The point about Ahmed calling the cops is a good one. However I still stand by my statement. Even under the citizens arrest law in the state of Georgia, those three guys did not have any legal precedent for attempting to detain him. He was confronted by three men one of them holding a shotgun and probably panicked which is understandable. Ahmed should not have gone into that house, and those three guys should not have confronted him the way they did. Ultimately they ended up killing someone needlessly in my opinion, and I am glad that they are going to be locked up.

It’s the self-righteous, delusional hypocrisy that gets me. Like, imagine if somebody did that to him (chased him in his truck) because of what they thought he may have done, thinking he owes them some sort of explanation or compliance to stop and talk to them and, in fact, demands he do so, at gun point. He’d be terrified, anyone would be (especially someone who really was jogging, as Arbery was) and he’d tell people the horror story of how he was once chased and attacked and falsely imprisoned and demand to police his attackers be charged as such. But yet he feels HE has the right to do it, because when HE does it, he can’t understand how the world would see it as anything other than noble and good. He feels there should be an obvious, common-sense exception for him because he ultimately views himself as the good guy trying to catch a bad guy. And yes, I do believe he’s racist, as well. But I don’t think it’s that he’s amazed he’s being held accountable, I think he genuinely thinks he didn’t do anything wrong. He’s so self-righteous, so convinced he’s good, he can’t even imagine how anyone would see it any other way.
I say all this to say, he’s probably never going to feel what you want him to feel, because he doesn’t think he did anything that warrants remorse.

You should call the police yourself... explain whats happening and wait for them to arrive. They got charged because they couldn't prove that they had reasonable cause to believe he was comitting a felony. All eight counts carry individually 20 years to life running concurrent.
20 years to life: means you have to do 20 years before your eligible for parole.
Concurrent: means they follow each other in line so as soon as the first 20 years count is over the next charge of 20 years starts counting.
The the older man were found guilty on three of the counts which means they'll do 60 years before they're eligible for parole.
The son was found guilty on all eight charges which means he won't be eligible for parole until after 160 years.

Interesting you believe he was casing the neighborhood when after all the dust has settled, this has been disproven. These so called “break ins” no one ever reported to the police, turned out to not be a thing. Even the owner of the home in question, gave an interview clearing up the rumor something was previously stolen. Tools were stolen from his boat months prior and he felt it was a disgruntled worker.
