Top 5 Times Roger Federer Destroyed His Opponents ● Making Grown Men Cry (Probably)

- Опубліковано 13 тра 2024
- Nick Kyrgios once said Roger Federer makes his opponents feel like they don't know how to play tennis. In this video I show you 5 times Roger completely dominated his opponents. Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray Mischa Zverev and Gaston Gaudio.
Kyrgios 0:00
Djokovic 0:14
Nadal 3:32
Zverev 7:21
Gaudio 10:40
Murray 13:17 - Спорт
In full flow there has never been anyone even close...Nick was right when he said you just feel helpless...the demolition was ruthless and those who think Federer was still in his prime past 2009...well look at the difference in the power and movement...the only reason he was still a competitor was because his prime was just miles above anyone else...
Rog was a beast
100% correct: when he hit his peak tennis (2004-2009, again for 3/4s of 2017, and in sporadic bursts in between) he achieved a level only he was capable of reaching. The utter domination during his 230 straight weeks at No 1 is some proof of that. He was faster, more powerful and more daring during the 2004-2009 period, but I think he actually played his best all-round tennis in 2017.
While i also think Fed has had the highest peak, his "god mode" lasts beating Novak and Rafa in best of 3 matches and leading 2-0 in sets or 1-1 with a break in the third , but then he suddenly drops, on the other hand Novak and Rafa can play at their peak for ~4 hours(Novak is famous for starting kinda slow in the first set).
Also comparing 2006 Fed to 2015 Fed for example, sure younger Fed is faster and has more consistent and lethal Forehand but his backhand is much worse(He used to slice ~60+ % of his backhand shots which ofc wouldnt work against Novak & Rafa especially on slower courts), had lower first serve percentage(he added the slice serve during Annacone years which upped his first serve percentage by 3-5%) and had less variety(started using dropshots more often 2009 and after)
@@RogerThatTennis I still miss Federer but time moves on.
The fact that he ddn't even celebrate makes it good, because maybe he's thinking in what the opponent is feeling at the momment,
Yeah that was nice of him
I mean he's been there himself lol. Against Rafa plenty of times.
@@MrPatrickbuit Nadal never had 6-0 vs Federer ...Nadal himself said " if someone ,anybody think that I am a better player than Federer , just does'nt know nothing about tennis"
Tennis God. Period.
Yessirr
Let them call Djoko GOAT. God is so much better.
Novak
In terms of talent he is the only one yeah.
The most talented and skilled ever. I wish he didn’t have so many injuries as he approached his prime.
There has never been and there will never be another who plays tennis with this level of brilliance and genius. I think the GOAT debate is meaningless, but for sheer joy in watching something that is this beautiful, this astonishing, Federer is in a class of his own. And I agree with HeisenbergR’s thoughtful comment below. The beauty includes his comportment during and after matches (with v rare exceptions). Went to Indian Wells and saw Federer many times. I stayed after every match, all of which included at a minimum quite a number of moments of this caliber of play, but I stayed to see him sign anything and everything that any child who came down to the courtside asked him to sign. Adults, too, but the emphasis by far was on kids. Very few others saw this, so if it was for PR (other than in a very literal sense of “relations”), it’s hard to see how. Just another special aspect of his greatness.
Thanks for sharing Samuel! The man was great for tennis indeed
Samuel I would also like to thank you for your memorable post. Roger has always impressed me and I think he is the greatest tennis player I have ever seen .Novak and Nadal are really not as impressive in my opinion.
learn to judge without bias. dimitrov plays tennis with this level of brilliance and genius. dimitrov has proved playing the game like federer is possible.
@@h4rder10 Yes I do have a good opinion of Dimitrov but unfortunately he is inconsistent.
What a demonstration of the art of tennis! Roger, I will miss you forever!

FEDERART
Miss this kind of tennis

Federer’s backhand is the most beautiful thing in the world.
Gotta love it
😂😂😂 12:17
Roger ❤
Gotta love him
greatest athlete of all time. you have other geniuses like messi and jordan but Rogers class is on a different planet. I am 32y and ive never seen anything like that, and I doubt I ever will.
Will probably not see something like that again :(
Gretzky was the same in ice hockey. Both GOATs.
@@felixlandry7119 In my country we don't watch hockey, so I wouldn't know. I only know the name from comments on the internet
Bro you will never see another Roger again. I am ao happy I watched him live in Wimbledon, had my gear signed by him, talked to him in French and witnessed the most beautiful painting painted on a court by the greatest Tennis Artist of all time!
@@TheDeghohun that’s nice! Thanks for sharing

One of
just the Best Tennis Player ever ❤️
Gotta love the man
Stefan I agree .
Got to respect Djokovic's ability to keep relentlessly winning matches and tournaments, but peak Federer just running the best players in the world all over the court and look like he was toying with them was a different level of domination.
@@mattc3581 I agree.
This match in Halle shows what is a real grass court, not like the joke nowadays called Wimbledon.
Just the best ever as far as I’m concerned. Glorious to watch.
We were happy 🥲
My favorite is 4:10 where his body looks like he is going for the diagonal shot but turns the racquet in the other direction when hitting the ball. What a perfect bluff!!!!
Brilliant!
Federer's inside-in forehand should be the 8th wonder of the world
For real man! Haha
Great video man!
Thanks bud!
Cool ahh blud 12:30
He plays it with so much ease yet it is the most powerful. The cleanest hitter of a Tennis ball.. ❤
One and only!
This man in his prime years was the best player to ever play the game ,and what made him the greatest was that he lost like a gentleman and one like a gentleman champion a class act beyond beyond Roger you are the greatest ever I don’t care what anyone says I dare to defy anyone to watch this video how wonderful and entertaining it was to watch you do what millions of people do but nobody did it better than you and nobody ever will ?………. The defense rests its case……..
Hahha thanks for the comment Phil
4k looking great!
Thanks Michael!
There's no 4K here
@@TvRFReloaded The 4k upload will give you better bitrate even if the source footage is just HD. There's a huge bitrate jump on UA-cam going from 1080p to 1440p. So it's worth it rendering in a higher resolution than the video would normally be if the goal is to upload on UA-cam.
@@Luckyluckyluc I usually don't render in anything higher than the source files bitrate unless it's sky high. But my point is more that you can't fake 4K in my opinion. Even if it looks a tad better, I guess?
6:0 6:0 in the quarterfinal is insane!
The second one against Gaudio was in the semis of the atp finals 🥲
@@RogerThatTennis I did not know that!!! That’s insane!!!
Weakest era ATP finals Gaudio , Coria Henman, Ljubicic Hewitt...
@@ja-kl8rgnot weaker than atp 2022 and 2023 😂😂
@@ja-kl8rg and what about 2018 with Isner, Anderson, Cilic, Nishikori and Zverev with no slams?
I've said it elsewhere. I'll say it here again.:
When RF is "in the zone" he could probably take on any two opponents TOGETHER, and win!
He was a once-in-a-lifetime player.
Haha that’d be nice
That's the sad part. 11:47
Beautiful players. When I see Medvedev or Sinner play, I realize I don't enjoy watching tennis that much anymore.
Big shots to the right, big shots to the left. Rinse and repeat.
No thanks.
:/
Well said bro
That federer vs zverev match😳😳
Easy!
1:46 that's a top spin dropshot!
That was lucky haha
This was 2011 peak djokovic man! Grandpa Federer destroyed him man!!
Haha
2010
u actually think somebody destroyed novak in 2011? ... thats hilarious ... yes roger beat him once in RG in a tight match in 4 sets but that's not destruction ...
This was 2010. Not even close. Keep coping.
Roger indoors in the O2 Arena. Just stay home boys.
Haha exactly
Roger giving out free donuts to his opponents is so humbling.😂
Hahaha
Gave out two to Hewitt in a straight sets grand slam final win, think it's the only time that's ever happened. That could easily have been in this list.
@@mattc3581 for sure man!
🐐🐐🐐
Tennis heaven, can't say better than elgar104, elegant and brutal is dead right. So fascinating to watch his construction of points up to the killer stroke, and also the increase in daring after he's got the measure of an opponent.
Gotta love the man
Superb stuff! Thank you for this. :)
A question: who's the commentator for the Gaudio match? I've always liked his transatlantic (?) accent and his commentary.
Thanks for the comment! I’m actually not sure, hopefully someone else will see and can tell us :)
That's John Barrett! Super commentator who did Wimbledon for the BBC in the 1980s and 1990s. A former Player married to Angela Mortimer
the best looking 20 slam winner ever, the cool way he looks when walking away from a winning shot
Gotta love the man’s class
The most glorious athlete I'll ever see. Beautiful elegant and brutal.
Gotta love the man!
So damn true
Wow 🤩
❤❤❤
Beast!
Federer really tennis God
Gotta love the man
Calling Kyrgios a grown man is a bit of a stretch 😂
😭😭
He's grown a lot as a person over the last few years
@@mugsym2370I do not think he has changed very much.
Haahaaa
Difficult and attacking tennis, made easy. That's the best thing, he always won matches by his own merit. The fluidity, the easiness, the options in his game, the quick footwork, dancing like a gazelle across the court. Pure instinctive talent, leaving people in awe of his tennis capability.
One and only
Fookin executed prime Djokovic like he was nothing , Prime Fed was absolutely unplayable .
Hahaha
didnt know djokovic hit his prime in 2010. ur creating alternate tennis history mate ...
I think Mischa Zverev retired from tennis after that double bagel 😂
😭😭
I particularly decided to play this video for the wristband in the thumbnail. Because I didn't recall when he wore that outfit. Miss watching my king play tennis 😢 but love him foreverer ❤
Haha thanks for watching, it’s a nice outfit, I don’t remember where he wore it though, I think it was US Open 2015
Extremely tennis, one of the best 👌
Yess :)
No one else could make anyone they faced feel powerless even if they were playing their best. Peak Federer is peak tennis.
Tennis God
Federer's precision and pace made him a monster of monsters in fast indoor courts, too bad his best surfaces (fast indoor and grass) were among the rarest on tour.
Yep :/ game got slow
He was so superior to the rest... And even that, maybe the score was 6-3 or 6-4, but you always felt that he was in full control of the game. It's like scores and numbers can't express his level.
Yessirr
Once he got up a break he could just coast because nobody could break his serve.
That's exactly it. There were even matches with sets where the scoreline was 7-5 or 7-6, but you could just feel he was in utter control, using the match as a training session to work on his game.
La classe, regle comme une montre suisse
Magnifique!
Adjustments at 5:20 are mind-blowing
So quick
As my old tennis teacher always said.... is the whipping motion that u need to hit a forehand.
Yessir!
The greatest player to ever set foot on a tennis court
Yessirr
Senhores!
Roger, um cidadão, um cavalheiro, um deus se divertindo na quadra na quadra de tênis!
Saudades do monstro!
You would think that thrashing he gave Murray that there head to head would be lopsided, but Murray actually gave him a run for his money on most matches and kept their rivalry close. Matter of fact Andy was up at one time in their rivalry. Kind of crazy how some match ups are different.
Right!! I never realized Andy was ahead in the h2h until I was working on this video.
@@RogerThatTennis no, roger leads the h2h actually 14 - 11
Really , I miss the magic of the One: RF
We all do :/
two words for rogers tennis ,,,,,swiss precision
Exactly Michael!
Federer is tennis🎾
Tennis is Federer
Yessirrr
I think He can Do it with Andy Murry & Win 6/0 6/0 But he Give him a respect on that Time -
When Federer be In The mood - Nobody can beat him Never !!!!
Watching on TV doesn't really make you feel how much pressure it's like playing against a fast-paced playing player like Roger. It's tough, indeed.
Exactly!
When Federer was on, it was just hopeless to anyone in the world
100%
2010 RF had 16, Nadal had 6 & Djoko had 1. that's where RF started giving his time to family and not caring about records anymore thinking no one will surpass him. 2011 to 2019 he was below avg as per his standard.
Except mid part of 2011 and 2013 and 2016 he was awesome throughout decade
By far the best tennis player and most elegant tennis player ever. However, Djokovic is the most successful player ever.
Have to agree!
4 of 5 times were at atp finals, so against one of the best 8 players of the world those years. But if it isn’t enough, 3 of these 4 times were against djokovic, nadal and murray… and if anybody needs to remind it, don’t worry, djokovic also received a 6-0 treatment from Roger in Cincinnati final 2012… do you need something else to learn anything about GREATNESS? Because I grew up learning from him live and I miss him and dreaming because of him too much
He’s the man
Federer backhand was lethal.
It was man!
The admin of the game
Hahaha exactly
LEGEND Federer!!!!!!!
Gotta love the man
I think you chose the wrong Halle Zverev match. Mischa was a journeyman player so him getting double bageled by Roger was not exactly a shocker. You should have chosen the 2017 finals thumping of Sascha. He was so rolled that in the press conference after the match he whined, "Roger as messin' with the ball." LOL!
That was good too but 0 and 0 is brutal 😂
Yesterday just bought Roger L🎾VE Peace For All t shirt
😊
Nice!
Roger won easily against everyone in World Tour Finals except for Michael Zverev (Halle) and without giving break points or getting broken except for Djokovic.
Crazy man!
he slowed down after hitting 30 or a bit earlier, you can see the movement difference post 2012, some back issue or just age. he would have done much against djokovic if they were both in prime form
It's as if half the time he's not even playing tennis. Some other game, like a hybrid of badminton and tennis. Or "just" some way of playing tennis that no-one else has worked out.
Makes it look easy!
Roger was the G.O.A.T.!!
Miss the man
Murray thanked Fed for the giving him one game in front of his home crowd.
Haha
No man match his class ever
Damn I miss Roger
I miss my friend
That game in second set vs Murray looks like he deliberately gave it to him
Haha maybe!
In Gaudio's defense, he was sleep deprived because his girlfriend fought with him the night before the match.
Damn, how do you know that?
@@RogerThatTennis He talked about it in an interview.
He's a very funny and histrionic guy, and completely a mental case. Such a wasted talent.
FED tennis GOD

Roger lässt Djokovic wie einen blutigen Anfänger aussehen, einfach Krass!
At his peak - Federer was an unstoppable bulldozer crushing all opponents in his path and making their life on court miserable.
Yessirr
If in tennis only the usage of one arm was permitted, what is fair, Roger would have more than 30 grandslams
Haahaha
My personal favourite was the one against Kyrgios.
that was the best match in 2017.
@@bernieatkins5182 It was for sure one of the better ones.
I wish he’d make a comeback. A racquet made from crutches and a walking stick are enough
At his best, he was simply unbeatable. Except against Nadal on clay.

2nd Goat
3rd match double bagel : Federer impressive vs Zverev depressive 😆
Crazy!
You forgot the 2014 Shanghai Masters against Leonardo Mayer where Roger came back from 5 match points down to beat Mayer and made him cry at the handshake.
I was trying to get the ones he dominated his opponents, he almost lost that one against Mayer
When federer plays great, he makes even the statistical GOAT l, novak, look stupid man.!
2012 cincinatti between Novak was also a beatdown.
Oh yes!
So much for Djokovic fans "weak era"
I wouldn’t say I’m a conspiracy theorist but it seems pretty easy to imagine the NCAA has/had a significant interest in having the Caitlyn Clark story continue. I was pulling for Iowa but that was a terrible call to make; especially at that point in the game.
Well. Like many talented players in his prime . But not for too, long
because Nad. & Dj will come better.
He's the goat
Beast
😎
Nem lehet megunni :)
Never!
Almost had peak Murray 6-0 6-0, Rogers A game is second to none except for clay court, what he lacked was his consistency. He could bagel the best of players and on other days he will lose to a wildcard. This is where joker and nadal excelled.
Yessir
Believe me, it pretty much felt like Federer let Murray win 1 game on purpose. He just wanted to give him at least a game I guess. Like Novak gave Mannarino a game in AO 2024
Seemed like haha
fedsquash is 10 losses and 4 wins in GS FINALS!! More failure
I think Cincinnati 2012 was worst for Djokovic
That was a bad one too
I have t he feeling (no inside info) that Federer like to put on a good show for the crowd and, if an opponent cooperates, he can join in the project and the Fed will take it easy. HOWEVER, once he takes it a bit easy, the opponents think, "Oh, I think I see a weakness and I'can overpower him! Oops. Maybe not.
much better than alcaraz because brute strength helps him the most no matter how much variety he has. dimitrov is the only other player who can play tennis like federer.
2010 Federer was how prime Federer would hit shots. Only difference is Novak wouldn’t gotten his racket on the ball. Also Novak has never destroyed federer. Where Federer has many times to Novak
fed was god level in 05
100%
Which one of them cried?
All of them, I was their coach at the time. (Probably)
To say that Murray made it the big 4 is nonsense
50 50 game
Think his record is way better than 50/50
