Man, you have one hell of a mechanical mind. Really good at what you do on here. I can still remember that video where you got so upset about someone telling you that you didn't fix something right or it was something like that. You had a fit over it lol. Made a whole youtube video of the bike just running. I think you've made your point over the years my friend. You definitely know what you're doing. Stay safe, stay well, God Bless.
Your videos are always very helpful and thorough. You did a lot of work on this machine and it runs very well. Your videos probably help you out with your sales. People can see just exactly what has been done. Thanks again for your time and videos and enjoy your weekend.
We used to refer to those flex hones as dingleberry hones. Used 'em for the same thing you just did. We have a much better and more expensive, of course, hone for using after boring the cylinders. We use them to bring the cylinder to the exact size desired. Anyway, I saw you wiping the cylinder with the shop towel after honing. The cylinder should always be washed with soapy water after honing. Oil should be applied after washing. There are microscopic abrasive particles that no amount of wiping will remove and those particles will wear the rings quickly.
Ive always used rubbing alcohol or lacquer thinner on microfiber towels to wipe down cylinders or mating surfaces after being honed, bored, or machined and i dont stop wiping until the clean spot on the microfiber no longer changes color. I use tht instead of soapy water because it will really get off EVERYTHING, itll evaporate off on its own, and i dont have to worry sbout any flash rusting possibilites or water contamination in any bearings. I also use a spray bottle with a light weight oil in it and mist it over everything and give the cylinders a good wiping with an oily microfiber. works absolutely beautifully.
You oughtta see what happens when folks use scotch brite on engines! Guaranteed to take out cranks and cams. Folks don't get the abrasive residue 100% removed and the oil filter will bypass.
Good job! Watching your journey through this one lets me know what I will have to go through on mine when it gets to that point. Mine was "warped" somehow, and I thought it was a bent frame. Turned out to be bent swingarm, but I tredged through a whole lengthy education (for myself) to figure out how to set it up to measure where and how it was warped. It was a fun education, though, and even more fun to make a set of videos on what I went through from beginning to end. Thanks for this series of videos!
Should apply a good spray degreaser to frame, engine etc b4 goin to pressure washer in town. Will work well loosening grime on any machine on the way there! Tons brands on Ebay or @local parts store.
Good work man! You brought her back to life! Really amazing work! Back 2002 i was in doubt between the Yamaha warrior 350 and the Suzuki LTZ400 , I'm glad I've went with the Suzuki (huge room for improvement+ it really grew up with me) but seeing your warrior 350 now makes me want one! They are really good quads when you compare them to their competitors back in the day (warrior 350, Suzuki z400, Honda 400ex - but the banshee 350 was the king back then 😀) because of the reverse, 6 speeds, air-cooled!
Good pts i agree 👍. You made a good choice w/ Suzuki LTZ400 quad..some ppl don't realize Suzuki invented the modern quads in late 80s plus had 1st performance quads (Quadracer). Try get a real clean used Yamaha Raptor 350 (has updated Warrior engine) or if you have the financial means a new Raptor 700R. *Prob the best all around sport quad ever made!* We are lucky Yamaha still makes em. Hard to find @dealers as well.
Noticed the intake valve's rocker wasn't making complete contact with the valve stem. It's almost half way off the stem, off to the left. Never seen that on an un damaged valve train before. Not on a Japanese manufactured engine.
Nice job joe actually came out better than I thought it would cleaned up really well sounds really good too not a bad quad by any means great work mate take care and have a good Easter ps awesome channel buddy 🔧🔧🔧👍👌
If you ever have a set of "disposable" plastics for a quad or dirtbike, you might want to try "lightly" heating them up with a torch a bit. I watched it done and it works AMAZING on plastics that you would assume were beyond bringing back. Obviously just go carefully and don't completely melt them, but try it on something that doesn't matter first and see how it goes ! I think you will be amazed.
I really enjoy watching your content, I’m happy to see a young man getting his hands dirty and (assumably) enjoying what you are doing. Where did you learn your trade of small engines?
I wish you would've showed the valve seal installation itself I would really like to see how you do it exactly because I just rebuilt a 1998 yamaha grizzly 600 and the valve seals didn't fit on the guides overly tight... now it's smoking on start up and I have to redo them
97 Warrior yellow was my first brand new Quad, very reliable. Ran mine for 15 years and sold it for 700 bucks in mint condition. By the way when you're shifting from reverse to forwards if you rock it and put it in first gear it'll engage easier👍
you can pull cam out without losing the valves and there is another metal piece that goes over the piece that holds the cam in that locks the bolts from coming out
Awesome videos bro. I love seeing other ppl that like taking stuff apart an fixing it them self. I have a very small shop were I build an fix stunt bikes. I love what I do an I can tell in your videos so do you keep up the killer work brother!
My first quad was a early 90’s warrior. I’d went from dirt bikes to a quad. I had the red and black color scheme. Loved reverse in the woods. I ended up snagging an 01 warrior later in life, ended up riding it an trading it for a predator.
Got a blue and an old white one for parts. The motor in it is cherry but it's just sitting out back of shop in case u need parts. Holler if you need something.nice quad dude!
I’ve learned alot from watching your videos and am getting a lot better myself on working on small engines. I plan on starting a channel recording my journey as well! Just started recording today
Could tell you really enjoyed that extra gear, hell yeah!!!was just wondering on that crooked valve rocker arm, other than having a new head and rocker components could a shim be used to get it better alingned to sit straight on valve stem or is it not that important, just as long as it pushes spring straight??snooky pa.💥👍💥
When putting in a fully built engine, I like to get it close and then stand on the foot pegs and wiggle it into place. It looks funny but works wonderfully
Beautiful rebuild my man! Those Warrior are hard to die. I LOVE mine and will never part with it. Should of opted for a Banshee rear shock though and a YZ250 shifter to eliminate the slop.
lot of work been done on that quad recently before you got your hands on it, hope it pays you back . as it looks like it still wants more with the steering , but where do you stop with these things
He probably just bought a cheap Chinese made replacement off Ebay. It's too beat to invest heavily into. Still a cool quad. Always felt Yamaha builds the best ATVs! I own 2. 😁
hey joe , how you and jade are good ...... i have a question for you :) at 16.46 ..... i noticed your valve tapper is contacting slightly to one side of the valve , I'm asking as i recently rebuilt a yamaha tw (very similar to this warrior engine)......... how would you go about correcting the alignment , maybe removal rocker arms , check for wear ?? The bike seems to be running soundly , however it bothers me enough to want to take my engine back apart , i rebuilt it already as a mock up to make sure things were seating properly etc but yano ...... i havent ridden for a couple of months and well...... I may have XD keep the vids coming dude
Just sayn,,,when u get the bike u powerwash ,then when u have the engine apart you Parts wash all that liked the head that was filthy,,, while the engine's getting fixed you touch up the paint that's when you would put the new shark on text brakes clean all that stuff up almost perfect, so when you put everything back together all you're doing is wiping it down with a waxy rag you seem to be doing things backwards It's almost like a mini restoration and you would get a lot more money for all your bikes.. It just seems that it would be easier when everything's apart and you can reach and get to everything It seems like you get everything running so it wouldn't really be a waste of time cuz you always get the bike going
I miss my old warrior 350, I had that sucker built up with every part I could find for it including a edelbrock carb with dyno-jet jet kit DG stage 3 pipe and stage 2 hotcam had a quarter turn twist throttle on it so she was a sweet little ripper I beat the piss out of that thing for years and it never gave me any issues I ended up selling it for more than I paid for it like 6 yrs later but she was a good little machine!
Seems a good & steady supply of used quads & dirt bikes in Upper Midwest region. Keep up the buyin/sellin/restoring! You will make good $ and have a very nice collection to show for it. 👍-Ohio #Maxima #TwinAir #YamahaQuads
Very nice rebuild job!..💯% Brought back some old memories 🤔💭 of me, my '74 Yamaha RD350, and the good times we had!..🥰 She was all black, "bored" to the max, ran gold anodized high compression heads, and two-into-one expansion chambers, all with a "café" styling!..😉👌🏾 #MyStreetRacer!..🏍💨💨💨 #AnAbsoluteStreetDemon!..😈
I was a big fan of AL Unser Jr racing cart cars, (Indy Cars). I went down to Portland to watch a race. He was promoting Valvoline Oil. So when I got home I changed to Valvoline. Yes I could certainly hear my valves after the oil change. Every valve. So I went back to Castrol Synthetic. Ever since.
Is the seat for that bearing/gear, on the case, ground down? Or is that how it should look? Will that become an issue for the new parts if they're not seated properly? Time stamp: 1:37
Love the channel, like the car wizard, you need an Amazon affiliation link for tools used so you get a cut. What about merch - tees, mugs, caps, and gloves? Think somebody needs a parts washer.
watch like every video nice work man, I think its about time you up your video skills and make the videos a little more interesting. keep up the good work though man

Dude, your just going to ignore the fact that the exhaust rocker arm is bent and sitting half off the valve stem. It's going to wear down through half of the valve tip. Try cleaning all of the parts properly before you re-assemble the whole thing, when you've got empty case halves clean thoroughly before you slap the thing back together with 75lbs of crud caked on the outside.
You should get yourself a parts washer. Clean everything before re assembly. I got mine at harbor freight cheap, but works good enough for what we do.
Man, you have one hell of a mechanical mind. Really good at what you do on here. The old school term for those hones is bottle brushes.
You oughtta see what happens when folks use scotch brite on engines! Guaranteed to take out cranks and cams. Folks don't get the abrasive residue 100% removed and the oil filter will bypass.
Probably my favorite video series I’ve seen from you man. Nice work splitting the case and getting her back in the dirt!
I never get tired of watching this channel! This guy is an awesome mechanic!

Back when doing my first rebuild I used a hose clamp for a ring compressor. Worked like a charm.

Love this channel and your videos. You’ve sparked a renewed interest in fourwheelers for me
BRAVO, you figured it out and took us on a ride - living the good life
Way back on another build, I said u should use permatex ultra black 2:02 it's super great sealer and oil resitant and very strong.
Good job man, great seeing videos of a normal guy doing something he enjoys.
Noticed the intake valve's rocker wasn't making complete contact with the valve stem. It's almost half way off the stem, off to the left. Never seen that on an un damaged valve train before. Not on a Japanese manufactured engine.
Yeah, I was hopping he’d address that in the video. He talked about it in the first video of this machine, but not this one.
I was hoping he would have talked about that too. Doesn't seem right to be off that much
It was off. Very surprising on a Yamaha motor especially! Cannot be orig like that from factory.
Nice to watch another video, we all can learn something from u....
Nice job joe actually came out better than I thought it would cleaned up really well sounds really good too not a bad quad by any means great work mate take care and have a good Easter ps awesome channel buddy 🔧🔧🔧👍👌
My Yamaha warrior was stolen from me, It was mi favorite atv ever.. now i own a yamaha blaster and runs pretty. Nice Video.
great video, great channel, and super descriptions
I've learned so much from your channel , just wanna say thanks as my confidence is going up and this summer I am starting my own projects 😁
Yz250 direct shifter would cure the slop in the factory linkage shifter. Mounts directly on the shaft.

I'm done the same with great results
Awesome job brother, you might have to work on that throttle position next, it looked very uncomfortable lol. Be safe :)
Awesome job as usual. Have a great Easter weekend.
You should get a Yamaha raptor 350 and do a race with the Warrior 350 and see what is faster
same engine
Yea but differnt gearing and frame ?
@@MrDEANOSCOOLVIDS not sure on the gearing but I believe that raptor has to be lighter lol
@@MrDEANOSCOOLVIDS 6 speed no reverse i think
I know the ideal is to see what is faster
i really like this show he is awsome i watch him every day keep up the show
Thanks for watching!

Great Video. I had a 1987 Warrior that I had bought new. Loved that Quad. Tough to find a good one now. Thanks for putting this on UA-cam. James
97 Warrior yellow was my first brand new Quad, very reliable. Ran mine for 15 years and sold it for 700 bucks in mint condition. By the way when you're shifting from reverse to forwards if you rock it and put it in first gear it'll engage easier👍
That one quiet compared ours, the power core 4 on it is excessively loud, but very nice. Love the 6 speed on those to.
I've got an entire complete motor for a Warrior in my shop if you need it. Can part it to, I guess.
i was told by a shop that my grizzly couldnt be fixed and i fixed it myself
She’s a beauty now! Awesome job
👍👍
you can pull cam out without losing the valves and there is another metal piece that goes over the piece that holds the cam in that locks the bolts from coming out

Before you pressure wash it you should get a few bottles of engine degreaser and spray down what needs sprayed and let it sit on the way to the wash
Great job on that motor. Too bad it's got scattered parts. Great vid, 👍
bloody hell you get parts quick in the USA
