That’s interesting. There is clearly a link between watch and hi-fi collecting. I already subscribed to both of you. Nice to listen to an engaging and well mannered conversation.
Randy, after following pretty much every audio reviewer on UA-cam for years, I've realised that your reviews are plain, honest and relatable, free from agenda or bad blood. You don't have some complicated or jaded past from being inside the audio industry. You've come to love audio like the common man. And for that your reviews are in my opinion the most genuinely informative, entertaining and authentic. You're a trailblazer, and unique in this industry which why you are as of today, the only audio UA-camr I'm subscribed to.
wow. thank you. could also make me terribly unqualified to do it. but I do enjoy making videos and talking to people
32:00 It's autism. The pure intensity of hobbies like watches, cars, and audio just works with the tism.
What makes these UA-cams so interesting is the fact that we viewers come into your homes and see the real you and much more intament on a personal level which makes it more rewarding experience.
Totally enjoyed the interview. I am an amateur watch collector and audiophile love both hobbies!! I am also an avid viewer of both of your channels. They seem to go hand in hand. Bravo!
Great interview. Ken Kessler is a great reviewer/writer on watches and audiophile gear. There’s definitely a connection in the appreciation of both.
Love to see Christian on the channel! So surprised to see two of my favorite channels together. Congrats on the Sprite as well!
Why do many of us collect something? Because the world we live in is ephemeral and often shallow. Collecting something-passionately-provides a personal value and continuity to our lives. It becomes part of us.
You nailed it
Need more hifi podcasts!!!!!
If I had the money, I would love a Roger W Smith watch. However, if I had enough for one of them, I could buy my dream system, including some Avantgarde speakers.
I think you posted to the wrong channel….
I love the idea of shifting your channels focus to telling stories and focusing on smaller companies. Spending money is voting for who you want to succeed in the market, and I think supporting companies who’s interest isn't focused on short term profits to the degree larger corporations/conglomerates likely are will only help consumers
Whoa! Tell me more about your Miata. This is the first time I’ve heard you talk about your Miata. My wife and I travel the US in our NC 2013 GT PRHT. We used to have 1991 NA back in 1993 through 2002. We are part of the Louisville, KY Miata Club.
Christian is the true OG. Love his material.
Cambridge Evo with Michelle turntable, and some nice Italian speakers?
The bigger the drinking glass, or should I say the drinking vessel, the more important the guy. 😂
Great vid. Look forward to the follow up vid.
Watches - Eye Candy
Speakers/Headphones - Ear Candy.
Worlds are colliding. George is getting upset!
I don't really see a connection between watches and audio gear unless there are mostly snobs in both hobbies or something, that would be a connection. The only other connection is that both are one trick ponies, one just tells time and the other plays back recorded music while both offering a choice of aesthetics (without which there would be no hobby in either).
Yes! Didn’t know I needed this. But I did. Christian needs a new ADHD outlet to spend money on. Same bud.
He doesnt like to replace gear so i would have recommended Schiit audio Jotunheim, they are modular and can upgrade in future...
Off comment but can you please do a review of the crown xli series amps? I was not aware that they are A/B class until recently. For the price I can't believe they are class A/B. I think that's what the crowns you reviewed in the past were missing is they were class D's. Would be right up your ally. I just ordered the XLI 800 on amazon for $350 for a DIY 15" home sub build I did. They are way under rated. Williston did a dyno on the 1500 and it did 1,244 watts certified at 8 ohms. A/B is a linear signal. D is basically a synth signal.
You should reevaluate your definition of a star.
Universes colliding !!! I love both of these channels 👍
This guy is not an "og". Paul Pluta, aka AC3, that's an "og" to the youtube watch world.
Never heard of these guys
Collecting stuff for the sake of it is IMHO pointless. I think having a good watch is more pointless than having good hi-fi, because no matter how good a watch one has, it's not going to tell the time usefully better than a relatively inexpensive one. You can't improve anything tangible by spending appreciably more. The only thing you can do is better satisfy an ego-based desire to own/collect.
It *can* be the same with hi-fi, of course -- I'm sure there are those whose main pleasure is ownership rather than enjoyment of music. For the music lover however, gear is just a means to a tangible and repeatable end -- better appreciation of the music. It's the music that matters, not the gear. Rather than loving things, one has the chance to vicariously enjoy and yes, have gratitude for, others' musical ability/creativity. That's the zen moment -- when the gear enables one to totally forget oneself, becoming one with the music. Art needs its creators, but also its appreciators. Neither makes sense without the other. I suppose one could argue that there are some zen masters in the art and and appreciation of watchmaking, but frankly it's not for me.
IMHO, one doesn't have to spend a fortune to get good sound, but I'd say there's an optimal amount for any given budget. Good reviewers can help in that optimisation process, especially if one reads/listens to a number of them, comparing notes and making one's best-informed choices.
Christian is a very solid guy.... He is ALL Class and Style. He has helped me with more purchases, than I can count. Plus we share plenty hobbies like : Cars, Watches, Clothing, Video Production and NOW A/V!
Great Get.
34:30 the difference between men and boys merely is the cost of their toys.
Sorry. No time for another salesman-reviewer..I got music to listen to. See ya..

Talk about digital clocks for audio instead :p I don't watch, watch stuff. Don't even own a watch.
