    BREAKFAST SAUSAGE PATTIES RECIPE
    (makes 15 patties)
    Ingredients:
    3 cups cooked beans (520g)
    1/2 cup rolled oats (45g)
    3 tbsp ground oats
    3 tbsp flaxseed meal
    1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce (65g)
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp black pepper
    1/2 tsp garlic powder
    1/2 tsp onion powder
    1/2 tsp paprika
    1/2 tsp dried thyme
    NUTRITIONAL INFO (per patty):
    72 calories, fat 0.9g, carb 12.5g, protein 3.9g
    Preparation:
First, in a bowl add cooked beans and mash them with a fork.
Add all the other ingredients and using a hand mix everything until well combined. Let it chill in the fridge for 30 minutes to an hour, for oats and flaxseed to hydrate.
Using your hands shape the smaller-size patties.
Heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat and fry the patties for about 4 minutes on each side, until nicely browned and crispy.
Serve with eggs, pancakes or whole grain toast.
    Enjoy!

Ha, you made what Yoruba (Nigerians) make minus the oats and applesauce, but mainly with blackeye peas for breakfast also known as akara. We do it a little differently but same fry seasoned beans in oil principle. No pork in our diet!

Love the idea of making the vean fritters this way, just checked out for akara online, never thought about blending the beans before making the dough or batter in this case, I would only rather shallow fry it like pancakes.

Sasha, I just don't know how you keep coming up with these amazing ideas. I would never have thought of using beans to make breakfast sausage and, quite frankly, just stopped eating it altogether since it was so unhealthy. This looks like an incredible way to make breakfast or lunch--maybe even dinner--more interesting and more healthy. I've added pinto beans to my shopping list (as I only have black beans in the cupboard right now). Thank you SO much. You are our #1 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐UA-cam Chef! 💖

Hi there dear Lauren, I can see you made a multiple good decisions when it comes to your diet, regular breakfast sausages are definitely something we shouldn't put on our shoping list. If I want pork sausages I would rather make my own using some fennel seeds and wine, to make it Italian... I'm not a vegetarian, but I try to eat less meat in general, so beans patties, lentil patties or falafel are in my regular rotation. So glad you're going to give it a try with this recipe and thanks so much for sending over your lovely stars, it means so much to me! Take care!

@@HowToCookSmarter I am trying to go 85-98% plant based eating. Told no more pepperoni, brats, sausages, scrapple, hot dogs, etc.. (I'm sausage, hot dog nut ..since just quick and fast) I have been eating carrot dogs... what I'd like is an oat based batter to make corn carrot dogs, or something like cheese sticks, poppers, or onion rings etc. I haven't yet gone through all your video, binged a few, but I am sure you have something, I just haven't run across it yet. If not, Any ideas on how to do such bit more Oat flour, quinoa flour, etc. I have potato and tapioca starches, rice flour, apple& coconut flour of all things... no spelt, Hungarian high altitude wheat flour and an all purpose flour. Massa harina and corn...
