In 1981, six years after joining Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks went solo for the first time with her debut album ‘Bella Donna’. A massive success, it sold more than five million copies in the U.S., topped the album charts and produced four hit singles, including her signature anthem, "Edge Of Seventeen." More platinum albums followed - ‘The Wild Heart’ (1983), ‘Rock A Little’ (1985), and ‘The Other Side Of The Mirror’ (1989).
In 2019, Stevie Nicks made history by becoming the first female artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice - first as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998, and most recently in recognition of an extraordinary solo career that spans nearly 40 years.
Am I the only one who would give up their cell phone, computer n delivery apps to go back to the 80’s? I would give it all up in a heartbeat to go back to Walkman’s n VCR tapes.
Nah, take me back to 77 peak Nicks & Buckingham era Fleetwood Mac
Actually scrap that. Take me back to 68 to see Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac.
No if I could I’d go back to those days no cells, computers , would love walkmans and vcr for sure again where we watched mtv kids actually were outside playing !! Not stuck in a house with no means of life !
Makes you wonder if in a few decades someone will say ‘Am I the only one who would give up this ChatGPT, these androids, the self driving cars and all this, just to go back to when we had iPhones, Facebook, and a much simpler life.’
I’m from the 80s and I totally agree with you.
Can you imagine what the people of 1924 were saying after just having experienced a world war and pandemic?
@@ahmeda.3198 but that's what every generation says about the last
I'm coming up to 50 and it makes me laugh seeing my generation turn into old fogies.
Today they complain about iPhones. Before that, it was violent video games. When I was a kid it was too much TV. And the old people in the 80s said "these kids stay in all day watching TV. Not like in our day, we played outside". Or with music. In the 80s they said "all this horrible music is made with computers" & 40 years later, they say the same thing.
Anyone here in 2024?😊

Oooh, me. Me, me! I'm here.

Why did people dress up like they were guardian angels on the NY subway system in the 1980's? The eighties fashion was Andy Warhol's best joke.
Stevie Nicks and Prince working together created a timeless classic.
Agreed
👍🏽💯❤️💃🏻🙌🏽
It is a shame that Prince and Stevie Nicks didn't collaborate on more music !
Badass song ❤❤uhh
Amazing feeling when I heard her share this in concert in Columbus, OH!🎉 ❤
40 years later 1983-2023, this song is still great!!!
E será sempre agente viaja
Yes, it is!!! Timeless music

I heard an interview Stevie did explaining how Prince agreed to write and record this track with her. Apparently she called him and he came into the studio, laid his keyboard tracks down in one take and in 20minutes left the building. She went on to say when they play this song live she uses two keyboardists. She said he was the greatest musician she had ever met.
The studio engineer verified the Prince story as absolutely true.
Prince was a badass.
Released on May 19th, 1983. 41 years and 2 days ago. What a powerful song.

The prodigy son of Minnesota came to studio and in less than 24 hrs. He makes up the synth and the rest is History! A classic and beautiful song so structured and balance. Totally 80s !
She told the story of how Prince is playing the keyboard, synthesizer, and a little guitar in this song. How awesome is that?💜
He took 50% of the royalties because its based on little red corvette
Love it!! 💜💜💜💜
I knew there was a reason I liked this song!!!! 🤩

I love the story of how this song was written. Stevie was on her way to her honeymoon and heard Prince's "Little Red Corvette" on the radio and was immediately inspired to write this song. She detoured from her honeymoon to get into the recording studio and got Prince's number. They had never met. She called him and told him that she was working on a song inspired by his "Little Red Corvette" and that she was giving him 50% of the royalties for the song if it ever became successful. She asked him what he was doing right that moment and if he could come into the studio to play on the recording. He said yes and was there in 20 mins. He worked on it and played on it in the studio with Stevie and her crew for about an hour and a half, and this is the result. Pretty great stuff.
😘😎😄🖤💚💙💜❤💛
Have you tripped that the percussive keyboard part he wrote for her eerily resembles the lead percussive riff of "I would Die 4 U...🤔" inverted. 😀
Wow, I never knew that. Amazing!

Predicatable and commercial In retrospect the self-title "Fleetwood Mac" (1975) in the post-Green, Welch, era. With "Rumours", which doesn't hold up today as "Fleetwood Mac" does, they achieved both critical and commercial success. After that, they gravitated more and more to the commercial.

*Stand back*
[Verse 1]
No one looked as I walked by
Just an invitation would have been just fine
Said no to him again and again
First, he took my heart, then he ran
No one knows how I feel
What I say, unless you read between my lines
One man walked away from me
First he took my hand
Take me home
[Chorus]
Stand back, stand back
In the middle of my room, I did not hear from you
It's alright, it's alright
To be standing in a line (Standing in a line)
To be standing in a line
I would cry
[Post-Chorus]
La la la la la la la la la
La la
La la la la la
[Verse 2]
Do not turn away my friend
Like a willow, I can bend
No man calls my name
No man came
So, I walked on down, away from you
Maybe your attention was more than you could do
One man did not call
He asked me for my love, and that was all
[Chorus]
Stand back, stand back
In the middle of my room, I did not hear from you
It's alright, it's alright
To be standing in a line (Standing in a line)
To be standing in a line
I would cry
[Post-Chorus]
La la la la la la la la la
La la
La la la la la la la
Doo-doo, doo-doo
La la la la la la la la la
La la la la
La la la la la, wo-ah
[Breakdown]
So, I walked, walked down the line, away from you
Maybe your attention was more than I could do
One man did not call
Well, he asked me for my love, that was all
[Chorus]
Stand back, stand back
In the middle of my room, I did not hear from you
It's alright, it's alright
To be standing in a line (Standing in a line)
To be standing in a line
I would cry

Well, I need a little sympathy (Cry)
Well, I need a little sympathy
Well, you could be standing in (Stand back)
Well, you could be standing in (Stand back)
Well, you could be standing in (Stand back)

Damn! I miss the '80's & MTV!!❤😂
January 12, 2024.
Still rocking!!!!!
People have driven the word Iconic into the ground in recent years. They call everything iconic. But Stevie Nicks is truly deserving of the word ICONIC .
She's lasted generations & still amazes us all with her talent & music!!
agree, Most of our ICONs have passed away. The music of the past made ICONS, not everyone is a legend, no matter album sales or award noms. we have very few ICONs left and legends even more so. Todays POPULAR artists won't become legends. Meaning, changing MUSIC, talent and writing and owning their own music and able to play it, write it, produce it, arrange it. ALONE.
RIP Prince Rogers Nelson, Stevie's contributior on this song. Stand back forever in heaven sweet Prince.
I saw an interview years ago about how he came to the studio and didn't say much just made a few adjustments/suggestions and left. I think he could be very shy at times...Precious!
@@jenniferdolson8148 The company my dad works for has vending machines in Paisley Park. Nicest staff of any building he has stopped in. I don't know if those machines are still there, but I saw one painted purple in a newspaper article.
@@fuzer909 I think he appreciated people for good work...he seemed to also know how blessed he was and not everyone gets so financially blessed but hard work got him there...no shame in honest work done well, whether it's filling pop machines well or on a stage...being kind to people shows respect for life and where people find themselves in it...no judgement
jennifer dolson tried asking her out though. He was never shy about trying to get the ladies
I still can’t believe he’s dead. Honestly I’ll never get over that
Ugh I wish the 80s would come back. 😢
Stevie is a force. Thank you God for blessing us with this amazing voice and legend.
My kids heard me playing this song and had the audacity to ask me what do I know about Ms.Stevie Nicks!!!😂
I remember when this song hit the air waves. I was like, Damn, she is amazing.
She was already amazing on Buckingham Nicks ten years earlier 😉
Another GREAT song penned by Price
This song is a classic of the 1980
This is STILL a JAM in 2019! Done way back in 1983! WOWWWW!

Lovin Stevie as a kid back in 83, and lovin her today! One of a kind, and can she ever sing!
