Let's try and crochet every day in November and if you don't know what to make, make some rectangles and by the end of the month you will have a blanket. Assembly on 16 Nov Border on 30 November! Enjoy! Anja x
I've made rectangle granny stich blankets on the past, but never started them this way. It's so much easier, and prettier! The center just looks so natural, like it was meant to be this way. Other tutorials are ok, but yours is definitely my favorite! 😊 Thank you
You deserve a 🏅for the BEST teacher on this entire network. Nobody comes close to how simple and exact your demo is for this rectangular pattern.. Kudos to you. I am now ready to crochet a rectangular afghan with the colors of my choice. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
I really like this idea of smaller rectangle version of your kiss blanket. I don't know if I have enough stash to complete the blanket but it is a start to using up my stash, especially the smaller balls of my stash. Thank you Anja for all you do. You and Dirk work so hard for us. Bless you both♥️
I have been making this version for a couple of years now. It has taken over as my favourite version of a granny square/rectangle. My latest version is three strands crocheted together. Two strands are 1 ply yarn in two different colours, a dark and a light, which stays throughout the blanket. The third strand is a 4 ply yarn which I change colour on each round. Makes for a very heavy blanket.
Hi Anya what a great idea rectangles all put together in a blanket I love that idea.a great stash buster.or an excuse to go and buy lots of different colours ha ha.thank you anya.looking forward to doing this .💝💝💝
Well it's not November yet, but what a brilliant Idea! I love it ! I have a lot of yarn I need to use , so will be doing this for sure . Who knows, it may end up being an heirloom ❤😂
I've always steered away from these as I didn't like the way you normally do the centre. This way looks so much easier and looks tidier, am definitely going to try this. It looks fabulous
Ophelia, I love your work and think that everything you do is beautiful and well-crafted. But I wanted to share my experience with others: Don't do like I did and think this Stash Buster idea would work as one big rectangle as a blanket. I kept going and going around and around and it turns out clusters are sort of like knit stitches in that they are wider than they are high. The effect is a wonky rectangle that pulls in at the sides and pushes out at the corners and will never lie flat. I learned something!.
@@SL-nv6zv So glad you noticed my comment and it saved you some grief! Mine became a dog blanket as the problem became noticeable at about that size so no harm done.
Coming back to add something I learned--but haven't tried yet. I read online that when making a continuous round after round granny-cluster rectangle you can avoid misshapen wonkiness by flipping your work after each round and thus working in the opposite direction. So first you will have the right side facing you and then have the wrong side facing you.
Beaut to watch and listen to you work. Thankyou for such a simple clear and easy to follow tutorial. Much appreciated. Cheers from Western Australia.✌🏻🌷🌿
This is the second time I've watched the video. I can't get over how beautiful this blanket is, and how many ways you can change up the color scheme. I have not started it yet can't decide whether I want to make Christmas theme blanket or something for the spring. Wait! I can do both💜💜💜💜💜
This is so cute! I think I will make this and actually keep for myself. 🥰 lol. Most of my stuff if given or specifically made for someone else. 💙💙💙💙 Thank you Ana!!
I had a box filled with small balls of yarn, so I put them into bigger balls and I practiced the ripple stitch ( did not have pattern only my grandmother's explanation on how to crochet one) and made a chain and just kept going to use the whole box of the different colors when i finished my father claimed it and put on his couch for himself
Looks great! I guess I should have waited as I have already started your entrelac blanket to use up my stash. But made of cotton one of these rectangulars might look good as a table mat. Anyway I have lot's of WIPs and ideas so it won't be difficult for me to crochet every day this month.
Oh my word. A version of a retangle that i can understand and follow. Only one problem. I want to make a table runner for a very long dinning rm table. Could you pkease gibe me a stitch count, so i dont have to spend a loooong time trying to figure it out myself. Thank you and God bless you.
Hi Mary, I'm sorry I'm afraid I don't know how many you'll need, I suggest you start with a long chain, maybe as long as your table and see how it goes!! Good luck, Anja x
Hello! I just found your site and love it! This is exactly what I need for my daughters afghan… she has a lot of beautiful yarn that she wants me to use. I am a novice crocheter so my question: can this be as large as I want? She wants an afghan at least 45x60. Thank you!!!
Hello Rebecca, it's made of rectangles, so you can make as may as you need to make it the size you desire! I would make one, then measure it and you can work out how many pieces you need for the size, I hope this helps, Anja x
Thank you so much!! It does help! In the meantime I have found another if your patterns that might be even easier! I am intrigued and excited about the Jewels of the Nile too. You do such a beautiful job explaining and showing things that I believe I might attempt it! Thank you!!❤️
Hi Have lots of yarn in my stash, but it's not DK weight, it's #4 Weight. Can I use that? Always wondered how to make this rectangle, love it, thank you.
What is the finished size of one rectangle. I'm hoping to make a shawl using the technique to generate a rectangle that is 24-34" wide by 65-75" long, using just one rectangle.
Ms. Ophelia.. lovely video....i have a question..i wont to make your rectangle table cloth but i want to make it a size 48 inches length by 24 inches breath so what length should i make the first chains.. i mean how many numbers should i make the row of first chains.. can you please tell me thank you
Hi Ophelia. I'm brand new to crochet and this looks easy enough, but I don't want to change colors. I just want to practice a rectangle. So do I just keep going around and around or will that make a spiral? I'm confused. Thanks so much for sharing.

I’ve tried for 2 days to get this. I give up. But I love your videos & a friend gave me a yarn pack to make the JJH. I’ll start it when I get caught up with my temperature blanket. 😊

Hi
Have lots of yarn in my stash, but it's not DK weight, it's #4 Weight. Can I use that? Always wondered how to make this rectangle, love it, thank you.
Yes, you can use worsted but need a bigger hook. I started one using Caron Big Cakes as I don't have scraps like that.
Hi,
THANK YOU.
Yes, absolutely Gail, you can use whatever you have, but l would suggest keeping to the same weight throughout the panels. Anja x
Ok,

Can you tell me what the measurements on the blanket when finished is. TIA

Will the blanket turn out big if I only chain 36?
The blanket is made of rectangles Daisy, so you make them as big as you want them to be, just add as many rows as you wish. Anja x
