@@daniellenner813 Siemens / Continental injectors have a very small gap set between the injector solenoid and body, this gap is measured in micrometers, for your injector it is 0.3µm ± 1.3µm. You should never take off the soloenoid from a continental injector unless you have tools to measure this gap (I use an Opensystems Megatester V4). As for opening the nozzle side, you will change how the injector works ever so slightly meaning your calibration code will no longer be valid, however sometimes you can get away with this depending on how worn everything is.

Well, after cleaning all 4 injectors nozzles, swapping #3 & #4 injector cylinders, reprogramming the computer, and clearing the codes, the fault has not come back and the car runs great. This is definitely a great practice to add to your maintenance schedule. I'm just wondering why my original injectors lasted 130,000 miles ( and failed due to a bad CP4 high pressure fuel pump) while my Bosch replacements got clogged after 1 year of service? Bad fuel? However I am 75, And as I did the job for a friend I am unable to find a price that I can charge them for doing the nasty job. A lot of lads on utube do the work but never say how much it costs. cheers a nice video and well presented too. bye.
I worked in a factory making injectors for ,11 years and can tell you that its impossible to do the job properly at home. Yes you can strip and clean them but you cant reset opening pressure which WILL change as soon as you dismantle the injector, you cant check the spray pattern properly and you cant check wetseat or backleak time. You need very special very high pressure expensive equipment to do any of that.
I believe with a common rail system, you are using the electrical connector to open the injector. Furthermore, the PCM can smooth out idle pulses by watching the change in rpm as each injector is fired. During acceleration, the smoothing doesn't matter anymore and the watches other inputs such as rail pressure, boost pressure and the air fuel ratio at the exhaust plus temperatures. Modern Diesel design and computer control systems allow for fine adjustments. Due to manufacturing variations, auto makers have several programs to fix injector imbalances on all gas and diesel engines. Cleaning the injectors at home will improve their flow and spray pattern. The tip does wear over time allowing more fuel to flow than set at the factory but the automakers have a mileage adjustment as well in their fuel calculation.
I work in the trade since the late 1970s and I never ever saw the opening pressure of an injector change drastically after dis- and reassembly. If you put the tips in the same injector body they came out of, you will be fine in 99,9% of the cases. I also think it is much better to drive with a cleaned injector which is a few bars off than drive with a carboned up and leaking one.
The best way after cleaning is just put injector on bosch maschine to generate new ima code. Thats all. Then injector can working totaly properly. Of course when is not damaged. New ima is ~20$ pro pice

I love the video, that's exactly what I was looking for. thank you for such all around beautiful video. Questions: what kind of ultrasonic liquid did you use? where can I find the torque specs for my Bosch injector? TIA
Hi boss,I have to say a mega video one of the best on the subject of general overhaul of mag-controlled injectors. My question is which threadlocker (medium strength / high strength / heat resistance) do you use? The usual products are resistant up to 300 degrees Celsius - because the temperatures in the combustion chamber are around 900 degrees Celsius! I would be very pleased to receive an answer ... Many greetings
While the combustion chamber temperatures are 900C, the walls of the cylinder aren't that hot, and things further back are even cooler as coolant channels run by them. I'd say 300C sounds a little low for an engine, but it's probably fine, or rather, if your injectors are 300C then you probably have bigger problems than the type of lock-tite you used, that's really really hot.
Really well instructed video, what type of ultrasonic cleaner machine do you use and what solution do you use for cleaning. Thanks Ash from Scotland 🏴
Hi! Got the tank from ebay. Says it has 50w u/s power, 40khz frequency and a 100w heating power at the back. Not sure if it’s really accurate though. Regarding the ultrasonic solution, it’s a custom mix we get from a local supplier here in ph. You can find a lot of them online, just get the ones that are aluminum safe. Thanks for watching :)

If i want to change the nozzle, do i have to adjust it new with adjust washer? Want to upgrade a stock om611 injector with nozzles from a C30AMG. Same injector, other nozzle. Thanks! :)
Short answer: yes... Not all nozzles are built identical, that's why those shims exist... If you do this yourself you can experience a rough idle... But it can be done, the injection angle should be the same...
Dishwasher powder. You can buy special injector cleaning solution for 60 bucks a quart, but according to the safety datasheet that stuff is just caustic soda and detergent. Exactly the same as dishwasher powder. Just be sure to rinse the injectors directly after cleaning them and put them in a cup of diesel fuel immediately. If you don't do that, they will develop surface rust in just a few minutes and then they are basically trash.

Should the injector body not be cleaned as well? Should this resolve noisy injectors on a toyota 1kd engine? Mine sounds like it has a massive diesel knock while driving, 200000km
Basically, all injector calibration codes are inputted in the ECU from the factory. These codes help the ECU determine the specific output flow of each injector as no injector is exactly identical. Now, wear and tear or repairs such as replacing some injector internals with bnew ones will give a different output than the programmed data in the ECU. This scenario requires a special machine such as Hartridge Injector Calibrators to generate new calibration codes for each injector then you can input these codes in the ECU using a scantool with an Injector Coding function. If you just cleaned the internals like we did in this video and didn't notice any loss of power and high fuel consumption afterwards then you're fine. But if you did, It's best to bring your unit to a calibration shop that can test/read and generate new calibration codes for your injector.
@@btdgarage Hi, thanks for very detailed explanation!!! it is very clear now!! another question and last one is if is necessary to ANNEAL the washers under the injectors before mounting or not? Thanks again :-)
If you have had a catastrophic HPFP failure on a vw 3.0L CATA 2011 Touareg are the injectors salvageable? Can I clean them and reuse them or are they scarp? Do the aluminum particles from the HPFP do damage to the injectors that can't be fixed?
It depends on how long you were still running the engine after the HPFP was shot. Try to check the fuel rail and pipes first for debris. If you find any, it’s best to bring the injectors to a professional who can fully take it apart and run it on a bench test machine.
Will it help if my turbodiesel smokes black on acceleration? Everything else is checked. The mileage is 265.000 km and I believe the injectors were never out of the engine.
Yes it might. If not, best to have them tested at a reputable shop. You might also want to check your turbo and air intake system since you’re getting black smoke, you might be running rich, too much fuel, lack of air.
I have a question my needle doesn't want to go back. During disassembly it came out very easy now it seize right at the begining. I put the head back for another 30 minutes of ultrasonic cleaning hoping that there is a small dirt. But still doesn't go in. Would it be a problem if I force it? Does this need to be moving once it's assembled ?
Hi, great video very detailed and clear, would this process work with a 1.6 Tdi Fuel Injector Unit 03L130277S made by Continental. These new are approx. £450, so would love to be able to clean my old injectors if possible. Any help and advice would be most appreciated thank you
Probably you’re the only person can answer my problem… So my injectors were very noisy (knocking sound), when engine was could was ok but after was worming up was making loads of noise and the engine idle was not smooth. I’ve followed your video by the book, and I must say that the injectors act completely as new, no knocking sound at all, amazing while driving, probably the smoothest time this engine run. The only problem now is that all this hold for 1 day, the knocking sound starter to get worse hour by hour up to the point that it get back to where it was. Now when warms up is noisy and the idle is irregular. What I’m missing? Are these injectors unrepaireble? Do I deal with some other issue? Might be the the fuel/tank is contaminated? Insignia 1.6 180k miles, mounts Denso 55570012
Please your information - what minimum power in Watts and frequency in kHz must an ultrasonic cleaner have to reliably clean the injection valves, nozzles ? Thank you for your answer in advance.
If you rinse and oil the parts IMMEDIATELY after taking them out of the cleaner, dishwasher powder in about 60 degrees C water works incredibly well. But you really have to rinse and oil the parts immediately after taking them out of the bath. They will develop surface rust in mere minutes and then they are destroyed.
As you answered the question about taking it to get them calibrated, would I need to know the number codes of 123&4 or does machine find them thanks and great vid tutorial
If you install the tips in the injector bodies they came out of and if you don't mix up the shims in two stage injectors you will be fine. If you mix up the shims for the pilot and main spring, you are fckd, though. Be careful.

Hi there are a number of ultrasonic solutions that you can purchase online. Best to use automotive parts specific which is alloy safe
Amigo tenho um Peugeot 407 2.0 HDI o motor treme mas depois de quente só faz coisa mínima pode ser injetor?
Wow, you deserve a beer for sharing this sorcery. Out of curiosity are these Bosch 110 or 120 series or anything else?
Does it need calibration or something after this cleaning? I want to do this process at home at my Opel 1.9 cdti .
What liquid solution is best to use in ultraosnic cleaner? Seafoam motor treatment ?
Dishwasher powder. You can buy special injector cleaning solution for 60 bucks a quart, but according to the safety datasheet that stuff is just caustic soda and detergent. Exactly the same as dishwasher powder.
Just be sure to rinse the injectors directly after cleaning them and put them in a cup of diesel fuel immediately. If you don't do that, they will develop surface rust in just a few minutes and then they are basically trash.
Hi my sylinder 4 injector spraying to much fuel diesel . What help ? Change mabe ? Thank you
It needs reconditioning or better to buy a brand new one.
What solution is in the bath? And what's the liquid are the parts in for assembly? Thanks
What is an Ultrasonic? How it works? Can you explaine? And how long time need to wash injectors? One hour, two??
I put the whole injector in the ultrasonic cleaner with injector cleaner and its ok !
Nice!
But your professionalism is truly on another level ! keep up the great work BTD Garage

Do the injector work properly after
Repair
I have an issue with the injector of my Volkswagen diesel car
Should I go for repair or replacement
Where the o-ring needs to be replaced? Is that the overflow pipe or anywhere else? How are the delivery high pressure pipes sealed?
Good work
Thanks!
It was very relaxing and informative, Thank you. Greetings from Turkey

Your the best, very very good video.
One of the best vids on YT on this topic - and you even include the 50 Ft Lbs torque value! Thanks!
Unfortunately the music was so annoying I shot my dog. What do I tell my kids now?
You tell the kids, “I’m sorry I couldn’t figure out how to operate a mute button, and when trying to shoot myself in the face, the bullet ricocheted off the mirror, and hit the dog.

Brilliant.
What type / size of engine do they belong to?
Being that big I believe it’s got to be a truck‘s.
Same size as my Audi A3 1.6 tdi
Great advice!
What kind solution do you use. thank you
Should the injector body not be cleaned as well? Should this resolve noisy injectors on a toyota 1kd engine? Mine sounds like it has a massive diesel knock while driving, 200000km
best on UA-cam
Hi great video! is it necessary to adjust the injector on a special machine after this cleaning? thanks!
@@martintoman6266 Thanks Martin! Annealing the washers isn't necessary but also not a bad idea if done properly.
How effective are LIQUI MOLY injector cleaners if used every 3-6 months?
If you have had a catastrophic HPFP failure on a vw 3.0L CATA 2011 Touareg are the injectors salvageable? Can I clean them and reuse them or are they scarp? Do the aluminum particles from the HPFP do damage to the injectors that can't be fixed?
It depends on how long you were still running the engine after the HPFP was shot. Try to check the fuel rail and pipes first for debris. If you find any, it’s best to bring the injectors to a professional who can fully take it apart and run it on a bench test machine.
Does this help cure the zero quantity adaptation faults like in BMW's?
Very good tutorial video👍
What type of cleaning fluid do you recommend and is this a high alcalic solution?
Hi, great video very detailed and clear, would this process work with a 1.6 Tdi Fuel Injector Unit 03L130277S made by Continental.
These new are approx. £450, so would love to be able to clean my old injectors if possible.
Any help and advice would be most appreciated thank you
Hi! Continental injectors are more complicated, it’s best to have it serviced by a pro :)
Those things are the curse of VW owners.
I fully agree with that statement @@jeremytodd4906
@@jeremytodd4906 Yes don't l know it,as do thousands of others. My first and last VW
Excellent. Are the shims ok either way up?
After cleaning, do you have to calibrate injectors wen putting em back in?
Great video, how many nm torque for tighten the nozzle? Thx
Hi! 50Ft lbs or 67nm. Thanks!
Would this process also work on Duramax injectors but replacing the nozzles with 30 over?
A great video, a question for all Bosch injectors, is the nozzle tightening torque the same or does it change?
It is 80Nm for the old indirect injection ones and 45Nm (or 30 degrees after seating the collar) for the two-stage TDI injectors.
Might be the the fuel/tank is contaminated?

must an ultrasonic cleaner have to reliably clean the injection valves, nozzles ?
Thank you for your answer in advance.
What type of solvent do u use in the ultrasonic cleaner :) ?
Hello. Is it a concetrated cleaning solution? What do you use for mixing? Water? Thanks.
The machine will generate new codes for your injector. If in case you're buying a new set, use the codes located on top of each injectors. Thanks!
Do the process is the same for high pressure diesel injectors, like Bosch using in VW group CRCA 3.0 TDI engine?
Which type of liquid u used in ultrasound cleaner
What's the torque settings on wrench?
When you get to ughh .
When new injectors are fitted do they need coding on 2010 volvo xc90 diesel
hi, once the cleaning is done, do the injectors have to be calibrated on the test bench?
If you install the tips in the injector bodies they came out of and if you don't mix up the shims in two stage injectors you will be fine. If you mix up the shims for the pilot and main spring, you are fckd, though. Be careful.
