This song is about 47 years old. One of the greatest rock-n-roll songs of all time. No autotune. The sound was engineered in a basement. Every reaction that I see to new listeners is positive. How can anyone argue with that?
To be fair, it was in a basement that had a studio built by Tom Scholz himself, who happens to be an MIT graduate with a master’s degree in engineering. A basement sort of in the same way that the Batcave is a cave. 😉
@@0okamino Yes, that's my point. Tom Scholz was a genius and he produced something against the odds and the establishment. Cheers, my friend!
And played every instrument on the album I believe. Like Dave Grohl when he started Foo Fighters.
47 years old and still sounds fresh!
Yes Tom was a genius but couldn't sing.....
Enter Brad Delp ✌️🙂
Brad Delp, one of the greatest voices, and front men to every play music. May he rest in peace.
This was from their debut album. Every single song on it was radio played and worthy. For decades, it was the best selling debut album of all time. Today, it remains within the top 5. Legendary band. Definitely go down this rabbit hole. They'll be no regrets!
And this was before any of that auto-tune crap. Pure talent.
One if the greatest rock songs of all time. It’s got everything ❤️❤️
Brad Delph was one of the most under-rated singers, with a spectacular voice and outrageous range.
Great time to be alive, Listen to the entire album its great, GREAT REACTION 👍
Thanks
His voice is amazing, I love Boston and they actually have a lot of great songs out there. I think my favorite is Foreplay/Long Time.
Arena Rock at it's absolute finest! Ya can't go wrong with Boston - musical masters! (RIP Brad Delp)
Brad Delp May he rest in peace had an amazing voice ✌️
Every song on this album is 🔥! Arguably the best first album ever!!!
Smokin' and let me take you home tonight.... Great songs by Boston
Saw them in concert at the Sun Dome in Tampa, FL. in 1995. What a crowd! While waiting for the concert to start, we saw a man with greying hair in his' 50's walk in, wearing a Tux. His date was a stunning blonde in a light blue floor length evening gown with a tiara, diamond earrings/necklace and white elbow length gloves. 10 feet behind them, in walked a woman in her 30's wearing a black bustier, leather short shorts, fishnet stockings, thigh-high boots and black leather gloves. In her hand was a silver chained dog leash. This leash was attach to the collar of the man she was leading in. He was wearing black combat boots, black leather pants, a black leather vest (no shirt), spiked leather dog collar and a full head black leather mask with only breathing holes! I told my friends "This Concert just went to the next level"!! The concert was awesome!
I never saw so many panties thrown onto the stage!!
I had this album on 8-track. I played it so much the 8-track player ate it for lunch. Great music!
Me too
🤣🤣😂😂💯💯👍👍
One of the rock songs ever written my friends.✌️
Point of interest (condensed version)
this entire album was constructed by "1 man." The lead guitarist, Tom Scholz. He wrote every song, played every instrument, and recorded it all in his basement studio. Unheard of for a debut album from a relatively unknown band. He brought in his friend, Brad Delp, to do the vocals. Once he had a demo recorded, he shopped it around, looking for a label to sign them. They all wanted to re-record it in a professional studio, Tom refused. He believed he had the sound exactly as he wanted it.
Eventually, they signed with Epic records. Once the album was released and started charting, they brought in other musicians to form a touring band. The rest is history.
🤘😎
Thanks for the history
@@brandonnshante you're most welcome! It's insane to think about for sure. Lol
Sib Haisan and Jim Meseda played drums on the album. Jim only on "rock n roll" band. Before Epic signed Boston they wanted to see them play the songs live. That's when Barry Goudreau (guitar) and Fran Sheehan (bass) were added to the "live" band in order to do the showcase.. John Boylan (epic producer) brought fran, barry, sib and brad out to LA to record 3 demos as a decoy while Tom recorded the album in his basement . Brad's vocals were done in LA and Tom's basement.
@@brandonnshante ROM Sholz was a MIT grad and invented the effects that made the guitars sound the way they do He started his own company. Rockman that made these toys that changed the guitar sounds for future music
@@jmsdeco The recording in LA weren't "demos" they were tracks used in the album. Boylan was present for for most of the mixing of the album in Tom's basement, he even flew engineers in from LA to show Tom how to properly set up the microphones for recording the acoustic guitar, when he realized Tom was not getting the sound he should have from it. Boylan did say that he didn't have to do a lot, Tom's recording of the of the keyboards and electric guitars needed no help. When Boylan brought the rest of the band to LA to record "Let Me Take You Home Tonight" Tom took advantage of the unsupervised time to sneak Jim Masdea's drum track from the demo into the song "Rock and Roll Band". Tom also did the pre-mix of the tapes in his basement, except for the vocals and the drum parts for the other songs. Tom went to LA with Boylan to tape Sib Hashian's drum parts and Brad Delp's vocals, again under the supervision of John Boylan, who still gave Tom most of the control of the sessions, only stepping in when Tom had problems. He stepped in during the recording of the drums when he realized Tom wasn't properly recording them either and called in two recording engineers to show him how to mic the drums. Then the final mixing was done in LA, with Boylan stepping in only when Tom kept turning up the electric guitars so much that they were overpowering the vocals. Boylan said it was the biggest argument they had during the time they worked together. Boylan also said that overall it was the easiest job he ever had, since Tom did do most of the work.
That’s a REAL voice… just amazing
Boston was the first concert I ever went to back in the fall of 1978. Three college buddies and I drove 70 miles to see them. Sammy Hagar, whom I had not yet heard of was the warm-up act. Then there was 15-20 minutes while the roadies switched things out and then Boston opened with their song "Rock & Roll Band" which is kind of a story about how they got started. In addition to that one, you should listen to "Foreplay/Long Time", and "Smokin'".
Saw the exact tour in Toronto, I knew The Red Rocker though and he blew the place away, did a 10 minute version or "Red", then Boston tore it up, one of the best concerts I reviewed, back in the day.
I play this song all the time when I'm cooking or cleaning.
This SH*T STILL HITS HARD!!!! Whole debut album is killer.
This is the greatest debut rock & roll album for an American band IMO. Saw them 7 times from 1976 -2013
This song is 1 of the 3 or 4 I can think of that is perfection.
you two are on a roll!!!.
Yes
That first Boston album is loaded with great songs, but I this is the crown jewel. On this song it all comes together perfectly with every aspect of the production perfectly crafted.
This is the all time song ever! It was crafted very well!! And oh yeah I love the Lsu shirt!!
This song is so old and I remember when it came out. What a great debut album it was, now everyone including me are going to say you got to listen to "Foreplay/Long Time" by Boston, it's like two songs but you gotta play them both together...
Foreplay/Longtime should be your next Boston reaction 🔥😁
Most epic song of all time.
Imagine being 16 and hearing this song for the first time. Great memories.
I was a junior in HS when this album dropped! Killer ❤
Hey Brandon & Shante, "More Than A Feeling" by Boston is an iconic "Rock Anthem" that has stood the test of time and it will continue to be played for generations to come because it is an absolute "BANGER!!!"
Tom Scholz and Brad Delp….the iconic duo
Appreciate you for not stopping the video till the end
You guys have been reacting to some of the greatest classic rock songs of all time. I'm enjoying it a lot.
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
I remember when this song and album came out.
Was a senior in high school. Took the school/country/world by storm. At least 4 radio hits came from this album. Another great reaction, y'all.
You don't see too many bands these days that can do it all, they all can sing and play an instruments
Brad Delp!
What an amazing voice!
Great Band... Y'all need to listen to some Molly Hatchet "Flirtin with Disaster.. Keep them head phones on and turn it up.. Love some Southern Rock.....
Off of the number 1 album of all time…..period.
A true classic by a true iconic group of the 70's and 80's, and beyond. At a private ambulance service, I worked at we had a gal Mary Ann that we would sing this to. Drove her nuts. LOL BTW: Like the shirt, Brandon. GEAUX TIGERS!
Lol. Geaux Tigers
He solo's like Dave Murray from Iron Maiden, feet together no movement, I'd say that's pretty good company. Brad you were the one and only, R.I.P brother.
Classic song from one of the best and most influential albums of the 70's and one of the biggest selling debut albums of all time (20+ million in worldwide sales). The mastermind behind the album was Tom Scholz, who wrote almost all the songs (except one by the vocalist, Brad Delp), played all the instruments (except drums), including custom building some of the electronic guitar effects, and recorded and produced the album in his basement while working as an engineer for Polaroid (he has a masters in mechanical engineering from MIT). Brad Delp (RIP) was an incredible vocalist and he sang the lead vocal and all the backup harmonies. I grew up in Brad's hometown of Danvers, MA and my oldest brother graduated high school with him. He was a huge Beatles fan (he had a side band called Beatlejuice that did all meticulous Beatles covers) and his high school quote was "Have you heard the new Beatles album".
NO auto tune. Just Brad and the band. The drummers daughter is or was married to The Rock :) Oh this was a MASSIVE hit when it came out in 76.
Great Song.
Most underrated band and voice of all time!!
Great song! Brad's vocals are crazy! 🔥❤🔥
Awesome 🎉!
Please do more Boston!! I just subscribed... Love you two👍
Thanks for subbing! We will do that!!
Boston, another Great Band from the 70's and the 80's one of the Greatest songs of that era. The Bass player is in his own little world when he plays.
I call this my birthday song- Boston started working on it a week or 2 after I was born and recorded it around my 1st birthday.
Aww
It’s been said but the best debut album ever. I was ten and I went and bought as soon as I could. It is still on my playlist. Can’t go wrong with any song on this album Absolute 🔥
I've heard it was the first Columbia album to outsell Michael Jackson. You can check me on that.
Thank you for playing the video all the way through before you made a comment
Any time!
I saw them concert in late 1970s in the Super Dome they so damn. Good 💕
Super Dome? You from New Orleans?
A New Orleans native here.
Shreveport Louisiana, I just love my state.💯🔥☝🏾
@@brandonnshante Very cool. Love Louisiana, too. And love your channel. Keep on growing.
This is a great rock band, and they have a large collection of popular hits. I have suggested to other reactors that are just beginning their journey exploring rock music, if you find that one song isn't you're "cup of tea" within a group or band/artist at least be willing to listen to one or two more, because these bands and artists were always crossing over into other genres or styles of music. So, you may be pleasantly surprised when listening to another song. I wonder if you would like to hear some pop rock, R&B music "Bryan Adams - Run To You" (Vevo) Nice reaction🎶
Best sophomore debut album ever!! Check out the whole album, every song is epic!! RipSyb and Brad! Brad your the goat of singers.
What's a "sophomore debut album"?
Shorter version but still good.
I was in middle school when this came out. So many songs from this incredible debut album were HUGE hits. Boston is the real deal.
Yes, they are.💯
The more I listen to this track the more I appreciate the guitar tones Tom is getting.
said it b4, twozz a great time to be young. . . well not too young 😳 just young enough too not be too old 😅 to enjoy great music with the young ladies of that time...we had some fine times back in 76 would catch a bus back there any ol' day. . .n stay 4ever
❤️❤️
Whoever recommends this song to any reactor channel, please tell them to avoid this particular YT video. Not only is the audio compression horrible, but the song itself is basically cut in half. It's not the reactors fault, as they are unfamiliar and don't know any better.
Saw these guys on their first tour through San Francisco at the Winter Land arena. The opening act was Y&T who I was interested in seeing because I’d been hearing about their drummer Didn’t know Boston music….yet. Holy Crap after Boston played their set I was totally blown away, I rushed out the next day and got their album. So good. Thanks
Love it.
The whole album is great.
I don't know where you found this footage of Boston....it is awesome!
"Wings Of Pegasus" did a in-depth analysis of this song and claims it to be the most perfect rock song he's ever heard, no shock there.
Boston is ALWAYS satisfying. Still listen to their songs and still played often on the classic rock stations.b
Great band who's music was just great vibin music. Bad company is a great band to check out as well. Great reaction have a blessed one!
Thank you! You too!
I love this song 🎵 ❤️😄 brings me back to my childhood. My dad had this on 8Track. I am so thankful for his great taste and that he listened ti a little bit of everything. Feeling blessed to have grown up in the 70’s and 80’s
Yeahhhhh rep them tigers!!! Geaux Tigerssss
Another great band from my home of Boston (I commented on Aerosmith, which is also from here). The whole debut album is total fire... I recommend reacting to all of it (and the second album ("Don't Look Back") for that matter. This video chops out the second verse, which is unfortunate, but c'est la vie.
RIP Brad Delp, that dude could SANG, new to channel, good stuff
Thanks
Love your Baseball team!! Live in Omaha.. Love it when LSU makes the CWS!!!! Geaux Tigers… but only in baseball… Football?? Gotta be THE HUSKERS!!
I was around when this album came out. It shocked the world! No band ever sounded like this. BOSTON took off like a rocket. To date this album has sold over 400 million copies! The most ever in rock history! The sudden success of this band cost the singer the love of his life. The song MAN I WILL NEVER BE is a cry for help. Brad Delp the singer, was torn between quitting the band or losing the love of his life. He tried to console her but she grew tired of him being gone all the time on tour. She left him and the depression from that caused him to kill himself! There is no disaster like success if you are not ready for it. You must hear THE MAN I WILL NEVER BE by BOSTON to hear his pain.
Definitely will check it out that’s interesting to know. The things Love will do.
This is a radio cut version. I don’t know why anyone would cut this song. There’s only one more short verse before the solo. Anyway, I appreciate that you didn’t constantly interrupt the music. A lot of these reacters never STFU. When the 3 minute song is over 17 minutes later, they still haven’t heard it. So thank you for that.
😂😂😂 you're welcome
Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name Live 1980's version.
Check out the song called “Smokin” by Boston, it’s a banger! 🥁💣🎸🔥
Keep it up guys
Thanks
Guys the long versions or live is better
Brad has legit top male vocals. Others would be Steve Perry (Journey), Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company), Freddie Mercury (Queen), and Lou Graham (Foreigner).
Geaux Tigers!
GEAUX TIGERS!!!
Would love to see you guys do I WAS MADE FOR LOVING YOU by KISS music video!!!!
Great song. Thanks for not stopping the song every 30 seconds for stupid commentary. This is how to do reaction videos. Appreciate it.
Sounds like you like old rock..... you need to hear some old rock by a New Girl (back then she was a really new girl),, please react to Angelina Jordan (9) doing her Own version of shock rocker Screaming Jay Hawkins from 1956... make Sure you see the Black and White version of "I PUT A SPELL ON YOU" and when you recover from that one. (You will be speachless) please go see Angelina Jordan (13) AGT2020 sing Queens "BOHEMIAN RAPOSIDY"
You will then be in a rabbit hole with thousands of her Fans she called her angels and you will learn why she is called the Barefoot Princess, and the Angel with a 1000 Voices ,, she has over 200 covers and originals todate, and she is still only 17 as of Jan 10 2023. Must See These !!
“Foreplay/Longtime is must see !
Lol Tom Scholz admitted in an interview that his Maryanne was a cousin that he had a crush on when he was young. But it made a good song subject.
Wow didn't know that.😮
Brad Delp could have sung a phone book, and I would have listened.
Please react to Always Somewhere by the Scorpions.
Geaux Tigers
If you haven't listened to the whole album you should. There is not a bad song at all on it.
Geaux Tigers....
You have to listen to the audio version. The video quality sucks and they cut out 45 seconds to a minute of music.
Geaux MF Tigers
You're hearing the short version of the song
Makes you want to grow a mustache!
I saw them in a small indoor arena 1979/80 ish-the sound was if I had headphones on listening to the stereo-the drummer controls the show-nothing on youtube comes close-great show-great tune-great album-I cant understand your accent and you talk too low but your reaction w/out words was felt
Thanks
Hey...Dive into Queen
Not that I don't LOVE BOSTON
I'm the Marianne in this song. No no one Believes me. Please do. I'm. 67 yrs old old. Brad will be. 72 in June. Thanks
Ok, ❤️❤️❤️
Amazing reaction but please react to November rain by GN'R it is their first song to hit 2 billion views and the first rock song to hit 2 billion views
Think about it his voice went beyond the guitar.
The drummers daughter is married to the Rock(Dwayne Johnson)
Didn't know that.
