul?
Still going strong I see
Sugestion: replace Navios Negros with Velas Negras. It's a better translation and it was the title used in Portugal.
Spain is coming. ;)

Maybe Hulu got theirs directly from Starz which has ad breaks.
The bottom tier of Hulu has ad breaks.
