great video
i got the opportunity to build some environments in Unreal and film on a massive LED volume last week. Everything that you're saying is true. The art director we had on set was absolutely crucial to making our shots believable. Virtual production is POWERFUL, not EASY.
I'm excited to follow you and learn with you!
Bro, that sounds amazing! If you are going to NAB, let me know. Would love to hear more about your experience :)
Hello Conner, that's cool. I've been working on unreal for quiet a while now and recently I got an opportunity of working on an LED volume, but I am having an issue with syncing unreal with the volume. It would be an great help if you could help me with understanding the process. Ndisplay and the trackers are ready but I'm stilling confused about few steps. Would appreciate your response. Thank you.
Your a legend in my book 🔥Been following for a couple months and you’ve taught me so much! Thank you!
Love it! Lots of food for thought!
Great vid, would love to see a technical dive. Like what TV, PC etc...
Great job! Love your channel!
Dude delivers! Again good and informative video. I believe I would choke and be totally speechless if I would get to visit a Volume-studio. There would be a moment of silence and my eyes would glow. Then would start the infinite questions about how everything works :D
Great to have an unsponsored view
Hey, you have done a great job, virtual production is not only applicable to the field of film, but also has great potential in advertising creativity, but I feel that the camera tracking is a bit jittery, have you tried a binocular tracking camera solution? such as REtracker Bliss or T265, DS80, they are low cost but good tracking effect.
Hi Jon. Great video. I was wondering how does unreal knows where the TV is and what to project on it? Do you have to put the TV or a card in the 3D world the same size and distance from the tracker in the real world and tell the software that's the surface it needs to project on? Or how does it work?
Love it!
Thanks for the breakdown dude!
Great vid
it's $5k now, 3 years down the line it'll be a "budget" friendly gear! Technology is insane!
i want to build my own , but hella expensive specially the Screen , not sure yet what exactly it does , But i wonder if i can replace in certain way for a Zimba Board , its a SingleBoard PC x86 basically even allows you connect an External Video Card , comes with 2 Ether ports one of the is 10gb , Sounds logic tho ?
I have noticed some pretty substantial jitter in most of the shots presented by you and other creators exploring virtual production (for example at 05:21). Is that a problem of the motion control system and have you noticed this as well? Or is it maybe somehow related to the tracker you used? Because if you look closely the background seems to have more visible jitters. I guess there may be some jitter introduced through your edelkrone and than being amplified by the tracker due to the relative perspective? What do you think? In my book something like this would not be deliverable. Still very insightful content - thanks!
You are not wrong. I definitely see it too, and have adjusted some of the creative direction of my projects to account for this.
is it possible to do this with a projector?
I want to buy a vivemars but I have a question about the time code if I need the cameras to have time code, and a time code generator, can you please guide me
You will need to buy a camera that supports time code. I hear the black magic 6K might do that. Anything that is in my grade will generally have that, but you will have to do your own research. I did not use a camera with time code, and I just synced it up as best I could.
you can buy any camera and connect it to a sync device, I use different camera tracking device but Mars would have a solution to allows you to delay the tracking and match your finial composite output.
How did you solve the timecode problem on the htc vive because your camera does not generate it
We didn’t. We just made it worked and guessed along the way 😊
you need a genlock or timecode sync device to allow you to match the camera tracking data(and camera recording) and the camera composite output, add delay 1 to 2 frame to the camera tracking(usually the data comes faster)
I have a A6600 will it work this camera ?
Technically, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. A camera is a camera in this situation. You don’t have genlock or time code though
Background Glass is horrible. Glass smooth but background shacking.
Yes I see clearly. It's still Jitter. Rotating laser in Base station. It's very expensive and It's still JITTERING. Tell me if I wrong...
You’re not wrong. It’s not as noticeable for large subjects
