One thing cool about Nicholson's Joker is that even after being down and battered by Batman he still manages to employ his Joker bag of tricks like the fake teeth, eyeglasses & fake arm. This is classic trickster Joker.
@@JohnDoe-gk7ok Ledger had comedy bro it was there in the way he walked and did stuff like grab hand santizer, he made a few jokes but most of it was physical comedy. I mean Jack REALLY had a TON of jokes so yeah.
@boulderguy888 why? Hamill's (in TAS) was an evil mobster turned madman. Pure evil. Kevin Michael Richardson's Joker is just insane.
Kevin's my second favorite. My first is Cameron Monaghan.
Hi my love
To be fair, ledger joker did admit his jokes weren't so good during his entrance
Im the 666th like
I like how Joker didn't even take the whole fight serious. Just cracking jokes and pulling gags the whole time.
"As my plastic surgeon always said, if you've *got* to go, go with a *smile* !!!"
It's more because he KNEW he couldn't beat him in a physical fight
Well, it's The JOKER 😆
And let be honest, there's no way he stand a chance against Batman.
,,,,,,.....and Batman is more youngest than The Joker , but well joker is the most supervillain has no need superpowers ! He would be a genius of crime, electric traps and bombs!!
That's the Joker what did you expected?
“I made you? You made me first!”
The most underrated line in the whole film. Very powerful.
Basically, look what you made me become!
Except this has nothing to do with Batman canon and contradicts his character is a peaceful, non-revenge oriented hero
Edit: Guys, this comment is from 4 years ago and I don’t stand by it anymore lol. I’m not gonna dirty delete it but you don’t gotta prove me wrong anymore 😂
Actually, it is very accurate to Batman canon. This is INCREDIBLY close to many of his characterizations in the comics, and I would never call Batman "peace-loving" necessarily. He protects the innocent & helpless, but quite literally "wars" on all criminals.
No, dummy... He made Batsy. So many idiots liked your peasant mind. No surprise. Most ppl are pea brained. 😒
but it wasn't Joker who killed Bruce's parents, it was Joe Chill, total different person.
@@weedingadmiral9431 In certain timelines
In case people are wondering. When Batman first confronts Joker here, he uses his normal Bruce Wayne voice. He wanted Joker to know who he was before he killed him.
Bingo. And he does know that's why he says "I was only a kid when I killed your parents"....
Plus adding to the fact that Bruce used the phrase "You ever dance in the pale moonlight?" Given how Jack says he says that to all his "prey"
I think that short exhale and his questioning at 1:00 must be Jack putting the pieces together.

My favourite movie. Since 1989 when I was three. Never put this together somehow.
That's why many people hate this movie.

I love Nicholson gets more and more manic as the film goes on. He starts off crazy and just gets more insane
Joker's batshit crazy
As an 8 year old watching this movie in theaters rooting for the joker, I didn’t care for the ending. Was very sad 😂
Well- shooting his old boss dead (Carl Grissom) and a few minutes later planning that the city "got a load of him" seems to me a hard start after all, so I don't think that he grows more and more insane. I think that he always remains the same.
@@Alantheleopard I mostly mean in the way that in a lot of it he’s charismatic, calmed and occasionally laughs a bit, but getting into the end here, he just loses all composure and starts cackling like Vincent Price in Thriller, particularly when he’s hanging off the side of the tower.
@@Gogetta80 yeh I always thought for such a perfect film killing the joker off was pretty dumb, there was easily enough room for a second movie to culminate a second sensational episode of the two foes.
I like how Michael Keaton can be so intimidating by just speaking softly in his normal voice.
that's why he's my favorite Batman.
He is my favourite Batman and it was his idea to have a different voice as Batman.

Its certainly super strength. Even how he decides that he will start climbing the ladder before its reached his feet, so he will be doing chin ups on several of the rungs, then the jokers strength on how he is able to hold on that ladder for so long with stone that is heavier than the balls they use in the Strongman Contests. One thing that shows Tim Burton was ahead of his time was how he failed to “date” this movie. Based on the look of Gotham, the cloths and cars, this movie had no set time so it can never be dated. It is a comic book movie that can be enjoyed 30 years later and doesn’t feel old.

Grotesque* ..not a gargoyle.
I like that, given the fact that the Joker still calls Bruce bat brain, he actually doesn’t realize who Batman is, but still says that he was a kid when he killed his parents. Implying that he left so many kids orphaned when he was young that he can’t even keep track anymore. This Joker truly is a monster.
Yeah I was wondering what he meant? He doesn’t know that Bruce Wayne is Batman. But here he clearly acts like he knows the exact parental double murder he’s referring to. It’s also not credible that he was a mobster that killed many parents BEFORE he became joker.
I always thought Joker had realised Batman is Bruce Wayne, since Batman said the same line back to him that Joker had said to Bruce. I see now that he may not have known, remembering that after he said it to Bruce, he then said "I always say that to all my victims"
He was 26 when he killed Bruce's parents.
Bob didn’t know who Bruce Wayne was at first referring to him as “some guy named Wayne.” Bruce Wayne being a high profile billionaire in Gotham and Bob didn’t know who he was? Lol
@@cyrus7241 I believe initially the Joker was unaware of who Batman was or what he was talking about but likewise put two and two together to remember the wealthy couple young Jack Napier shot in cold blood as a low-level street hood and connected mafioso associate up and coming decades before he worked his way up the ladder in the Gotham City mafia crime syndicate run by late former Don Carl Grissom and became a made man/member, high ranking mafioso soldier, pro hitman, top enforcer and underboss under Carl Grissom years after Jack Napier shot the Waynes in front of eight year old Bruce Wayne. When the Joker said, "I was just a kid when I killed your parents, " I believe the Joker realized that both Bruce Wayne was Batman and that Bruce/Batman was the orphaned sole surviving child of the wealthy couple Jack and his accomplice mugger, Joe Chill, the triggerman in the Wayne murders in the comics and Nolan's Dark Knight remake trilogy, but a mere accomplice mugger and low-level street thug and associate to Jack in Burton's original 89 Batman.

@Sean Oliver It's actually an old meme from at least the '50s.

This was personal tho
He fit the original Batman that wasn’t afraid to put those down who needed to be put down.
It’s a different interpretation and I love it, we can’t always have the same “I don’t kill” Batman or it’ll get stale. Many say “well you don’t understand the character!” He changed and everything always does so enjoy what you can and have fun
Considering Batman almost kills Joe Chill in every adaptation where they meet, combining Chill with Joker means Batman doesn't feel any guilt about smiting Joker in this continuity.

That's why it was so powerful. Batman has a strict code and disciplines himself with how he deals with criminals. With the Joker, there were no rules. The Joker was the be-all-and-end-all of his pain. End The Joker and free the world from torment.
But did killing Joker truly end Bruce's pain. You can tell in some of the other films that in some ways, he's haunted by what he did, he feels some semblance of shame for taking it that far and that's why he became more disciplined and never went for the kill again.

Damn Batman literally told joker he was going to kill him , and so he did . Keaton's batman was a little crazy lol , I like it
keaton was the absolute shit in this original Batman. So awesome.
@@babymammoth34 He's pretty far off from his comic counter part but I I like how Keaton played batman , doesn't talk much , always the brooding bat
@@markpatjoebilldinousar1111 and Ever so mysterious...
@@markpatjoebilldinousar1111 The first few years of Batman he was much more like other pulp detectives who didn't mind killing the bad guy. His "one rule" was to comply with comic book codes in the 1940s.
@@CountArtha Yea yea yea , same old story everyone knows by now , batman originally killed. I pretty much know everything there is to know about batman , Once in a while someone will hit me with some obscure batman comic or something but the killing thing is pretty much common knowledge
SEEING BATMAN AS MICHAEL KEATON IN THE FLASH MOVIE REALLY BROUGHT DOWN CHILLS DOWN MY SPINE
The only good part of the movie.
@@dannyhernandez265Its More Like The Batman 3 Instead of Flash LMAO
@@Nathaniel_PH55 true. Lmao. They had to get Michael Keaton just so people would have just a slight interest in it.
I don’t know why but Joker being punched into the bell always has me dying
Me to that part have me crying laughing every time 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haha same here.
Batman had just endured a brutal beating minutes prior.
Joker's ass deserved that shit.
LMAO.
I love the sound he makes when Batman nails him in the gut. This whole fight is awesome. Batman is out for blood and Joker is just absorbing blows and cracking jokes while waiting for an opportunity to outwit Bats.
Joker: “What are you laughin’ at?!”
Gargoyle: “You’ll see 😈”
"I'm going to kill you:.
"You...IDIOT! You made me, remember? You dropped me in that vat of chemicals".
0:23 The frown on Bruce's face indicates he does feel some guilt for not saving him.
The Joker Killed his parents Batman didn't give a damn about dropping him into the vat of chemicals he came to avenge his dead parents
Batman felt guilt was the damage done by the Joker could have been prevented if he had saved him.
Am I the only one who's favorite Joker is Jack Nicholson and this my favorite Batman movie?
Nope... He my favorite Joker too. Most accurate Joker straight from the Batman Animated Series. He is the best Joker. Looks, hair ,suit and goofy. He is Joker 🃏🃏 🃏
No, you are not.
@8bit NES Cutscene Why u here then?
@@Waffen-id9gn he never said he disagreed
@8bit NES Cutscene perfect answer to a shitty question
Interesting trivia: As we all know, Jokers skin was bleached chalk white from the vat of chemicals. If you watch closely in some shots (1:23) his wrists are seen under his purple gloves. In order to make Jacks arms look the same as the makeup, he wore white long gloves under the purple gloves to give off the illusion his skin was white. This would save some time in makeup. The only time we ever see his hands white with makeup and green finger nails is when his hand comes out of the chemicals and when he's applying makeup to his face to hide his white skin.
I felt that struggle at not letting go at 3:47
*That's a good Batman. Where he beats up criminals and doesn't have that code of honor just to arrest in a city like Gotham. And this is a good Joker, where he is sadistic, scary and at the same time funny in a caricature way. Besides not being a victim. Keaton and Nicholson are legendary.*
2 of the best actors of their time
Sounds familiar, even though most people misunderstand him so much. Of course to me, Affleck's a much better Batman. He actually brought the true version of Batman, of the Arkhamverse to the screen. Even without the moral code.
Compare to Ledger and Bale dynamic?
@@theepicone9995 Untouchable dynamic but I do prefer Keaton and Nicholson as the definitive comic take (with some relation in their and no fear to murder) while Bale and Ledger are definitive film versions, nobody will ever top those two going at it
I saw this in theaters when I was 9, and as a kid, this was the scariest Joker by far. He was a ultra violent madman that would make jokes with smoldering corpses, mass murder entire crowds while laughing, and employ tricks and gags while doing it all. The poison scenes where the peoples faces would contort into Joker smiles as they died laughing scared the hell out of me as a kid, still my favorite batman movie.
I love this version of the joker by Jack Nicholson.
Same here.
We all do
Me too
He paved the way. Highest death toll, most hilarious one liners, all while maintaining an insane level of madness. I love Heath and Joaquin but ..... this is just so perfect.
Also I know it’s not a popular opinion but I thought Keaton’s version of Bruce was far superior to Bale’s.... Bale was basically just a sane, drunker, Patrick Bateman.
"When I say I made you, you've gotta say you made me. How childish can you get?" Oh that line kills me .
3:56 wow that fall REALLY doesn't hold up!!
I'm surprised for this re-issue with the new filter that they didn't re-do this special effect. Even back then, they were so lucky to get away with it! I also found the very first shot of the animated Batman (After the family get mugged and the wife screams) on the rooftop cringeworthy.
@@mikeshirleyforever I know and they even added new sound effects!!
Should of showed the mouth of the statue laughing

Joker: “you wouldn’t hit a guy with glasses would you?”
Batman: *hits a guy with glasses*
Could Jeremiah Valeska be referencing Jack Nicholson's Joker? I mean they look SIMILAR, ACT SIMILAR. And THE GLASSES THAT THEY WORE LOOK SIMILAR!!!!
The glasses bit is already funny because of how even Joker knew it wasn't gonna work but I love the implication that he just carries them around in case he feels like pulling that gag on someone that wants to kill him.

Joker: Tik tik tik tik tik...ohhhh!
1:08 joker sounds like the cowardly lion of wizard of oz pmsl
At 0:59 that " what are you talking about" always gets me for some reason 😂😂😂
I love this batman. He tells him straight up "I'm gonna kill you" and then fucking murders him. He even hit him while he was wearing glasses. Brutal.
I love this batman my first batman movie when I was kid.
One of my absolute favorite things about the Batman franchise is the reversed aesthetic between the hero and villain - the main villain is bright, lush, jovial colors while the hero is dark, shadowy, with "bat ears" that are reminiscent of horns. Gives the whole story a dark quirky atmosphere that's amazing
Considering that brutal beating Batman had just endured minutes prior; that initial haymaker that sends Joker bouncing off the bell and directly into another face smasher never gets old.
LMAO.
I know right? The beatdown from the Ray Charles lookalike musclehead street brawler goon probably gave Batman a second wind of rage plus the fury of finally getting his hands on the Joker for The Joker/Jack Napier in his prime killing Bruce's parents. The Joker just wasn't as physically strong, built or as tough and capable as his top fighter and toughest, strongest goon Batman Batman fought. Jack Napier may have been a mob enforcer and a good bruiser against your average man and thugs like himself but no match for a martial arts expert like Bruce/Batman.
@@castortroy7704 batman is also wearing a protective suit of armor tho
Even though the final battle between Joker and Batman in TDK is much more intense, Joker having no shot against Batman in a fight is definitely more realistic.
Except he does put up a fight in the comics
It would have been cool if the Joker had his electro buzzer and used in the fight .
Who wants the main villain to be a pushover? Loved the fight at end of dark knight. Joker let Batman have it for a bit as payback for the beatdown in the interrogation room
