Federer may not hold the record for the number of slams won etc but he is still the GOAT for one simple reason. He played the game on a different level to everyone else. Enjoy your retirement Sir.
Agreed!! There will never be another Federer!!! Skill with grace, elegance, and savagery when needed. No other tennis player is as enjoyable to watch...waving his magic Wilson wand as they say!!!!!
Why to bring the number of titles in conversation? For you he is the GOAT, that's it.. Nobody in the world will argue that anybody ever played more visually pleasing game on court but we have to respect the Djokovic's mental strength and Nadal's physical abilities as well. For me no one is GOAT, they all have their flair and they excelled at that. Got one up on each other, had some crucial moments, sometimes one handled the pressure better at critical stages than the other. Injuries at wrong time, mental baggage on a particular day can change the debate. Sitting outside and getting into debate is an easy task.
Same about watching, but beein tennis fan since 1980. I remember that crazy tie break in the wimbledon final between Borg and McEnroe, cheering for Borg in front our still black and white TV
Yeah, could watch him all day. He won't be remembered as the guy who won the most but he will be remembered as they guy that took our breath away the most...
I have been a tennis fan for most of my 62 years. I have seen and greatly admired some legendary players; Laver, Borg, Connors, McEnroe, Becker, Sampras, Nadal & Djokovic. However, IMHO there has never been any human being who picked up a racquet as majestic, graceful, charismatic and as great as Roger Federer. He is, to me, the greatest sportsman who has ever lived. I feel honoured to have lived in the time of Federer.
I think you are a great connoisseur and have no hesitation in agreeing with you. Roger was capable of playing the most sublime tennis and I think Rod Laver greatly admired him judging by his regular attendance at Wimbledon.
@@annewalden3795 Connors at his peak would have floored Roger. Roger wouldn't have been any good with a steel T2000 racquet either. And Connors still holds the record for most professional titles. I never get bored watching Federer highlights from mid 2000's. What a beast he was. People usually describe him as a shotmaker and natural talent and so on. He was also a magical athlete, strong and fast. I have to put Djoko as the best ever considering everything, but I firmly believe that prime Federer was the best version of a tennis player we have ever seen. His A-game back in the days was out of this world.

The most beautiful tennis player to ever play the game. Genius, artist and the best in every aspects. He is Roger Federer. He always comes out with magic and miracles. He is the greatest.
the most beautiful to watch and the greatest creator of magical points. As others said he may not have the most slams but his inventiveness and attacking play puts him ahead of the 'other two' in my eyes who built their careers mainly on defence.
I love Nadal and the Joker. But i can burn a thousand calories watching them play, they are so athletic and play so hard every shot. But watching Federer play is literally like watching water run downhill in a smooth flowing calm stream. Enchanting poetry in motion.
because tennis was elegant, not so popular, not many hard core opponents, then novak came along with nadal and made it brutal. drama, long hours into the night, it was elegant with federer because it was number one player with number 20. now every match is like finale. everyone wants the blood of novak, and every single player fights like hell. no easy matches. novak has high iq for tennis, but theres no room for relaxed elegant chess play now. and its so hard to watch tennis.. its painful.
The last one against Daveydanko is my all-time favorite. That's called Roger's Liquid Whip. Breathtaking! Next would be at the net against Nadal at the French Open. Electrifying! Thanks for posting. These were great!
In recent times, professional tennis may have produced more efficacious machines, but none more soulful than Federer. Many will be remembered by their numbers, few by their genius. What his poetry makes you feel in awe is unmatched.
Probably one of the greatest sports people of all time. I am not really into tennis but I remember getting excited about watching Federer and being in awe of him. These highlights are magic.
Roger Federer's extraordinary talent and highlight his ability to produce breathtaking shots that defy belief. Each moment captured on film would serve as a testament to Federer's unparalleled skill, creativity, and artistry on the tennis court, solidifying his status as one of the all-time greats in the sport's history.
I'd forgotten how much I used to enjoy watching tennis until I saw the documentary on Federer's retirement. Came here to watch highlight clips. Federer is a rare one - highly skilled AND an amazing compassionate human.
There are many greats in sports, but certain athletes are a notch above the rest, athletes that define a generation and will continue to inspire long after their careers end. Federer in tennis, Tiger in golf, Messi in football. etc.
Gosh, but I miss him. Carlos Alcaraz is the most exciting player to watch currently even though Jannik Sinner is currently #1. But there'll never, ever be another Roger. There wasn't before him, and there won't be one after him. It was everything--his mind, his imagination, his belief in himself on the court and what he and his racket could do, his class on and off the court, his respect for the game. I love that he raised the bar and every other male player had to get good enough to beat Roger Federer. He's like the Williams sisters for women's tennis in that regard. He was one class act, and tennis is all-the-better for it.
I am resigned to the fact that I will not experience anything more sublime during my lifetime as a sports fan than watching this man make a mockery of the laws of physics on a tennis court.
He won a lot of his matches by being in utter control, outplaying his opponents and having time left for some magical improvisations. Djokovic and Nadal have the grit and tenacity, but Federer left spectators with jaws wide open.
The best player ever not because of no. Of grand slams but because he always enjoyed his game and never ever looked stressed or upset or putting extra efforts ( but he did ) grimace free look -- what a gentleman 👏 👏 ( there are few others in his group like Sampras and Edberg and Lendl)
Watching the play on the clay courts is really difficult in this video - I can barely see where the ball is... But Roger Federer is such a thrill to watch. Such control and athleticism.
What an incredible class act Roger was. When he finally retired I gave up watching tennis because it just was not the same game without him. When he played the class shown through so much that whoever he played was NEVER favored over Roger.
this actually shows how dedicated he was in his shot making. 99.5% of all other tennis players would not attempt a shot that goes around the net instead of over it
Federer,s play , was from pure instinct and improvisation , no time for thought process , just improvise to what ever was required to return that ball into play, like a fine sculpture he could shape twist or turn to what ever was needed, like he was born with a racket in his hand , I believe we will never see another like in all our life times , pure genius , and along side Jack Nickkaus , in my opinion the two greatest sportsman that ever lived

Two things (1) it’s easy to forget that the most graceful of players also ran MILES to chase the ball down. Doesn’t matter how great your touch, you still have to WORK (2) it takes two great players to make a great point. Roger only has to play these amazing shots because he is playing against great opponents. The standard of tennis at the top is incredibly high.
