It pains me when people say that the love for this game is purely nostalgic and the genre is inherently bad, because I also replayed the game as an adult and it's amazing. I know that my childhood didnt determine my current opinion because Tooie, a game I liked even more than Kazooie as a kid, didnt hold up as well. Kazooie is just so elegant in its level design and it just feels amazing to explore each environment and learn its secrets, puzzles, challenges, and characters.

I remember the one thing my friend and I would do together was play video games. After realizing we both loved the Nintendo 64, he came over and we started combing through games, and all of a sudden he's like, what's this?
Holy jesus, you've never played Banjo Kazooie?
I popped it in and let him play, and we had a blast. It was the first time playing that game in a long time, and it was baffling just how much I remembered.
I think he had a blast too. This game will always be one of my absolute favorite to complete anytime.

Wow, it is so appropriate that you're doing Banjo-Kazooie today as I had the idea that you should do a top ten list for best game intros and Banjo-Kazooie is on that list for me. You know, the intro (or intros) you see when you start up a game. I love Banjo's intro for the sheer fun of it. These are some of my favorites.
1. Banjo-Kazooie (Like I said)
2. Donkey Kong 64 (The DK rap is immortal)
3. Majora's Mask (So creepy with the mask coming at you)
4. Ocarina Of Time (The music alone gives me nostalgia)

I had a smile on my face the whole time Jirard. Love how you break down every element including the sound design. My favorite game of all time, I play through every October around Halloween. This game taught me to search every nook and cranny of each new world, there was something fun to discover behind every corner. Any other game I play, I still do this and a lot of times am left disappointed when there is NOTHING there- why add in an extra bit of hallway or room to explore when there is NOTHING! Banjo-Kazooie did world exploration right and I'm always satisfied when I find a new mumbo token around a corner or a string of musical notes.

1. I completed this game last year after watching you and Alex play it on Beard Bros, and after having only played McDonalds demos of it when I was a kid, I can say that this game totally holds up today as a game worth completing. So thank you for sharing your love for Banjo!
2. If somehow you read this, you HAVE to look up this video by a UA-camr named FamilyJules. He did a metal guitar cover of Gruntilda's final battle, but he did it WITH GRANT KIRKHOPE! I love this episode, and I love how much the show has improved this season. Jirard, you seem happier and more confident than ever. The format is the best it's ever been and I think it's now perfect. The show used to be informative but a little on the boring side, but now it's informative AND fun and interesting. Episodes used to run longer than necessary and now they're just the right length. I've watched the show through all its ups and downs for years, and this is finally what I feel like the show always should have been, what it was always trying to be. Well done. To me this game is the definition of a video game world coming to life. I love this childhood-like sense that you kind of forget you're playing a video game that is programmed like this-and-that and that has set boundaries for what you can and can't do. A world where you can just go and explore and find something interesting and charming, no matter what you do. I really do wish you wouldn't have to collect all notes in one sitting without dying though. That can be quite tedious if you're not good at platforming or if you prefer/only have the time to play this game in short bursts.

Banjo-Kazooie is not only my favourite N64 game but also the first episode of the The Completionist I ever saw, followed by Scott Pilgrim vs the world, this episode was the one of the original 120 I was the most looking forward too, thanks for putting a big smile on my face. 🙂

The original Banjo-Kazooie episode was my first exposure to you as the Completionist. Although I would prefer Banjo Tooie myself, I can acknowledge that the first one has set the bar for platformers and was what put Rare on the map. Glad you went back to this one and cannot wait for the Banjo Tooie NG+

One of the coolest hidden-ish things about BK that I loved as a kid was doing the puzzle challenges in Banjo's house to learn/unlock cheat codes. And for completing them all you got one of the best cheats of all time: wishywashybanjo.
