Thanks again Travis and Suzi for a great reaction. As was brought out Blackmore is a great guitarist. Other guitarists over the years have been Tommy Bolin, Joe Satriani, Steve Morse, and now Simon McBride. All good but my two favorites are Ritchie Blackmore and Steve Morse. Thanks again. Deep Purple has always had really good musicians and singers. I play a mean air guitar. 🤣🤣🤣
When guitarist Ritchie Blackmore was ON... no one could touch him 🤘🤘However, whenever he was irritated or in a bad mood, he was a disaster... "The Battle Rages on" was definitely at his 'A' game... Sadly, it did not last... Blackmore called this record "the cattle grazes on"... Deep Purple fired singer Ian Gillan in 1989 and Blackmore replaced him w/ former Rainbow vocalist Joe Lynn Turner on their 1990 album 'Slaves and masters'... But record sales were disappointing and the other Deep Purple members felt that Turner was not the right singer for the band... In 1992, Turner was given the axe and Jon Lord (keyboards), Roger Glover (bass) and Ian Paice (drums) wanted vocalist Ian Gillan back in the band to celebrate Deep Purple's upcoming 25th anniversary w/ an album and tour. Management allegedly asked Ritchie Blackmore how much money he would want to have Ian Gillan back in the band... and they reportedly paid off the volatile guitarist a massive $um of money... However, as Deep Purple worked on the album 'The battle rages on'... Blackmore was not happy w/ the tracks on the record (The other members felt it was their strongest album in years) and the divide between Blackmore and the rest of Deep Purple only grew to cosmic proportions, especially as the band launched their 25th anniversary tour in 1993. If u watch the Deep Purple concert video 'Come hell or high water' (filmed in 1993), the opening song was 'Highway Star'... and the band emerged on stage playing it without guitars... Only when the time came for the lead solo did Ritchie Blackmore appear onstage but it wasn't over... Apparently, Blackmore was set off by a cameraman filming the show standing where he didn't want him to be and refused to go onstage until he moved... And even after that, Blackmore was seen angrily walking to the cameraman during 'Highway Star' and dousing him w/ water... During interviews, the members of Deep Purple recalled the show and were less than pleased w/ Blackmore's antics... Jon Lord admitted that he had to work extra hard to get Blackmore to engage w/ the band because he didn't seem inclined to play guitar all night. In late 1993, Ritchie Blackmore announced that he would not complete the 25th anniversary tour and left Deep Purple for the final time... the band enlisted guitarist Joe Satriani to fulfill a tour of Japan... In 1994, the prospect of replacing Ritchie Blackmore came up and former Kansas/ Dixie Dregs guitarist Steve Morse was at the top of the list and joined Deep Purple until 2022. Vocalist Ian Gillan did not try to sell BS... he said that Blackmore's antics were killing Deep Purple's popularity and shows were not selling out because fans were not impressed w/ them anymore... But after Steve Morse joined, Deep Purple stabilized... sounded better live... enjoyed going out on tour again... and slowly, the band saw their concert crowds become huge again on tour.
Joe Lynn Turner sang on the last album, but wasn't accepted very well by fans. The record company wanted Gillan back for this album because it was the anniversary for Purple. Blackmore had most of the songs written when Gillan came back. Turner wasn't happy about being let go and he called this song, the cattle rages on. More Purple please. Peace
this is the Mark 2 lineup of D Purple (the most famous lineup of the many lineups of Purple). After falling apart in the 70's this lineup first reunited in 1984 for the Perfect Strangers album (excellent) which was a big success (Platinum). They made it a few more years in the 80's and another album but fell out again. Then after Purple recruited Joe Lynn Turner on vocals and released an album that bombed they tried reuniting the Mark 2 lineup one last time in the 90's which became this album - The Battle Rages On. I remember when it was released. It didn't sell well (Grunge was in full swing), and shortly after Blackmore was gone and the Mark 2 lineup have never again reunited. Purple's history is long and very complicated, but the Mark 2 lineup is the most cherished and influential of all their lineups. Also the biggest selling as well.
Good to see a reaction to one of Purple's lesser known classics, from a badly underrated album. This band get way too little credit for an astonishing back catalogue and a massive level of influence on hard rock.
I still don't know why nobody requests songs from the album ' Come Taste The Band ', when Ritchie Blackmore left the first time and the great Tommy Bolin took over on lead guitar!!
It has a very neache fanbase. Mk4 deep purple was a victim of turbolent times, not good com. succes as the previous ones and it is brutally underrated for that reason
And they are supposed to be the same? You can say that about everything: DP with Gillan is not the same as with Evans, DP with Coverdale is completely different than with Gillan, DP of the 70s is very different from DP of the 80s even with Blackmore and Gillan, etc.
the last decent purple album cant listen to the tripe after ritchie left then jon lord wasnt the band i loved from the first time i heard in the 60s paice lord blackmore were the heart and soul of the band just the gillan band now
The great Mr. Blackmore.☝️☝️☝️👌👌
Merci Mr Ritchie Blackmore un géant de la guitare monstrueux 🎤🎤🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸💥💥💥💥👏👏👏👏
Killer Riff in the Outro
RITCHIE BLACKMORE!
The drumming in the outro is fantastic. Paiceys feet is incredible. 😊

One of my fav from Deep Purple ❤

I never listened to that album, got kicked in the stomach with that song, very good indeed, thx, got to check the whole album.
AMAZING ÁLBUM!!!

The Cattle Grazes On - and it wasn't Turner who said that, but Blackmore, and he also suggested calling the album "Nasty Piece of Work" ☺.
Amó deep purple 💜 geniossss!!!

Great song. The Battle Rages On is a good album, maybe it's their most underrated record
Great song❤
Banging as usual from Deep Purple 😊
The final Deep Purple album with Ritchie Blackmore on Guitar. Then the Great Steve Morse for the next 28 years on Guitar.
Good to see a reaction to one of Purple's lesser known classics, from a badly underrated album.
This band get way too little credit for an astonishing back catalogue and a massive level of influence on hard rock.
PARA MI LA DISCOGRAFÍA DE PURPLE ESTÁ EN EL TOP FIVE 💜💜💜🔥🔥🔥🎸🎸🎸🎸
Great choice.
From my favorite DP album.
I still don't know why nobody requests songs from the album ' Come Taste The Band ', when Ritchie Blackmore left the first time and the great Tommy Bolin took over on lead guitar!!

Please react to Vavoom:Ted The Mechanic (make sure it's the studio original from their Purpendicular album) by Deep Purple, great heavy song.
@@ronnienose8608 Whata guy
This is a badass cd, just as good as the perfect strangers cd speaking of their later work with the original lineup.
For me, Deep Purple without Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord is not the same thing.
And they are supposed to be the same? You can say that about everything: DP with Gillan is not the same as with Evans, DP with Coverdale is completely different than with Gillan, DP of the 70s is very different from DP of the 80s even with Blackmore and Gillan, etc.
Obviously. But for me, it's not important
Only without Lord it's not the same😊
Bla bla bla
Amazing! This song is definitely a fav from them! Check out "Mistreated" Live at Cal Jam 74
There is a great live version of this song from Come Hell or High Water dvd.
They singing bout sum wild stuff 🤣
They sing about the war in Yugoslavia and the lyrics are just great.
the last decent purple album cant listen to the tripe after ritchie left then jon lord wasnt the band i loved from the first time i heard in the 60s paice lord blackmore were the heart and soul of the band just the gillan band now
Que temazo!
And that’s why Blackmore will always be above all of them
👏👏👏
Check out "A Time to Kill" from the same album.
Last shot by Ritchie
React to "Anya" off the same album.
Strongly and Highly recommend a reaction to 'The Electric Leader of the Pack'
React to the live version of 1993
Good choice, but listen to Anja from the same album.
A much maligned album by purple..but it is in my top 5 of all there albums.
The end of Deep Purple, their final great album with Ritchie Blackmore. The Steve Morse era was bad. Their new album from 2024 is OK though.
The Steve Morse era was great, although you may not have personally liked it, no one and nothing is obligated to please everyone.
Steve Morse gave the Band a new direction. I love this time with Steve.
The only good song on the album !
@rockroll575 Mad Dog, Black and White, Unwritten Law, Nasty Piece of Work, Ramshackle Man, One Man's Meat "is another man's aching butt" lol
