i personally run all pre-outs to a JBL Nanopatch volume control which then runs to my subwoofer. i'm sure most of you are like me, i need to adjust my subwoofer constantly to match the source material. there is no standard in the music industry when it comes to a final master of any recording so one recording has anemic low end and another will blow the driver out of the box. i recommend using a dedicated volume control in front of your subs.
I got mine yesterday via kickstarter, with the 48v 5A power supply. I have the TB10D and Lintons. when I hooked up the V3 I could tell a difference. Need to do an a/b comparison to absorb the details. right now I have the tb10d powering my sub, and the V3 running the Lintons via a line level high pass filter. My Mojo 2 outputs to both amps (has two 3.5mm output jacks).
@@crazyprayingmantis5596 I was thinking the same thing. Although it's nice he already has great speakers...he can upgrade the amp when the time and money comes.
to explain, the high pass is in line with the V3, which in turn is deiving the Lintons. I already have a TB10D so I am using that to feed my speedwoofer. My Mojo 2 has two outputs so that was the easiest way to split the signal. my goal was to limit the low bass going to the Lintons.

So I bought this as a core of a soundbar replacement system. I haven't assembled the system yet but I'm thinking I may have made a mistake for one reason. My wife is on board with upgrading the sound and wants to add a turntable. What she really is used to is the Roku remote controlling the soundbar. I think I may need to go with the Marantz 1200 because it has eArc and that convenience might be better than the steps needed with the V3 and the separates. I could always put it together and see how it goes or maybe I should be preemptive and use the V3 elsewhere.
I'm using one to drive Auratones with the original PSU, since I knew they cutoff at 75Hz and have little top end. The expectation was that it would be linear enough to use as a reference for a second pair of monitors in the studio, and my expectations are entirely fulfilled, with the knob at half its output I can comfortably run the setup at mix levels (not particularly loud, 75-85db). Only thing missing are balanced ins, but that's not really a feature of consumer electronics.
FWIW, I would watch speaker pairings from another aspect. These class D amps are load dependent. By that I mean 8ohm speaker loads tend to drive the amp to a little brighter presentation. 4ohm speaker loads drive a more linear to slightly rolled off top end.
Getting excited waiting for mine to arrive, I will post more comments when it does on how I get on. Going to pair it with the Bludento BLT-2 streamer and Wharfdale Diamond speakers.
Hi randy was able to buy also the last pc for less than a hundred usd it came with the 48v 5 amp the sound were clearer and used it as a pre amp also adding the modified a07 aiyima and was met by a wall of boosted sound
Would it be possible to do a video about where to find upgraded power supplies for amps like this & the Aiyima A07? Possibly a review of power supplies with low enough noise floor for audio use.
I bought one of these (with 48V) thinking technology might have progressed to the point that it might be better than my mid 1990s entry level Cambridge audio amp ... NOPE. I was planning on using it for my second stereo set up ... but instead it is being used for my spare TV. oh well
Not for me as I have no need or place for it but I find this amp kinda amazing for $80 bucks new. It has the usual class D chip limitations and drawbacks (FR load dependency) but still pretty good for the money.
I received my V3 today and while trying it out it almost blew my subwoofer. It appears that the pre-out is always on maximum volume on my device. The volume pot does not attenuate the signal to the pre-out. This must be a manufacturing flaw. My BT20a does not do this of course. I'm curious if others are seeing this too.
I immediately ignore amplifiers that don't have variable output. It's a shame. If this is not a manufacturing error, this is certainly a deal breaker for people like me who want a full-range sound system.
If the pre-out is always on maximum volume, then it's not a pre-out! That would be a deal breaker for me, also. We'll see what my unit does when it arrives.
@@MarcoGregoretti That's good to know. That's how it should behave. My bt20a pre-out changes volume. I returned the first unit and ordered a second. Fingers crossed.
So I finally dug into the manual. The manual clearly states that the pre-out does not affect the volume. Why would they do this? That makes this amp unusable to me.
I think Amazon is being shady because it's said "only 1 left in stock" since I looked at it last night, and I ordered one, and it STILL said 1 left in stock...
They code that to their nearest warehouse to you, for shipping logistics stats. It never gives you system-wide results, unless you happen to actually hit a warehouse with the only unit in the system. The algorithm has nothing to do with you, it's for internal use.
Dear cheapaudioman, love your videos, I've decided to buy the V3, I want to know your thoughts on this chain, and help me decide if the 48vol is really necessary instead of the 32vol power: iFi Audio ZEN DAC V2 → Schiit Loki Mini+ → Fosi Audio V3 → Speakers: Focal Chorus 706V (Max. POwer 120w, 8 ohms) Many thanks !!
You should consider breaking up reviews on some products like what you did with this Fosi V3. (as long as you publish them consecutive days.) BTW, mine is being delivered today. Going to compare it, with 48w power supply, to the Fosi TB10D and Fosi BT20A Pro. Either the BT20A Pro or V3 will be returned and I'll eat the return fee, or maybe sell it locally. BTW, the TB10D sounds a bit better with the bigger power supply, which I just bought a couple weeks before the Fathers Day sale where I bought the BT20.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this environment (coming from car audio) i stumbled upon the Fosi audio kit recently because I'd really like to put together a small form factor auio environment for a personal chill out environment. Initially i wanted the FA ZA3, but is not yet available on my local amazon, so decided on the V3. To add to this i opted on 2 different pre amps, the FA P3 for digital inputs and the FA BOX X2 for phono input, my speaker pairing will most likely be a choice of the Klipsch SP-160M and headphones will be the Meze classic 99s. My 1st question (obviously) is will this setup work well? (I listen to wide range of music from classic rock to jazz to EDM). The 2nd question, would my other amp options of the BT20A pro or MC101fit better? I havent really found many reliable reviews on these to decide. I plan to mostly play vinyl through it, hence the phono pre amp, and I'd like to connect my tv/media player and my mobile through the digital side with bluetooth. Any advice will be appreciate so thanks in advance. Edit: Just found Randy's video of the MC101 and BT20A.

Digging your channel and reviews! What do you think of using the Fosi Audio V3 with outdoor speakers, PSB CS1000? I was using a Lepai 2020+ with no regrets. However one of the spring click broke and repairs aren't practical and not worth swapping with a new spring clip row.. Interested in maybe buying a new budget quality amp for outdoor use (speakers stay outside until a covered patio, but the electronics go inside after use).
The Topping E50 has more oomph on the bottom if you use a good power supply. It’s a tad anemic with a USB brick, and also those bricks can have an appreciable amount of noise (as I’ve measured it). I don’t ‘hear’ any noise anywhere in the background, but it’s discomforting to know a supply isn’t clean, and can’t help even if it’s not obvious.
@@joc1016 well, apparently, results varies with different power supplies, depending on which ones, the same way it varies with different speakers, but maybe not as exaggerated as with speakers obviously, depending on which ones, of course. Anyway, I just use a linear 5V supply that measures as stable and clean ripple free DC and can supply more current than specified. I’ve heard that some of those more pricey 5V wall warts are a rip-off, (if that’s what you mentioned, I’m not familiar with it), but it’s a mixed bag of opinions out there for sure!

I wasn't quite sure where to drop this. Apologies in advance for going off topic but I'm having a tough time sifting through information. I have a ffew questions and I was hoping you could be of assistance. I am currently updating my system at home. I am not an audiofile. I am replacing a good quality Yamaha surround receiver and in all honesty I'm looking at tube amps because they look so cool. The room it is to go in is modeled in a steam punk style so the tube amp is a perfect fit. On the other side of the situation, I like good sound although music has become less of a priority as I've gotten older. I have found a number of amps that seem to appeal to me but my lack of knowledge makes it difficult to know what to look for and what to avoid. I'm leaning towards products from Nobsound and Douk at the present time but have no brand loyalty either. I is difficult to find reviews on the products I am interested in. I'm seeing some hybrid amps and some that claim to be 'full tube' amps. Nobsound has a model called the av-525 which I have also found under other brands with a model number of av-889. It looks great but as I said I have no knowledge so looks is all I'm going on.. I found a youtube video playing music but how that will demonstrate range and quality of sound I will never know. Do you know anything about this amp? Would you recommend it? I have no idea what I should be looking for. I don't want to break the bank but I don't want junk either. Any help you could offer would be highly appreciated.
Thanks for the info. I have just ordered this directly from Fosi with the 48v power supply. Starting my first system (for a pc) do you think the Polk es15 would work well with this as I have found a pair locally at a great price.
I’m putting together a cheap set up in my garage. All i do is stream in there. I already have a WiiM mini. Thinking about the Fosi V3 and some airmotive B2+. Would i need anything else? Would a Inexpensive DAC be worth the investment?
I have been looking for something just like this to run zone 2 on my Onkyo RZ50. Once I went up to 4 Atmos channels I lost zone 2 without having to go and make a bunch of system changes.
It is a pity that it does not have bass and treble adjustment. Without the adjustments I think it's too risky to try it with the Polk R200 and MA Bronze 100. I think I'll have to get the BT20 Pro which has bass and treble adjustments. Their sound should be similar. Am I right?
I used to feel the same way about bass and treble adjustment. But now I use a graphic equalizer program, since I am using my amp (a07) on a desk top connected with a DAC to my computer. You can use a equalizer program to make bass and treble adjustments to your liking for each song you play. I have an mac mini and use a program called eqMAC.
@@ikoplovitz8690 Yes! - and us PC folks can use Equalizer APO.... Either that or use a Schiit Loki Mini+. Which is what I did for a very long time... Then I bought the Lokius for more control.

Just got mine with the 48v yesterday. The V3 lacks low end punch and had to turn the volume knob almost all the way to get any kind of power even with my highly sensitive speakers with 12" woofers. Maybe I expected too much. Any suggestions on an op amp with deeper bass?
Ive tried opa 1656 and 2604 so far. I like the opa2604 with the v3 amp. Bass is tighter soundstage wider. Details slightly better. Truly I think a great op amp at least paired with my speakers the MA silver 100 7gs. Your mileage may vary depending on audio gear.
I like my Ayima 8 pro better drives my Polk ES15 great in the garage. I’m sticking with my Emotiva A2 with TA1 preamp now that’s cheap audio for the buck.
Hey @cheapaudioman i think u maybe a little biased on this one? Don't u think that u r hyping it up a bit too much? Anyway cheap and good quality gear is always appreciated

i personally run all pre-outs to a JBL Nanopatch volume control which then runs to my subwoofer. i'm sure most of you are like me, i need to adjust my subwoofer constantly to match the source material. there is no standard in the music industry when it comes to a final master of any recording so one recording has anemic low end and another will blow the driver out of the box. i recommend using a dedicated volume control in front of your subs.
@@crazyprayingmantis5596 Maybe some day.......
@@crazyprayingmantis5596 I was thinking the same thing. Although it's nice he already has great speakers...he can upgrade the amp when the time and money comes.
what low pass filter are you using for the sub?
Harrison Labs FMOD 70hz high pass line level from Parts Express. I have a Speedwoofer and thats what RSL recommended.
to explain, the high pass is in line with the V3, which in turn is deiving the Lintons. I already have a TB10D so I am using that to feed my speedwoofer. My Mojo 2 has two outputs so that was the easiest way to split the signal. my goal was to limit the low bass going to the Lintons.
Sent my back today ..... because I went to fosi audio shop and got the V3 48v and the Orange Knob for 86 UK pounds? and free shipping so go there . Insane value .
I have no need for another amp but I'm tempted just because of the review.
You won't be disappointed.
This amp sounds amazing without a subwoofer with my tower Mirage OM9's. Running a tube Suca T1 before it and an IFi Dac. Fosi 48V 5A power supply also which was worth the investment for me!! Sounds incredible! This is definitely not a desktop only amp!!
the 3 sound great, its jut matter of what your need/preferences, some cases c9 works better
thing is reviews always use 'best in class' dacs so best amp always sound better, its not always for real life setups
Randy is right. I had the Fosi V3 connected to KEF Q100s and it was to tinny in the high end . Switched to the Aymia A07 upgraded and sounded much better. I am going to mod the fosi v3 with the sparkos op amps. I must say it is alot of fun being able to roll the op amps.
The sabaj a10h could be an excellent choice to use as a preamp (with a remote) with this unit (and then choose your dac). It seems like the perect choice as a stackable preamp. It also has the bonus of being a good headphone amp.
What do you need for a preamp for V3?
@@fosiaudio A remote, tone controls, some eq options (like bass boost, loudness, etc.), adicional imputs, trigger in and out, spatial/ 3d options, etc. It could also have the option to work solid state or tubes and replace opamps.
@JoseFerreira-zb7wh Thank you so much for your suggestions, but I'm affraid there are too much functions for such a little box, if let you choose 3~4 functions, which do you prefer and why?
@@fosiaudio remote is the most important feature so One can Control all fosi's amps from a distance. if you intend to put trigger ins/ outs in future units you could also put them here. that way One can control the whole stack from the preamp (dac, amp, etc). tone controls (for use with the v3. you could include a "mids" option apart from bass and treble) and some eq profiles would be Nice.(bass Boost and loudness) oh and of course, a small (dimmable or auto on/ off function) screen so the user can see what he's doing. The aiyima t9 pro already has some of these things. Maybe pick up on it and improve it/ add to it?
@@JoseFerreira-zb7wh Thank you, we are developing a fosi audio P4 which has remote, tone control, but without trigger ins /outs and auto on/off. If we decide to add trigger in/out, then we need to improve this V3.
I like this follow up type of video. I’m sure it’s efficient for you instead of replying to every good comment as well.
Wouldn't it been a good idea if an 'Optical Toslink' connections too existed along with the RCA Line in ?
Getting excited waiting for mine to arrive, I will post more comments when it does on how I get on. Going to pair it with the Bludento BLT-2 streamer and Wharfdale Diamond speakers.
Hi Tony! What model of diamond?? I’m thinking pair one of V3 with diamond 12.2. Source Wiim Pro + smsl su1
Sold Out! Rewiers make a Great Job
Actually in Italy, amazon sells it at 110€ so quite a bit more than 90$, but it is still ok, waiting for it to deliver!
It says so in the manual. But I was chatting with them regarding this. Q: Does the volume knob control the pre-out output level? A: Yes
Amazon shady? Nooo! 😅
They code that to their nearest warehouse to you, for shipping logistics stats. It never gives you system-wide results, unless you happen to actually hit a warehouse with the only unit in the system. The algorithm has nothing to do with you, it's for internal use.
When you want to tone down the V3 with brighter speakers use the OPA2604's in it. They are warmer less detailed opamp, rolled of on top.
Yeah I listened to Fosi’s OpAmp demo and found the stock op amp surprisingly grainy.
This should be CAMs next V3 addendum!
(as long as you publish them consecutive days.)
BTW, mine is being delivered today.
Hi, is v3 better than bt20a pro in terms of sound quality?
"I bought the last one" ...NO, I'M SPARTICUS!!! 😂
t actually measures cleaner than a $625 mini Gan 3 class D audio (brand) amp
Thanks for the double review. Thoughts on how the sound of the V3 compares to the G-Horn and Rekkr?
Good stuff! You should have to do Darko’s accent when you do these 😂
Thank you
Hi There, much appriciate your thoughts. At minute 8.00 where you are mentioning DAC paring, you are saying that SMSL SU1 output can not be handled over Fosi V3 volume knop ?....I thing ther´s maybe is a confusion with Fosis fixed Subwoofer output?
Things are looking up here for the under $100 category.
Please also cover and talk about affordable DSPs that we can either use inside a DIY powered speaker or amps to adjust frequency response by feeding back calibrated mic input to it
something like adau1401a or adau1701 dsp boards . thanks love your channel
Fosi v3 is now flagged by Amazon as a frequently returned item. Mine lasted two weeks…..great little amp but with QC issues….😞
maybe if V3 used alone and not at high loud volume, there's a lack of of rich deep bass. otherwise V3 is great.
I'm looking for a small bluetooth receiver such as this for my bedroom . I own a pair of Klipsch RP600M gen 1 speakers that I'm not really using due to upgrading and want a micro amplifier so I may try this .
Cool, perfect as usual, if anyone says differently then we’ll go poop on their porch, also John darko sent me a snapchamp vid of him doing an interpretive dance and, if I’m deciphering it correctly, he approves of this vid too, maybe I shouldn’t have had an energy drink with lunch…
It's it possible to use something like Aiyma T9 as a preamp? One would gain remote and could split T9's aux out for subwoofer control?
So many people want a preamp?
Many people want remote control.

Hey Randy, i enjoyed both your videos on the v3.. and i think i got the last one form amazon this morning.. i have the ayima t9 pro and have enjoyed it.. how do you think the v3 will play with a arylic s50 pro and Heresy 1's? im hoping i havent made a mistake with buying this for that setup.. it does sound pretty impressive with the t9 pro.
Speaking of heat dissipation, I've got the ayima a07. I cut a 1.5 in. diameter hole in the top and mounted a fan to it, got it wired at 2ohms and it freaking JAMS!
@@kraig7777 I've never let my a07 heat up because I'm just paranoid about the caps being pressed right up against the heatsink. Plus being wired down to 2ohms and me also loving deathcore and drum & bass, I just want to play it safe-ish lol
I got one a few weeks ago and it’s incredible 😀. Can you bridge this amp to perhaps double its power and use 2 of them as monoblock pair?
The Topping E50 has more oomph on the bottom if you use a good power supply. It’s a tad anemic with a USB brick, and also those bricks can have an appreciable amount of noise (as I’ve measured it). I don’t ‘hear’ any noise anywhere in the background, but it’s discomforting to know a supply isn’t clean, and can’t help even if it’s not obvious.
I disagree.
I bought a ifi power supply for my e50, seemed to kill dynamics.
Went back to a phone charger.
Bit maybe your experience was different.
@shipsahoy1793 it's an ifi ipower 80 euro.
Gets great reviews.
Suppose it's system dependent
So no real consensus here then??
@@markcook9084 Not clear as to what you are referring to?
The consensus is that one’s mileage may vary, dependent upon you, your environment, and the synergistic component of the items put together. That’s always the general theme. Audio is a very personal thing. In other words, to decide anything, you have to do your own investigations.
I read a lot and believe fosi v3 + aune flamingo preamp/dac/tube with possibility of taming a good sound. What do you think?
Starting my first system (for a pc) do you think the Polk es15 would work well with this as I have found a pair locally at a great price.
is it any good to power two polk es10 atmos height channels through marantz avr ?
I just purchased the SKO2 to pair with the BT20APro can you give me so suggestions for speaker pairing thanks much
I'm planning on pairing this with a Sanskrit 10th MKⅡ DAC and R200 Speakers, do you think this would be a good combo?
I’m putting together a cheap set up in my garage. All i do is stream in there. I already have a WiiM mini. Thinking about the Fosi V3 and some airmotive B2+. Would i need anything else? Would a Inexpensive DAC be worth the investment?
A dac would be a must I'd say. Dont use wiims dac it truly is not great.
Which model sounds like the Rotel A11 Tribute? The BT20 Pro or the V3?
So...the Linton, huh? 😄
I have been looking for something just like this to run zone 2 on my Onkyo RZ50. Once I went up to 4 Atmos channels I lost zone 2 without having to go and make a bunch of system changes.
How can you suggest speaker pairings on speakers you haven’t heard with this amp?
It is a pity that it does not have bass and treble adjustment. Without the adjustments I think it's too risky to try it with the Polk R200 and MA Bronze 100. I think I'll have to get the BT20 Pro which has bass and treble adjustments. Their sound should be similar. Am I right?
Schiit Loki mini+ or Lokius... Separate tone controls FTW
I tried the link but couldn't find the 48V option.
Hi thanks for additional points. I have a silly question, has anyone compared it againat marantz nr 160x? I rush with explanation, I have AVR but currently due moving to smaller flat I only use it for stereo. Wondering if I can minimize footprint under my tv :)

Hi Randy 👋 does it auto turnoff when no signal??
Disappointed I cant use a sub with the V3.
The A300 is a better fit for my UB5's and PSW10 even if it has inferior SQ. Plus I gain a HPF, remote, bluetooth, EQ, two rca inputs, and sw out.
I found out that the pre out can also work as an imput, tried it and it works, also found out that this changes the rca imput into pre out will try this out and get back with results later.

Yes, if you want more power, you can get the 48V power supply.
I am looking for a cheap amp, with sub out. Would it be safe to say the BT30D would get the same review?
That is more like the TB10D
I don’t think so. Considering that he’s saying these stand a cut above other amps using the same TPA3255 chip, it would seem that the topology of this amp might be superior to previous attempts. Provided the EE components are actually the advertised Japanese and German units and not counterfeits depending on the lot(counterfeit components are very common even from reputable suppliers like digikey), and better effort on thermal design is what sets this apart. Why not use the pre out to your subwoofer?
