Thank you Pluto for the dedication...feel so happy you enjoyed this song full of grace, love and friendship...what a pleasure to see you during this delicate moment
One of the greatest singing duos in history, The beautiful poetry of Paul Simons words and Art Garfunkel with the voice of an Angel,. I thank God I was a teen in the sixties to witness their amazing talent!
Beautiful reaction to a beautiful song. There isnt just one meaning to a song like this. Apply it to yourself as it spoke to you. Dont just hear the message, be " the message."
It’s GARfunkel. It rhymes with carbuncle. My generation knows how to pronounce it because their music was on the radio all the time when we were growing up. Yes, you should definitely check out more songs by this legendary duo.
I love this song from them, may I say great choice direlyon. This song is so relaxing and peaceful, we played this at my mom's funeral, she was a big Simon and Garfunkel fan. Pluto, thanks for the reaction.
Pluto you are beautiful and your sweater is fire. You better hear about Simon and Garfunkel. Next on your 'welcome to the world' agenda, please take some time to react to Aretha Franklin's cover of this song. It comes in colours and changes and somehow keeps the original feel. You're welcome.
So many Simon and Garfunkle songs to explore and a huge repertoire of songs by Paul Simon on his own- he wrote most of their stuff, Art just contributed his gorgeous voice. Next check out “The Boxer”, “Scarborough Fair/ Canticle”, “America”, “The Sound of Silence “.
I love it that other generations are now appreciating the real music that doesn't exist today. Thanks for the reaction and your willingness to experience things you've never heard before, not everyone is interested in doing that, but you get it! New member, loved both reactions I've seen from you. If I can Dream was the first :-)
"Sail on, silver girl" sounds cryptic. One explanation, that I like to think is true, is that Paul's then-girlfriend started seeing grey hairs and it saddened her to see this evidence of growing older. Paul wrote the verse to buoy her spirits. Imagine, just for you your boyfriend songwriter put into one of the biggest songs ever "your time has come to shine, all your dreams are on their way, see how they shine".
Paul Simon was and still is a musical genius and he wrote the songs that made Simon and Garfunkel one of the greatest duos of all time. Art Garfunkel has an absolutely amazing voice! The themes for Paul’s writing often seemed to come from the personal experiences of either one or both of them. To get a better appreciation for both “The Sound of Silence” and the emotion that Art displays in his rendition of “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, one needs to do some research on a relationship that Art and a man named Sandy Greenberg shared during their college years. Art’s dedication to his friend is absolutely amazing!!
this song came out when I was a very little girl I remember my parents like that a lot they were called Simon and Garfunkel pronounced Gar sounds like car . you were close ….. I still listen to this song today to me it’s like the song the river Jordan to me it seems like a holy song
Pluto, play Elvis' recording of Bridge Over Troybled Water. Paul Simon, who wrote the song, said the way Elvis sang it was the way it was meant to be sung. Play the King's version, you'll see what Paul Simon meant. Thanks
Simon and Garfunkel have a slow version of this song it’s different and theirs. I prefer the Elvis version of this track it captured my attention when he sang it.
Thank you Pluto for the dedication...feel so happy you enjoyed this song full of grace, love and friendship...what a pleasure to see you during this delicate moment

Art Garfunkel's vocals are priceless, and his harmony with Paul Simon is perfect. A high point in the history of pop music.
A divine gospel.
There are a handful of perfect songs written in the past fifty years. This is one of them.
I was a junior in high school, 1987, when fully introduced to their music. It's 2024 and they are still being discovered again, for the first time.
Ty for reaction! Heard Paul wrote this specifically for Art's voice. Which, whether true or no, still sublime.
This is the original !!! Paul Simon is a genius & Garfunkel voice ......................

Some people don’t care for Paul Simon’s songwriting. But then I tell them… He wrote “Bridge Over Troubled Water’”.

I am new here. Love your reaction. A truly timeless classic.
Paul Simon: I just wrote a song that seems pretty hard to sing right...
Art Garfunkel: Hold my beer!

Paul Simon, the shorter guy on the album cover wrote the song. He called it a "hymn." Nice reaction Pluto.
Way back when we referred to their style as folk. Yes it’s a ballad. Beautiful song !
