    For a continuation of doing this with the work facing you always, I have been doing a join-as-you-go technique. I do a sc instead of the last chain in a corner to arrive in the middle of the corner and then do half the work of the next round initial corner to begin the round and end it with the second half of the corner and a sc to take the place of the last chain of the round.
    So in the first row of the granny square, you usually have chain of so many spaces and slip stitches in the first chain 3 of the first cluster of stitches. Instead of doing this, I just do one less chain between the last and first cluster and then the single crochet in the first chain three spot. Then chain the number for the next row because you are already in the right place for the second part of this corner.
    Do the rest of the row instructions from the second half of the first corner, in the pattern here, the second single crochet and onwards around to the last chain 3 and sc into the same space that you started in, chain the amount you are doing in the corners except for the last stitch do as a single crochet into the first single crochet of the row.
    Then it would be the chain for the next row as you go along. In this case it would be the taller ones.
    Good luck. I hope this is clear. The comment is being made on a small screen.

      Interesting, Delores. I and other crocheters often share joining techniques. Maybe , checking for “playlists “ on various channels would help you find what you’re looking for.
      For example, I have a playlist focused on joining /sewing in various ways.

      You can absolutely stay on the same side if you prefer 👍🏻. I noticed it was wanting to skew on me the bigger I went so I started over and turned after every round. That could just be a “me” problem but I also have this issue with regular granny squares . So to fix it, I turn after each round. It keeps it nice and square .

    New subscriber. This video popped up on my feed and I love it. I've been looking for a pattern to use to make my new grandbaby a blanket. This one is perfect.
    I've watched tutorials from a lot of different channels and yours are the most detailed that I've found.

    I really like this pattern. Do you have tips on alternating/carrying colors so that the chain 3 rows contrast against the cluster rows?

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  5 місяців тому

      Yes, this is done often and you can find examples of it if you look for “the block stitch” .
      I made one years ago but I just fastened off and on for each round . I don’t think I carried the yarn. I can’t quite remember.

    I'm doing a charity crochet challenge for the whole of November, crochet for at least 30 mins every day so by the end of the month I will have made a blanket.
    I'm thinking my last round should be the cluster round, do you have any suggestions or can point me in the direction of a border?
