In October 2022 I removed the injectors from my Suzuki GV (with the Renault 1.9 engine) and having unscrewed a couple of the needle ends so as to clean the five holes, I was perplexed as to how to re-assemble the parts and was unaware that the tip is separate from the holder because it was so gummed up with carbon. I drove to three diesel specialists asking how to reassemble them and was told “You’ll have to part exchange them and pay £165 GBP for each.” I came home feeling very depressed and then found the answer in this video. Thanks for saving me a lot of cash.

THAT was absolutely Brilliant!!!! My only negative feedback is that on another video it stated to make sure your working area is 'Meticulously' clean, and they stressed how important that is. Almost clean room clean for working on injectors. I have the injectors you showed so this is perfect for me. Thank you. Again, Excellent video.

I appreciate your video. I've cleaned VW and other injectors with an home style denture ultrasonic cleaner - works great! . Water and soap is all I find it needs. A few seconds will knock the big stuff off. I usually hit them with about 30 minutes or so. LUBE THEM RIGHT AFTER REMOVAL (or they will micro rust). In reassembly I flush them liberally with clean diesel fuel or cheap spray can penetrating oil. I don't recommend using a wire on the holes as it can mess up the spray pattern . The pintle pin should float in the bore with no friction,. - Be careful not to let it fall out ! Keep every thing VERY clean and flush with diesel while assembling.

Finally, I found a video that clearly shows how to disassemble, clean, and assemble a fuel injector (diesel injector). For the lack of parts name knowledge I would just say there are a two part nut base (one part to connect to the fuel port: the half part which houses the device with two circular alignment tab pins and the other half is used to house the injector needle), and a needle that atomized the fuel. I would hazard a guess that when the diesel fuel is under pressure it comes out through the needle as a vapor (atomized). The needle houses the pin, meaning there is a pin inside the needle, right? So the pin inside the needle controls the fuel delivery by moving up to plug the holes and moving down to let fuel pass. Right? Excellent video. 33 foot pound to tighten the nut of this certain diesel fuel injector using a TORQUE WRENCH. Wonderful, thank you so much for your time and sharing it with us.

I love these diy videos. I dared to touch one of my common rail injectors on the electrical side because it was leaking from there. I didn't know where to put the small ball that was on top of the actuator and had to send it to the shop. They fixed it up but it's still leaking. This video gives me a lot of confidence, will definitely do this sometime.

    WHAT A COOL VIDEO!!!
Thank you SO much for this!
I took my 20-year-old Mercedes to an "Injector Specialist" 3 years ago, who cleaned all 6 injectors for 400 Euros, that's about 442 US Dollars.
Now, after watching your video 3 times, I'll do it myself. Although I'm a "machinist technician" I never dealt with injectors, I always thought it's a something very-very sensible thing,
After watching your video, I will do it this (like you in your video) at the weekend myself, for sure,
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Over here in Hungary, we don't have that cleaner, but I bought it on Amazon for 35 US Dollars incl. shipping, it will arrive tomorrow :-) I'm sooooo excited.
    Thank you once again!!!
That "specialist" told me a fairytale about injectors.... "there are 2 very small balls inside it when you disassemble it, you may damage it, that's at least 1200 bucks for 6 injectors, etc..."
Andeson, you're great, thanks a lot for this VERY DETAILED video, I can't thank you enough!!!
I always get comments on my channel, that I speak and talk too much in detail, but you're my man, the truth is always in the small little details...
What's the worse thing? I have to buy new injectors. But I don't care. You just empowered me :-)
Now I don't even care if it gets broken, I'll try to do the same you did.
If it gets broken I'll buy a new set, but it is definitely worth a try.
    Really Anderson, THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Thanks, this was very useful. You would be wise to keeps those solvents off your skin. They actually soak right through your skin and can have long range effects to you nervous system. The thinner stuff goes right through your gloves as well so I usually hold whatever I'm cleaning with long pliers. Just a tip. Thanks for making this video.

Most solvents are potentially dangerous but the really effective (but really nasty) stuff eg 111 trichloroethane and carbon tetrachloride are no longer available.
However biodiesel is safe and a very effective solvent. There are many recipes on www. You can make a litre in a soda bottle. Just mix, shake and leave to settle.

AWESOME! Very informative video. If anybody knows what torch tip cleaners are I highly recommend a set of them because there is different size wires in there and it is the perfect carbator tool. Not only will clean carbs but any thing mechanical that has small holes that's got to be cleaned. Can buy from any wielding supply store. 😁

    • @Dave5843-d9m
      @Dave5843-d9m 2 роки тому

You can pick up carburettor jet cleaning kits for very little cost on eBay. But you must use a solvent because any seeds of carbon will move back down and clog the spray tip all over again.

The proper way to do it is to drop the injectors into an Ultrasonic bath of diesel and detergent for an hour or two (overnight for the really bad ones), give them a rinse and you should be ready to go.

I was waiting for that comment. In general yes it is the way to open them but a steel wire in the holes and a steel wire brush are a big no no....
Yes and you have to dismantle them when cleaning with a ultra sonic cleaner. As well use nitrile gloves and a lubricant when touching them. Sweaty fingers can course corrosion!

I KNOW we have shit Diesel quality in Australia so this HAS to be the cause.. the injectors are AUD$550 ea.. so I will DEFINITELY be doing this to each and every one..! Thank You so much!! BTW> We definitely have CRC Brake cleaner.. but the other stuff is a quandary.. what's the base ingredient? (If it says to on the can!)

We resurrected the injectors and they were ALL saveable.. two of them blocked (friggin hard to see) but unblocked the tiny hoes , blew back with air by electronically opening the injector.. you should have seen the shit that came out.. we have now installed a secondary filer and gromerlator.

Are those electrical (Delphi I )? - I'm afraid to throw money, I'm going to plug them in when they're out, 1 is bad, 2 I don't know. And put them back to their cylinders (teach-in). Iron filings from the vane pump could also be used, no additives will clean that. So they have to split up to clean. Thanks for your video.

i would try to use a copper wire strand instead; the steel you used is a hard steel bristle, and it may have messed up one hole,we can see it spraying differently than the other four; but then again, in this case copper probably would not have done it...

Cool! I like fixing things if at all possible, if they have any life left in them.
Right now Im fixing a siezed up air compressor off a wheel barrow compressor.
The thing had sat for years tucked away in the shop and wasn't used because a hole had rusted into the bottom of one of the tanks. I fixed the hole with acetylene welding and cleaned out the fuel system to get the engine running again.
The twin cylinder compressor ran very strong and would do 160 psi with ease so I liked having it on my work trailer. It would actually run a 1 inch tire gun just enough to take a truck tire off.
The compressor was low on oil apparently which Id never thought to check and one day while running it on a 16 degree Farenheit day for just a few minutes before the compressor sadly locked up and came to a screeching halt.
It has set for 3 years now taken apart and I got the idea that I would file the gaulding off the crank and recondition the rods with a brake hone. And what do you know? I have it back together now with smooth working rods and crank.
I liked the compressor especially because I got it off the shelf and gave it life again. I gave it back its purpose. I made a place for it on my trailer. And I'm fixing to do it again.😎🙂
