Hi Alex! Freediver here. I absolutely applaud you for making the most of the proximity to the loch but you should always try to avoid diving alone. Shallow water blackout can always catch you out and this could be fatal if you don't have a buddy. I'd also double check your weight belt to ensure you're not over weighted - again if you get into trouble you don't want too much weight on your waist. A good way to check is to put the belt on with all the equipment, position yourself upright in the water toes pointing down and completely exhale. If you're properly weighted your mask should just be under the surface of the water. Too heavy and you'll continue to sink, too light and you'll be bobbing with your head above the surface. ANYWAY - lecture over. Hit me up if you ever want a diving buddy - cheers!
Love this video Alex. Your videos are so calming and informative with great filming. I'm trying not to be irritated by the comment below that this cabin experience is so 'middle class'. We all watch You Tube videos for different reasons, for information and enjoyment. Just because I, for instance, really enjoy good crime documentaries, it doesn't mean that I'm a criminal or potential serial killer (at the age of 77 its too late to pursue a criminal career 😂). I also love wild nature even though I can no longer explore a wilderness, go camping and attempt to ascend a rocky outlook. It is better to look into and enjoy other peoples worlds and experiences in order to have a wider understanding and outlook on life. Carry on as you have been doing Alex, don't be swayed by others who would stop following you. Your number of subscribers tells us that you are doing great.
Good video Alex, really enjoyed it. Made me want to stay here. Clicked the link and was a bit disappointed tbh. No children allowed, max of 2 people to stay here, no friends allowed to visit, earliest check in 3.30pm, check out by 10.30am, minimum 2 night stay @ £235 a night. That £470 for 43 hours of cabin use. I guess if you can afford that for 2 nights and have extra money for all your food, plus don't have kids it would be a nice experience.
I feel like Alex would be the coolest guy to hang out with like he's just so fun and creative and I just keep learning more and more about all kinds of stuff ,stay strong brother ❤
My partner and I stayed about a mile from Loch Etive 7-11th June. The weather was hot aside from a wonderful thunderstorm on the last night. We also enjoyed some delicious fresh seafood and had magnificent encounters with nature. No midgie bites for us not being near the water in the evenings! Scotland is beautiful and totally underrated 🏴 🦀🦪🦞🦐🌲
You are such a vibe man, I love seeing another person my age having the same hobbies and loving nature. Great video Alex ,keep being you and uploading whatever makes you happy!
Scotland is on my bucket list... not too far to travel from Wales. Alex you're adorable - the loch is slightly over seasoned. Classic! Oysters are a very expensive mouthwash. I've never tried cooked oysters. Another totally beautiful experience watching your video. Live, love, laugh. Namaste, Alex
I just recently got this channel recommended, and i hate you... Im now sooo hooked on your content! Love everything you do, and it looks so liberating to go and do stuff like you do. Keep on being awesome ❤
Hey Alex, I've been avidly watching your videos every day since I found your channel about a week ago. I've for some reason found it difficult to find other people interested in all of the things I am (foraging, homesteading, gardening, cooking, travelling). Your videos are largely inspiring as you seem to live the life I hope to begin very soon. Thank you so much for creating such pleasant and positive videos, your curiosity and thirst for knowledge is really lovely :))
There's a few places to see red squirrels in england! Largely islands (Brownsea island is known for it, pretty sure the Isle of Wight too). But also a few heaths and woodlands have managed to somehow keep the greys out. I spent a night on brownsea a number of years ago and saw so many red squirrels!
My first visit to Scotland was also at Looch Fine, it's beautiful there and you can fish well both on the looch itself and with a fly for trout on the streams or reservoirs, but almost 25 years have passed
Another incredible video Alex! What a beautiful place. I love a home with lots of windows as well. You can't beat natural light. Looking forward to the next video. Cheers 🍻
Hi Alex, been following your channel since your camper build and travels but iv'e been busy and not watched for a while, wish i knew you were heading to Loch Fyne i used to work at Loch Fyne Oysters and only live a short distance away, would have been great to have met you and shown you some local attractions. Another great Video keep up the great work 👌
As with all your videos I love it! Keep them coming mate, your a natural. To old now to do all these adventurous things but love experiencing them through you skilled cinematic and narrative content.
Great tae see my wee country in its glory 💙 I’ve spent a lot of my summers up Loch Fyne fishing and camping just up from furnace and the old quarry. Beautiful part of the world
I like that you have a natural and relax voice speaking on your vlogs , that's when your viewers get the attention of what you were saying ,and i love this kind of vlog , simple and very interesting
Another great video Alex😊 Your long apprenticeship with Carl means you make them so professionally that the content shines through. What a great way to spend a few days in such a beautiful spot.. I fondly remember a similar stay in a cabin on Loch Awe and if the midges are the only negative you know you're having a great time. Keep living the dream. All the best bud
Thanks for video ! Calm as always, as i love them ! I studied in Scotland and during the all video i was like "Midges!" " Midges!!" "MIDGES !??" Glad you addressed it at the end ! Have a good day
I've just came back from a 5 day solo camping and kayak fishing trip on the west coast, I stayed near Ballachulish but explored everywhere within a 100 mile radius and it was amazing...i do it 3-4 times a year 😁
I came here to say that your adventures are so inspiring, now i want to go to an off grid cabin on the bank of a lake for a weekend . Awesome stuff man 👍
New subscriber to your channel Alex, I'm having a tough time at the moment and I've found your videos comforting to watch. I love your Britishness and your attitude to life.
Man I enjoy watching your videos so much! You seems so happy and positive about those little things in life.. Wish I could be like that one day. Love your work!
Beautiful spot, I love Fyne Ales so looks handy for there, Hurricane Jack and Jarl are my favourites of theirs. It looks very peaceful there, I find it very relaxing when you sit somewhere and there is virtually no man made sounds, just the sea, animals and the wind (and quite possibly rain). You do also notice the longer days even heading a bit North of Edinburgh but when you get into the isolated areas you also notice even in summer just how dark the nights get without any stray light. The midges are often terrible on the west coast, Skye is brutal for them, particularly when camping at Glenbrittle to attempt some of the Cuillin ridge, heard various theories, the Marines in that area use Avon skin so soft, others suggest sprays, there are some candles etc than can mitigate them slightly or as one old boss said “take up smoking for the weekend”! Enjoyed the video, looks like you had a lovely stay and were very lucky with the weather, I do think when the weather is good that Scotland is perfect (think the same for the rest of the country but especially patriotic about Scotland)! Try the islands next time if you haven’t already you can end of on some of the prettiest beaches you will ever see with only the occasional seal or if you are lucky an otter for company!
We have very similar hobbies, but I always learn something new and interesting from you :D Thanks for the relaxing, high-quality, informative videos Alex!
what an amazing spot! From what I’ve heard about oysters. if you eat them raw(alive) you have to chew them, because if you swallow it takes longer for them to die. which gives them time to release compounds that can cause food poisoning.
Well worth investing in a Mosquito net that goes over you hat/cap with a pair of gloves. Allows you to go out fishing earlier and later. If there is more wind it keeps the Mossies of more. Lived in Scotland for 16 years and loved it.
Hi Alex, I really love your videos, especially this one. Such a chill vibe, educational, interesting and your personality shines through! Keep it up :)
Alex, there are red squirrels in England. One of the main places is the Isle of Wight. It is illegal to take a grey squirrel on to the island & you can be prosecuted apparently. This is because grey squirrels attack the red squirrels. Red Squirrels are native to the UK. When grey squirrels were introduced they almost eradicated the red squirrel population. There are black squirrels as well & they attack grey squirrels. I am not sure if we have black ones in the UK or not.
Yesterday, I was thinking, ‘Alex hasn’t uploaded in a while’ and here we are!
Same!!
Awesome upload 🫶👍
Worth waiting for😁
Same here 😅 I’ve been thinking that for awhile😅
There's always more to his videos than just a "staying at a cabin" and I think that's wonderful! 😁
Agreed

+1 to see this video!
Is there no cameraman at all?
Jeez, there's always one out there. It must hurt to be that pedantic.
Not sure why I'm taking notes, I've never dived in my life, but this was a good advice lol
@@namenl2205haha me too!!!
I love how he is so humble and apreciating.
Going through a terrible mix of a break up and depression and your video cheered me up. Only thing that made me smile today

His video is like opposite click bait. The thumbnail and the title is so simple but the video is so much resourceful and entertaining.
Looks lovely and peaceful. Just what I need.

I hold the exact same view! It’s quite hard finding people that enjoy these things, but they’re definitely out there 😍
Your videoes always makes me feel so peaceful.

Nice one, Alex it looks like a beautiful place. Nice and peaceful and amazing wildlife 😁👍
