I'm a reggae fan from I was a child, seen many jamaican reggae stars live, but deep purple is the one band outside of the reggae world that I really love.
the guitar dude in the pilgrim hat is the legendary RITCHIE BLACKMORE. he is on the mt. rushmore of guitar gods of metal and rock - simply one of the best ever.
Yes got the original and remastered of Made in Japan play it on Yamaha 130watt Amp Cambridge Floor standing speakers and powered 170watt sub woofer so it’s loud like it would have been back in 1973 . Bands were much louder back then as no decibel limits then at live venues . Seen DP live lots starting back in 1973
Listen to "No One Came" by Deep Purple's 1971 album Fireball. It's a really funky song - the singer Ian Gillan is talking / rapping instead of singing. Very good keyboard solo in that one too.
DEEP PURPLE is a live band, try to look for the live versions of these songs. BURN, STRANGE KIND OF WOMAN, SPEED KING, LAZY, and SPACE TRUCKIN', you'll be amazed. Maestro JON LORD (r.i.p. 2012) was on the keyboards, he was a Grand Master composer. He wrote the CONCERTO FOR GROUP AND ORCHESTRA in 1969, premiered in september of the same year, 55 years ago, and it was a great success, the first time classical music was mixed with rock music. Performed by Deep Purple and the ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA, conducted by, 1957 Oscar winner, Malcolm Arnold, at the ROYAL ALBERT HALL. They released an album with the recording of that night. Also a video you can watch on the web. JON LORD was a classical and rock composer. The other members in that 1972 recording were known as the Mark II line-up of the band, with RITCHIE BLACKMORE on guitar, IAN GILLAN on the voice, ROGER GLOVER on bass, and IAN PAICE on drums. Thank you for your reaction.
As others have said probably the top keyboard players of the time was Jhon Lord Deep Purple, Rick Wakeman YES, and Keith Emerson ELP (Emerson Lake & Palmer) all three had different styles and had classical training and or influence.
Back in the 70s when they played this live they used to lower a large disco ball into the venue and shine a white spotlight non it , used to look like you amongst the stars
And the winner in the "Song Most Likely To Be Played While Getting A Speeding Ticket" is "Highway Star" by Deep Purple, beating out "Headlong" by Queen, "Hocus Pocus" by Focus, and "Adrenaline" by Shinedown.
6:20-Both keyboardist and guitarists played stuff that reminded you of driving..You can see the telephone poles passing like blurs because of the speed, the engine roaring, horns, tires screeching, etc. Just A+ examples of how to play for effect. Ahhh, the thousands of speeding tickets this song's probably got drivers! ( Including 2 of my High School buddies back then ) Great seeing you have so much fun jamming on it!
OH BABY jump into the DEEP end of our rockin 70s and you had to get your ass in line early for a ticket or see the "SOLD OUT" sign in the window. "Highway Star" began every rockers road trip/vacation jam and the next on your list young lady should be "Space Truckin" I`ll let your imagination run wild and until then.... Keep on Rockin & Giddyup MY FAVORITY ISLAND GIRL
Actually there is no original music video. The b/w scenes are from a concert in Denmark March 1972, released ifirst in 1987, while the colour footage is from a TV show in Germany September 1971
this song is about a car but he compares it and the shape and speed and frame to a girl and his mind - he will " drive " both fast and hard - and no one will take it from him - the next deep purple song should be LAZY from machine head 1972 - jon lord = keyboards - the best keyboardist of all time in my opinion - my favourite quote by jon lord = " the sound of deep purple has alot to do with my organ " hahahahha
WOW WOW WOOOWWWW…!!! I DONT KNOW WHAT I LUV MORE …. THIS SONG OR UR PASSION FOR THIS SONG. YOU ROCK GIRL.. !! 👏 N YES THERE ARE A LOT MORE GREAT BANDS, WITH INCREDIBLE MUSIC. HAVE YOU HEARD PINK FLOYD OR BLACK SABBATH..? THEY ARE A MUST. ROCK ON 👊🖖
you don't make it easy for her to choose the songs when you write everything all blurred together. "Space truckin'", "Lazy", "Woman from Tokyo", "Knocking at your back door", "Perfect strangers". As you say, the list can go for days, and it should :)
The holy Trinity of British founders of Heavy Metal Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Led Zeppelin they 1970 when I was 8 saved me from wussy flower power hippie music pop rock I'd have grown into a feminine little bitch boy punk otherwise all ways pleasant to see your beautiful face
This is not the live version of Highway Star it's the studio version from Machine Head there must be a dozen live versions that can be found from different concerts I have never heard a bad version of this song but they are all a little different.
