Best vlog on the subject. I must have seen hundreds of vlogs on this issue but without proper planning. Most of them fail to achieve the purpose because we can't see any damn thing because of the subtitles which is covering the model or his own actions. Kindly be aware of that.

This is just incredible. The volume of information that is easy to understand in this video is incomparable to anything I’ve come across. I began to experience lumbar back pain/stiffness that began to migrate into my right hip over the last 15-16 months. I’ve spent so many hours with physical therapists, yet never have walked away with this much education & understanding about what is causing my pain, in which muscle, tendon, etc it’s likely in & the various ways in which to address it, safely but effectively. I don’t understand why so many trained health professionals, physicians all the way through to Physical therapists are so unwilling or unable to educate & openly share all of the information they’ve obtained/acquired/discovered through their own education, careers & practices….Even when it is so valuable & even life changing for their patients. Additionally, the stretches are incredibly beneficial, as I am already feeling relief from the hip flexor stretches. Your outstanding presentation was clear and concise! More importantly, for me, using the model of the hip was pivotal to understanding the hip structure as well as the involvement of tendons and muscles in the development of hip pain. Very impressive and helpful! Thank you so much.

I am a 49 year old female runner who runs for the mental health benefits as much, if not more than the physical ones. In the past few months I have developed pain in the outside of my left hip and numbness in my leg that has made running less enjoyable and sometimes painful. My mother had arthritis in her hips so this is my biggest fear and I am so scared of not being able to run anymore. My non running friends have all (unhelpfully) told me that running will cause me to have bad hips and that I need to stop. They don't understand how important it is to me. This video has reassured me that I likely have some type of muscular/tendon tightness so will embark on a month of stretching to see if things improve. I will try to enjoy walking in the meantime to focus on my longer term goal of running well into my 50s and beyond. I can't thank you enough for making this video!
This is so well done and explained. I’ve had front groin pain for almost a year. Haven’t wanted to see a doctor. Haven’t wanted to stop exercising. The pain at times is terrible. It almost feels like a “tear”. I’m going to try the tests and stretches. Thanks.
You're most welcome Lisa! Glad to hear the video was helpful. I'd say you should probably ease up on the exercises you were doing to give the hip time to recover. Let me know how you progress. Best wishes, Ashley.
You wouldn't need your Doctor for this it would be a Physio & they would send you this link anyway, i just mentioned mine to my Doctors receptionists & was sent right away to a Physio he was amazing at explaining it & this long was even better.
Idk how long... Since i was a teen \ early 20s... I thought "my ovaries hurt" because where it feels like an ache... A throb. ... Not til about 3 years ago after having my 4th child i saw a dr & some pt i realized its "hip" pain because they told me & said my right hip is tighter than left ...
Im very glad I found your video! First, you gave an excellent tutorial of the anatomy of 3 areas of related to specific hip pain. For me, this is VERY helpful. Second, you show how to self identify or eliminate the (potential) cause of hip pain in culprit area. Also you gave very clear info to help identify - Yes, this is exactly my problem. Lastly, and so important, you gave exercises to help strenghten and sometimes stretch problem areas... but you gave cautions along the way. I can go all in and that is not the correct approach to heal the pain I've been in for many months. Honestly this video and one other has been so helpful in improving my pain. I hope you're teaching because you're quite good. Thank you!
Thank you. I've had bilateral hip pain located on the lateral side just as you explained. I've been diagnosed with bursitis. This started when I was 27 years old, I'm 66 now. Periodically I've received steroid injections. Over the past 2 years I've been getting them every 3 months. Interesting to note, at 27 I was 5'9 3/4" @ 128 pounds, a nurse. At this point in my life I've just retired with 38 years under my belt. I was an ER nurse for 31 years. I'm not lazy. I'm flexible, even now. I can bend my legs over my knee without exertion, BUT it does elicit pain to the lateral, bilateral hips when forcing further flexion. Now I'm overweight, have had a c- spine fusion and last year an l- spine fusion. I also have rheumatoid arthritis diagnosed at 27 and AIH diagnosed at 12. So I've been on a low maintenance dose of steroids for years as well as imuran since 1984. So pain is no stranger to me and have had numerous steroids injections over the years. Anyway, my point. I've been to physical therapy many times. I used to teach exercise classes as well. But, I'm going to try these exercises you have pointed out. Recently I've started a waking regimen as well. I have a lake I walk to. 5 minutes there and back and will gradually increase it as it becomes more bearable. Thank you for this clip!
Hi Rhuksania, You are most welcome. I am glad to hear that the video has shed light on your Hip pain cause. Please let me know how it goes with the stretches. Best wishes, Ashley

Thank you!! I too was starting to think I was developing hip and / or knee arthritis, but now I think it is just very tight muscles. I feel great just doing the stretches.
I have sudden onset of pain in both hips. I believe it now to be the last few years since Zoom and other Video meetings have taken over my work day and I'm sitting much more than EVER after being very active! The pain in particular presents at night when lying on either side and subsequently keeps me awake. Your explanation makes total sense with the femur head sliding forward within the acetabulum due to prolonged sitting. Great Job Sirs!
Thank you so much! Was able to identify the source of my recent strain/pain in the outer hip while watching along with this video. The recommended stretch appears to have helped almost immediately! Excited to see how the stretching goes over the next couple weeks. You just may have saved me $100s in PT bills!

You're most welcome Erick! So glad you found the video informative. Let me know how you get on. Best wishes, Ashley.
Thank you!
This was absolutely brilliant and helped this old lady so much!!!! Thank you thank you!!!!

I'm
Very well explained and demonstrated… will follow your instructions. Thank you 🙏🏼

I have been having this hip joint pain last 3 years, till date none has able to explain me to this details, I lost my mobility last 2 years, just wishing someone help me out to treat this correctly ..
Thank you!! I too was starting to think I was developing hip and / or knee arthritis, but now I think it is just very tight muscles. I feel great just doing the stretches.
So helpful! Especially the explanation of the hip anatomy and what type of pain it causes.
Thank you! I'm glad you found this video helpful. Let me know how you get on. Best wishes, Ashley.
Hi Vanessa,
This is lovely to hear! You're absolutely welcome! I hope you continue to make improvements. Keep me posted. Best wishes, Ashley.
Vanessa, This video is on my watch list - just found it - so I can spend more time on my treadmill.
If this worked for you and saved you $$ on PT, then, perhaps Ashley could use a coffee or two. ;^)

I have scoliosis but doctors cleared me of any sciatica nerve issue. Dont have any pain but just so tight hip flexor n side hip pain. Cannot walk properly.

Can’t believe this I came on this site quiet by chance ( Google may have been listening in) and you explain my hip pain so accurately. I did a 2 hr power walk in my Fitflpop trainers two weeks ago(first time in these trainers)and my left hip has not been right since - also left knee.
I also do daily exercises on my rebounder and the cross over leg exercise was making it worse - doh lightbulb moment. What a stat you are. So grateful for your precise explanation. Need to check out your knee vids now. Xxxx
