it'd be even better if the ingredients were chosen by viewers somehow. maybe a bunch of suggested ingredients written down and then 5 taken out of a hat or something
Looove you guys!!! I know soups are easy but Maybe do a SOUP CHALLENGE next!!!? I've been dying for a vegan clam chowder or a broccoli and cheese soup. 🍜💞
Fleur Black holy shit I know! I'm waiting and watching her adding the seasons and I kept saying "and my favorite, old baeeeee" so that we would say it at the same time. spoiler: IT DIDN'T HAPPEN : |
I finally tried to make my own version of John's meatball sub tonight. It was absolutely amazing! I rarely comment on youtube videos, but you both have such great videos and recipes. I really loved this and love your spirit. Watching this channel was the final push that helped me become fully vegan a few months ago and I haven't looked back since. Cheers!
Great recipes, what a cool couple of vegan geniuses, tapioca tip for cheese so good to know, I was struggling with that, and Lauren always pulls it together with new innovative ideas. Where's the book u two?????
Hi, new subscriber here. I know which one I Want to vote for because of it's uniqueness but, both have a lot of effort put into them. I will take your advice though and make them first. Thank you! I can't wait! They look so delicious. 👏
Both of these sandwiches look amazing and I'll definitely be making both recipes....meatball subs were a favorite of my kiddos! But I have to say, that oyster po' boy looks LEGIT! You guys are the dopest vegan alchemist and I love it!
I am excited that I found your channel. What you share is inspiring and makes me motivated to cook and try new things. I made the oyster po' boy for my husband last night (he is not a vegan in any way) and he couldn't get enough. They were amazing. Thank you for the time you spend to share.
Honestly, choosing a winner is the bigger challenge! But I'm gonna go with Lauren, your satisfied expressions were very convincing and so is the originality of the dish :D Plus, I love oyster mushrooms! You two are absolutely genius!
I've been vegan for a little over 5 months now and couldn't be happier with the decision for obvious reasons, but your channel has made the whole experience that much better for me! I've found a love for cooking and can't thank you guys enough for your creativeness and encouragement to get in the kitchen :) If you haven't already, you guys should do a vegan soup challenge! It's getting to be that time of year when all I want is soup :)
i used to live in new orleans, and there was a gas station down the street from my house that had po boys and i would go there all the time and get shrimp po boys. i NEED to make lauren's recipe, miss po boys.
Just made Lauren's po boy sandwich.. oh my god. Oh. Oh my god. I make my own non-dairy milk (ayooo college girl lol) I didn't have apple cider vinegar so I just used my vegan sushi vinegar and it amazing. I did add old baeeee to the seasoning and it was to die for. You guys honestly need to try it out for yourself words can not begin to explain how good it is. (Couldn't find a vegan hoagie so I went to a vegan cafe and bought their hoagie rolls lol)
ahh they both look so good! I wish i was there to try them both haha. one of these challenges you guys should try picking out a mystery ingredient for each other & figuring out how to incorporate it into your dishes! or using the same ingredient to create different ones like pumpkin or something for the fall! i think that'd be so interesting to watch yall figure something out!
i normally watch videos on my phone but i always save your videos and (lauren toyota personal) videos for the computer. its so satisfying to watch people you love in a bigger screen. amirite?
Though I don't miss seafood after 22 years of being plant-based, and John's sub looks amazing, Lauren's recipe is very clever, so she's got my vote. Thanks for posting, you two : )
YOU ARE SO CUTE AND OH MY GOD THESE BOTH LOOK SO GOOD I NEED TO MAKE THEM AND PUT THEM IN MY MOUTH. But really. Thank you guys SO much for posting all of your amazing recipes, you've inspired me to make the transition into fully vegan!
I saw this and made it because lucky me had oyster mushrooms. I switched up the sauce a little bit and put on cucumbers. But I died Lauren. And they sent my ghost back to tell you that I died being happy because of that freaking delicious sandwich.
As much as I love crunchy fried foods, I think I have to go with John's! A good marinara sauce sounds amazing right now and I bet the texture of those meatballs is fantastic.
I've never had a mushroom nor an oyster in my freaking life, but this right here makes me wanna run to the supermarket to find these shrooms and make this crunchy soft tender pickled love boat 😍 no offense to the hubs, I'll probably make the meatball sub too but erm, creativity won me over here 🤗
Just made the oyster poboy today. OMG!!!!! I even made one for my 80 year old mom and 85 year dad (neither of whom are vegan) and they loved it too. This is a keeper!!! Thanks Lauren.
For a while I was taking care of kids after school. They absolutely love their snacks called "Ants on a log" - it was celery sticks filled with peanut butter and topped with raisins - great treat, healthy and did not spoil their supper !
I am so excited to finally see a vegetarian/vegan po boy finally!! When I was in college I worked at a seafood place that had such good ones and in the 14 years I've been vegetarian I've never seen a recipe that looked good. This looks tasty! can't wait to try it! Also, I have made John's pretzel bites 3 times since that video was posted. You guys make such addicting food!
I don't think the ingredients look that expensive...Maybe the vital wheat gluten is $2.89. Hmm maybe they can do a budget challenge next time?? $5 limit for ingredients!
I found oyster mushrooms at my farmers market yesterday and made the Po Boy today. It was crazy good! That breading was so much tastier than I expected!!
I made the meatball sub, and it is by far the best sandwich I have had since becoming vegan. So good 😍! I would love to make the mushroom po boy, but my sister hates mushrooms and complains every time I cook them. You guys are amazing!
Can't wait to make these!! Would you please make a pulled jackfruit recipe? I know there are lots of recipes, but I just trust yours and know that it will taste really good.
huch, wo wohnst du denn? Bei mir gibt's ohne ende veganes Fleisch Zeugs. Bei Kaufland, real, biocompany... Selbst bei Aldi gibt's vegane Schnitzel :) #veganpower
We have that in Germany! They sell it at ALDI or LIDL, vegan minced meat. (das veggie Hack bei den 2 Läden ist vegan, ist hald nur nicht gefroren sondern in der Kühltheke).
You guys should try to do a spin off of Chopped! Pick 5 strange ingredients and see who can come up with the best recipe :)
Yes I loved when they used to do a mystery ingredient so I would love to see a twist like you suggested :)
Yes!
THIS!
MY FAVORITE UA-cam COMMENTING ON MY OTHER FAVORITE UA-camRS VIDEO
it'd be even better if the ingredients were chosen by viewers somehow. maybe a bunch of suggested ingredients written down and then 5 taken out of a hat or something
It always cracks me up how gourmet Lauren's dishes are and how John always has just classic bachelor food
WHY DO I ALWAYS WATCH THESE ON AN EMPTY STOMACH
p.s: I was on the toilet
It's better than watch them with an empty wallet!
_"AN EMPTY STOMACH"_
_"I was on the toilet"_
Same.
MORNING POOPS

Soup challenge yes please!
I'm not a huge fan of soups, and even I want to see this.
agreed. I LOOOOVE Clam chowder and Broccoli cheddar soup. my 2 fave soups that I haven't been able to figure out since going vegan a couple months ago
Isa Chandra's glam chowder is amazing.
something fried with tons of mayo always wins in my book lol
saaaame😂 "you vegan only eat grass ugh"
my friend always says I eat "rabbit food"lol
+Grace Mcglinn lol my mother in law calls it diet food
I vote for Lauren's. Johns look really good too! Food network needs you both on their shows and spread the vegan message
:D
sunny lanes Yes, a cooking channel needs to offer them a contract!
Lauren I'm surprised that you dodn't use OldBay seasoning on your mushrooms. :O
I was thinking the same thing!
Fleur Black holy shit I know! I'm waiting and watching her adding the seasons and I kept saying "and my favorite, old baeeeee" so that we would say it at the same time. spoiler: IT DIDN'T HAPPEN : |
i freaking love your guys reaction every time you taste your own food 😂
going with johns.. only bc i hated anything from the ocean before going vegan so if those mushrooms taste like oysters then i'm out lol
I'm gonna go with Johns as a tribute to Joey Tribbiani!
would you risk your life for it? lol
I sure would! I would take a bullet for it
blackVelvet as one should for the greatest sandwich in the world!
Omg yesssss JOEY DOESNT SHARE FOOD
Whahahahaaaa he is so Joey-like!
John say: "How YOU doin'?

"Holy crap i think im over-compensating for something" 😂 i died haha. Love you guys, love this channel! No one ever made vegan food look this good 👏🏽
literally no reason not to go vegan after watching your guys' videos
Hi, new subscriber here. I know which one I Want to vote for because of it's uniqueness but, both have a lot of effort put into them. I will take your advice though and make them first. Thank you! I can't wait! They look so delicious. 👏
welcome to hot for food! Thanks for subbing and watchin
Love the poboy idea, as a Louisianan I was wondering what kind of shrimp substitute I would have. Thanks Lauren and John!
I don't even know who to choose, they both look incredible! 😱
Oh my goodness! This was one of the hardest to vote for! Both looked so yummy! xoxo
i voted john's! i loveeee meatball subs- i would put green peppers and chipotle mayo on it too! or use vegan chorizo in the meat too
I gotta give it to Lauren, super creative! Though I wouldn't turn any of these sandwiches away lol
Wow! BOTH were soooo good but Lauren you had my heart with the oyster mushroom po boy!!!
Both of these sandwiches look amazing and I'll definitely be making both recipes....meatball subs were a favorite of my kiddos! But I have to say, that oyster po' boy looks LEGIT! You guys are the dopest vegan alchemist and I love it!
I vote for Lauren, but they both look amazing
I am excited that I found your channel. What you share is inspiring and makes me motivated to cook and try new things. I made the oyster po' boy for my husband last night (he is not a vegan in any way) and he couldn't get enough. They were amazing. Thank you for the time you spend to share.
I'm only voting for Lauren because she lost last week. Because I honestly couldn't choose.
"that sounds like a mess I would clean up." Haha! Story of my life. Great job you guys! Amazzzzing. Can't wait to make dem balls.
This was awh inspiring! Two amazing samiches.
Honestly, choosing a winner is the bigger challenge! But I'm gonna go with Lauren, your satisfied expressions were very convincing and so is the originality of the dish :D Plus, I love oyster mushrooms! You two are absolutely genius!
Omggggff those both look incredible I couldn't even choose

The food-gasm alone is too much to take. Shopping list created...standby
:D cant wait to hear your results!
What shestudios said! :)
You guys rock. I just started being Vegan 3 months ago and these recipes are some of the best on UA-cam for sure. Keep it up! ✌️
Just made Lauren's po boy sandwich.. oh my god. Oh. Oh my god. I just made a bunch of Po Boys for my family and they were so surprised when I told them it was vegan! my absolute favorite recipe 💕
yaaay!!
YOU ARE SO CUTE AND OH MY GOD THESE BOTH LOOK SO GOOD I NEED TO MAKE THEM AND PUT THEM IN MY MOUTH.

Both looked amazing, id love to eat both of them. Both winners for sure
LOL omg, I never realized it until you guys said it. I'm one of those people!!
Not a vegan but have been loving your videos since last year
Lauren, even though there's pickles
why so many pickle haters... they're the BEST!
i love them too!
I really really wish I could vote for both. They look insanely delicious
DO A HANGOVER FOOD CHALLENGE!!!
I loooove these videos!! 🤗
So original (at least I haven't seen anyone else do this) and so fun to watch! 👌🏼👏🏼
john's meatball sub would've been even better with a bit of pesto or something drizzled on top omg
This challenge was too much to handle. Both sandwiches looked amazing. Can't wait to try them out. 😍
I saw this and made it because lucky me had oyster mushrooms. I switched up the sauce a little bit and put on cucumbers. But I died Lauren. And they sent my ghost back to tell you that I died being happy because of that freaking delicious sandwich.
I love your channel so much!! You rock guys
I choose Laurens recipe just because I love mushrooms! :-) kisses from Greece!!!!
As much as I love crunchy fried foods, I think I have to go with John's! A good marinara sauce sounds amazing right now and I bet the texture of those meatballs is fantastic.

both are great! so difficult to choose! love your videos
Do a lasagna challenge! I think it will be an awesome challenge to do because no one has ever done a super different lasagna ever.
Vegan Lasagna is amazing!!!
I'm a new subscriber and I love how passionate you are about food and how excited you get! You inspire me to try more interesting vegan cooking!
Also I had just moved to the toilet when you said that and I have never felt so known :D
They both look great, but Lauren's is original and can't wait to make it!!!
Man, your videos just get better and better.
Grrrr I can never figure out how to vote on an iPhone! But Lauren has my vote. This one was a tough call though.
If you tap the video screen, there's a little i in the corner
Click it and you can vote!
You click on the upside down exclamation mark on the right.
An upside down exclamation mark is the letter "i".
Haha wow it is. I feel stupid lol
You guys keep outdoing yourselves, both look EPIC. I don't know how you do it =O
Lauren's! It just looks more fluffy and inviting, plus I never really liked meatballs to begin with. Johns does look cool though
This is the first time that I watch a video and I got subscribed immediately... Like a lot the poll interaction and everything looks really yummy.
Have u tried Gardein meatballs? So good
it's so weird how real they taste
I do not agree I hate them
I love those!
I love them...their flavor is so good!
They taste awesome, but way too big for me :p I gotta cut them in at least 4 before eating
Just made the oyster poboy today. OMG!!!!! I even made one for my 80 year old mom and 85 year dad (neither of whom are vegan) and they loved it too. This is a keeper!!! Thanks Lauren.
They both look so good!
For a while I was taking care of kids after school. They absolutely love their snacks called "Ants on a log" - it was celery sticks filled with peanut butter and topped with raisins - great treat, healthy and did not spoil their supper !
I fucking swear watching videos while on the toilet is a 85% of my life tbh
hAHHA amazing!
Lauren, none of us have the money to make both of them!!!!!!
Lol
+Amanda Lewis really? You want a trophy for that or what?
I don't think the ingredients look that expensive...Maybe the vital wheat gluten is $2.89. Hmm maybe they can do a budget challenge next time?? $5 limit for ingredients!
None of us? Lol u mean u don't have money, don't speak for all of us
None of us need to make both of them?
I found oyster mushrooms at my farmers market yesterday and made the Po Boy today. It was crazy good! That breading was so much tastier than I expected!!
They both look epic!
And I agree with Lauren, I think this is the best challenge outcome yet. You guys just keep getting better and better!
I made the meatball sub, and it is by far the best sandwich I have had since becoming vegan. So good 😍! I would love to make the mushroom po boy, but my sister hates mushrooms and complains every time I cook them. You guys are amazing!
that meatball sub needed spinach or basil or some green thing
I always feel like Lauren is so creative with her meals that I am always inclined to say that she wins
John wins by a land slide. That meat ball looks real af
I just found your channel. You guys are awesome. Subscribed!
Thanks SO SO much :D
"I think I'm over compensating for something". Hahaha did no one catch that
Can't wait to make these!! Would you please make a pulled jackfruit recipe? I know there are lots of recipes, but I just trust yours and know that it will taste really good.
Next challenge: EASY family dinner idea
Wow! These both look amazing! Thank you for sharing this video.
Who the hell were the two dislikes?? This vid is bomb
My heart nearly broke when I realized you were making a Po' boy with out Old Bay seasoning. They both look delicious though!
Sorry Lauren, but I couldn't' take my eyes of John's monster :P
ewww HAHAHAHAAA
Really enjoyed this challenge keep up the great work!
that po boy looks delicious. gonna have to try
As much as I love a good veggie meatball sub, Lauren's original take on the veggie po' boy is a winner for me! You both did a great job though :)
I will make the meatballs to use in the NEAR future, but I need that PoBoy in my life!!!! Great job Lauren!!!
Thanks for always making my hump days a little more bearable!
I am definitely making both!
This is the first one where I can't choose! They both look awesome :)
They don't sell that prepacked vegan beef here in Germany. :( I wanna eat the meatball sub!
huch, wo wohnst du denn? Bei mir gibt's ohne ende veganes Fleisch Zeugs. Bei Kaufland, real, biocompany... Selbst bei Aldi gibt's vegane Schnitzel :) #veganpower
You can use soya mince same thing
We in czech republic (neighbors) have granulated soy meat.. you must have it 100% too.. so just take that and season it like beef ;)
We have that in Germany! They sell it at ALDI or LIDL, vegan minced meat. (das veggie Hack bei den 2 Läden ist vegan, ist hald nur nicht gefroren sondern in der Kühltheke).
Ich würde es mal mit dem Rügenwalder Mühle Hack versuchen, das ist vegan und sehr lecker :)
I honestly couldn't choose one.....these look unreal!!!!!!!!!!!!
lauren's is ingenious!
I can not choose!!! I will def make them both! They look soooo good!!! Great job guys! Xo
