      I think we could do better than Adam Sandler. He would ruin the mean spirited complexity. I think the characters just need better motivation. The core idea is actually interesting.

      I guess I was the only one that actually had high hopes for this movie to be heartfelt. Tbh I still don't think the concept is bad, I mean, the trailer does tell that he's actually going nuts because the loss of his daughter, so it would make sense that he would believe something that doesn't make sense. But I think the movie could've been executed better. I think I almost shed a tear when the trailer played in theatres, or Im just a giant pussy :/

      Yes, there was a twist in this movie but that still doesn't change the fact that Smith's friends were making an incredibly harsh/manipulative plan that the movie TRIES to paint as normal. And failed horribly.
      I know this movie was well-intentioned, but it's sugar-sweety and dripping with sap to give the audience the audience the tears. Sentiment could work, but this one didn't.

      the bro who made this review is just a stupid guy who didn't get it,
      in the movie Howard friends were actually seeing the things they were struggling with, and every one had conversations with the only thing he struggled with (time or death or love), even Haword (will smith) said that in the meeting scene, he said that they all had mental condition, but again this reviewer guy was stupid enough to miss all of that.

      @@abdelhalimboussaa9438 I don’t know what’s more pathetic: you getting mad at this old ass review by replying to another person’s comment rather than writing your own toward the reviewer (Chris Stuckmann) or you “explaining” some plot details as if it’s supposed to change the fact this movie was extremely flawed in terms of dialogue, characters, plot, and more. I’m gonna go with both.

    • @mylestee5769

      @@HooskMastaJProductions It is upsetting that the reviewer completely misunderstood the movie, and as a result decides to bash it, and it’s highly unlikely that he’ll reply to an old video he did years ago. In regards to the movie, you must be one of those people that takes everything literally. I will admit some dialogue was a bit dry, but there was also lines that made you felt what was being said. Try imagining yourself as a character in a movie instead of just a spectator, you’ll love movies and appreciate their art a lot more.

    • @HooskMastaJProductions
      @HooskMastaJProductions 3 роки тому +1

      @@mylestee5769 If I had a penny for every time someone in the comments claimed that the reviewer (Chris Stuckmann) "misunderstood" this movie, despite watching it himself and having way more knowledge about films than most of y'all here, then I would be rich as hell right now.
      First and foremost, I couldn't care less if you thought this review was upsetting. No one put a gun to your head and told you to watch it, much less defend some idiot who got mad at said review.
      Second, you'd have to be the dumbest person on the planet to even assume I "take everything literally" when that has NOTHING to do with my original reply to the guy above us. To reiterate, I said what I said to him because he got MAD at an old ass review when he could've just ignored it and left it at that.
      Third, you clearly don't know the difference between dry and terrible dialogue b/c if you did, then you would've known and understood that this movie had plenty of the latter. I've seen indie films with better characters, dialogue, and storytelling than this garbage ass movie and that's not even a joke.
      Finally, why the hell would I EVER wanna imagine myself as a character in this movie? None of them are relatable. None of them resonate with me. As a matter of fact, I've written better characters for unproduced webisode and short film scripts than what these "professional" Hollywood writers did for this movie and I only went to college for 2 years and 8 months to learn how to do it.
      In conclusion, you can sit there and cry about me not liking this movie or me going off on some chump who had no business getting upset over a review he didn't agree with but, at the end of the day, that's all you or anyone else can do. You won't change my mind about this movie and you sure as hell won't change the reviewer's mind either. It's as simple as that.

      @mylestee5769 3 роки тому +3

      @@HooskMastaJProductions If your short story of a response isn’t an indicator of how seriously you take things, than you’re just delusional. I’m not going to address every point in your rant, just a few. It’s not hard to relate to characters in the story, because they’re either parents, or aspiring to be. That’s relatable to over 100 million people in America alone. Unless you’re a toy collecting, basement video game playing, bros over hoes type a guy then maybe it’s not your genre. That still doesn’t make it cool to bash a good movie, just because you can’t relate, or the bigger picture eludes you. That’s like saying that you didn’t like the Avengers because it’s unrealistic. And get your head out of the reviewers ass bro, you’re wearing it like a hat.

      It was good. The acting was top notch, the storyline made perfect sense to me, and it touched me on a personal level. I thought the way they incorporated love, death and time into the plot was along the lines of 'A Christmas Carol'... Minus the dream part, so it had even a better connection to reality. Chris and his audience are bouncing up and down waiting for the next Iron Man. This film was beyond them, emotionally AND creatively.

      That's not the point. Whether or not they actually happen to be love, death, and time itself, the movie is still manipulating you into supporting 3 people who are essentially trying to make their friend look crazy for completely selfish reasons. That is a huge no no! Don't EVER make your main characters unlikeable unless they're supposed to learn something in the end, like Scrooge. But the problem is this movie supports what the main characters are doing, even though it's clearly despicable. They have no idea death, time, and love are real. They're still just actors to them. And, on top of that, they're being really cruel! If their business is dying, then they should've either got him some help or explained the situation and asked him if they could sell his percentage of the business. But making him look like he belongs in a mental asylum is low, no matter what the reason!

      The maker of this video has definitely got the movie all wrong. Will Smith plays a grieving father who is trying to overcome the death of his daughter. He writes letters to death, love and time. These letters are meant to be for the characters of Micheal Pena, Edward Norton and Kate Winslet respectively. All of the characters are going through something similar SPOLIERS*** Micheal Pena is dying, Edward Norton is having trouble with love (physically) and his unconditional love for his daughter and Kate Winslet is running out of time because she is aging (in the movie) with no family/kids. The movie uses the cash out as a base plot line to reveal more as you find out the actors they hired to play death, time, and love aren't even real people. Please do not watch this youtuber for movie reviews.

  • @George-hd4km
    @George-hd4km 7 років тому +316

    My spoilers are to contradict the reviewer's spoilers. This reviewer Chris, did not watch the movie or at least the whole movie or is just trying to spread hate for the movie. He has said that Death, Time and Love were actors, hired by the friends of the Will Smith character. Yes, that's sort of the truth. Death, Time and Love were acting as actors, but in reality, were the real Death, Time and Love. Anyone watching the movie and paying attention, would have realized that.
    Death, Time and Love, not only played their part for Will Smith but also guided his friends to self awareness of their life issues. I greatly enjoyed the movie. By the way, there was a second great twist to the movie near the end.

The only thing they could have done is try to help him Christmas Carol style but that's not what they're doing.
      And yeah they can do that on an iphone when Star Wars Rogue One with, THE guy who invented Photoshop, ILM with Disney studio money and Lukasfilm tech could not make gov Wax Tarkin, or Inflatable Princes Dall LeyYa look real? Sure.

I mean, that's basically how People are, they try to destroy a becoming weak Guy on the Top to get better payments, this is how the Working Life works on the top, everybody tries do destroy everybody, basically the most realistic christmas Movie of all time. But I think despite the great to hear Plot it has terrible Acting and Dialogue, I mean, for the premise alone no Movie get shittin by critics.

    Hey Chris, I really enjoy your reviews and generally you offer some fun insights. I SO appreciate that! As an aside - thanks for recommending The Void! Really fun! But, Chris, man, I'm going to respectfully disagree with you on this one! I loved Collateral Beauty! I think the supporting characters were struggling with their own humanity and their inability to sit with the grieving of the main character; each one was struggling with aspects of time, love and death in their own experience! Oh well, that's the beauty of film right - one flick, a million different perspectives and experiences!

    will smith is very talented and has charisma for miles... but he rarely makes a savvy movie choice. he's actually a bit of a square (nice guy). his sensibilities for what's cool are a little dated (90s) and too mainstream to ever completely turn anyone off or completely win anyone over. homie turned down django unchained because he didn't think django was portrayed as the hero, even when tarantino specifically wrote the role for smith. he turns down good "risky" roles all the time for the same old meat and potatoes year after year - i guess that's what speaks to you when you're a normal guy who doesn't have emotional issues like some "artists" lol

They're trying to deem him unfit to vote so that they can go through with the contract and save the company. Not trying to get him fired.

    Just watched the movie. Gotta say I don’t agree with the bad reviews. It’s a good movie.
    The “actors(resses)” they hired are actual spirits of love, death, and time. They explained that.
    There’s a deeper “collateral beauty” everyone is trying to help Will’s character, however the side-effect beauty to it is that his friends receive the help from the spirits without that being their intentions
