Many of us grow wiser as we experience life. Burt Reynolds may have truly regretted how he handed his relationship with Sally Field during his younger days. His statement may have been the best way he could apologize for his actions. It's to bad Burt Reynolds ran out of time and never had a heart to heart talk with Sally Field. This is a lesson we should all learn and let those who matter know they matter.
I believe the love of his life was Dinah Shore. They were going to get married, until Burt wanted to adopt a child. Dinah thought she was at an age that she didn’t want to raise another child. Another reason she said no was that she had cancer.
How cruel people are! I believe that Burt really loved Sally, not because she was "the one who got away" and his ego was hurt by it, but because he really did love her. Take the man's words at face value; they were his deathbed confession, and deathbed confessions are recognized by the courts as truthful statements.
There was no discussion of the child development and abuses Sally underwent prior to Burt that made her susceptible to a controlling figure, but also, as her other marriages suggest, not the most self-aware and stable partner. In the end, it is likely that Sally needed to find herself and it took her whole life and her independence to feel secure about herself and life generally.

@@markant9534 I actually saw it at the movies when I was a kid with my parents. Of course I didn’t understand some of the things until I saw it again when I got older. It’s really neat to watch it on the big screen.
I always wondered about Sally's side of the story. "Sally wasn't sexy". Really?!?!? I'm sure a lot of people would disagree about that. I lived not to far from Jupiter FL. where Burt used to live and I knew some people that owned a restaurant where Burt, and Loni came in to inquire and order their wedding banquet to be held that weekend with Burt's friends Dom Deluise, and Charles Nelson Reily in tow. It was definitely a surprise thing. Of course there were a few stories like Loni refusing to even date Burt when they first met because he "wasn't a big enough star" and a few others I'm not going to post about. In the end marrying Loni was probably the biggest mistake he ever made.

Strange that for years, Reynolds had stated Dinah Shore was the love of his life. I remember he saying his friends told him she was too old for him. Always admired Sally Field, and she was wonderful in "Lincoln".
I agree. I think he changed the "love of his life" from Dinah to Sally after Dinah died. Maybe he really loved Sally more than Dinah but he likely said it to try to get Sally back.
Burt had her, he had a lot more women than the ones the World knows of, He couldn't have Sally and that's what crushed his heart, He could have any woman he wanted in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, he proved that, RIP to 1 of the greatest actors EVER
The most surprising thing I learned was that Dinah turned down his proposal because she apparently knew she was going to receive a cancer diagnosis some 20 years later.
A case where Burt's ego is what Burt hated and Sally was the one strong enough to keep his ego in check and keep him grounded enough to be somewhat normal and stable.....that's why Burt loved Sally Fields side note: my dad was Sally Field's milkman back in the late 70s through the early 80s
i think Sally is dismissing his final words as to how much he valued his relationship with her, as just "flights of fancy". doesnt change the fact he may REALLY have felt that way..her saying he overvalued their pairing, on HER side, may be entirely true. but, on HIS side, it may not have.. its all conjecture...

How strange ... would'nt it devalue her self worth to say that Burt did not really love her for her but for her not agreeing to marry him ? I think she's hurt by the fact that Burt slept with other women while with her .... but she's probably right not to marry Burt, he's a sexy magnet for many women being one of the physically most attractive men of his time, and he's very outgoing ..... its going to be a life of jealousy and betrayal with such men frankly ... even if he did love her, he may not be able to control himself when other women hit on him .....
Never been a huge Sally Field fan to begin with. Taking private matters public shows poor taste, lack of self respect, and immaturity. Too many people make too much of their relationships and their problems too public. She comes off as no less an asshole than Burt could be.
I agree but I remember when he told Piers Morgan Sally was still the love of his life on a British TV show during an interview and felt it did come off as creepy and indulgent.
Alan, I agree. There are just some things that should not be publicly talked about. These "stars" are publicity hounds and will do or say anything to see their names in papers or on on tv.
Sally Field’s having been the most difficult to obtain put Burt Reynolds into a situation where he put her on a pedestal _(so-to-speak)_ it wasn’t so much that she was _the one that got away_ as much as she’d made the personal decision that Burt as a Partner was a dead-end & would limit her ability to expand as an artist, as an actress & as a person…
Burt saw something special in Sally that he didn’t see in any of his many other love’s. Unfortunately, Sally didn’t feel the same way. She may have loved him at one point, but it seemed to have faded or passed after or maybe even before their break up. He seems like he was most likely too conservative and old fashion for her. It’s a shame that he went to his deathbed with that dreadful feeling of never having the love he so truly wanted. And Her feeling he was “delusional” is unfortunate, however she has the right to feel that way. I somehow feel that in his heart of hearts he did feel something big about her and felt regret on how he handled the relationship. I guess it just was never meant to be.
How could anyone say that Sally isn't beautiful enough for her role in Smoky and the Bandit? She was always pretty and seems to be getting more beautiful with age.
In the end we all grow old and then we die. The things of the World are really quite insignificant. The world is not our home. While we are here let us hope to be a good person the best way we can.
The flying nun was a good show I watched as a kid. Reynolds’s talent was acting. He really never got the right parts. He could’ve done so much more. Fields in my opinion now, is a wacko. She waits until he’s dead and did all this. I no longer care what she says or does. I don’t believe anything she says about Burt Reynolds.
Why do people waiting someone dies then start talking bad about them. She should have released her nook while he was still alive, let him defend himself.
I remember Sally responding to Burt's comments about her being the love of his life and the one that got away. She said, he never said that me and that they hadn't spoken in many years. Burt's book 'But enough about me, a memoir " I listened to it as an audible narrated by Burt. Ugh it was very uncomfortable listening to Burt coming unglued and crying when talking about Sally and yes all that stuff he had gone on a variety of talk shows talking about Sally . I saw him on TV with his Deliverance co stars and he caught himself starting to choke up talking about the movie. I think Burt got old yes delusional.
Honestly Burt was the mirror image of my husband, and our relationship was always about power. I left him and was free of that strict nature. I’m sure sally felt the same thing! I was the one that got away so I’m grateful 😊
Where did the information come from about Burt proposing to Dinah Shore? That was the most surprising content that I found in this video. I read Burt Reynolds Autobiography and his relationship ended with Dinah because he desperately wanted to have a child. Dinah had already raised her children with her former husband.
Hahaha, Reynolds helped her get started in her career then she dumps him, as Sally says life is like a box of chocolate you never know what your gonna do next or some crap like that.
Sometimes The older a man gets the more he regrets the young loves of our lives.....I've never been married but my my shortest relationship of 7 months meant more to me than 10 years
Burt Reynolds, the Godfather of Chads. Sally can retcon this and make it sound like it was no big deal for her, but the truth is, Burt dumped her for Loni and she never quite got over it. The Burt tattoo does not wash off.
Really? Picture yourself in Sally’s shoes, that your ex kept proclaiming things that weren’t true. Do you keep silent for THEIR ego or do you try to keep your own foundation strong by telling the truth? I vote TRUTH. Burt was a fragile, ego driven person. It would be damaging to your own sense of self to declare what YOU have no memory of. Burt had no capacity for insight or introspection separate from his persona.
In any relationship there is going to be one person who has stronger feelings than the other. If Burt felt that strongly about his feelings for her he had 30 years to correct his behavior towards SF if it was that important the fact that he didn’t is just what it is.
I used to think that I liked Sally Fields, but I found out that I really don't. That's okay. If she is content with the way she has lived her life - that's all that matters.
Burt was assured by his mirror he was loved and adored but these smarter women saw thru the fog. His mother was shaking her head no while Loni walked the isle.
I'm 60 and grew up loving Burt...Smokey and the Bandit was one of my all favorites...Sally was a sweetheart...I dont think she should be talking Bad of a Dead Legend...Burt was a lifetime playboy..Sally knew that...Women Love badboys.
Women don't need men as much as men need women....because God made women for men not the other way around....the need to have a strong mate is built inside of every man....sorry ladies, sometimes we do not appreciate you and we squander those opportunities & relationships...sometimes we can take you for grant it
Absolutely. Handsome celebrities like Burt just have way too many options, plus he had a horn-dog personality. No way Burt would have ever remained faithful to Sally and she knew it. But you're right, a guy only gets about 1 or 2 chances to marry a quality woman in his lifetime, regardless of his status and looks. A man's ego and sexual appetite are often his demise.
Burt has always brought back great memories and some great movies to laugh at, as well as classics like Deliverance. I loved the guy and his performances made him a superstar back in the day. He also was not capable of making very good decisions, from women to roles to accept and not accept. He chose Stroker Ace over Terms of Endearment. He was offered the coveted role of James Bond, but in his ultimate wisdom, decided Bond has to be from the UK and not American, turning it down.... We as men are not that bright when it comes to choosing women. Sure Loni put together a great package, but that should've been a warning sign in itself. Burt realized he loved what he couldn't have until he had it... Then he made sure to lose it forever. Although Burt reached a level so few have, I'm sure he wished for the Oscar that never came...

I got the notification it's an hour old you know it's the truth it really is I appreciate that
Never been a huge Sally Field fan to begin with.
Alan Roehrich, Thank You !!
WELLLL!! LOL!! I couldn't agree more as well, nice take on irrelevance sir
Alan, I agree. There are just some things that should not be publicly talked about. These "stars" are publicity hounds and will do or say anything to see their names in papers or on on tv.
Great video

Sally Field’s having been the most difficult to obtain put Burt Reynolds into a situation where he put her on a pedestal _(so-to-speak)_ it wasn’t so much that she was _the one that got away_ as much as she’d made the personal decision that Burt as a Partner was a dead-end & would limit her ability to expand as an artist, as an actress & as a person…
How easily people forget his anger. Some women like not having to wear sunglasses all the time.
Somehow I liked Burt with Dinah Shore the best .
Burt Reynolds broke up with Dinah shore because she was too old to have a child. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
@@harperstacey9604 A lot of men are attracted by that. Throw away the cradle but keep the play pen. 🤗🤭
R.I.P Burt
Boy she was no prize….why stay years if she didn’t love him….shows you. He couldn’t pick the right lady
He picked the wrong woman by marrying Loni Anderson. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
We're a big fan of Sally and she is definitely beautiful. What other types of video would you like to see?

Very Intriguing facts about Burt Reynolds and Sally Field.

If you come to this channel for facts, you will be sadly mislead. Don't let the name of the channel fool you.
I liked his role as a retired spy in an episode of "Burn Notice". "What's the world coming to when I can't shoot Russians"?!
And I'm sure she was perfect in everyway

In the end we all grow old and then we die. The things of the World are really quite insignificant. The world is not our home. While we are here let us hope to be a good person the best way we can.
We absolutely agree! Thank you for watching our content. Be on the lookout for our next video!
I would find nothing "creepy" about being the love of Burt Reynold's life..maybe it's just me. I like a strong male figure.
Loved Burt! Sally?….not so much…
The coolest thing about Smokey and the Bandit movies was Jerry Reed
We absolutely agree! Thank you for your watching our video. Be on the lookout for the next one!
I recently watched a video of Jerry Reed he's an outstanding guitarist and singer.
Seems he wasn’t the only one that had an ugly side
Sally is a catch. Back then she was 1 of the top 10 sexiest comedian actresses. There's just something about a cute female comedian.
Well said, we agree. Thank you for sharing your sentiments. What other types of videos would you like to see?
Dianna Shore loved him until she died.
Why do people waiting someone dies then start talking bad about them. She should have released her nook while he was still alive, let him defend himself.
The first Smokey and the bandit was great
I remember Sally responding to Burt's comments about her being the love of his life and the one that got away.
I met Burt once, thou a mutial friend Burt was , lets say a man with a quick temper
Interesting, thank you so much for sharing this information! Be on the lookout for our next video ❤
How did you manage to make Burt mad?
That he asked her to marry him several times and she said no. That's amazing cause most women want to get married especially during those years.
Dinah Shore was the love of his life.
Not a big Sally Field fan. Just act.
The interesting thing according to the story is, that Burt Reynolds used to screw up relationships, just like me in my own personal life.
"Imbalance of power"
What a woke statement. P.u.
Where did the information come from about Burt proposing to Dinah Shore? That was the most surprising content that I found in this video. I read Burt Reynolds Autobiography and his relationship ended with Dinah because he desperately wanted to have a child. Dinah had already raised her children with her former husband.
How can she say what his feelings was, just bc she felt one way it doesn't mean anything about how he felt 🤔 .
Never surprising to me that Sally remains wonderful
Hahaha, Reynolds helped her get started in her career then she dumps him, as Sally says life is like a box of chocolate you never know what your gonna do next or some crap like that.
Sometimes The older a man gets the more he regrets the young loves of our lives.....I've never been married but my my shortest relationship of 7 months meant more to me than 10 years
Burt Reynolds, the Godfather of Chads. Sally can retcon this and make it sound like it was no big deal for her, but the truth is, Burt dumped her for Loni and she never quite got over it. The Burt tattoo does not wash off.
I wish she had not said this. She’s mean
Sally and Burt where both OUTSTANDING😊. Are you gyes full of it? I think so.
My mom was obsessed with 'The Flying Nun'
Glad to know that your mom love The Flying Nun! How about you?
@@FactsVerse Mine - Voyage To The Bottom of the Sea and of course Star Trek
I used to think that I liked Sally Fields, but I found out that I really don't. That's okay. If she is content with the way she has lived her life - that's all that matters.
I would think being the Star of "The Flying Nun" would make you a rather large star..
Burt was assured by his mirror he was loved and adored but these smarter women saw thru the fog. His mother was shaking her head no while Loni walked the isle.
True or not true, it’s not very kind nor is it morally sound to speak bad of those whom are dead and no longer able to defend themselves.
She's the quintessential girl next door.🤭
We agree! Thank you for watching our content. Be on the lookout for our next video!
I'm 60 and grew up loving Burt...Smokey and the Bandit was one of my all favorites...Sally was a sweetheart...I dont think she should be talking Bad of a Dead Legend...Burt was a lifetime playboy..Sally knew that...Women Love badboys.
Glad to know that you love Burt! Thank you for sharing your favorites. What other types of video would you like to see?
She should not talk about Bert he is dead let him Rest In Peace .
I thought Sally was the one who wanted to be married ,not Burt. I guess she simply outgrew him.
Bert was not perfect but Sally is not either.
A man's ego and sexual appetite are often his demise.
why do actors always bash the dead when they can't defend them self .
Frankly, she was the worst thing in the movie!
Seems ALL men want what they can’t have ... even Burt Reynolds!😽
And then you wake up!
Top marks for most gormless statement so far.
What Bert ever seen in Loni is beyond me, she done him real bad
She had huge tits, blonde hair--that's about it.
Not polite to speak ill of the dead. Also he can do way better
She is “shallow “, no class.
Remember her outburst at Oscar.
Don’t take sides, she is only actress.
Outburst? Do you mean when she won the Oscar and said, " You really like me!" Not exactly an outburst. Showed surprise and humility.
