Technically if you wanted to avoid breaking the "no transformation rule" with the pumpkin, there are codes you can enter on the sandcastle floor to raise the water level. However, as these are counted as "illegal codes" (i.e. not ones that you receive in-game from Bottles or Cheato, but ones that are nonetheless programmed into the game), you can only enter two, I believe, as entering a third causes Grunty to erase your game. I believe you can fully raise the water level without exceeding that amount, though, so you could get around it that way.
The cheats in the sandcastle don't actually raise the water level, but there's a few ways around it with glitches on the Xbox release of the game. The Demo Desync Adventure way wouldn't work because of Bottles Bonus deleting the DDA file after you play it, so Bottles Bonus Desync Adventure or spawning the podium from sandcastle cheats to use Pause Overlap Glitch and Cauldron Cutscene State in a real file would be the only way of skipping it.
@@TSRStormed I didn't realise that the water level cheats didn't work in the XBox version - I know it did on the N64 one because I used it and Grunty threatened me 😹
@@pressaTD @TSRStormed has fully corrected me on the matter, so definitely read their comments here! Regardless of transformation rule or not, I am genuinely impressed with how many jiggies a washing machine can collect!
Did you also notice the glitch that when you let Mumbo transform you while being a washing machine and not having paid yet, you won't pay any Mumbo tokens and the sign telling the required Mumbo Tokens disappears? This could allow you to finish the game with the max amount of Mumbo Tokens still in possession (116).
Sucks that it isn't possible to beat the game because of Furnace Fun. The reason for this is because the game needs to automatically transform you back into Banjo & Kazooie when you come back from the Mr. Vile Minigame on a Timer Square. Just an oversight where that room always has the property of spawning you as Banjo & Kazooie. Great video, love these challenges!
This looks like the kind of thing my late Grandad would have had fun with (he passed away back in 2007). He played a lot of games, and in particular enjoyed anything that was a bit quirky, so he would have jumped at playing as a washing machine.
very old-school BK player here! I had managed to figure out the whole "kill Snacker" thing by accident when my eggs fell into the water and I noticed they did the 'damage' animation happy to see that other people are finding out the secret strats after all this time~
5:52 Before this, the closest I have ever come to seeing a flying appliance was when some dude put a lawnmower-shaped chassis on his RC airplane. That, too, was a majestic sight.
I went through the video again and here's a list of all the things that were missed but possible: 1. You can get on top of Conga's Tree and jump over to the top area in talon trot to get the Witch Switch and Conga Jiggy 2. Termite Tower was changed on the NTSC 1.1, Japanese, and Xbox releases to patch the slope abuse method of climbing the tower. However, you can do frame perfect mid air jumps in Talon Trot to reach the top. This is probably THE hardest trick in the entire game but is possible by a human as I've done it several times. Or you can play on NTSC 1.0 or PAL to make it easier as stated in the video. 3. It should be possible to beak bomb out of bounds using various methods in Freezeezy Peak to get into Wozza's Cave to get the last Jinjo without the Walrus. 4. On every N64 version, you can do a glitch called timer abuse where you can repeatedly pause the game to delay the timer. Doing this, its possible to run over to the Freezeezy Peak Lobby flight pad to obtain the Witch Switch Jiggy. On Xbox this is "patched" (the port team changed how the pause menu works so its a consequence of that not a real patch per say). You can also do this for the Church later in the video. 5. There are various methods on Xbox that let you skip the water level, but most take you out of the Washing Machine or don't even allow you to unlock the Washing Machine at all. The one method that could work to your benefit would be the Pause Overlap Glitch method. During the cutscene that drains the water in the sandcastle, if you open the Xbox menu before the transition into the sandcastle and close it after the transition, you can use the pause menu while you're playing. After that, if you do a glitch called Cauldron Cutscene State where you jump into a Cauldron while its showing the other location of the Cauldron you already activated, you can then spawn into any cutscene that shows you a different map in the game. If you enter the cheat for the Click Clock Wood Puzzle Podium to spawn early without hitting the switch, you can use the Pause Overlap Glitch's Grunty fade out after pressing exit game to walk into Click Clock Wood and skip the water level. If you want to get into Rusty Bucket Bay, you can jump from the loading zone above the 640 Note Door to get over to the area where the RBB Witch Switch Jiggy spawns to hit the third water switch which allows you to get up to Rusty Bucket Bay. Extra: There is a way to transfer the Bottles Bonus flags to the Demo Desync Adventure file by doing all the Bottles Bonus minigames and signing out of your Xbox profile. Once you do Demo Desync Adventure, you can head down to Treasure Trove Cove and unlock WishyWashyBanjo without having to get the sandcastle jiggy and getting 50 notes as Banjo & Kazooie. As of typing this, there is no way of getting into Treasure Trove Cove early on Xbox as Banjo & Kazooie (there is an N64 method but it requries lag on Xbox which it doesn't have) which means you'll still have to collect 2 jiggies somewhere. This doesn't mean its impossible, as finding a bit clip setup would be the solution but no one has found one as of late. Even before this video I've been trying to find this and its only a matter of time before its found. But yeah, there is no way (even in a TAS setting) to beat the game as the Washing Machine because of Furnace Fun, but maybe someday we'll find something to make this possible :)
Now I honestly can’t stop imagining Banjo as a washing machine winning Grunty’s Furnace Fun and going for the washing machine prize on the stand - freeing his comrade - instead of his sister. As Grunty is escaping upstairs… Tooty: Pick me! Pick me! Kazooie: We’ll take that grotty, old thing. (referring to the Grunty plushie) Banjo: Kazooie! How could you leave a fellow washing machine here to remain Grunty’s laundry slave?! I may not be taking back my old sister, but today we welcome in a new brother! Tooty: WHAT?? You fought your way through hazardous sewage, arid deserts, and haunted graveyards as that old hag mocked you only to enable her makeover at my expense?? Grunty (returning to her podium): From upstairs, I heard Banjo’s silly voice - You have truly made a wise choice! You will never have to worry about not being clean and I’ll be the most gorgeous woman you’ve ever seen! I’ve still got Dingpot to wash my cute threads. That new dress will surely turn heads! He’ll have to admit I’m the pinnacle of hot, as I dig into my pretty nose for fresh snot! Enjoy the washer you’ve worked so hard to win - I’ll enjoy being curvy and thin! Thanks once more playing, but I cannot be further delaying; C’mon, Tooty - back into your pod! You’re the key to my perfect bod!
If not for Furnace Fun resetting transformations to regular Banjo & Kazooie Id say that eggs on the final boss would be an exception. Otherwise, I think there's only five jiggies collected here that require eggs.
Don't worry, you're not crazy. You can ground pound for the pink jinjo, but its probably not a thing for Xbox, or its because your hitbox is smaller for the washing machine. It is also possible for the egg, but its near frame perfect, at least for N64. Entering the church and collecting the grunty switch jiggy for Freezeezy Peak is possible, you just need to constantly pause the game will allow you to delay the timer each time.
Fun fact about the xbla version and trying to get this code so early: Any scene where Banjo collects notes in the puzzles used to cause them to disappear in the levels, too, as they were considered 'collected' but not added to your total. This is, reportedly and thankfully, patched, but was annoying for me when I played the xbla version and couldn't 100% the game because of it.
One could say that being a washing machine puts quite a difficult SPIN on things! This challenge wasn't a very CLEAN sweep of a run! I bet after this Press A is feeling pretty DRAINED! ...okay I'll stop now.
I remember seeing a video on how to get the witch switch puzzle piece that requires the swift boots (without using the swift boots) all you do is constantly pause and unpause while going there and for some reason the timer advances much slower as a result of contant pausing.
Anyone who watched Scykoh while he was still doing UA-cam would know HOW in depth he would go int games he played, and so the washing machine was already known by me :P
I loved these Bonus Codes. The Big Bottles Bonus (#) codes DO work past the Tooty Warp Pad, but when you get fired from Dingpot up to the final boss, those are also removed as well, so you look normal for the final cutscenes. A Valiant Effort all the same!
You can ground pound to collect the Jinjo in Bubblegloop Swamp on the N64 version. I did it recently. Should work on N64, PC emulators and NSO. (Also you can roll to collect the jiggy in the sarcophagus outside Gobi's Valley, was that also patched on Xbox?)
I've played and beaten this game so many times since my childhood and I was honestly not expecting the Washing Machine transformation to be so limiting. I guess some characters only talk to a bear and bird and not a sentient washing machine 😛
This vid was super entertaining and well edited, subscribing! I can't believe I never looked at Bottles portrait in first person a single time. The secrets in this series are incredible. Going to try this out right now!
I think a good number of the Washing Machine's problems are caused by being unable to interact with certain flags and hitboxes along with the failure to play certain character animations. My guess is that Rare saw this problem from the start and reverted Banjo back to his original form once he reached Grunty's Furnace Fun. Otherwise, he won't be able to correctly interact with the question squares and potentially break the segment (i.e. run over the squares without clearing them). By the way, I discovered this little bit of hitbox interaction when I had Bee Banjo explore the other worlds. Apparently, going into little holes with loading zones is not enough. I believe these loading zones are tied to a specific character ID assigned to each of Banjo's forms. Otherwise, we would see Bee Banjo inside Mr. Vile's arena. It also explains why the loading zone for the water switch mausoleum is unusual. While the player perceives a hole, it is really just a texture on a flat set of polygons. When Banjo is in his pumpkin form, he activates the loading zone and is locked into an animation where he bypasses the level collision and enters through the texture of the whole.
The Washing Machine is like The Guy from Spy Kids 3: Game Over. He can open the way to the final challenge, but he gets unceremoniously obliterated at the door.
I struggled hard to get through all the puzzles as a kid, but flying through the sky, magnificent and free, was such a huge part of my childhood. I love this video, thank you for showing us the whole shebang!
So I noticed a couple things you said you couldn't do that I have done as standard Banjo on the N64 version 1. You can make it into the church without the Turbo Trainers, it takes some very good movemet but it is possible (and I think Pause Buffering helps too, but I didn't need it), I don't know if it's possible on the XBox version or as a Washing Machine though, that would need to be tested 2. You can skip the final Gruntilda puzzle by clipping under the door it opens into Dingpot's room, it's tricky but there are videos out there of it being done, and how I learned of it (obviously this doesn't really matter for the run here since you're not a Washing Machine anymore, but thought I'd mention it)
Wait, you don't need to become a pumpkin to raise the water and enter Rusty Bucket Bay! There's actually a cheat code just for that! "CHEAT UP YOU GO WITHOUT A HITCH UP TO THE WATER LEVEL SWITCH - Raises the water level near Rusty Bucket Bay" ...This is possibly the first time in the history of the planet that cheat code is useful
I had no idea the washing machine had unique properties like avoiding the jiggy dance, being unable to interact with NPCs, and being able to go through poisonous waters without wading boots.
I tried something similar to this once for some friends on a stream a long time ago, but a lot more casually and with some gameshark cheats on. It's interesting to see what you can get away with since the game treats it as a transformation (or seems to) while still having access to _most_ of Banjo's moveset (i.e. no boots or shoes). There's a surprising amount of things you simply can't interact with because of that, and (as we saw in the video) things that Washing Machine Banjo interacts with strangely, like the egg in BGS.
It scares me that Banjo-Kazooie is, what, 26 years old now? As a kid back on the N64, I was always confused that people didn't know you could kill Snacker, but it's even more confusing that it's 2024 and people are still only finding out 😂 love watching this challenge though 🙌🏻 I've never thought about doing a challenge as the washing machine so it's interesting to see someone attempt it
I thought being a washing machine anywhere was a fever dream. People would try and tell me that I must've been remembering it wrong. I'm so happy I had this finally confirmed as real
Im late to seeing this video, but you can spam pause to slow down the timer for timer challenges, which would allow you to get into the church in MMM, as well as two more witch switch jiggies, putting the final count to 75 jiggies, 76 if motzhand would acknowledge wishy-washy banjo.
While you can't do all the jigsaws that require you to be Banjo, you can still make A decent time through the game as Washer Banjo, you can complete the game as normal, then quickly just run through to grab the jiggies that your missing as Banjo and still make A fast time.
Laughing my head off at you guys putting the Crash Bandicoot 2 Warp Rooms BGM over Banjo Kazooie footage. You're just targeting my childhood across the console divide lol
Nuts n Bolts run when?! Jokes aside, great video. I never played these games as a kid, Nuts n Bolts was my first Banjo Kazooie game and I haven't gone back to play the earlier ones yet, but I think I would really enjoy them.
If you can get at least 94 jiggies without turbo talon trot, yes. Otherwise you're gonna need to sequence break. Oh I didn't know you couldn't even get the egg moves as a washing machine. Never mind :P I also had no idea just how many more limitations there were.
I'm honestly shocked that there is any difference between Regular Banjo and Washer Banjo. I always assumed it was just a model swap and you could play the whole game that way.

Wait, you don't need to become a pumpkin to raise the water and enter Rusty Bucket Bay! There's actually a cheat code just for that!
"CHEAT UP YOU GO WITHOUT A HITCH UP TO THE WATER LEVEL SWITCH - Raises the water level near Rusty Bucket Bay"
...This is possibly the first time in the history of the planet that cheat code is useful
Good morning. New Press A! video just dropped. Day better. :)
I had no idea the washing machine had unique properties like avoiding the jiggy dance, being unable to interact with NPCs, and being able to go through poisonous waters without wading boots.
6:03 "We knew that new microwave oven was not to be trusted!"🤣
I tried something similar to this once for some friends on a stream a long time ago, but a lot more casually and with some gameshark cheats on. It's interesting to see what you can get away with since the game treats it as a transformation (or seems to) while still having access to _most_ of Banjo's moveset (i.e. no boots or shoes). There's a surprising amount of things you simply can't interact with because of that, and (as we saw in the video) things that Washing Machine Banjo interacts with strangely, like the egg in BGS.
It scares me that Banjo-Kazooie is, what, 26 years old now? As a kid back on the N64, I was always confused that people didn't know you could kill Snacker, but it's even more confusing that it's 2024 and people are still only finding out 😂 love watching this challenge though 🙌🏻 I've never thought about doing a challenge as the washing machine so it's interesting to see someone attempt it
Cybershell bros... Washer Machine% inbound.
I saw the title. I watched the intro. I still was caught off guard by “to become a washing machine”
While you can't do all the jigsaws that require you to be Banjo, you can still make A decent time through the game as Washer Banjo, you can complete the game as normal, then quickly just run through to grab the jiggies that your missing as Banjo and still make A fast time.
Explains why the game felt glitchy and inconsistent, as I loved playing as a washing machine
15:40 That feels like a sketch from Monty Python.🤣🚽
I'm glad to see the patched the bug where doing the bottles bonus could cause some of the notes in RBB to be uncollectible
Laughing my head off at you guys putting the Crash Bandicoot 2 Warp Rooms BGM over Banjo Kazooie footage. You're just targeting my childhood across the console divide lol
0:24 He looks so sad, like some invisible being was dragging him along the courses.☹
You can get the jiggy on top of click clock wood with the flying ability in winter
Nuts n Bolts run when?! Jokes aside, great video. I never played these games as a kid, Nuts n Bolts was my first Banjo Kazooie game and I haven't gone back to play the earlier ones yet, but I think I would really enjoy them.
Thank you! Definitely recommend playing them. They are true masterpieces
If you can get at least 94 jiggies without turbo talon trot, yes. Otherwise you're gonna need to sequence break.
Oh I didn't know you couldn't even get the egg moves as a washing machine. Never mind :P
I also had no idea just how many more limitations there were.
I'm honestly shocked that there is any difference between Regular Banjo and Washer Banjo. I always assumed it was just a model swap and you could play the whole game that way.
Love your videos guus. Pikmin and banjo are 2 of my favorite games.
Dont know if its been done before but maybe a challenge using the minimum number of eggs and/or feathers to beat banjo kazooie?
4:28 Since you can’t raise the stump to shoot eggs at Konga, how did you get the egg shoot move? Did you grab it as banjo and forgot about it when starting as a washing machine?
Yeah I had to grab it as Banjo but didn’t count the jiggy towards the total collected as Washer Banjo
what's the song at 8:40?
it sounds familiar but i dont recall where from
Mario odyssey. I think lost world
For every time jiggy, you can spam the start button to move without losing a second too fast
Yeah I leaned that after the video lol
15:41 that's what he said lol
All you need is to miss six jiggies and the game is unbeatable. simple as that
5:58 actually the first flying washing machine was done by nasa in 1969
What's the music the plays during yhe Bubblegloop Swamp portion? It's on the tip of my tongue
Forgotten Isle from Odyssey
@@pressaTD thank you!
What is the music that plays during the Rusty Bucket Bay segment?
Industrial Hysteria (remix of Fear Factory from DKC)
10:00 it is possible, just pretty precise
I wonder if you can do it banjoless, meaning without banjo but you can still transform. That would be an interesting way to play if it’s possible.
I know none of you will agree with me, but I’m glad this video exists. As someone who just never enjoyed the first banjo game, I personally think that this could be the greatest video ever.
No one will agree with you and no one even likes you.
Thank you for the greatest comment ever
Ok but like, why use Crash Bandicoot 2 music for this video??
Because Crash Bandicoot 2 music is amazing :)
do you need to beat all the puzzles to unlock the codes or can you just do one and have it unlocked? i cant beat puzzle three lol
Unfortunately yes. I found drawing a diagram helped me with the last puzzle lol
@@pressaTDi am discoverying its not randomized each time so that certanly helps. I may need to do the same. Probably will come back to this after i beat the game, just got to the halloween world :3
Was not expecting music from the ps1 Miss Pacman game.
This video was awesome to wash
Ayyy
For a water level, Clankers is top notch. 👌
I never thought that one of the major roadblocks of this challenge would be racism towards washing machines.
Can the washing machine automatically use all moves? Cause otherwise you'd be gated by the fact that you couldn't even learn some essential moves as the washing machine.
Even though the challenge is a fail. It would have been funny to see if you can at the very least do the Grunty fight as the Washing Machine.
Just the fact you were stuck at 7 for mumbos mountain is already a fail 😂
I remember josh jepson doing this challenge!
You should just collect the rest of the necessary Jiggies and the ln re-transform into the washer and beat Grunty just to see it
Unfortunately I don’t think it’s possible to fight Grunty as Washer Banjo as you’re automatically turned back when warping to the furnace room
You can also kill him with the Wonderwing
6:05 - Uhhh, PSA: Don’t cook and watch a press a! Video, you will possibly, maybe, ironically burn your house down…
Kidding, but rip for anyone’s ears on loud volume. Its realistic enough that I thought I burned something…glad I didnt.
Lol sorry!
You could have gotten the egg jiggy in Bubblegloop Swamp. You need to use beak barge on the last x.
I tried everything but I don’t think it’s possible with Washer Banjo due to its reduced attack range
@@pressaTD That sucks. I didn't see you try it in the video so I thought you might have forgot.
I could image the Discord sever is called "The Start Button" And He has like 8 stickers of Every A button from all Nintendo Consols
