Sigma lenses have a great bang for your buck! I used to shoot a lot with the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 and that also kinda felt like it was many prime lenses in one lens!
Having owned this lens and currently own the canon 24-70mk II, in no way shape or form is this lens better. Technically the only advantage is the OIS, but in actuality it almost doesn’t show much of a difference. Reason why anyone should get this over the canon is because of the price. I’m a sigma fan but these lenses especially the 24-70 is no where close to quiet and the autofocus isn’t that great. Would I buy this if I don’t have a higher budget? Absolutely yes. Would I choose this over the canon version if I have the budget? Absolutely no. It’s a good Lens but not comparable to the canon.
I just bought this lens and im already regretting it. I own the canon 24-70 ii, I bought the sigma thinking the stabilization was gonna be like the canon 70-200...I literally cant see a difference between on and off. These guys should tell it like you did...I would've saved my money!
Yep, great lens for the Eos-r. I pair it with the 18-35 1.8 art for when shooting in 4k. Also, RF 35 1.8 does a great job in low light too for a cheaper lighter lens especially on a gimbal.
hey, i also have a canon R and i would like you to tell me what do you think about the autofocus speed in this combination? is fast enough to catch a running dog? no problem with front and back focus?
@@Kriczu The AF is slightly slower than the Canon 24-70 (28) RF version and the images of the Canon are sharper from a distance but I personally find this as a better portait lens. I like Sigma's colour; they are more saturated and the skin toens of subejcts look more genuine whereas with the Canon, it makes human subjects slightly pale looking. The 1.8 35 MM is way less sharper than both. I have it and in Jpegs when you zoom closer to the eyes, it is not as sharp as people say. I personally own the R6MK2 and the EOS R. I use the 1.8 M5 for macros but the sigma 2.8 - 24.70 for everything else.
This was a great review of the sigma 24-70! I have the tamron 24-70 and it is my all day workhorse if I’m not vlogging!! So many great focal lengths!!!
Thank you so much! I have Canon R6 and Sigma Art 35 1,4f and Sigma Art 85 1,4f. I lost my Canon Zoom Lens, wich helped me to shoot weddings, and I have to choose and buy very quickly another lens and the price for 24-70mm rf 2,8f is too high for me. It was hard to find an adequate Videoreview to this combination Canon R6+Sigma 24-70 Art. Thank you! I buy definitely one more Sigma
Thanks so much for taking the time to create this video. I really appreciate it. If I brought a Canon EOS-R would I need to buy an EF adapter to use it, or would it fit the camera without an adapter?
Nice review! I have been looking at 24-70 as my next lens....for the last week or so I have been fixated of the Tamron 24-70 G2....reviews have been very good, and I seem to recall some review comparing it against the Sigma, and the Tamron was the winner....but I love the quality of the ART series....although they are heavy, that, to me, signifies quality of construction....so, based on your review, i'll look again at the Sigma....your footage is Excellent!
Thanks! Appreciate that. Yeah I’ve never used the tamron but I am super happy with Sigma ART, and I agree the ART series lenses are super great quality!
Hey Justin, this is genuinely an in-depth review from your side on this great lens indeed. I would like to seek your guidance regarding opting for one best option out of 2:- Sony a7III with Sigma 24-70mm f 2.8 ART OR Canon eos R6 Mark ii with Sigma 24-70mm f 2.8 ART? Is there really a big difference in terms of output considering the price point since I do mostly still photography and that too occasionally when i am on weekends or on a holiday trip, Which model do you suggest basis my requirements
like the shots, adore the lens but may I ask, do you set your face on a "blurrish" resolution on purpose? I always try to focus on your eyes, but they stay blurry... makes me crazy xD
I want to make a short film in very low light on Canon 90D. Can you suggest a lens that has an apertrure of f/2.8 and can also have a good blurry background and also has image stabilization.
Love the video man. How is the quality of stills? Does the Canon EF-RF adapter lower the image quality in anyway or would you recommend strictly shooting video?
Great Video. Crisp and to the point and avoiding too geeky stuff, all practical info from a user standpoint. Importantly for me, I was hoping to see a review to check how it would work with EOS R.
i have a sigma 35mm lens and i just ordered a sigma 85mm lens, i also have a canon 50mm. should i just cancel the 85mm and get this one?? is it enough to replace the other 3?
Hey bro, thanks for the review! Which camera did you pair the lens with for the lady working out sample video? Also, not sure if it you had an ND filter, if so, which? Please and thank you!
I have the canon 80d and i heard this lense is a great lense. I heard it's discontinued i wonder if i can find this lense and don't have to look very far
hey Justin, I picked one up, and the focus ring is quite stiff-- I do a lot of manual focusing-- im curious though-- is it intended to be stiff? what is your focus resistance like?
hey man, am i crazy if i wanna get a seepd booster and put this in a canon m100 XD? im a painter so i dont require the top tier most excellent performance, but i have a ton of fun with photography.
It is a great lens but it feels like a brick in weight and I don’t like how the zoom ring is in the front. It does a great job but I prefer the Canon 24-70 2.8 ii
I don't get it. If you are shooting it in the party you will use at least f4 to cover group shots (to be safe). Of course you will use a flash for light. So being a con for lowlight is subjective.
other than the nice f2.8, i found that this lens is not that much different from the kit lens and it was not worth the 1.5k price tag when the kit lens can do pretty much the same thing. Idk why people hyping up this lens so much

Agreed man! And someone once told me that the glass used in sigma ART lenses is the exact glass they use in their Cine lenses as well 😱
Justin Romeyn Man if that’s the case, then no wonder the image looks so incredible!
Nice review! Just ordered one. I did not realize how big it was until I saw it in your hand in this video! HOLY COW

I’m about to get the canon 16-35 f/2.8 ii from a friend for cheap. Should I be concerned about not having IS for video, because the sigmas do have

Yes
Did you film this coffee video in log format? and then painted it?
Is it more convenient to use this one, or the 18-35mm sigma one? I cant decide which one to buy....

How is the autofocus speed and accuracy with ef-rf adapter on eos R?

is there a log like s-log or c-log on this footage?

Oooo makes sense as to why that dynamic range was so even. Also, didn't know anybody else used GOBE other than myself! Thanks for the response bro.

If I want this lens (for my r5) do I also need a mount adapter or does it fit straight onto the camera body?
So does it have image stabilization? The Lens
It does! Is it SUPER great? Not so much but it does help a bit
Great review! I’m stuck on this or the RF 24-105 F4. The RF 24-70 2.8 is way too expensive.
I am considering those same 2 lenses for my R. They are priced similar, any ideas how the two lenses compare in terms of image quality?
hey Justin, I picked one up, and the focus ring is quite stiff-- I do a lot of manual focusing-- im curious though-- is it intended to be stiff? what is your focus resistance like?
Yeah mine is fairly stiff but it definitely gets better the more you use it!
Great content. Can it pair with a mirrorless canon without an adapter?
No sirrr. Canon mirrorless is rf mount. This lens is ef mount. An adapter is needed.
