Seller also said he never did anything with it. I suspect the guy the seller got it from said it just needed a carb clean then the seller tried hooking a battery to it n wires started smoking so he stopped n never did anything else with it
I resurrected an 02 Kawasaki Prairie butchered when I got it and not running. Knowing nothing about them but watching your videos allowed me to get it running strong and having fun with my first ATV.Thanks so much, will be watching future videos. 😊
So, you don't give your viewers the opportunity to inspect the carburetor after it's been freshened up. But, you do grant us the pleasure of feasting our eyes on the grandeur which is, witnessing lubricant escaping into the engine.😂 Was anyone else interested in observing the transformation of the carb, or is it just me? I do envy your electrical prowess however.👍🏼
When I was growing up my stepdad had 2 warriors along the path of life. To me they were the best of both worlds. They had good power and could get out of their own way. it was good for hunting or just having fun. In fact we always took the warrior hunting along with the Moto4 or my yellow tri moto 225 like you had on here a few weeks ago....Yamaha made some great machines and we always were buying used stuff and it seemed they never let us down. The hondas were good too but expensive when they did break
As the owner of a 2000 Warrior I understand the problems these machines have. I ended up buying mine in 2019 for $1,000. Unknowingly, the last owner ended up dropping the valve lock nut in the head, which he replaced with a new one, and it locked up the camshaft on us. Ended up with a crappy Niche head. Then I went into the bottom end and found the piston and rings were worn so a new standard Wiseco piston was installed. Ended up messing up the case treads so new cases were ordered also. Since then, awesome machine! I’m in it for too much unfortunately.
I understand but at least you have a machine that you know what’s in it. Still cheaper than buying a new sport quad although I’d love to have one. But I don’t want to spend 12k for one
Rotella T4 is wet clutch rated (jaso ma/ma2). It's much cheaper to use vs oil that is marketed as "Motorcycle" oil. I use it in every ATV and motorcycle I own.
I bought an 87 warrior on 2000 for 2500 it was a beast for the time ! A real wheely machine and great in the Kentucky trails … I’d say the spare parts and motor are the parts that came off your atv.. not the other way around
Considering you messed with two of these earlier in your early days and both where worn out. I’m glad you got to fix and ride one that still has life left!
Our family started out with an 89 warrior and loved it so much that we got two more. We still have the 89 with original engine and still sounds great. I'm actively rebuilding my 02 warrior completely and can't wait for the results. Thanks for sharing your experience. Take care
The starter problem happened to me one time on my old warrior and somehow i had reversed the polarity of it and it spun backwards, messed with wiring and got it fixed but glad to see you found your problem.
You have the coolest channel! It’s inspired me to buy dirt bikes with issues and fix them. So fart I’ve been 100% on diagnosing them. I just run through the same procedures you talk about. Pretty cool. Thanks for all the good content.
The seller 100percent knows alot more than he's saying because as he said he knows nothing about it but he also said that all it needs is a carb clean i can feel his nose growing all the way over here in the UK anyway apart from all that whatever the problem I'm absolutely sure that you will sort it out 👍🏼
Great job on that starter. Most of the people who work on these things would have just thrown it away and bought a new one. (or in your case took the one off the parts machine)
ABSOLUTELY the BEST on UA-cam at diagnosing mechanical issues hands down!! Ive turned wrenches 30+ yrs on all my own stuff and have seen some great mechanics but dont know of to many guys that couldve figured out that starter issue in the amount of time it took you to do it, pretty damn impressive Joe!! Your knowledge on how things work when it comes to parts outside the engine alone really just keeps surprising me. Love your videos and love how you show the little details on these fixes for all us viewers to keep learning from so thanks for what you do my man!!!
He never shows any reassembly. Do you really believe that he has collected all that junk since the last video. Joe is just amazing, that is if you are totally gullible!!!!!
I had one of these growing up. I think it was 2001. Was a lot of fun. I bet the pipe helped a lot to get some better speed out of it. I remembered when I replaced mine there was a spot in the stock exhaust it pinches off pretty bad to get around a bar. Was really great after that.
Okay I see I'm not the only one ... I bought 2 quads. He said needed new coil...... I literally just post a video of the problems. Ur videos are helping me learn
I’ve really been enjoying your videos! I found your channel a few days ago and have been binge-watching ever since. They’re not just educational but also really relaxing.
1500-$1800 all day long, she needs a little TLC but that was an easy double all day long!! Nice job Joe! I was 💯 percent sure something would come out the exhaust after seeing what was in the Air box! Good call on the starter running backwards, soon as you said that , I was Ding!! "💡".
I picked up one with “needs radiator, carb cleaned, some electrical work, a choke cable, and a throttle cable.” Now I’m $1,000+ in repairs. Including tires, a whole new carb because there was a wasp nest inside it clogging the pathways and welding the throttle butterfly shut, a fuel petcock, starter, starter relay, battery, brakes, head gasket, etc. and now a new camshaft.
If you'd pour oil from the quart the right way it wouldn't glug and sputter. The pour spout goes on the top not the bottom. It's designed that way so it can breathe and not glug.
Hey man, I’m new to your channel. I would like to say; Im a mechanic, but on larger engines. For sure when I’m a diesel mechanic. You have inspired a lot as I have been buying and trying to flip….. I really appreciate your videos…..
It’s good fun to hear the nonsense said to a mechanic to sell him a non running motorized vehicle! People this fellow has heard it ALL! Just stick with “It’s not working right now and I am not sure what the issue is but that’s why it’s for sale” this is a much more honest and reasonable explanation! Enjoy!
I bought a 2003 warrior pretty my the same condition for $800. Had to do the valve seals and rethread the crank nut. The same place yours is welded. My first time working on an atv and she runs great. I should have done videos on it. I have extra parts too.
I have a 05 350 raptor, they are indestructible, not a power house but reliable as hell. It is on its 3rd set of tire, 4th rear axel bearings, and untold rear brake pads, but never been in the motor. My kids rode it every weekend for years. All you really have to do to them is change to oil ounce a year, parts are easy to get, the were the same for 10 plus years.
This is one of those, u can tell right away a kid tried to fix, not knowing anything. You were lucky it wasn't anything major and turns into a good score with easily being able to flip with a good profit margin. Nice score.
Carburettor back on all installed, just like magic. Thats not showing the viewer anything. Next magic oil change. Then straight to will it fire. Hey pesto he has it all sorted. wow!!!!
That thing looks exactly like MY 02 Warrior! Except yours is WAY louder. One thing, the throttle response sounds a little less "crisp" than mine. Might be the spring in the accelerator pump bore may be weak, and not pushing it back up enough to get full stroke out of it. Your Accel Pump still has the rubber bellows on it.... hold onto that, they are unobtanium any more, but there is an alternative I found. Since it looked like I was watching you work on mine, I was way into this video. I'd love to see an addendum on your carb cleaning experience. That float will come out, but it takes a bit of uncomfortable force. I did a whole series of vids on my Warrior, to figure out where and how it was bent, fixing it, and rear brake repairs. It's LONG, but I had no editing skills back when I did it.
hell of a channel dude. i do wish you'd show some of the stuff you cut out sometime though. like cleaning the carb on this one woulda been really satisfying to watch.
Another Amazing fix Joe, you always impress me with your finds and easy fixes, plus your knowledge of how things work, really enjoy watching you work and your commentary.
I used have one of those. So much fun. But boy does it look like someone had too much fun with that one. But that starter problems have plagued many of them. I was waiting to see if it was the same issue I’ve repaired on 3 before but to my surprise nope. Just a broken magnet 🧲 and reversed field. For the ones I’ve seen it’s always been a wiring issue.
33:36 tip. dont pour oil with the spout down, flip the bottle so the spout is up and it can vent air. It wont "Chug" like that anymore. less of a change to spill because the oil "Chugs"
Thanks ! Definitely learning all the time ! That reverted cylinder in the starter, wouldn't have thought about this. ! Great video again ! Thanks a lot !
idk if anyone has said this but if you use tape of some kind preferably duct tape around the shaft of the starter you can tell easier if it rotates counter or clockwise
Hey bro! Purely for eye strain, when you do your ride, please angle rhe helmet camera up 10 to 15 degrees. It's hard to ride looking over the front tire! Nice job getting it running in 4 hours, Winner! Love watching you work man. Keep it coming!!
Great snag! I have a '99 I got in similar shape. Why do people start chopping at the wiring harnesses? I see it all the time. Grab extra solenoids and intake boots. They seem to go quickly. Great video!
I am a warrior guy I have 2 so any video I come across with one I watch and this one seems to be running pretty good after you’ve gone thru it warriors are notorious for electrical issues but can be beaten to all hell and will still come back for more nice find
We have a procedure for bikes that have been sitting for a while and customers want us to get running. First thing is check air box to make sure there is no rat or mice nest that can be sucked through a valve and possibly bend it
I love watching teardown videos like these because they're great for learning mechanics. I'd have never of thought to check the starter magnets. How do you go about retorquing bolts though? Do you do it by feel, use a torque wrench or just give it a few ugga duggas? If you do use a torque wrench where do you find the specs?

I had a 350 wolverine 2000 model that ran great and then it didn’t and I took it to three different shops, and none of them could ever fix it. It ran, but would never wind out.
Anytime someone says carb clean, I assume they tried everything and it doesn't run 😅
Ran when parked..........
Ask them if it will fire off when you spray ether in it or put a gas soaked rag over the intake. Watch em stamur and smoke come outa their ears.
Yeah, something simple, right.
Well, he wasn't lying. The carb did need cleaned....
The amount of bikes I have bought that just needed a carby clean and have taken days to fix
Funny that the seller said he knows nothing about it...but then said all it needs is a carb clean.
it ran until i put it away 🤣
but he was right
@@elkku2934But the starter turned the wrong way. Starter + carburetor
Seller also said he never did anything with it. I suspect the guy the seller got it from said it just needed a carb clean then the seller tried hooking a battery to it n wires started smoking so he stopped n never did anything else with it
yeah that would make me lowball the hell out of it too
Lol at 35:15 - The mouse nest getting blown out of the exhaust. 😂
I bought a 400ex one time and when i tried to crank it a snake came flying out of the exhaust.
There went the silencer 😆
ik just saw that 😂😂😂😂😂
Great job diagnosing the starter!
Its amazing how you can identify different problems so logically, great job. I learned a lot from you, thanks.

Well done mate. This is one where I said to myself "no way that thing is gonna run". You proved me wrong.
Hammering your starter is a great way to break the magnets😮
I can confirm.
@@TheRealCannonCooper😂😂😂😂😂
I am quite impressed you determined the starter was rotating in the wrong direction.
Rotella T4 is wet clutch rated (jaso ma/ma2). It's much cheaper to use vs oil that is marketed as "Motorcycle" oil. I use it in every ATV and motorcycle I own.
I had that same DG pipe on my old warrior and friends hated riding behind me , always told em try and get around me then lol

Warriors are some of the most rock solid Atv’s ever made. That 350 motor is absolutely bulletproof. What you found was a severely neglected machine.
Sadlyb

The variety of things you tackle are amazing. Subs way up, keep it up
That’s a sharp looking machine. Maybe I’m old but that’s a killer look
It reminds me of the banshee
Nice catch on the starter! I'd bet that 99% of shops would have sold the customer a new starter. When it's a simple fix
You have the coolest channel! It’s inspired me to buy dirt bikes with issues and fix them. So fart I’ve been 100% on diagnosing them. I just run through the same procedures you talk about. Pretty cool. Thanks for all the good content.

What a catch on that starter rotation. I’m not sure many would have caught it that fast.
prob wouldve been a wiser idea to just buy a new starter they aint expensive
Yeah 100% I don’t think I would’ve caught that
He wired up one on another bike the wrong way and it was doing the same as this one so it probably was a bit of dejavu
Great job on that starter. Most of the people who work on these things would have just thrown it away and bought a new one. (or in your case took the one off the parts machine)

Though it has a 12v system in actuality a healthy voltage reading should always be at 13.5v. this is rule of thumb for any 12v system.

Mustie 1 is the best, he shows everything from start to finish, no tricks, no edits, just plain good mechanics, no tricks all honest.
Mustie is anoying every second. Ha ha ha and he doesn't seem to know as much as this guy I fix everything so I know good luck with your conclusion 😢
The Warrior is the mid for power speed everything 😅but it is the definition of reliability... they run beat to hell no matter what and easy to work on
Loved my 98'. Estart, reverse, clutch and faaaaaast. Wish I still had it!

When you are testing starters hook the positive up first then. Use the ground to turn it over so you don't mess up the threads on the positive bolt.

Btw, the engine case above the sprocket has JB Weld on it 😮
I commented on this one a while back. I just got a 94 for $775 that runs and drives. It’s awesome!
Good job on that starter issue. Never would have thought of that
I love your videos but please fix the chuck on your impact driver! 😊
Thanks ! Definitely learning all the time ! That reverted cylinder in the starter, wouldn't have thought about this. ! Great video again ! Thanks a lot !
Need to stop putting oil in the cylinder before a compression check. It's giving false readings.
That's how you can identify if it's bad rings catching the ball the compression

100 percent agree with you

Joe, that one way bearing... Is called a Sprag. They are common in automatic transmissions.
Do you ever sell any of your projects? If so where do you list them?
I’m half expecting Vinnie to come running behind you!! Good vid bud
Those Warriors are awesome machines. I sold mine a few months back cause I couldn't stand the riding position.

show us how you fix that welded sprocket since there arnt any youtubes on it

Dude! Nice video! I learned something with your starter motor rebuild. Thanks. Wish we were neighbors!
Thanks for the great video, I learned something about starters and how to reverse the direction. Thanks for sharing this 😊
I was exited when he took it our for a ride as if i bought and fixed it i luv these type vids keep teaching me how to fix stuff 😂😂💯
You could take the engine off the Yamaha dirt bike and put it on the warrior that would give it twice the power,i bet it could bolt up to it
Now, what would we learn on a simple carb clean? :D Great video!
Looking forward to the old YZ repair, working on an '88 125 atm.
Joe, you gotta bring Vinny along to check these quads before you buy them😅😊
Also take a piece of stainless steel tie wire and bend the end to a 90 and cut it back real short it gets those fuel/ air screw spring out easily
