And to think we are just at the beginning of this workflow. Can't wait to see how good it is in 10 years.

Great vlog thx. Please tell me if you had only access to Vive Base Ststions and 1 controller and 1 Bive tracker and all are 2018 so ver.1.0
How Many Base Stations would you use.? and between the Controoler and the puck which u would use for cam tracking On a chroma studio. Thank u for your attention

What was your photo / video plate workflow? Did you shoot the plates wider than you needed them to be? How did you match the focal length of the plates you shot, to the in-studio shots with talent? 100% agree about plates, love to see more stylized ones made in AE as well! Thanks!

It really depends on the shot. If its someone speaking to camera and not moving much then we use just a 16x9 plate and scale it down to match because if you scale it up to the wall then everyone will be way to big. For after effects typically clients will make their render to the dimensions of our wall. If its more run and gun with multiple angles we will shoot panorama plates and mix it with practical elements. With all the plates we do a basic color pass so its matches the physical set.

how would you get parallax effect if using video plate?

Honestly it looks like the black levels on the virtual background are all too high. There is very visibly less contrast in the virtual environment than the physical. I notice this in all the examples except for the very high contrast space scene. But for consistent reference, the shadow side of your ipad is WAY darker than the shadowy corner of the cafe. This isnt to say they need to be identical, but if it were a real life location there's no reason to believe that the shadows in the back corner of a large sunlit room would be 2-3 stops brighter than the shadows cast by an ipad right next to me

I agree with you...... Were still diving into unreal engine and learning how to match the colors better especially when it comes to the shadows.

I guess the $5000 HTC Vive Mars Camtrack is the most cost efficient option? Wondering if the VIVE Pro 2 Full Kit $1,399.00 would work the same for camera tracking to match with the LED videowall - parallax effect?
I see that your Videowall is 2.6mm pixel pitch, did you guys get the 7840Hz refresh rate panels or refresh rate has little effect for Virtual production camera work? I wonder if you guys get the moire effect or not really?
Thank you so much for your videos. Really informative. Looking forward to watching more of your future videos. 😊🙏

Sorry for the late response. The Vive Mars has been incredibly solid and the biggest benefit to using MARS vs a Pro 2 is doing your zero point calibration. Because the Vive Pro 2 is used for VR it uses different software where you still have to do a room setup to set your zero point and now we are using encoders to bring focus data into unreal and thats only possible with the Vive MARS vs Pro 2. Our panels are only 3840hz but we don't have any issues when genlocked...... I will be getting in some panels that are 7680hz to test them side by side.

have a question. Why did you use Led wall for 7:03 any particular reason ? why not a simple greenscreen, because any way the BG plate is real footage not a digital environment, and camera shake is a post work. just curious know, what am i missing

Its easier to match the lighting direction and intensity when we can see the final image in camera and also you get the natural color and bokeh from the camera and lens when shooting it all in camera vs comping the background in with a green screen.

THIS ..IS AMAZING STUFF. how much did it cost to set up this LED wall and processors? because normally in my research most LED walls are HUGE but this one can fit my space can you help me understand the cost?

You can build a wall this size for around 250k depending on what brand, pitch, and processors you go with. We use unilumin UPAD III 2.6 panels and novastar processors in our studio. I can get you a quote for some panels so you have a rough idea of what it would cost for you studio if you want to email me at shawn@remedyfilms.com

Most of these shots are pretty rough looking. Rarely did I believe that the talent is in that environment. The construction shot was passable. I appreciate the enthusiasm for the virtual production, but I wasn't "sold". It's all about how the tech is used.
