    This is pretty much the end of prime Federer for me. I've never seen the same focus, footspeed and firepower again from Fed between 2010-2020, with a few exceptions here and there.

      True except for 2017. Spot serve best yr ever. Backhand best year ever which beat Nadal AO 2017. Movement 2017 less explosive than early years but smoother, looser, more efficient. Only year Fed does not drop a set Wimbledon. Record 2017 54-5. Fed 2017 beats Fed any other time except 2005-2006.

    The point starting @ 5:05. The way Federer constructed it is pure genius. The nano-second decision to go with a backhand rather than the forehand @ 5:16, taking Murray wide off the court with a short angle, and then the killing BH down the line. No Wonder Jim says "Oh my Goodness. That is just abusive"... We love You Roger. There can never be another like you again.

    the angles that federer produced were out of this world. it didnt just require fitness but mili second decision making as well. truly he has the superior tactical level of awareness in the tour. In my opinion I think one of the reasons of this performance was the fact that he was still fast then on his forehand side; because now when he chases the ball on his right side it doesnt have that power like before.

    I can’t believe how small Roger’s rackets’ head sizes were. I never noticed it until now for some reason and they’re SO small! It’s nuts that he played with that for nearly 20 years and still won so many Slams. Imagine if he had switched to a 99-inch frame ten years ago! He might have won as many Slams in the 2010s and he did in the 2000s.

    Andy Murray is noted for his exceptional strategic style of play but here we see Federer outdoing him at his own game. That combined with his explosive forehands, angled backhands and accurate serves overwhelmed Murray.

    Has anyone else spotted how much more SNAP there is to Roger's backhand here? Compared to say - against Djok in Wimb '14? Roger's BH seems much more defensive now than it ever has been. I'd love to see him flatten it out again, like in this match. Pulling the trigger more quickly and more often.

      Yeah I'd agree. There were days when his backhand had much more forward motion (this vid for example) but I can defo see how other players could wear this down. These days it's becoming a liability.

Needless to say that it breaks my heart to even imagine that you will never be seen again in the ATP Circuit after next week. 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔Tennis will never be the same again without you, Rog! Is it just me or have the AO courts become slower, cause Rogers was ripping winner left and right but nowadays its just impossible to do! They need to make the courts faster cause mens tennis is getting a little boring. Players nowadays use more spin they know hitting a winner is pretty much impossible unless you work your opponent out of position!

    • @jbobbster
      @jbobbster 9 років тому +14

      It's not just you. Ever since the AO switched from rebound ace to plexicushion, it's been quite apparent that the court has slowed down. The plexicushion is like sandpaper and balls just sit up, making it harder to end points. The real testament of the AO's slow courts was the 2012 men's final.

    In 2016, I spent an entire morning to enjoy his golden period. He was too strong to the rest. He was unbeatable with his speed, his powerful groundstrokes, world-class volleys, and super serves as well. If folks still judge that he won't be the best of all times, they may think it again. In his time, there were a lot of beast players such as Sampras, Agassi, Safin, Nalbandian, Davydenko, L. Hewit, Roddick, Nadal, Murray, Lopez.etc, but he has been on top from 2002. If someone asks me whether Djokovic can defeat that Roger, I'm going to say NOPE. It's sad that Roger will be off until 2017.

    • @Madferit91
      @Madferit91 7 років тому

      Sampras isn't form Roger's generation. And Agassi was already ald. Then, Safin, Nalbandian, Roddick, Davydenko, Hewitt and Gonzales, are amazing players without a shadow of a doubt. But they are no match for Djokovic, Nadal and Murray. Roger dominated a weak era. This three guys took over that generation and beat them up. All this guys became a joke after 2008, when they were still young, because they couldn't hold up to the new generation. (Except for wimbledon 2009 were Roddick played amazing). As for Roger, he is the only one from this weak generation who was actually good. But look at his grand slams from this decade. Don0t get me wrong, he is ONE OF THE best in history, but he is not THE best.

    • @andreaho4841
      @andreaho4841 7 років тому +2

      Alex Sander This is the first time I ever heard folks announce that Roger had been through a weak generation of which there were dozens of genius players and some even become legendaries. Roger was superior to his generation, still unbeatable in Nadal's generation (players born after 1986). Now he's 6-year elder than Djokovic, and Iron Man never gets easy matches against him. Perhaps you're right Roger is not the best. He is the legend of all legends. His records and many top sports magazines speak for him, not me. Cheers!

    • @dreynip12
      @dreynip12 7 років тому +1

    • @Madferit91
      @Madferit91 7 років тому

      Anh Ho Just look at the head to head with Djokovic, Nadal and Murray. With Rafa is a beatdown. Fucking humilliating. Novak has recently surpassed him. And Roger only turn the head to head to his favour against Andy only after Murray's back injury in 2013. Before that he was down. All this 3 guys dominate him.

    • @andreaho4841
      @andreaho4841 7 років тому

      Alex Sander You got your points, and I study that they are remarkably reasonable.
      However, you may misunderstand my clear-writing words. I did mention the FedEx at his golden ages. FedEx is 35, and Nole is 29. They're both professional, and it makes things different. I hope you understand what I mean. Next, you talked about H2H among those top players. Nadal was great on clay courts, but I apologize for saying that he had no chance against FedEx on the other courts. You surefire know that there are several essential ones called as Clay, Hard, Grass and Carpet, I guess you may know... Murray has his audience, but I don't belong to those... Djokovic is now close to being invincible in his prime-time. Last but not least, we should consider how a professional has preserved his prime-time since he's still playing: fewer injuries, mastering all skills perfectly and awe-inspiring play-style. Cheers!

    At 4:47 watching the player level view of reaction time is beyond mortal. Typical birds eye broadcast view does not convey how fast the ball moves, nor what is happening. Wish they did it more often. Same thing with a major league baseball pitch. The top down view makes it look like plenty of time. But from the batter’s perspective, its unreal how talented these superheroes are.

Back then, as now, I do not think I have ever seen Federer to be so much at the top of his game or peak of his powers, whatever phrase you want to use. As others have said, it was not the case that Murray played poorly or even below his very high levels, indeed he played very very well and showed his usual gutsy persona, it was simply that on that day he met an opponent who was simply playing some of the most ruthlessly efficient and beautiful tennis that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing.

      I disagree Murray while not as consistent as the others is the closest to them by some margin. Federer has been very fortunate on grand slam finals alone counting only Nadal and Novak he would only have 3 slams in fact it has been seven years since Fed last beat either of them in a slam final. As for Murray he beat Novak twice in his prime in slam finals he deserves to be acknowledged for that.

      +Mr Ma same court same performance and same match (Final) and Nadal beats this Federer no problem in his prime. Its as simple as that, Nadal in his prime would beat Federer everywhere except maybe Wimbledon. All other courts in slams Nadal would beat Federer. The US Open 2010 Nadal would ruin every version of Federer, the serve alone never mind the baseline rallies would destroy Federer

      Specterling one thing is so obvious though just like with Rafa, both guys forehands are nowhere near as lethal as they used to be. You still see signs of the great shot but they don't have that brutal forehand they once possessed which opponents used to fear. For example on a big point Roger used to make sure he got his forehand in play and made sure point was over, these days his forehand needs 4/5 set up shots before he rips a winner whereas before he only needed a single shot with a forehand.
