Dylan is way to conservative in describing the sound charactoristics of his purifi 3 channel ampifier ! It must be because of his midwest values .All 11 speakers sound better because the LCR that drew so much of the power from my system is now only powering the 4 DTX/ATMOS speakers and the very effecient side surround speakers . My AVR is a Yamaha 3080 and I also have a stereo Onyko power amp that is now driving the back surrounds . The incredible Buckeye - Purifi amp is powering the LCR's and the first thing you notice is the headroom and huge sound field . I played 2 disks to quickly test the new amp ,the 4 k Atomic Blond which is DTSX and the Blu Ray of the SADE concert . I have watched both several times and the improvement is not subtle !!! Thank you Dylan for a wonderful buying experience and WORLD class product !
After ordering a 4 channel Buckeye amp (4x150w per channel) I am now considering the 8 channel amp instead drive the entire base layer of my 7.2.4 system. Initially I was just planning on driving the front soundstage, however now I’m wondering how much of a big difference powering 7 instead of 3 speakers will make. I currently have a Denon X4800H receiver that outputs 125w per channel, and I do realize that the rated output is just for 2 channels and goes down for every speaker that I add. I began looking at external amps because I recently purchased back surrounds and then realized that while the receiver will process all 11 channels it will just drive 9 of them. I have all SVS speakers. The front LR are Ultra Bookshelf and the center is Prime center channel. The surrounds are Prime Satellites, and the rear surrounds and heights are Prime Elevations. For subs I have 2 SVS PB-2000s. The sensitivity on the satellites is 85db and it’s 87db on all the rest. Nominal impedance is 8 ohms, though ive seen a couple reviews that say the Ultras are actually 4 ohms so not sure on the front LR. The recommended power on all is 20-150 watts. My MLP is about 11 feet from the front soundstage. Now I’m starting to think that it might make sense to drive the 7 lower channels with Buckeye and give the receiver a huge break by letting it deal with the four height speakers. With my current speaker setup does anyone think that I will I hear a huge difference running 7 speakers via Buckeye vs just the front three? I need to make this decision sooner rather than later since they will be building my amp over the next couple weeks. I’m looking forward to hearing any opinions.
Okay so we discussed power ratings, so as was touched on, so are ratings considered peak or is it that what's advertised is The measurement of peak up to distortion of 1%, or are we judging ratings by what can be achieved continually as long as we don't hit 1% distortion?
How are these as far as longevity vs ab in general? I baby my stuff and have integrated amps that still function as they always have from the 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's all class ab. My only class d amps are in Def Tech towers and subs all of which have failed.
I'm just so glad that these companies are so committed to the sound quality. The quality without the jewellery, I think we'll soon see class D that will compete with the best "high end" on the market. Do any of these amplifiers have feedback for Servo bass system? 🤔
I will say, if you put all the bias and negative stuff you read on forums about Class D amps and try a Ncore or Purifi amp i think most people would be quite surprised. Especially if you have a high end source and decent speakers. For the money they are insane. They’re definitely is a biased towards class D amplifiers. And I agree there are some great class D amplifiers out there that I wish more people would give a chance to.
Trinnov's and Monoprice's D-Class Hypex variations are all built by ATI using the same base modules that Buckeye uses. The ONLY real differences are the use of linear toroidial power supplies and a fancier case... plus a fairly large dealer markup. Dylan also offers a step up Purifi version of Bruno Putzey's modules as well and the power supplies he uses are still ones recommended by Hypex and Purifi. His larger, multi-channel, higher current offerings also have heat sinks.
@@NakeanWickliff I do have a denon receiver but I think it that case it's better to replace that with a stereo thing instead then like the audiolab 7000a or something like that
Ncore NC252 is fine. Does not have a sub out so you you will have to run line level from a preamp or high level off the amp if the sub has high level connections. High level means speaker wire off the amp to speaker wire connects on sub.
Are y'all familiar with Crown XLS? Price per watt they are hard to beat. Even for subs, bridge mode on a 2502 is 24OOW. Ostensibly, far morre than Buckeye at similar price.
Chronic great amplifiers. I use the XTI for my subwoofer duty. One thing to keep mine with the XLS series is that you do lose low end compared to other similar amplifiers. We talked about this at 1:20:04
For subs sure, for full range the difference in sound quality is audible, as is the noise floor, definitely audible. I have one. If you want a HiFi setup don't go with the entry level crown especially if you have sensitive speakers. They're good for the money, but these amps are on a whole 'nother level quality wise.
I believe the Buick Grand National you spoke of was from a store called SpeakerWorks. I competed in the competitions. It was one of the worst-sounding vehicles I ever heard. It was nothing but bass and midrange. There were no mid bass drivers, and they had compression midrange horns under the front seats. It was painful to listen to. And, BTW, our vehicle won 1st Place in our class in virtually every competition we entered. The amplifier challenge is stupid because you weren't listening to the amps as built. He was EQ'ing them to try and make them sound the same. I was a mobile electronics custom installer for over 40 years, and there is definitely a difference in amp sounds. The old school Harman Kardon 60-watt amps would run circles around most amps today twice their size. Current capability is more important than watts. There were car CD players that would destroy most home players in sound quality. There were also some amps that could hold their own. Look at a vintage Alpine 3545. A law was passed in the US long ago requiring home audio amps be advertised at specific ratings. This never applied to car audio. Wattage could be from heat produced.
Richard Clark’s test was flawed because it was filtered sound vs filtered sound. The filter is the lowest common denominator. With a filter in the loop, it voids any comparison.
No if you use RCA, Buckeye amps only have XLR ouput and they said to use a conversion (adapter, cable) for XLR to RCA....this raises a BIG RED FLAG for me because XLR is 4v whereas RCA is 2V which causes issues (impedence, noise).
You mean input not output I assume. There will be no impedance or noise issues. Your concerns are unfounded, buckeye amps have input gain/sensitivity settings, that include settings for a ~2v input. He discusses the RCA to XLR cable (not adapter) halfway through the video too. All that matters is the input gain/sensitivity, i.e what input voltage will drive the amp to max power, and his amps have multiple gain settings. XLR/RCA is of no concern here.

Who cares about a warranty? All of these amps will last decades. And written 7 year warranty or not, if there's an issue with your buckeye I'm sure he'd take care of you. But there will be no issue. @@philstevens9914 that's a class a amp not at all comparable to the buckeye amps. MOST amps are ultra reliable long lasting devices. Interconnects do not add "richness", what an absurd subjectivist audiophile thing to say. That's in your mind my dude, sighted/price/brand bias. No measurements to support any such claim. In the most extreme cases of cable comparison, the only thing that could even theoretically take place is a tiny variation in the rolloff at very high frequencies. There is no mechanism by which an interconnect can add "richness" or affect the tone or timbre or anything of the sort. Who cares about a warranty? All of these amps will last decades. And written 7 year warranty or not, if there's an issue with your buckeye I'm sure he'd take care of you. But there will be no issue.
Cars need warranties, simple power amplifiers do not. This is an indestructible extremely insanely reliable device.
@@Artcore103 You're 100% wrong! I have a 7 channel Krell Chorus amp that has just cost me $1800 to fix and it was inside f 7 years old. I own a ton of ARC, Esoteric, 5 x Theta Citadels, etc, etc and it's all
heavy to ship and expensive as hell to fix when something goes wrong, unless of course you're an experienced technician and are willing to provide us all with free repairs when the sh1t breaks?
@@philstevens9914 that's a class a amp not at all comparable to the buckeye amps. MOST amps are ultra reliable long lasting devices. Maybe overpriced "audiophile" gear is less reliable on average, since so much of the cost is in markup and not engineering, that certainly seems plausible. He gets into the failure rate in the video, it's very small. Plus he does offer replacement. Unfounded concern, in that it's statistically extremely unlikely to have issues within 7 years. These amps are also better than your krell in every measurable way and more powerful. Only additional spec I'd like to see on a graph is thd at 1w and under. Class a amps are inherently very inefficient and run hot, these are the opposite. And objectively superior despite the subjective biases and flowery adjectives of the golden ears. Krells site is full of meaningless subjective terminology and even technical inaccuracies. I'm sure they're great amps, but not worth the money. I wonder what broke in your amp, was it an output stage, a transformer, or something digital relating to the controls/firmware etc... and I wonder how much it actually cost krell to fix it vs what they charged you. HiFi markup is traditionally insane, hence: Buckeye.
@@Artcore103 Don't care what you say. Warranty is warranty and a manufacturer that is prepared to put a 7 year warranty behind a product that they know their potential customer base is is still gun shy about buying shows confidence in their product and is putting their money where their mouth is. I've been in manufacturing for most of my 40 year career and I know how hard it is establishing new products in markets such as the US where people are closed minded and DON'T like change.
@@philstevens9914 he does warranty his products and stand behind them - he's only had to replace 3 out of over 1000. I understand why some are comforted by seeing a warranty, but to me it means nothing. And for a small outfit like this, it might just be impractical to make it a legal "warranty" in black and white, but by reading reviews and forums and hearing from other owners and the manufacturer, I can easily decide my confidence level in both the product and the seller without an official warranty - and maybe he has one, I don't know, and I don't care. These are inherently insanely reliable devices.
It's all about specs here, what the hell happened to how components sound when reproducing music ! Designing by data is too many audio engineer's goal and we witness it everywhere these days. I've heard mega-expensive rigs that left me cold yet another setup for less than £1k was sublimely musical.
Love Buckey amps, but I wish they would have left out the Amir tests, the credibility when down in my opinion because in certain cases Amir is so far off the mark as far as "if it tests the same then it sounds the same".
Have 2 Rythmik F12s in my hifi rig that I love. REL---nah!!
I'd be willing to bet that alpine research into the low noise floor class d is surpassed all three of these brands they have been engineering their own amplifiers since the 80's they have done amazing things with class d also taking any amplifier to the car audio world would simply mean redesigning the power supply these still have power rails and work on the same exact principles as any old class d amplifier Noone has developed a new amplifier here
Wrong
10 KHz square wave response is terrible, compared to AB1 designs.
Not a realistic test, plus the method of carrying out such tests is often problematic and has issues. These amps are in fact effectively perfect, period.
@@Artcore103 Sorry, I can prove to anyone who isn't deaf, other than for a sub woofer, Class D just sound bad! You need to use Purple book source, a wide bandwidth preamp and loudspeakers with pinpoint imaging. The mid range and imaging are muddy. Another proof is to do a null test which will audibly be noticeable; but I am sure you don't know what a null test is. As a final note, the only listenable Class D amps that I have heard use gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors which have a much wider bandwidth. It seems that all other designs remind me of first generation CD players with brick wall filters.
@@Artcore103 These Buckeye kits are a rip-off! If you think Class D amps are any good... Crown XLs are HALF the price and produce TWICE the current into low impedance loads. Or the FOSI V2 monos at ONE third the price.
@yinzer8192 When you say crown, I can tell you must be clown now Crack another joke.
@@yinzer8192 But the distortion levels and damping factor on those Crowns are not very good. They are cheap for a reason.
no good car audio amps!? oookay, you should hear a good tuned sq build
Then name an amplifier example please.
Nick your audio is terrible...
Yeah, about the first eight minutes I had over clipped my mike. The issue is when I use it with my digital camera. I have to have the gain set up higher. On the computer, the gain needs to be lowered. Thankfully, someone told me about eight minutes in and I fixed it.
Nick: your mic-gain is TOO HIGH! ...so unpleasant to listen to. 👎
It seemed perfectly fine to me. I think it's your setup.
I bought the C298 because it has the M23's Eigentakt:
1) it's less $
2) it has more features like adjustable knob gain, RCA loopout for 2 subwoofers, trigger output to my 2 subwoofers
I want the clarity. I add richness via my Cardas Parsec RCA interconnect cables.
I upgraded from a Parasound 2125v2 (already sounds really good).

Use a tube preamp if you want to add "richness" and degrade your signal and fidelity.
a show about Hi Fi audio products with Crappy sound .. get a Mike Check guy.. sloth and stupidity are a Millennialism thing, I get it, still very stupid.
