"Bridge over Troubled Water" is a bona fide 20th century classic. Simon & Garfunkel released it in January of 1970. It quickly went to #1 in the U.S. charts and stayed there for two months before stepping aside for The Beatles "Let it Be". It went on to win the Grammy award for Song of the Year. The "Bridge Over Troubled Water" album was the last album they made together. This song was all over the radio when I was a really little kid, so listening to it brings tears to my eyes too sometimes. Art Garfunkel's singing on the song is wonderful.

Lyrically, melodically, and vocally a timeless masterpiece. One of their greatest songs out of many great songs. Paul Simon is a lyrical genius, and one of the greatest song writers of all time. I don't know if Art Garfunkel had anything to do with their melodies, but vocally they were like a hand in a perfect fitting glove.
This is absolutely amazing, well written lyrics no doubt. Everything about this masterpiece is perfect.
So many covers of this song, but none sung with such emotion as the wonderful Art Garfunkel ❤

When I was around 10 years old (a loooooong time ago), I took guitar lesson with my friend Lou Pearlman. His parents invited me over for dinner and told me to bring my guitar. When I got there, Lou introduced me to his cousin Art Garfunkel. I had no idea who he was.We played some guitar and he signed an autograph for me that I still have. Lou went on to form the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC.
Not just one of their best.... one of the best!!! IMHO...

It absolutely is incredible.
This is a real good example of why I love the music of my lifetime. The music that I grew up with touches your soul and move you in away. That music doesn't do that any more. I'm not saying that these artists are bad or anything, but they don't write and record. This kind of music that comes from the soul music that touches another person's soul music that moves you in a positive direction. And open you up to receive all of your blessings and dreams.
You are so right… this is real music, well written and sang, every word touches and reaches your soul.
This song is so amazing, and Art's voice is what makes it so chilling! Want another suggestion that is a lot like this? Listen to Air Supply, "All Out Of Love." It came out a decade later, but they were the masters of touching ballads. I think you'll love them. 🙂

From what I understand, Paul Simon originally wrote this as a hymn, at least the first two verses
The producers said it was too short so Paul wrote the third verse. He said he wrote that verse for his mother. If anyone has information to the contrary, please let me know.

But if you want to hear the best Birds in a Sound Of Silence you wanna Listen to Simon and garfucall subversion especially since Paul Simon wrote the song and sang it with his partner art Garfunkel.
