Ahmaud’s father’s outburst was entirely understandable, but the judge’s response was entirely right. He has been very careful to ensure that this case is beyond reproach, not giving the defence teams the slightest opening for a mistrial or grounds for appeal. In that respect he has done his job to bring justice for Ahmaud.

I have watched much of this trial several times as well & was very proud of the prosecution team for an excellent job to bring justice for this heinous act committed by these 3 cowardly men.
Though I fully understand the sentiment, I think bringing joy to one’s soul is inappropriate because at the end of the day, Ahmaud is dead & his family & friends will forever have a hole in their life.
These 3 men, in a complete racist act of stupidity & arrogance destroyed Ahmaud’s family, their own families, their entire community where they lived & to our country where racism is still a very much hot button. When will it ever end?
These men will die in prison & for what, acting out like vigilantes from the 1950’s?? So sad that education is lost & a primitive mindset prevailed. I do take comfort that these men got justice & I hope everyone else can heal ….

I hate it for the the defendant's baby but if this verdict can potentially keep the child from adopting his father's pernicious ways, it's a good thing. Pray for the wife of the despicable senior McMichael. Maybe she will find peace and publicly apologize to the mother of Ahmad on behalf of her son. She is now without a son for the rest of her life. His incessant lying and attempts to twist the facts by claiming he was confused when he was questioned proved he was a self serving liar who only wanted to save his skin.

I’m not someone who comments on trial results as it’s in terrible taste. However, it was apparent the defence had absolutely nothing when they tried to redefine a legal term (as they basically said they have no defence sans the redefinition) and then tried to paint the poor victim as a bad person because he wore khaki shorts and no socks.

There are actual professional standards and rules for attorneys, which includes high ranking prosecutors. For police officers, not so much: they can get fired, but a corrupt union can easily get them reinstated or hired elsewhere, and they effectively can never lose their pension. During the trial, the defense relied on the tactic of trying to appeal to racist sentiments they believed at least one juror might have harbored, especially the "blonde" lawyer, talking about "long, dirty toenails", and they attempted, as usual in cases like this, to blame the victim for the crimes of the defendants.
They were looking for a "Paul Manafort juror", at least one who would vote to acquit no matter how ironclad the evidence was against the defendants.
They also tried to justify the acts of the criminals by condoning racist profiling, as if it is OK for whites to automatically assume that a Black man can be murdered on white suspicion alone, without due process.
The defense exemplified support for racism in America. That was not justice.
It would be good if the Bar associations would issue a conduct rule to forbid such tactics, and any lawyers attempting such in the future, be barred from practicing law.
Now it remains to be seen if the judge pulls a "Vincent Chin", and gives the lightest sentences possible in the areas where he has discretion.
