Yeah, I used to play with 300 ping alright (some lag sure) but now I just lag too much and even get disconnected from anywhere further than "close". So I am almost forced to host my own games. Hope they improve the connection, because I really like joining different games instead of hosting my own
they are often kids, and half of the time they speak broken English or non at all. Reason why they show up in haz 5 is because they don't know any better.
We once had a driller who buried the fuel cell on a EDD It was around 10 meters underground We had no engineer I tried to defend topside but got overwhelmed and moved down into the deathtrap he made There were 3 holes in the ceiling Bugs also spawned inside the hole We also had detonators He was level 85 FML
the bunker strat works if you got 3 prerequisites: 1. Engineer with repellent platforms 2. Scout with IFGs 3. Shock or pheromones engi covers the hole at top, scout keeps an IFG active at the entrance, tunnel should be long enough that you can see a bulk at the far end without the explosion being able to reach you. And have shock or pheromones ready to stunlock said bulk if one comes

That dreadnaught *really* wanted that driller snuffed out though and was relentless 😂 it can be hard to escape their aoe if you don't have dash but on that ping?......
even if you have only one other teammate to help you, two dwarfs on bottom, two dwarfs on top, splits the horde up a bit and allows teammates to see threats like detonators

I'm used to playing at 250 ping, and sometimes I get games where it's unplayable at 150 ping. A lot of it has to do with network stability and the likes. But 400 ping, may god help him.
See, burning hell is always a good option. It burns (pun intended) swarms with very little effort. Because the amount of damage it puts out simply with the burn means you can gun them all down much faster. Pair up with some good slow effects on the team, and you can guarantee that nothing will break your team's line, short of really big nasties. Team composition is what matter the most on higher difficulties and modifiers. If you're playing with randoms, try and adjust yourself around what you see. If you have heat damage and there is a cryo cannon driller, let them target fliers and freeze the dreadnought. If you have lots of robots, let the person with heat damage do their stuff and get the heat procs off, especially against Nemesis. And for the love of all that is rock and stone, it you have a lot of AoE damage, ESPECIALLY the C4 loving drillers, keep friendly on. Some people panic too much and chuck that stuff where their fellow dwarf is. And needless to say, on haz 5, that's a death sentence.
Yeah I learned my lesson and switched to 4 C4s to quickly mine minerals and (rarely) bunkers. Almost never use the C4 against bugs. Driller has a lot of powerful AOE and CC even without it.
@@Saddam_Husaiyan nah I very rarely find a scout or engi who doesn't handle himself and do his job. Gunner really can do whatever he wants as long as he shoots so you pretty much never find a bad gunner. Driller players, for whatever reason, are one of two extremes.
as a driller main its the cryogun's cold radiance that spoils us. the ability to position yourself in the most retard spot possible and still get out alive because you froze the 200 bugs flanking you without knowing it causes us to play bad when we get used to it. I had to relearn to position myself better when i started playing with other weapons.
I like when drillers put the cells a little down so the zone is still on the surface, but the cells are out of the way enough to be able to shoot over them, but the bunker is just a terrible idea.

Hell I've joined lobbies in Mexico the game rates as "high" distance that are sub 150 ms. The lesson is the server browser isn't to be trusted and has been goofy since part1 of the MODest update.
Sludge pump and shard diffractor can damage oppressors decently well in a pinch, and you can drill around the oppressor and shoot it in the ass if your tunnel is long enough
I really despise the bunker "tactic" because it either works perfectly and you basically do nothing and it's boring or (more likely) it falls apart and your little safety bunker gets breached and you all perish 😧 as an engineer main when drillers join me I just pray they don't start burying the fuel cells! I've even had a driller C4 the team before because we didn't want to hide in the bunker....gives all drillers a bad name

@@popsicleman8816 bugs attempt to take the shortest path. if you dig big holes they will move around them (if it's shorter), and you can use this to funnel the bugs into tight areas without ruining your movement. With c4 you can do it pretty quickly too it's very effective in smaller caves. blasting holes in the wall and ceiling will funnel all the bugs onto the floor or corner of a cave when parhfinding to you, while also giving you a big area to run through if you need to getawau
I absolutely love Burning Hell, its fantastic. However, I'd also argue that it really doesn't have the best spot on a dreadnought mission as its main usage for me is dealing with grunts/shredders/swarmers while shooting at a bigger target, which isn't the main focus of that mission type.
if he wanted a bunker so badly, he should have done a bunker underneath, they are easy to make, and it doesn't move the objective in anyway, the first point went smoothly so there really was no point.

As an Australian who plays DRG with many Americans 300 ping is rough. But I have managed many EDDs with that ping. I just never take engineer because platform hopping has ended me more than I'd like to admit when my guy refuses to grab a ledge

And when you're making space for your team to sit when the objective is against a wall, you want to drill out horizontally and vertically so peoples heads don't get bitten off. But who knows, he could just have a larger brain and incredible foresight that we mortals don't have

I don't like bunkers, especially below the ground. They are just really boring. But when the cave is cramped and the terrain really sucks, I do make a quick bunker in a wall using c4. Or if I have a spare c4 and need to resup, then I make an emergency bunker we can retreat to just in case
He is not lying though. The netcode made holding E a challenge. You never know if the thing is going to be interrupted or not. And the ping aint the problem, its the servers. You can have 200 ping but also suffer the Holding E problem for no reason other than some servers are kinda wonky like the RU servers, and other times it could be USA and the Drop Pod is intangible, meaning that you fall down from it and cant leave the map.
That explains so much about the holding E problem! Was hoping for a bug fix but now im unsure if it’ll happen. Getiing better servers might be the only fix

jokes aside, i play around 150ping mostly and never host(cuz when i do people join get high ping then leave) and before season 2 i could animation cancel pickaxe and throwing axe no problem when i join no matter the ping but ever since season 2 its just not possible and i know its a netcode problem cuz i can easily animation cancel when i host. and i saw people share my same issue
Same, it was a frustrating experience at the beginning of season 2. I've had to resort to extra firing speed for Engineer and Scout's tools so that I don't pull my hair out trying to place some flares and platforms down. Also, do you know why they changed the netcode?
I will agree with the net code issue. Since the last update dropped, my friends have had severe issues with lag and desync. We never had these issues before the update, we all live relativly close to each other and used to have 30~ in ping. But now it fluctuates between 50 to 200 ping. We've had to cancel sessions because of this. I'm still not sure what causes it.
As a Driller main, I don’t like bunkers. Just the thought of a Detonator or Nemesis spawning close by is frightening enough. A Nemesis spawned right on top of me during the Hold Ground phase of Salvage and instant death ensued. Can you imagine if there was a bunker involved when guarding the uplinks?
That's why every bunker needs an exit plan. Ideally a pre-drilled hole, sealed by the engineer, that anyone can break through quickly, which is far enough away that you could escape a detonator through it, let alone an opressor.

Bunkers absolutely require cryo 100% of the time so you dont lose to a oppressor. It still runs a high risk if bulk detonators are in the spawn pool
After a friend’s comment, I shoulda clarified, Uplink/refuel bunkers, not bunkers in general where mobility is an option

He is not lying though. The netcode made holding E a challenge. You never know if the thing is going to be interrupted or not.
And the ping aint the problem, its the servers. You can have 200 ping but also suffer the Holding E problem for no reason other than some servers are kinda wonky like the RU servers, and other times it could be USA and the Drop Pod is intangible, meaning that you fall down from it and cant leave the map.
That explains so much about the holding E problem!
Was hoping for a bug fix but now im unsure if it’ll happen. Getiing better servers might be the only fix

jokes aside, i play around 150ping mostly and never host(cuz when i do people join get high ping then leave) and before season 2 i could animation cancel pickaxe and throwing axe no problem when i join no matter the ping but ever since season 2 its just not possible and i know its a netcode problem cuz i can easily animation cancel when i host.

Same, it was a frustrating experience at the beginning of season 2.
I've had to resort to extra firing speed for Engineer and Scout's tools so that I don't pull my hair out trying to place some flares and platforms down.
Also, do you know why they changed the netcode?
I will agree with the net code issue. Since the last update dropped, my friends have had severe issues with lag and desync. We never had these issues before the update, we all live relativly close to each other and used to have 30~ in ping. But now it fluctuates between 50 to 200 ping. We've had to cancel sessions because of this. I'm still not sure what causes it.

As a Driller main, I don’t like bunkers. Just the thought of a Detonator or Nemesis spawning close by is frightening enough. A Nemesis spawned right on top of me during the Hold Ground phase of Salvage and instant death ensued. Can you imagine if there was a bunker involved when guarding the uplinks?
yeah and when something like that arrives ... you drill away, thats litterally the name of the damn class

That's why every bunker needs an exit plan. Ideally a pre-drilled hole, sealed by the engineer, that anyone can break through quickly, which is far enough away that you could escape a detonator through it, let alone an opressor.
I like to bury empty items,like resupply pods,the antenna and fuel cells so that way we have space. But I only bunker if the team wants to bunker.
Sometimes they can provide as some cover from ranged enemies though
