I got "More Than A Feeling" in my top 10 greatest rock songs of all time. Anybody else?
In my top 3.
Yes, and their premier album is my favorite of all time.
Boston. The Greatest Rock N Roll Band. Sickening to think that they are not in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame...
Brad Delp was criminally underrated- his voice got me through my childhood in the 70’s- it was a great time to be alive- best music best movies and kids could still have freedom RIP Brad
everything was better except nixon and carter, music, tv shows, movies and the people were more respectful towards each other in general, the food was actually real food too
Never ever, not ever, no never was Brad Delp underrated!
He sure wasn't underrated when this album came out. The media and fans raved over him and Scholz's songs.
You may not realize that you are listening to one of the very best musical vocals matched to a song in history.......considered tops by many of the experts.
Listen to this band in college 1978 and I still listen to it until now 2024 love it
The vocal range on Brad Delp was unbelievable. Boston's debut was among the first 3 records I ever bought in '77 after hearing this song on the radio constantly the first year it came out. Gigantic song and gigantic debut album where every track was basically a single. I grew up with this stuff known as "classic rock" and knew back 45 years ago that these songs would be played and heard 50 years later and beyond. Nothing today even compares..
I think the coolest moment in the song is when he sings the extended "... she slipped awaaay" and you cant tell where his voice ends and the guitar begins. Just a perfect transition.
Actually the guitar matches his voice and he drops off.
Or the part where he half-smiles right before he gets going, knowing he's about to blow everyone away!
What breath control he had. As a singer myself ( Bass in a gospel group) I really appreciate the effortless transitions AND the holding the notes for what can feel likr forever. Thanks for the reaction Dani.
It's a knife in the heart every time I hear somebody say "music from back then"!😁
Probably because music like this doesn’t exist anymore!
Brad Delp was an amazing singer. He was underrated In Boston’s best days. People are now rediscovering Boston and realizing just how amazing the whole band was. RIP Brad, you definitely set the high bar.
Never ever, not ever, no never was Brad Delp underrated!
Boston is one of the greatest bands in history. Saw them 7 times in concert. This is their debut album, with every single song amazing. Keep em coming Dani. 👍👍
45 years later that song is still my favorite
You know you're old when you remember hearing this song when it was released, and she says, "music before my time."
just listen to the whole first album... there are no bad songs, trust me
The second album would have been great, too, if the record company hadn't been so impatient.
@@TTTT-oc4eb And wasn't it after the second album that Tom Scholz told the label to suck it and did his own thing in his own studio from that point forward?
honestly its kind of weird how good the whole album is - every song is great.
fuckin aye right
Fact. 👆
The BOSTON debut album (released august 26,1976) is one the biggest selling albums in music history. The album was recorded by Tom Scholz in his basement studio. Tom plays all instruments except drums on the album. Brad Delp does ALL vocals. Tom also wrote every song except "let me take you home tonight' written by Brad Delp. Tom also built many effects (the hyperspace pedal, the doubler , power soak and the Rockman amplifier ) to create the legendary Boston guitar sound. The album is a masterpiece from start to finish. It's considered the greatest debut album of all time. I hope you'll give it a listen.
He goes from head voice to chest voice with no transition, his falsetto is flawless.
RIP Brad Delp. He had one of the BEST falsetto voices in rock and roll for sure. The only disappointing thing about this clip is it's an abbreviated version of the studio recording lip-synched to some live footage. It's not the best quality for sound. That entire album is a masterpiece.
Sib Hashian died in 2017 during a performance.
He is top 10 at least!
Dead eh. Sad. Loved their music, hated the facial hair.
He not only had an incredible range, but the smooth, beautiful tone he is able to maintain from chest voice to head voice to falsetto is what has stounded me from the moment I heard him. It's criminal that more people don't mention him in the same breath as Freddy Mercury. Freddy was the better showman, but his pitch was not always so pleasant. From a pure vocal standpoint, I will take Brad's voice every time. He sounds like being taken on a journey to the stars wrapped up in a velvet spaceship.
This song was recorded back in 1975 with technology that we can best described as obsolete and archaic by today's standards. It's all sheer grit and hard work. And you can hear the quality ooze from start to finish. This song scores a 12 out of a scale of 1 to 10.
Yes !!! You'll want to check out Foreplay/Longtime by Boston as well. Nice pick. You'll be surprised to find out how much of that talent really came from one person.
Their debut album is still one of the biggest selling debut albums of all time, in any genre. As Burt Etheridge said. Listen to the entire first album, every song has been played on Rock Radio for 40 years.
This is your new favorite band they have so many hits. Their debut album, practically every song was a huge hit
You never cease to amaze me with your ability to recognize and select great talents Dani !!
I LOVED your comment "how it was based on talent and talent ALONE". So very true. We didn't care about looks, sex, race or sexual identity. (Heart, Hendricks, Bowie, Elton, etc.). When no one called attention to those things it was the music that mattered. Today it's what you represent.
RIP Brad Delp, no autotune just pure talent,
There is not a “filler” song on their self-titled debut album “Boston” of which this was the first song - this one grabs you and it only gets better as you enjoy the ride! This album, still, ranks as one if the very best albums ever recorded in the genre! It is sooooooo goooooood it’s easy to lose sight that it was a debut. Tom created a guitar sound never before heard and the late, great Brad Delp provided soaring vocal strains that were simply incredible. You can’t go wrong reacting to the rest of this legendary album! 👍🏻
hghb
completely agree. Get this album, get someplace where you can lay back, put on the headsets, and just let it go. Ride it to the end and then do a reaction video.
It is such a shame that the in-fighting between the band and their record company limited Boston to only three albums
Boston is a Classic Rock Band in itself. Brad Delp the Lead singer of Boston, knows how to sing and play with great vocal control. The rest of the band brings all the musical instruments and vocals together like a Great master piece. In the video, the Bass player is dancing in his own little world and having a blast doing it! RIP Brad Delp one of the Greatest Lead singer's from the 70's and 80's. Rock On Boston 🤘🤟👊✊🤙
I seen them in concert in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 96. Was a great show
Try checking out "Amanda" by Boston, it's a really good song.
The album Boston is a treasure.
This is an edited lip-synced version. The regular audio version is FAR superior sonically. PEACE OF MIND is a great Boston song with relevant lyrics. Cheers Dani.
God yes.. plz listen to the proper song from an HQ source. This walkie-talkie sound quality video does a horrible disservice to the song, and the second verse it cut out! That thing needs to be pulled from Youtbe.
The best debut album ever! - Total greatness!
Oh also this was done in a Basement studio built by Tom Scholz. This is pure vocal talent. No dubbing no synth or autotune
Hi Dani i likd your new studio nice colours😇🥰thanks again for bringing me back ti hifh school
Saw them live, note perfect !
Cool as hell! I grew up in the 80's and from Boston! Great lyrics back then. Then disco hit and then rap. It was downhill from there.
Man I'll Never Be is on the same level of excellence
Scientifically proven to be the best song ever written and performed.
Great song!! True rock
Saw them in London in the 70s
IMHO, this song has existed for me since it's release and to this day as the single greatest rock song ever. It is so incredibly complex and layered. Thanks for the reaction!
This was the first concert I ever went to in the fall of '78 with a few college buddies. It was in Bloomington, Minnesota and Sammy Hagar (whom I hadn't heard of at that time) warmed up for them. It was a great concert!
Back in the 70s there was a group of us (7 of us and our girlfriends) who use to go see Boston anytime they played within 200 miles of us. I saw Boston in Bristol TN. Charlotte, Raleigh and Greensboro NC and Atlanta, GA
Their whole first album is a masterpiece.
Best debut album in the USA for rock and roll
@@m.o.5137 Tied with Van Halen.
Very special song/singer/band.A LOT of this song had BD's voice"doubled".But he DID have a set of lungs! And Pipes!!I LOVE those high notes(vocal)! He sang em with AUTHORITY!!
Brad delp had a 4 or 5 octave voice, he was incredible RIP Brad. Boston's entire first was destined to be a classic fron the day it was released. It was also the last concert I saw before entering the military.
This album was released the summer I graduated from high school, bought the 8-track and it played quite often until the deck ate it. This whole album is a seventies masterpiece. Tom Shulz wrote most of the songs, arragned the music and engineered the album in his basement studio. At the time he was working as an engineer and did this part time until the group took off.
1976 I was going to Ohio State. Saw them for $3.50 a block from my apartment on high street at the Agora
Ironically the singer Bradly Delp was residing in Atkinson, New Hampshire when he passed away back in the mid 2006 or so. True..... He is greatly missed and one of a kind no doubt.
Fantastic!! Absolute gold!
It was great times back then Dani. I am sure you would have loved it. The world sure has changed. At least the music lives on. Great reaction.
Catching this song was like catching lightening in a bottle, it's pure perfection from start to finish. One of the most played songs of all time on the radio.
loved watching your face when he went high then surprised you by going higher and then sustaining it. This song rocks!
Brad Delp lived just a couple of miles down the road from us in Atkinson, NH. My son just happened to work at the nearby Home Depot and got to speak to him shortly before he committed suicide. He had connected a dryer hose to his car exhaust, but had toyed with the idea of a barbeque in the bathroom. The man was a super star who left us so unexpectedly, as have so many others over the years. RIP.
Rip Brad Delp One of the best voices I've ever heard.
The best part, Dani? The lead guitarist played ALL the music (except the drums), mixed it, then everyone else came in and had to learn it well enough to play it live.
I think it was 1977, I was 13 and ditching school. I had the house to myself and I'd sneak into my sisters room and go thru her record collection. I came across Boston's first album. I was blown away just by the cover and had never heard of them. Side 1, song 1 is More Than A Feeling. It was a gorgeous southern California day, blue sky, etc., I put the album on and couldn't bleev wut I was hearing! Was BLOWN away! Spent the entire morning into afternoon playing this one song. This song can't really be appreciated unless you listen to it from the original studio album. Nice review. You gotta listen to Gonna Hitch A Ride from this same album, side 2.
Dani,
I think you might want to check out
the music of YES: I've Seen All Good People or Roundabout.
My fav song , makes me so happy 😊
I saw Boston on their very first tour open for Foghat at the time..I'm still listening in 2022?...Never saw that happening.
Soaring vocals, soaring guitar. What's not to love?
Brad Delp, criminally underrated vocalist. There are notes in that that are out of Prince/Freddie range there and approaching Mariah Carey range.
Tom Scholz the lead guitarist, was the producer, writer, sound engineer and inventor for this album. He also played all the instruments for the original recordings. Later a drummer was brought in. But the album was pretty much finished when it was brought to the music industry. Tom invented the rock pedal guitar system that is pretty much used now by all modern guitarists. On the Hitch a Ride song from this album during a guitar solo he switches timbre continuously showing off the new guitar pedal. This is also why you never heard garage bands and cover bands doing Boston songs. They could never make the guitars sound right since Tom invented the pedals and did not release the computer codes for the sounds he used for his own songs. So nobody could copy Boston songs, they never sounded right. Brad Delp is an amazing singer and Boston is not the same without him. RIP. Thanks for sharing and great reaction. You should check out every song on the album, literally go down the play list one after another and you will step back in time and hear the album like most of us did the very first time. Chris
RIP Brad. At one time my 3 favorite bands were Rush, Triumph, and Boston. Speaking of Rush, RIP Neil. My wife after 23 years left me and her name is Kimmy Anne so when he says "I see my Mary Anne walking away" I insert Kimmy Anne. Also the song Holly Anne is song that reminds me of my ex and not just because of the name and I do the aforementioned with that song as well. Gotta try Holly Anne by Boston and Cantcha say which is both on the 3rd Stage album.
Dani thank you for reacting to my request, I am glad you enjoyed it and got to see some more of the talent that i grew up listening to,
I was aged 10 when this came out, and remembered it on the radio....thank you Dani for the respect of the song, I loved hearing it again with you, thank you for the memories, my love of classical music came about through listening to guys like Boston, to understand how a D minor key could sound so heart breaking
We're Ready, Cool the Engines and A man I'll never be and Can'tcha say you believe in me to name but a few
Boston was an innovator in how music sounds, they redefined the sound by using computers. Their first album is the standard by which all other rock music should sound. Real 'head-banging' music!
It was all analogg . . . still is . . . . no computers or synthesizers, just amazing Scholz invented tech, production and engineering
No computers, so I call bullshit.
Tom Scholz HATES computers, and is old-school analog all the way. This was made in his basement with old equipment in the 70s. He says he STILL has that tape deck and it still works
Once upon a time TALENT RULED the music world...it was a time BEFORE MTV!!
Check out JOURNEY "Who's crying now?" live in Houston 1981. Then "Mother Father" from same concert.
Listen to the isolated tracks for a REAL treat.
What a beautiful voice Brad Delp had. I love this song.
He was one of a kind……… often imitated, never duplicated.!!👀😎👍🤘👋✌️🇨🇦🎶🌟
It's nice listening to someone who LOVES music and better yet really good music!!!
Great song by Boston and what great vocal range and electric guitar that is off the deep end. I wish you won't stop the video till the end and then give your reaction to the video.
Every song on this LP ROCKS !
My favorite song ever and one of my favorite albums. I was too young when this came out, but man is it a favorite of mine now. Absolutely unbelievable vocals. RIP Brad Delp….
More than a feeling is a absolute perfect rock song .
i swear i have heard this song everyday for the last 2 years i LOVE it so freaking much its legit the most undrated song ever and i swear if they aint in the rock and roll hall of fame i will sue that place legit
Hi Dani, your video just popped into my feed and I love seeing younger musicians and music lovers experience the music I grew up with. I have a lot to say on the subject of rock history and singers more specifically but, I love that you got to experience the late, great Brad Delph. He was one of the earliest male rock vocalist's who did to us what he did to you and that is turn our heads.
We had only just begun to hear men sing rock and roll like this and most of us only knew one or two of these early male vocalist's with radical range and power. It makes me smile to think that you and your generation get the same kick we got. To this day, there are still not that many guys who can sing like this.
All my best to you,
Peter St. John
Hollister, CA
ha! adorable lady! love the song, too!
He could sing, play guitar and look super cool!!
It's nice that you mentioned the talent from back in the day.
This always seemed to be on the car radio on the way home from work, lol.
Contemporary bands at that time the mid 70's were Foghat "Fool for the City",
Led Zeppelin "Nobody's Fault but Mine", Kansas "Dust in the Wind", Jethro Tull "Locomotive Breath".
Last but not least is Deep Purple "Smoke on the Water"..
Magic Video Dani >> from South Africa. Epic Song from my younger days
Always love listening to you beautiful young lady! Your one of my favorite reaction sites! Seen this in concert when it first came out and WOW! And they sound the same in concert!🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸☮️❤️
Dani listen to the longer version I was 9 year's old when this came out 1976 good times back then!!
One of the all-time greatest songs by a band
Imagine listening to this in High School and they are still not in the rock and roll hall of fame.
Great song!
The Beatles broke up in 1970, and this was released in 1976. I think there's a strong influence between them - you can see if you agree when you start reacting to later Beatles songs :). Another memorable song (or pair of songs) by Boston is "Foreplay/Long Time". Enjoying your reactions! Take care.
I miss you Brad Delp I always enjoyed hanging out with you and being in your kind hearted presence. RIP my friend 👍🙏❤️
Brad Delp could hit notes only dogs can pick up on and come running. Not one bad song on that entire album. R.I.P Brad Delp, thanks for the voice and tunes, to rock out to in the car or neighborhood house party!
The first Boston album was released my freshman year in college and it was quickly being cranked all over the dorm.
BAD BOYS FROM BOSTON
Boston... big rock music big, big.
As others have noted, you really don't want to listen to "live" Boston recordings. The genius of Boston happened in Tom Scholz's basement as he played all of the instruments except drums, invented the electronics for the guitar effects, and arranged a perfect debut album that still blows new audiences away nearly 50 years later. Brad Delp's amazing vocals (layered in by Scholz) complete the package. Listen to the whole album -- the sound is consistent, but every song is distinct, and they're all perfection.
Other „Must-React-Boston“ Songs for example: Peace of mind, A man I‘ll never be..., Amanda and so on
Oh you have to check out Smokin' and Feelin' Satisfied by Boston. Brad was unreal in those songs
Hers another bit, the entire studio album aside from one song, was recorded in a basement. An attempt was made to re-record the album in a professional studio but they were unsuccessful in recreating the sound you get from the official studio version. 👍
Great band great reaction. San Diego loves Dani!
I loved your reaction so much, that Im going to subscribe.
This is the abbreviated version of the song and although this is the "official video" for the song the audio is off. I recommend listing to the full version with better audio. The entire first album is amazing. Great songs throughout.
