So glad that you're having a break, you deserve it!! My Norweigian grandma always had dumpling soup warm on the stove whenever my family got to her house in North Dakota after a 10 hour drive! Dumpling soup is truly a classic comfort food to me.
Isn't there a vegan sushi restaurant in TO or Vancouver or something... I think I saw a video with "Viet Vegan" or something like that. The salmon looks real, but the texture looked a bit off!
YAY!!! I'M SO HAPPY YOU FINISHED THE COOK BOOK!!! You both definitely deserve a vacation! I hope you enjoy the time off and get refreshed and relaxed! love you!
SO happy for you guys! Yay, cookbook! TOTALLY looking forward to the *minute* I can add it to my epic collection! That said, enjoy your well-deserved break, but know you will be missed! I guess I'll have to binge-watch the channel to get my fix, until y'all are back! Love, from Kansas!!!
loved both recipes ! I've just arrived to Mongolia last month and dumpling soups are everywhere here ! I guess the cold climate + not much of variety of fresh veggies is a perfect combination for some dumplngs in your soup ! loved it
YAS Lauren you totally deserve a break!!! You are so hard working and you consistently come out with new and creative content every week. I don't know how you do it haha. Definitely going to miss you guys but it'll be something to look forward to :). P.s. These soups look amazing ❤
Lexus Jacobs You are me during the summer; i crave hot food or should i say hot for food all the time!👈 (lame pun) but drink/eat cold drinks, ice cream, etc. when it's freezing outside. 😅
Good on you guys for taking the break, I was honestly hoping you would!! I appreciate seeing your videos every week but I often put myself into your shoes thinking, wow they work non stop especially with the cookbook and just being present on social media... well best of luck and enjoy your vacation
Congratulations on finishing the cookbook! You absolutely deserve a break. I hope you enjoy your trip and time off together. ps. This is the first challenge where I absolutely cannot pick a winner. I love soup and I can't wait to make both of these!
maybe I can catch up with all the recipes I want to try from hotforfood while you guys are on a break haha I am gonna miss your videos though. have a nice trip
I relate for real!!! fellow Canadian who loooooves your videos, and looooves Toronto! not a fan of winter either ;) but spring is around the corner! haha i appreciate and look forward to your videos Lauren and Jon! :)
Two of the most impressionable (?) soups! I had a very similar mind blowing restaurant experience with the yellow curry soup and my mom only made dumpling soup once but I have a very vivid memory of that yummy dish! Enjoy your much deserved break!
I'm seriously dreading this time we won't have without you guys, I always look forward to videos every Wednesday. But I'm so excited for you that you get to take a nice break, you've been working so hard and we appreciate it so much! Thank you for everything that you do and enjoy your time off! 😊💜
I am a new subscriber and I love how you guys actually EAT the food, not just one or two bites with the typical "Yummm, so good. You gotta try this." I am fond soup already so to see John's way of soup just had my mouth water. It would be new for me to try and make a soup that out there and different.
Not gona lie, I'm sad there will be no more awesome videos for a few weeks.. but you guys definitely deserve time off. You work so hard and you inspire people like me to make vegan goodness and using up what's left over in the fridge :) ...P.S. Visit Vancouver.. again.. we have lots of vegan restaurants here.. and hff fans!
I love this recipe it! It made me want to create my own! inevitableanthropology.wordpress.com/2016/07/31/qunioa-lentil-vegetable-soup-vegan-gluten-free-recipe/
John sold me with the rice noodles and curry flavor! But I loooove dumplings and all those vegetables made me feel healthy just by watching. The results are gonna be interesting!
I love you guys and I'm sad for my own selfish reasons you are taking a break, but I'm going on holiday too so I don't blame you haha! Enjoy the break you both deserve it and it's so awesome you finished your cook book!! See you back in a few weeks feeling fresh and ready to smash out some new content! Love from New Zealand xxx
thanks Hayley! I know we just HAD to do it and not worry about how the channel will prob be stagnant for a month haha. self care is important. Enjoy your break too xo
I knew which soup I wanted to vote for ever since I saw your Instagram story yesterday... I just needed to know who made it lol. Sorry Lauren, curry has my heart 💚😂
I can't wait to make dumpling soup!! I love both of these but I feel like the dumpling soup is taking it old school comfort food style! Glad you're taking some time for yourselves, hope you go on a fun vacation. I so look forward to getting my notifications on Wednesdays when you post new videos but waiting a couple weeks will just make it better. All the best Lauren!! Congrats on the cook book! Can't wait to buy it.
Dumpling soup is big here in Pennsylvania (chicken and dumplings, chicken corn soup with rivels, etc). I think I'm going to take what you did Lauren and mesh it with your other chicken noodle soup recipe. Hell, I might even even throw in a can of coconut milk if I'm feeling saucy and make a bastardized version of Olive Gardens Chicken Gnocchi Soup.
Our new soup obsession is to put veggie dumplings into clear broth and it's so delicious! John's curry is similar to the Thai curry noodles that uses yellow noodles instead, called Kao Soi (a signature dish of Chiang Mai).
at first i was super bummed bc no new videos but once you said you finished your cookbook i got really happy for you i know how hard you've worked on it lauren!!! Cant wait for yall to return!!!
Enjoy your time off! It is well deserved 💕 when you guys come back - can you do a Vegan Toddler Food challenge? Recipes that are fun and kid friendly? I can lend you my toddler for the taste tests 😝
These both look delicious!! Can't wait to try out the recipes! Thank you for such amazing content every week, enjoy your vacay! You've earned it! can't wait to buy your cookbook
Excited to try these! Things for the future: dipping sauces (i.e. pizza dipping). Creamy garlic dipping sauce, cheddar jalapeno, peppercorn ranch. More quick and easy tofu recipes are always welcome. Also - my dad makes a wicked Korean flank steak recipe and right now I've been adapting it with a portobello mushroom but it doesn't quite have the same consistency/texture and I'd be interested to know what else could be a decent substitute.
You said on your insta story that you were running out of recipe ideas that weren't already in the cookbook, could you (if you don't already have them in the book) make Jewish vegan food? Like stuffed cabbage, matzo ball soup, knishes, ect?
Oh! I make a stuffed cabbage recipe! Not sure if it's close to the Jewish version as mine is the polish golabki (sp?) you prepare it like all other cabbage rolls but my filling is rice, black beans, the morning star ground crumbles, paprika, cumin, pepper, salt and then of course you fill the pan with a couple cans of tomatoes. Soooo good. And you freeze them and eat for a month lol. Also, hhf is such an inspiration to just trying to make things vegan lol
1.) Both of those soups look BOMBBB! 2.) Enjoy your much deserved time off together!! Love you guyyyssss!! Thank you for always inspiring me to cook outside of the box 😁
Pretty much every vegan channel does 10,000 different curries. It feels like whenever you need a recipe for a channel, you make a curry, not to mention that is the main thing vegans eat when they go out and they don't want salad.
Totally going to make both this week! I have been on a huge soup kick lately creating recipes. Yesterday I made a vegan broccoli cheddar soup that came out amazing! I am going to make Lauren's tomorrow for sure because I always have those things on hand, I almost never have curry so I need to do some shopping before making johns but it looks sooooooo amazing! Can't wait to get the cookbook when it's out!
Glad to hear you are taking a break! Well deserved! You both seem to work very hard and should absolutely take the time to recharge. Lauren, congrats on finishing your book. For someone who was unsure about doing it you certainly got it done! You must be pleased as well as relieved that it is complete. Not sure whether another comment covered this but I have reason to believe John is right aboot dumplings being from an impoverished place. My grandmother and mother made chicken and dumplings all the time. My grandmother was of polish origin, with her parents having been first generation Americans. I have been contemplating making a vegan version for a few weeks but had not yet sat down to sort out the changes when I saw this video. Than-q for doing the work for me, as you so often do!My beloved continues to ask for chicken noodle soup on a weekly basis! Being disabled and having difficulty prepping and cooking much of the time I feel totally confident in using your ideas as I know I will always have incredible results. I thank you as do my hands, arm, neck and back!Take all the time you need to restore and refresh, as if you needed anyone's permission to do so!Take gentle loving care of yourself and each other! With peace, gratitude and grace XO
Laurens soup is so German :D I live in Germany and we eat that soup quite often. We usually don't add the dumplings though. But my grandma actually does from time to time :)
Have a good, well-deserved, trip/vacation/staycation, whatevs. Looking forward to next week's video and future videos after you are back! And, congratulations on the cookbook. I can't wait for it to come out. We have a cookbook book-club at work and your book will be my choice for us to cook from once I get it!!
I hope you have a fantastic break! :) congratulations for finishing your cook book! I hope it makes its way to Australia!! definitely something I'm looking forward to purchase! 💓💓
I hate curry and chicken and dumplings was my FAVORITE (aside from clam chowder) when I was a child lol thank you for taking a break and thank you for taking care of yourselves so that you can pour out more of you to us!! definitely gonna binge watch the old episodes lol
congrats you guys on 300k!!!I am so happy for you and wish you get more and more successful and that people see how awesome and inovative and passionate you are, plus cooking the most delicious food.Thank you and wish you all the best, greetings from Romania😱😍I don't know why but I feel the need to congratulate Snickles too, cause he has his appeareance too in some of the videos😹
Great vid, as usual guys! Enjoy your well-deserved break! It's pretty incredible that you've juggled Hot For Food, Lauren In Real Life, and written a cookbook Lauren. And all at such a high production standard. Go girl!
Ohmahgah I made the curry soup and John wins so hard. This is amazing. It's snowing like crazy today (isn't it supposed to be Spring?!) and this warmed me through to my soul. Thanks, y'all!
Crap! I get so excited on Wednesdays for these episodes...I probably will end up binge watching...Lol Have a fantastic break!! Very well deserved! You guys are awesome 😊
OH MY LORD THESE SOUPS thanks for the inspo, i'm definitely making these sometime soon (before it gets too hot in Europe and i won't be craving soup like crazy) i'm a little sad that i won't be so excited on wednesdays without new videos, but you definitely deserve some rest and congrats on the book! I cannot wait to get my hands on it :)
You guys have done a fantastic job with your channel and I cant wait to see your cookbook and all the hard work you have put into it! You are human at the end of the day and need to recharge like everyone else. Enjoy your hard earned break! Cant wait to see what you come up with next! :) ✌
I made Lauren's soup today and it was honestly the most delicious soup I've ever had in my life. and the kale was a PERFECT addition. thank you Lauren!
My mum makes a spinach soup that is everyone in the family's favourite. It's actually more a spinach stew - ridiculous amounts of frozen spinach, the sauce is tomatoes and a blend of herbs, lemon juice, and then she adds these delicious dumplings that she makes with vegetable suet (always has been an accidentally vegan meal). If you guys can get vegetable suet where you are, I'd highly recommend it for dumplings. They are fluffy, dense and with a bit of chew.
[That red is a fantastic color on you, Lauren!] These both look like phenomenal soups to eat, and a cinch to make when one is bone cold and just needs a quick, hot, nourishing meal. I know these challenges are getting more elite because, once again, I am having a hard time choosing! TFP and have a pleasant Springtime: )
It's great for you guys to take a vacation you deserve it. I hope you enjoy it and have some fun!! meanwhile I don't mind binge watching old episodes lol
Can you make some recipes using artichokes? I always have SO MANY EXTRAS because my family uses the juice for things but there really isn't any recipes with artichokes on the internet besides spinach and artichoke. Very over played.
Emily Lowe my roommate makes this "salad" with artichokes, tomatoes, chickpeas, feta cheese (I know not vegan), and lemon juice which she really likes. I haven't tried it, but thought I could make the suggestion since she makes it all the time!
Was almost expecting John to make something like.... vegan mac and cheese bacon pizza soup
bahaaa
hot for food
HEY COULD YOU GUYS MAKE A VIDEO ON HOW TO MAKE A VEGAN HONEY BUN! PLEASE THERE'S NO VIDEO OR ANY RECIPE LIKE THAT FOR A VEGAN VERSION

So glad that you're having a break, you deserve it!! My Norweigian grandma always had dumpling soup warm on the stove whenever my family got to her house in North Dakota after a 10 hour drive! Dumpling soup is truly a classic comfort food to me.
Would you two consider a vegan sushi challenge!?
Isn't there a vegan sushi restaurant in TO or Vancouver or something... I think I saw a video with "Viet Vegan" or something like that. The salmon looks real, but the texture looked a bit off!
Amanda Arruda yesssss

SO happy for you guys! Yay, cookbook! TOTALLY looking forward to the *minute* I can add it to my epic collection! That said, enjoy your well-deserved break, but know you will be missed! I guess I'll have to binge-watch the channel to get my fix, until y'all are back! Love, from Kansas!!!
Oh...and binge-cooking. Duh.
awww thanks LOVE xo
The dumpling soup is so Polish! I like that you added herbs to the dough Lauren :)
martynagx or German. My Oma makes it all the time. But then, Polish and German kitchen is often very similar ☺
Oh, and didn't know that! But that's true, we share lots of similar foods :)

Dasagood idea
PB&J is just perfect! BTW the other day I read that most NBA teams have them before games. So don't feel bad about eating them!😁
Checkout the Vegan Song I just uploaded called Vegan Batman 💚
Frozen bananas, a scoop of PB and Maple syrup on a processor food and you get pb ice cream :D
OMG that would be incredible!!

Lexus Jacobs You are me during the summer; i crave hot food or should i say hot for food all the time!👈 (lame pun) but drink/eat cold drinks, ice cream, etc. when it's freezing outside. 😅
Jenny Gonzalez literally same! There's something beautiful about eating ice cream when it's freezing outside lmao

New hot for food video? *clicks like button before even watching*
Two of the most impressionable (?) soups! I had a very similar mind blowing restaurant experience with the yellow curry soup and my mom only made dumpling soup once but I have a very vivid memory of that yummy dish! Enjoy your much deserved break!
Congratulations on finishing the cookbook! You guys really deserve the break.
I'm seriously dreading this time we won't have without you guys, I always look forward to videos every Wednesday. But I'm so excited for you that you get to take a nice break, you've been working so hard and we appreciate it so much! Thank you for everything that you do and enjoy your time off! 😊💜
Lauren's vegetable dumpling soup better win because I love dumpling soup!
I am a new subscriber and I love how you guys actually EAT the food, not just one or two bites with the typical "Yummm, so good. You gotta try this." Have a great break!! You've definitely earned it. I'm really excited that the cookbook is finished. Can't wait to buy it when it's out.
I knew which soup I wanted to vote for ever since I saw your Instagram story yesterday... I just needed to know who made it lol. Sorry Lauren, curry has my heart 💚😂
Haha! Right?! ❤️ curry.
Party Hard Potato SAME! I can't believe John's soup isn't more popular. It looks so good!
Hell, I might even even throw in a can of coconut milk if I'm feeling saucy and make a bastardized version of Olive Gardens Chicken Gnocchi Soup.
olive garden rules :D
I'm kinda stuck with minestrone when I go there, but it's not a huge sacrifice haha
I'm from PA also, and LOVE the look of this dumpling soup. And I was also like mmmm chicken and gnocchi soup!!!
This was great! Thank you both for all the videos. They both looked amazing! I made the dumpling soup tonight!
Brooke Ashley and Baby! Good idea!
Oh she glows has lost of recipes that are toddler approved, she has a 3 yr old? (i think)
llamas familia
Brooke Ashley and Baby! Would love this! Like a sneaky vegetable type kid friendly meal
Brooke Ashley and Baby! yes!! great idea!!! I agree! lol
These both looked amazing! I was looking for both types of soups ironically! Thank you! I will write reviews on the blog when I make them!
Just like everyone else who works and takes holidays, so no complaints here. Enjoy your break x
These both look delicious!! Can't wait to try out the recipes! Thank you for such amazing content every week, enjoy your vacay! You've earned it! can't wait to buy your cookbook

Congrats on finishing your cookbook!! Excited to get a copy when it's out. Enjoy your vacay!!!
Gonna make Laurens soup right now :D It's snow here I Norway so I'm totally feeling the warm soup addiction ;)
Just an update, the soup from Lauren was amazing! :D I added som mushrooms to it. Haven't tried the other one yet.
@@kimandreasheroy Great idea! I love mushroom broth.
You guys deserve this break! No only for your channel but for the two of you in general. Enjoy your trip!!!
Oh man, this one is tough! I LOVE coconut curry... but I also LOVE dumpling soup and this is the first time I've seen it made after becoming vegan.
I'll miss y'all on the break, but it is well deserved!! I'll just have to watch all your old videos again for the 68th time lol!
you guys deserve the break BUT AHHHH I WILL MISS THE VIDS
Also take a break we love u guys take care of yourself!!! Now I have an excuse to open my untouched cookbooks :))
MATZO BALL SOUP! YES PLEASE!
I've been craving Laksa for weeks now! Perfect timing. Thank you guys! Enjoy your break :)
When Lauren added the potatoes 👀🤤
1.) Both of those soups look BOMBBB!
2.) Enjoy your much deserved time off together!! Love you guyyyssss!! Thank you for always inspiring me to cook outside of the box 😁
I think the real winner would be a hybrid of these soups.
Yes! Take that well deserved break, you need it! You've put so much into this cookbook, I wan't wait to see the finished product! :)
NOTIF SQUAD WHERE U AT
i'll miss you guys!!! but that gives me some time to try out all your current recipes and you deserve the break!
LAUREN'S HAS POTATOES AND DOUGH HOW CAN SHE NOT WIN
Because this is a vegan channel, therefor curry is king.
Mackenzie McGowan don't understand that connection, but mazel tov!
*not Jewish*
Pretty much every vegan channel does 10,000 different curries. It feels like whenever you need a recipe for a channel, you make a curry, not to mention that is the main thing vegans eat when they go out and they don't want salad.
Totally going to make both this week! I have been on a huge soup kick lately creating recipes. Yesterday I made a vegan broccoli cheddar soup that came out amazing! Looks like this was their parting. Not the same but wish them both the very best.
Are they not together now?
the blue velvet River broke up
Both soups are totally delicious! It was hard to make a choice...
Have a nice break! You earned it.
You will be greatly missed, Wednesday won't be the same but I look forward to an EPIC return!!! Enjoy your much deserved time off!
Wow you guys always go above and beyond! & your recipes always look freakin incredible I love it❤❤
thank you for watching!
Ok I was expecting the ravioli style of dumpling, I never knew dumplings could be just pieces of dough ^^
OmenaOmega really thats the only dumpling soup I've ever had!
the cheapest can of dough is the best for chicken and dumplings or anything having to with soups
Kind of like matzo ball soup?
Glad to hear you are taking a break! Well deserved! You both seem to work very hard and should absolutely take the time to recharge. Lauren, congrats on finishing your book. Great vid, as usual guys! Enjoy your well-deserved break! It's pretty incredible that you've juggled Hot For Food, Lauren In Real Life, and written a cookbook Lauren. And all at such a high production standard. Go girl!
GUYS FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD. PLEASEEEE MAKE A VEGAN WEDDING SOUP! I MISS THAT ISH SO MUCH! 😭😭
Ohmahgah I made the curry soup and John wins so hard. This is amazing. It's snowing like crazy today (isn't it supposed to be Spring?!) and this warmed me through to my soul. Thanks, y'all!
In Ireland, older generations call Kale "poor mans cabbage". But it's becoming a hipster thing here too!
oh funny! I didn't know anything about kale!
Both look so amazing! Enjoy your break and I can't wait to see the cookbook! I'm so excited to try these soups :D
Lauren's soup looks like a typical german Griesnockerl Soup!!!
Crap! I get so excited on Wednesdays for these episodes...I probably will end up binge watching...Lol Have a fantastic break!! Very well deserved! You guys are awesome 😊
You guys should make a "chicken" pot pie plssss
cookbook :D
OH MY LORD THESE SOUPS
thanks for the inspo, i'm definitely making these sometime soon (before it gets too hot in Europe and i won't be craving soup like crazy)
i'm a little sad that i won't be so excited on wednesdays without new videos, but you definitely deserve some rest and congrats on the book! I cannot wait to get my hands on it :)
I miss your challenge videos 😪
You guys have done a fantastic job with your channel and I cant wait to see your cookbook and all the hard work you have put into it! You are human at the end of the day and need to recharge like everyone else. Enjoy your hard earned break! Cant wait to see what you come up with next! :) ✌
thank you for supporting and we'll be back good as new! xo
making the dumpling soup tonight!!!!
How was it?
I made Lauren's soup today and it was honestly the most delicious soup I've ever had in my life. and the kale was a PERFECT addition. thank you Lauren!
YAAY thank you :D
i'm in ithaca ny so i feel you guys
we love ithaca! we visited when we went to farm sanctuary!
which farm sanctuary?
Alex Durham that's so close to my home town! I'm moving back there next month :)
You're taking a break? Unsubscribed.
Jk. I love your recipes so I'll just make some recipes I haven't made yet!
Wishing you a fabulous well deserved break. If it's ok with you I'm just going to wait here👇🏼 until you get back.... (Sits down, folds arms)
hahah ok byeeeee
It's great for you guys to take a vacation you deserve it. I hope you enjoy it and have some fun!! meanwhile I don't mind binge watching old episodes lol
Can you make some recipes using artichokes? I always have SO MANY EXTRAS because my family uses the juice for things but there really isn't any recipes with artichokes on the internet besides spinach and artichoke. Very over played.
Emily Lowe my roommate makes this "salad" with artichokes, tomatoes, chickpeas, feta cheese (I know not vegan), and lemon juice which she really likes. I haven't tried it, but thought I could make the suggestion since she makes it all the time!
wingedkitsune6 this salad recipe sounds amazing! I'm gonna make it tomorrow but instead of feta I'll use tofu marinated in salt and vinegar!
Emily Lowe check out their vegan crab cake recipe! So good and it's made out of artichokes and other things.
What do y'all do with the juice? i always use the artichokes but have a jar of juice in my fridge..
erinnkrausz Haha you guys can trade :D
Congratulations on finishing the cookbook!!! Can't wait for it to come out. Enjoy you're time off.
