  • The tailbone is commonly missed when seeing a healthcare professional for lower back pain.
Truthfully, assessment and treatment of stuck/shifted tailbone injuries are not commonly taught in school for healthcare professionals. That means if you saw someone about your back pain, they probably didn’t check (or even think about checking) if your tailbone is contributing to your lower back problem.
Surprisingly, the tailbone (sacrum and coccyx) often is a huge part of any back problem. It is the foundation of the entire spine and the crossroads between your legs and the rest of your body.
A missed tailbone problem is why some people only get partial relief when getting an injection or surgery in the disc of the lower back (lumbar spine).
The tailbone is surrounded by stiff joints that move just a small amount. And where there is movement in the skeleton, there is risk for arthritis, stuck joints, and injuries.
