Having worked at a disco as a dancer & being into electronic music gear at that time....this song is mixed using a device called a "sub harmonic synthesizer"....it's made by DBX & it halves the bass frequencies & reinserts them back into the track. Very very few songs are mixed with this device, very few individuals sound system can bring out those frequencies....This was the time when engineers developed low frequency effects, such as "Sensurround", another differing bass enhancing technology.

Shows just out of touch the company executives are - generally speaking - with the people they are marketing their product to. Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody springs to mind - EMI did NOT want to release that, and wanted it dropped entirely, and it went on to be one of the all-time defining songs, not just for Queen, but for an entire generation.

Hiya Jeff its Aimee I miss the 80s so much and Madonna was an icon and I have all of her videos and I saw her concert in 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour! I do remember the 80s and thats when people had jobs and Tower Records was there and that was my favorite story ever until it went out of business and so did Virgin Records, and I used to love music back then and I still do! Many pop songs from the last 3 years have incorporated similar moogish synth basslines, remiscent of that of a variety of 80`s songs, including Into The Groove.
I took my son to see Madonna at the Pontiac Silverdome, when he was 11 years old. In his profession, he met her a few times. He loved her until he died October 14, 2023. He was supposed to attend her rescheduled concert here in Michigan this month. He will be there in spirit.

It literally felt euphoric dancing to this song (this version too mind you, not the Immaculate version). This is undoubtedly one of the all time greatest pop songs.
Her vocal capabilities are demonstrated perfectly in this song, a perfect mix of bouncing up and down her range paired with her excellent control of vibrato, I had a massive crush on her when I was a child simply due to the sound of her voice.
Well she wasn't a vocal prodigy by any means. She was good enough for dance pop tracks but her strengths lie in her super strong ambition and will to come on top at any cost. She could be compared to Jennifer Lopez in that regard.

2023. STILL A JAM. This past weekend, an impromptu dance floor formed at a bar in Berlin when the DJ put this song on around 1 am. Keep in mind there was no dancefloor in this bar, just spontaneous. Really speaks to how timeless this song is. And I'm not even a huge Madonna fan.

True, her Mother was an OK Enka singer, and her dad produced her mother's music in the 1970's, but Utada took it to a whole new level.
She wrote huge chunks of the video game music for Final Fantasy 8, and Kingdom of Hearts franchise. And I don't mean lyrics only either. She Wrote the actual sheet music.
