Watching you react to this song was a pleasure. Watching you laugh, watching you smile, watching you dance in your chair. Thank you.
I AGREE
I enjoyed this performance but I loved your joyful reaction to it. You’re such a beautiful gift Sarah!!
This was 1987 in South Africa and it marked the first time white and black peoples were allowed to a attend a concert together
That's a common misconception, but this was filmed in Zimbabwe.
The album which contains this song has the South African infusion throughout. It’s magical…yes? Paul Simon helped spread the beauty of this sound to America.
Love love love!
Beautifully put Christina, such an uplifting song.
That crunchy bass is just ❤
Fretless Bass. Great!
Just seeing the enjoyment she got from this song was priceless.
I seen Lady Smith Black Mambazo years ago. It was probably was one of the most fun l had a concert.
You will absolutely love Graceland, the album the song comes from. It's always been one of my top 10 albums since it's release 😊
When the workers in the South African diamond mines left work for the day, they had to have the soles of their shoes checked in case they'd trodden on any small diamonds while they were working and so could have worn them all the way home (intentionally or otherwise).
I don' think I've ever seen you have so much fun with a reaction or be as much fun to watch as this one! Beautiful.
The whole album was great!!!
What a gift to be with you when you heard and saw the video. Your joy was infectious! Listen to the whole album!
with the amazing Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Wonderful. Their tune "Homeless" is one you will enjoy reacting to, so good to see you loving this.
I don't know if people remember but four years after this concert, Headman Shambala (brother of the group's leader and one of the basses seen performing here) was shot and killed by a white security guard. - it apparently was a racially motivated killing.
I loved hearing you doing the South African singing with the clicks, rhythmic breathing, etc. It was like you were on stage with them!! Loved how happy you looked. ❤❤❤❤
Yeah
Diamonds - South African. Bodegas and walking blues -African American. The connection between Africa and EVERY good genre of American music is right here, and Simon knew exactly what he was doing.
Pauls album Graceland features an eclectic mixture of genres, including pop, rock, a cappella, zydeco, isicathamiya and mbaqanga. Simon wrote songs inspired by the recordings made in Johannesburg, collaborating with African and American artists. 🤞✌️
This is just amazing, marvelous, brilliant and a joy to see! I can never get enough of this video/song.
I remember a lot of push-back on Paul Simon for going to South Africa to work this album. South Africa was embargoed due to apartheid at the time. I thought so then, as I do now, that his statements about an unpopular and misunderstood inclusion were stunning. Simon's poetry shaped my life. Not sure if Patterns or Underground Wall performed by Simon and Garfunkel, or others colored my view more.
It was a delight to watch your reaction, Sarah. Thank you for sharing your joy.
Just came across this.....this was with the very famous South African group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. I have several of their albums. They are so talented! And even more special to see in concert. Enjoyed your reaction, Miss Sarah!
Paul Simon is forever in my heart for Graceland one of the few albums i skip no track on, was a delight to see you fall in love
Your joy is so infectious. Suggest under African sky as another reaction.
Such a great song! Paul Simon is such a great singer songwriter. After his success with Simon & Garfunkel in the 60's, Paul Simon went solo in 1970. He has a huge library of songs such as "Mother & Child Reunion", "Me & Julio Down By The Schoolyard", "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover", "Still Crazy After All These Years", "Gone At Last", "My Little Town", "Kodachrome", "Loves Me Like A Rock", "The Boy In The Bubble" etc.
On my list of favorite albums.
Such happiness.
This song is a diamond itself
SO much fun! 😄 That whole Graceland album is just wonderful. 💕Ladysmith Black Mambazo is a treasure!
I have watched this vidio 200 times at least and I feel the same way as you every time!
There's nothing more beautiful than Sarah totally enjoying a song!❤

This is from the album that is hands down my favorite of the 80s.
Watching your joy as you listened to it, brought me back to when I first heard it.

This reaction made my night, Sarah. Lots of joy.
I recommended this near the statt of your Channel. Happy that you got to experience this from his concert in Africa with Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
Imo one of the top albums / concerts of the 20th century. If you can't tap your foot to this .. well I don't know what to say . I was lucky enough to see ladysmith before Joseph passed ,its something else. And Paul of course , master songwriter of the highest calibre surrounded by amazing musos ..
Girl did I enjoy your reaction. The Graceland album by Paul Simon is full of gems. It's hard to pick a bad song. Just looked through your video list and you have another SUBSCRIBER!!!

Thank you so much!
My mum loves Simon and Garfunkel and Paul Simon. I grew up hearing these songs.
There’s another that I think you’ll love.
It’s called “Call Me Al.”
According to Paul Simon, this song tells the tale of somebody like himself who travels to Africa.
While there encounters a spiritual experience so extraordinary that his life is instantly edified.
The song just sounds fun and whimsical, initially. Then, something magical happens.
I really enjoy you ans your channel.
Thank you for all you time and effort to make these videos for us. ❤

This song is a contender for my favorite all time lyrics. The album is one of the few albums I consider perfect from start to finish, not a bad song on the album IMO.
Girl your face and expression was priceless 😂 I love Paul Simon this song always makes me smile and pick me up the backup singers were awesome.
It's great that music makes you so happy Sarah.
Fantastic reaction! 🇨🇦🔥🔥🔥🔥🥇👍👏💖
It is so beautiful to see the joy in your eyes that this music brings. Thanks for the wonderful reactions.
Love this song, love this whole album, love the musical genius of Paul Simon, love that he spotlights African music like Ladysmith Black Mombazo, and love your joyous reaction!
This kinda church is so much fun.. sadly I received so much hate from these ppl for being with one of them.
I just love this song so much. Also....Late in the Evening (S and G) and Hearts and Bones by him and Graceland.
THE SMILE ON YOUR FACE IS THE GREATEST REACTION TO THIS SONG. YOU ARE AWESOME.
I loved seeing a young person enjoy it as much as we did when it came out.

Just a tremendous performance!
I remember the music, but I did not know, the choir were dancing too. Beautiful.
One of the most delightful reactions I've ever seen.
I am a new subscriber as of just the other day. I am wondering where you are from! Pretty amazing you have not heard these songs before (I watched your John Denver and Jimmy Buffet reactions). I think it's fantastic you are hearing them now. I am wondering where you are from as these songs have been in my life for decades and stir me, as well. Neat to connect this way! Blessings!
❤
This was the first concert in South Africa that was not segregated.
A great reaction....and that little chirpy sound you made was just fantastic.
Love your channel ❤

hello beautiful woman If you enjoyed this song, you will most likely enjoy the song. You can call me al. The song from that concert. May God bless you.
From the Holy Land of Israel
Andrew.. you may be correct but in reality it was about diamond mining and the rich got wealthy but as usual the Poor who actually mined was sacrificed
Every single day that I see you I LOVE YOU more and more I just can't help it,so when it's time for me to PASS ON I will have you in my minds eye and when I get to Heaven I'll tell GOD ,I have to go back to be with the most beautiful woman in the world
so Darling be ready to be swept off your feet when we meet. LOVE ARLEN.
Strange to remember how much criticism Paul Simon got for "appropiating" African music.
