The Just Alex channel popped up on my YT with the off grid cabin video. I had never seen any videos with the brothers together. I didn’t know it existed until Alex mentioned it and I noticed subscribers commenting about it. I look forward to going through this channel and seeing the wonderful history of Carl & Alex but I must say, I HAVE ENJOYED EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF JUST ALEX SINCE IT FOUND ME. Congratulations Alex!!! 🎉

I travelled to the Netherlands in my late 20's with nothing but a rucksack. It was one of the most incredible adventures of my life. Magic seems to happen when you aren't constrained by everyday responsibilities. I got my pocket picked in a street market when I decided to come back to the UK and I had no money to buy a ticket home. I decided I was going home anyway, hitched a ride to the ferry terminal (Freddy Heineken's limo!) and got a ride over in a VW beetle with a man who was going to a VW meet because his mate dropped out last minute. The hardest part was getting from Harwich to Cardiff because of the lack of motorways but ended up getting home with £5 in my pocket from a kind family who took me on the final leg of my journey. I can't tell you how many amazing things I experienced because it would take hours but I never went hungry or without somewhere to sleep. I wish you all the best, just hope you can put some fishing in on your travels. The bream in the Dutch canals are huge BTW!
For me who've been following you for a good couple of years it's quite a bit sad to see you two separate.. But having a younger brother myself I can perfectly understand your decision. I love my bro from the bottom of my heart but I've also noticed that spending months together in lockdown can easily affect our relationship. Now that we only get to see eachother like once every two weeks it's amazing to spend time with him together again. I hope everything works out for you guys, love from Hungary!
To have the wisdom (and guts!) to make these kind of dicisions at your age is truly amazing! Very inspiring, I can’t wait for the advertures you’ll be sharing with us.

Just speaking truth. 40 myself and only just made the right choices and loving life. So I'm glad you've done it young enough to make the most of it.
@@just_alex I've got a lot more experience of life than most of your commenters because I'm 67 years old, but by the time I was your age ,or very shortly after I was a racing driver (amateur unfortunately, I didn't make "Lewis Hamilton" money ! ) At the age of 26 I gave up racing to get married and had three children (now grown up of course). I now have five Grandchildren and amazingly, still occasionally get to drive on a track, recently in a Lamborghini and a Ferrari (I'm STILL 26 in my head!). The thing is,do what you want to do while you're young, It'll probably (almost certainly) be the only chance you'll get. Go for it, you'll never regret it.
Alex you're an excellent video creator! I love your thoughts, your visions, your creative beauty and the scenery that you share. It's the next best thing to being there in real life. ;) Don't ever stop traveling, cooking or exploring. I greatly appreciate everything that you create and share.
Subscribed and looking forward to your adventures Alex, Dawn and I are moving aboard our Narrowboat in April for a 5 year challenge to cruise the 3,000 miles of inland waterways, with a few extra comforts than what you are going to experience! But looking forward to being close to the open spaces and wildlife.
I am however a little concerned about you, so if you ever need a stranger to get in touch with for any reason I am here for you! Keeping healthy both physically and mentally is so important in today’s troubled world.

Having done a similar thing twice in my life -so far - I can assure you that even the toughest moments will be well worth it in the long run, and I have one bit of advice, if I may: Listen to your intuition and if you don't feel comfortable in a situation then get out of it. Hi, only just heard the news about the channel. All great things must come to an end. The greatest things always hurt the most when they end. I just want to thank you so much for what you have both done. I’ve gone through a tough time with my family and I always say fishing got me through it but it was also your channel. Each video inspired me to get back on the bank which cleared my head and helped me through my hardships. Was a little shocked when I saw the video but clearly you had spent many hours thinking about your decision. Many, many people looked upto what you and your brother created. For a while I noticed your interests were moving off fishing. I can see you doing very well. You seem like your videos give off a naturist and survivalist vibe and someone that it's interested in self sufficiency and if that's the case I am very interested to watch your journey keep up the great work!
Well done great for to do something brave make change, I walked from my house to Scotland I live by Bristol, I had my arm broke in pro fight, couldn’t train anyone thought do something crazy and just walked to Scotland, took me 8 weeks, and stayed in my one man tent, great experience,

Get yourself a hammock. They are a lot easier to pitch away from paths. Keep the tent in case you are somewhere without trees, but generally you can find out of the way tree spots, easier than camping spots.

Hi Alex, I came here straight from the video on the Fish With Carl channel to wish you a great new start and thank you once again for the effort and time you've put in, together with Carl, in providing us with the amazing ontent on the Carl & Alex channel.
I've been following you guys for a while and the natural transition to new and exciting stuff is something that a lot of youtubers miss out on because they force themselves to follow the content (or the money the content brings in) that they've been doing forever. It takes courage to step in this direction so I can only hope everything goes well for you and Carl both.

This is what i do all the time. Pack food and drinks in my Volvo and go away over the weekend. But i also bring my fishing stick and try cast fof Pike sometime 😄. Get the estate, or combi or avant or how do you call them in UK. You can sleep so good.

This is brilliant. I always wanted to do something similar. I thought of walking round the whole of the great Britain, starting in the south, going to Cornwall, up through Wales, through Yorkshire up to Scotland and then back the other side. Stopping in all the national parks and areas of outstanding beauty. Camping every night, fishing in the different rivers, huntinf rabbits and pegion, stopping at farms to get milk and food, no supermarkets just trying to live off the system. Unfortunately I'm married now with children and that dream can not be accomplished until the kids are alittle older. Best of luck on your journey, a wise move to do it before you settle down with children. you will not regret it,only thing I regret in life is always being worried about money and paying the mortgage and not travelling enough.
Being one of four brothers, I can understand your decision to do your own thing. I think it’s also good for you to get away for some alone time to comprehend your future. There’s so many people who, I’m sure would love to do the same thing, but just don’t have the courage to do so. I’ll be tuning in to watch your progress. Be safe!

Mate, you need to do a DIY camper. I live in one in the UK, and it makes going anywhere amazing. People would love to watch you go through the process of doing it up and then watch where it takes you.

Someone else has probably already said this (and it's cliché I know) but getting a van (and converting it to a camper) would help with your adventures! Having been converted myself it just makes everything seem so much easier!
Plan a trip to the boundary waters canoe area in Minnesota, USA . I can tell you everything you need to know! It’s amazing. You won’t hear a single engine your whole trip. Planes aren’t even allowed to fly over. Excited for your current journey!

It's gutting that you've stopped working together but totally understand why.
You should buy a van and convert it into a campervan it would be great video content and give you a home away from home. It will open up so many more options for you.

Honestly Alex, you're such a good cameraman, editor and producer that you'll never go short of ways to make an income. I suspect you'd be an awesome documentary maker too. But the main thing is you are taking care of your own mental health, outlook on life and most importantly your relationship with Carl. I think that's brilliant and am looking forward to following your adventures both here and in any collabs you do with Carl.

So I done some fishing/camping in Russia Siberia. Fantastic experience but at the time it was winter -25 and I kept thinking about when it would be over. Bears and wolf country. Now looking back I only think of it fondly. Enjoy the process mate 👊🏼🎣

As a dad of two brothers it’s nice to hear your thoughts at this point. I also quit fishing in my youth, so I appreciate the unattached feeling you have camping at the water without a line in it. I picked up fishing again twenty years later when I had my boys. Music is an important part of your videos, have you tried your hand at making some of your own tracks? I am very interested in outdoor videos with experimental/electronic soundtracks.
I tried making music when I was younger. I was terrible at it! But I enjoyed playing the drums for a good few years!
@@just_alex using a tracker program like ableton should be pretty straightforward for your talents. Don’t worry about tuning or rhythm just start sampling and experimenting.
