Im voting for John. Almost stopped watching because of Laurens complaining and he should win because she was being mean and unfair.

Lauren wasn't criticizing John at all or even his breakfast per se, just the recipe for the bacon. She doesn't like the rice paper. John even says he agrees and likes the cassava bacon better. It's a fair opinion. I've no idea what all the fuss in the comments is about.

+Chadagun - I'd disagree. There was criticism of John's choice to try something "trendy" and she was negative of paper bacon from the get go. There was no "oh, let's see how this is", no open-mindedness at all in her. John was much more into experimenting to see what the fuss was all about.
Being open-minded doesn't mean they had to like more than something else they had done, but just to give it a fair shake on its own merits.
Edgy Guy Hmm. I guess you have a point there, actually. That is true. I still trust that her reaction to the actual tasting of the bacon was truthful and not biased based on the initial reaction to the thought. Still, I think people are being way too harsh and I had no problems with the video.

Lauren, it's hard to be enthusiactic about a video in which you look so annoyed by. It's my first time noticing and this is totally still my favourite vegan channel for life. You just looked so annoyed and were being so negative all throughout the video, not just because of the bacon but in making remarks about anything. It was bit of a downer, like you didn't wanna be there. At the same time, this your platform and you really don't have to be fake jolly all the time. Thanks for your honesty. Maybe you just had a bad day or something. ❤️🌱

Not my place to comment on their relationship but Lauren's negativity is scary to me. To see someone be excited and happy about what they are making, and then have someone put them down at every turn...that is a scary pattern of behaviour.

That's what I always think about, when Lauren is complaining about people eating meat. I think the point of being vegan or even vegetarian is to not eat and replicate stuff "meat eater" do eat. You know what I mean? I'm not a fan of egg-like or meat-like vegan food. You can be vegan or vegetarian without that.
It tastes exactly like skin without the cruelty. Sooooo delicious!!

I HEART BREAKFAST! I vote for John's cups because the "bacon" looked crispy and it was creative. Lauren, I loved your hash brown idea as a side and the CHAO cheese was a good addition. :)
Sidenote: haters gonna hate. Relationships ebb and flow like everything else in life. People might have gotten a different vibe in this video than they normally do, congratulations to them. Who cares what you think happens between people when they are off camera? This is about vegan food, not someone's alleged personal negativity with their bf/gf. At the end I think Lauren joked about both dishes being "shit" because she is really hard on herself, and the work she puts out there. She has high standards, and there is nothing wrong with that. The video ended with laughter, so there!

Wow, God forbid a woman has an opinion. These comments are disgusting...I totally knew what she meant about the weirdness of rice paper being super unsettling and almost making your skin crawl. I've always felt the same way about it. Maybe she just comes off as rude to people who don't regularly watch their videos? I don't get why everyone is bitching. Both dishes looked pretty tasty

It was really hard to decide! And I didn't find Lauren to be harsh to John, she was being harsh to the rice paper bacon. It's great that she was being honest instead of all of us finding it out the hard way.

I would be vegetarian but I couldn't drink normal milk and I hate almond milk....

there are many other non-dairy milk options for ex. oat milk, coconut milk, soy milk :)

Reading the comments convinced me even more how of important it is to watch the whole video to understand what people are thinking about and then make your own unbiased judgement. I don't think Lauren was being mean or rude at all. Having said that, I am not gonna vote for anyone today. None of you are winners, I am afraid. There was no enthusiasm or conviction at all. Therefore both dishes looked unappealing. It's a pity.
Lauren even said at the end of the video that she felt they both weren't winning dishes. That they were mediocre and middle of the road dishes, she felt that they both didn't do very good this time. So I agree that I can't really vote for either person. The dishes seemed too simple for me to really appreciate. Not that I can't admire a simplistic breakfast but this video wasn't very exciting for me personally.. I also agree that Lauren wasn't being mean or rude to John, she was just stating her opinion about the rice paper bacon that they both had never even tried before today...it was just her opinion as a foodie person... Asian/International grocery is prob your best bet. I live in a small town so mine doesn't have it, so online would be my only way.

Hey Hot for Food! I absolutely love both of you and all your videos, but this video was a little hard to watch for me... normally I really enjoy your banter and poking fun at each other, but this time it felt entirely one-sided to me (i.e. Lauren tearing John down). I don't know, I could very well be out of line, so no need to take my opinion to heart if it doesn't resonate! I really don't mean to offend. Obviously it's not up to me to dictate anyone's behavior at all.
TL;DR, I feel much more at ease watching your videos that have a more positive, uplifting undertone. Just some feedback! I'm still inspired daily by this channel. xoxo
I don't know why people are saying Lauren's being annoying haha. They're just having normal couple banter-a lot of people have that sort of chemistry with their partners. I like Lauren's videos and opinion because she's not one to just go with the majority-she's real AF! I like rice paper bacon but I totally see how it could almost have a skin-like texture. I double layer mine and bake it on a sheet pan and it comes out perfect for me.
Another awesome video, creative and entertaining. You two are the best, your banter is so fun and I love your honesty. I think I like the idea of John's egg cups best for this one...will try with cassava though. Thanks for this rad vegan channel! 😄

Everyone has the right to their opinions but not everyone necessarily cares about them. HOWEVER, I PERSONALLY just want to say..I feel if you stopped watching because of Lauren simply sharing her thoughts about how she felt towards the rice paper bacon,..like why are you here? She wan't "complaining"... She is a foodie person....she's in the kitchen a lot. She has the right to voice her opinion about the recipes they make here. And believe it or not, a lot of people want the opinions from someone REAL and HONEST like Lauren, myself being one of those people. IT WAS JUST HER OPINION ON THE BACON!! She even tried it multiple times, almost as if she was trying to give it more of a chance, how she felt about it is genuine. I don't believe at all that she was "being mean" or "unfair" to John by voicing her opinion. John even stated that he felt if he had done the casaba bacon with it, his dish would've been perfect. So if you want to vote for John purely out of pity..then that's silly, he knows Lauren and how she is passionate about what she eats...she wasn't "trying to attack" him or "make it seem like his dish wasn't as good so she would win" or anything like that. xD ...I cannot believe what I'm reading in some of the comments. I like the cups because they make sense on the go during the work week. I don't know why everyone is giving a rough go on their relationship, I was actually thinking what an amazing connection they have and that it's solid and real because they can say what they really think and then discuss it. I like how they keep bumping into each other and banter. You guys are fun!

I live eat breathe Lauren and her videos and her personality. Whatever the reason is, she was definitely off in this video. Not going to attack because we as viewers do not know what goes on behind the scenes, but when you put out this kind of material and you act a certain way, there is going to be backlash. Idk, I feel like I'm seeing a different person. She's made videos on how she tries not to be a certain way and be negative, but this seemed like everything she doesn't want to be or portray to us. We all have bad days though, that's for sure. Maybe it wasn't even a bad day. Who knows

Yum to both, but I'm a sucker for a mini quiche so John got my vote today. I still haven't tried the Laekon bacon. I have all the ingredients but haven't gotten to it yet. I was hoping the crispy/chewy factor was what made it a win for me. I still have to try it for myself and see! I'm picky about texture too, so Lauren wigging out over the texture was totally relatable to me! If the texture is off for me, I can't get it down my gullet! Breakfast is my favorite meal too, so I loved this challenge! Way to go guys! 💕

Rice paper bacon is fucking delicious, coming from someone who eats actual meat bacon. However, the recipe (EdgyVeg) used olive oil in her marinade.
Both of these recipes are totally solid, but then you mentioned the pancake taco and now that's all I want omg.

I read the comments before watching, so when I finally did watch the video, I was waiting for some huge thing to happen. Nothing happened. I don't get what the big deal is. Has no one ever met a woman with a strong personality before?
I think you're all just offended by the idea of a woman who isn't a bubbly, meek, agreeable, airhead. Lauren knows how to joke around and dish it with the guys. She's dominant, and that's just fine.

I usually don't comment things like this but I think Lauren was dogging Johns dish way too much.. I have her on snapchat and she seemed pretty chill but when I started watching she was immediately negative and it continued throughout the whole video! John was nice and even called her dish a winning dish at the end, despite her negativity. It kind of feels like she was trying to down the bacon in his dish so people would be wary of trying it and vote for her mediocre omelet instead. John wins this time.
