I feel like thinking the R animation cools it down faster is what new players intuit naturally, without hearing it from anyone else. When you attach a cool animation to the first gun of the first class you're likely to play, and assign it to the reload key, it's reasonable to assume that's a reload.
Even though I know it's just cosmetic, I still feel the urge to press R between waves of enemies, because it's common sense to press the reload button when you're not shooting enemies.
the urge to constantly press R on downtime with the sludge pump is too strong even if it already has a engine that slowly stirs it anyways

The R animation may not do anything but for me playing DRG is a flowchart.

I knew for a while now that the minigun reload animation doesn't do anything, but I still like to spin it before combat because it makes me feel cool.

Seeing how leeches can still grab at 90° through walls, maybe the Devs are just afraid of cones?
Pobrally balance reasons, otherwise you would be able to popcorn everything on a whole wall if you happaned to sit on the other side of the cave, because cooker has the ability to hit everything wihtin it's scan area, unlike other guns that just have a chance to hit something within theirs.
They should probably just modify the crosshair to reflect the cookers behaviour better

I still consider myself a relatively new player to drg (pl 87) and i cant say enough how helpful it is to see these guides and informative updates. Im excited to see what you do next. I havent used many of the secondary primary options because i grow too attached to the first picks (yes including the G2K over the Mk1000 or the drak) So having these guides to show when its best to use a different weapon and how, gives me a good amount of motivation to give it a go. Im hoping that the new grenades we get in S3 are something that can really affect our playstyles (like giving buffs, adding mobility, or even granting a new type of status effect)
My guy, you are missing out on so much if you don't play with other classes and weapons. When I first started, I ignored the scout and driller, but when I played them for the first time, it was so new, refreshing, and fun! This applies to the weapons too. I never picked up on the EPC and breach cutter but when I did, it felt great to use them since I only use the PGL and Subata (I am fond of those weapons).
@@a-pizza-pie im currently 2-3 star bronze with each class and have used a fair amount of weapons already. Exception being the hurricane launcher, the sludge pump, the experimental plasma, and the coil gun. I have a fair amount of experience with each class it's just that i have a hard time switching off of the default weapons because i get used to them and learn how to play around them right away so that by the time i unlock the other weapons, upgrade em to be viable for at least haz 4 and get a decent overclock im just too attached to what ive already been using so i don't really put in the time to figure em out. Im slowly breaking that habit using things like fast freeze Cryo cannon for driller, and the electric stubby diffractor combo for engie. Still got to get a bunch of the overclocks before i cam really start to customize tho

I think the r key myths are so prevalent because they make so much intuitive sense, I for one was never told that the r key did anything but I still assumed that it reduced cooling time.

One thing Bullet Hell is actually kinda decent at is spreading status effects. Namely stun and the heat from Hot Bullets. With enough density for heat spreading to work its magic you can control and kill swarms in a safe, if somewhat ammo hungry, way. Sadly, even haz 5 rarely has enough bugs to really let it shine. Especially if your teammates are spreading the bugs out.

Always knew the reload animation didn’t make the minigun start up faster, I just do it because it gives the cool little illusion that you can spin it yourself and immediately start firing. I dunno for me it just feels fun to do.

On the inspect animation, I get the feeling someone can very easily misinterpret it to increase cool rate. After all, it's bound to the reload button, where all all other start weapons in DRG uses clip instead of overheat. In addition, the player-character spins the gun as if they were trying to make air flow through it better. Although initially funny, I don't know why you had to extend that one-off joke for a whopping 19 seconds. For a joke on one's attention span, i"m sure even patient viewers will find it a little long.

Hoping the next vid is on the Cryo, I'm a bit confused on how to build with it. ATM I have tuned cooler with Colette amplifier to try to cold shock other enemies but considering ice is great for single targets I'd love to see some advice about ice spear and some of the other OCs

Wow that wave cooker cylinder is a massive oversight.
It's probably an intentional balance decision rather than an oversight. Remember that the wave cooker hits EVERYTHING within that cylinder and has unlimited range, whereas other weapons only have a chance of hitting something within their cone of fire, and that chance gets lower as the cone gets wider.
If the wave cooker did fire a cone, then you could easily stand at a distance and pretty much microwave an entire cave all at once.

I imagine the deal with blisters giving 2x spooky benefit with blowthrough effects is because the blister is treated as a sphere, and the projectiles entering and leaving the blister's hitbox is counted twice.

Would love to see a video about Neurotoxin and the Wave Cooker t5a mod Contagion Transmitter. The complicated nature of how it works (Neurotoxin proc/spread and 30% damage) is only explained in detail on the Wiki. It also begs a lot of questions that require testing:
1. What is the radius of the Neurotoxin AoE spread?
2. Can multiple sources (other players and/or weapons) of Neurotoxin damage stack despite only having one icon?
3. What type of damage is the 30% boost granted to the Wave Cooker (Corrosion/Fire/Radiation/Kinetic)?
4. Are Robots not eligible for the 30% damage boost by virtue of being unaffected by puddles and poison?
5. Is all this stuff actually working as intended?

I'll have to revisit armor break on bullet hell. I always thought blowthrough was best and maybe still do but real combat is the best way to check. Off to battle!
I know the R animation doesn't do anything to speed up cooling, but when I overheat and do it, it looks like it is helping and it looks cool.
One thing I did notice recently with the blisters is that they work with critical weakness like other weakpoints, no suprise right? The bigthing is that they continue to work with critical weakness even when on dreadnauts. While a very unique situation, it makes dreadnaut fights even easier than before.

Pretty sure way back pre season 1 or even before the new biomes them r animation could be cancelled and kt would spin and let you shoot at that point without needing to use m1 to spin it up. But it's been patched for real long

Apparently, if you run around the fountain 3 times while playing the minigun R animation, you unlock luigi!
Is it that the blister marks the spot for additional weak point modifier, bullet goes through the blister hitting on entrance and exit with the same wp multiplier (would that show 2 instances of damage?). It would explain the axe not double dipping due to the explosive damage popping the blister.
Can we expect more TVRUHH clips in the future?
I have had very little connection to the rest of the DRG community, and I still kind of thought that spinning the minigun cooled it down. I did realize it doesn't, but it is a good metric for cool down management.
I figure it bears asking, at which ranges are the Wave Cooker's outer and inner reticles accurate? Could be useful information for developing a feel for how to aim it, and the reticule does seem designed with this in mind.
How about feathering the minigun? Shortly pressing LMB to pre-spin it up, or keep it at a high spin rate, without shooting?

The wiki mentions that when a blister breaks, it will apply on death effects from mods and OCs, does that mean that boiler ray and Crisper T5 B can blow them up for extra damage? I haven't seen it brought up anywhere.
weird playground rumor type stuff never seems to disappear huh. i remember in warframe people used to say that in survival missions actualy sprinting and jumping made your air/life support go down faster. Funnily enough there used to be a earth map outside on the fresh air (or lack thereof) that still had a survival node talking about how the enemy is pumping out oxygen somehow.
Survival has a simple % Air/life support bar that slowly drains over time ata fixed rate, activating scripted time spawning towers of life support or collecting enemy life support drops will fill it up.
Reminding me of the days of pokemon. Shit like the mew under the truck and how you got to do X, Y, and Z things.

Bullet hell has 2 very good use cases: It absolutely deletes swarmers, and it combos very well with a cryo cannon optimized for freeze power.
