I actually turned to UA-cam looking for a video specifically on how to make a granny square blanket rectangular to make a bed cover... and I am delighted to find exactly what I was looking for here! Thank you SO much!!! 🥰🫶🏻
1st time watching, just wanted to say i like this person he's very clear and concise, his voice sounds very calm and relaxed, making it easy to follow along.
Mikey you are the best instructor I have ever come across! Your tutorials are very detailed and very easy to understand and I also like that you explain the yarn and the hook you need besides your diagrams you often have on, thank you for all the beautiful patterns you bring us!
This is the best way to crochet a blanket and I'm now in my second week. I'm not the fastest person to do this but I'm finding it very relaxing. I've tried doing granny squares but I could never stitch them together, I don't have to worry about it with this blanket. I have lots of small bundles of wool and after I have finished this ( my FIRST blanket) I'm going to use all my small bundles, it will keep me interested whilst changing the colours.
I have started 3 patterns , trying to find the best one for my aunt. I saw this on and said VOILA!! Here it is. I love the row of chains and sc. Such a unique twist. Thank you so much. My aunt will love it.
I just found this tutorial and i love it . Im on my second cake. It is beautiful. Thank you . My daughterinlaw wanted a purple afghan. This tutorial was perfect timing. Thank you. Perfect pattern and Perfect pattern.
Oh my gosh thank you so much i only have 2 months to do this blanket and its a very simple yet beutiful pattern. Your voice is also very easy to listen to.
Great stitch and very versatile. Made two shawls: top down and bottom up. Also you can add a bead stitch row in afghan to add interest. Thanks for this pattern
hello mike, you are never ever fast . for me you make it easy for me to understand what you are teaching .and I want to say thank you so every much lord blessings Diane Mckendry
Just made this! I *love* the way it turned out!.So grateful for this pattern - I tried and frogged three or four patterns before I found this. The modern version of the classic granny is just perfect for my godson’s wife. (I think she’ll like the beachy colors I chose.) Thank you, Jeannie! And thank you, Mikey, for the easy-as-pie tutorial! Thank you thank you thank you!!
I love this pattern. It is my favorite to make. I am on my second one. I made a small lap blanket last year using caron big cakes. My daughter said it was the prettiest one she has seen me make. And that is saying something. She never cares much for the things I make. But this she likes the pattern. Now I am making another one. Granddaughter has ordered one too. LOL Thanks for making this pattern
Thank you for this pattern I am on my third baby afghan using the modern rectangle. I got back into crocheting making your moss stitch dishcloths. You are a good instructor and I appreciate your style and generosity in filming videos. Thank you.
I loved watching your video. I am a beginner and would love to try to make this Modern Granny Square blanket. Mike does a wonderful job explaining the patterns. 👍Thank you….
Thanks for your videos. I am a knitter and do Tunisian crochet as well. I can read patterns just fine, however, i find reading “crochet” patterns difficult, or at least this one, as I am having trouble focusing on these symbols and “where the hell am I”. Your video cleared it all up for me and I have this memorized now. I am a visual learner. Also, you did an entrelac blanket video as well and I had wonderful success with the blanket I made. Thanks again!!
Mikey Dear, Im starting on my 6th Modern Granny. So simple to make, so impactful! I ve done them each time with Cakes, but have changed up the hook size and found I like 4.5 the best. Not an earth shattering change, but it just makes the spaces a wee but smaller. Hugs and thanks to you and Daniel.
In the videos please always say how you stop at the finished product! New beginners won't know, and if you place a border on them! Love watching you teach us new items! Looking forward to seeing more! God bless! Oh even the experience crocheters need new ideas!lol
I like this a lot so I'm doing one for my niece, she asked me.Thank you for the tutorial that way i can follow the writen pattern easily. Mikey you are wounderful.
I really like how this looks. Thank you Mikey for your tutorials. I have tried this several times and i kept getting frustrated and would pull it out and go on to something else. BUT that means I just watch a different tutorial and learn something else. Each tutorial you present teaches me something new and builds my confidence. And today I'm finally 'getting it' and smacking myself for making it more complicated than it was :P
Happy New Year to All at the Crochet Crowd. Thank you for all that you do. Looking forward to 2017 and all the hooking that we are going to share together. Love and blessings for the new year from Birmingham England. Xxxx
Hi Mikey. Love this tutorial! I was wondering, if you knew, if when starting on the 1st round, must I use the back lopp of the chain or will it look bad if I just use the top loop going all the way around? Thanks so much if you have time to answer. If not, I'll just give it a try to see. Thanks, by the way, for everything, all the time.
Thank you for the tutorial. You are so good in what you do. Before I go further along, could you share the gauge to check whether I am stitching correctly. :)
I'm not sure. I'm not sure. if I suggest this, people will want a size difference for finishing and I won't know that unless I did it on my own in full size to check it.
Love it! I'm unable to use the same yarn you used, I'm allergic to wool. I'm using Premier Yarn's called Sweet Rolls made up of 100% acrylic. Thank you for the video.

Beautiful work, is il possible to change the stiches as we change the colors please
I'm unsure. Play with it and see if it's possible.

Simple elegance.
Thank you for all your tutorials. Is it possible to calculate how many chain to start with in order to have a specific size blanket?
I don't have that worked out at this time. I don't have other sizes tested to know for sure.
Can this afghan be made as big as a king size bed? Will enlarging it throw the shape off?
