This mate is a prime example of why you don’t trust a word anyone says keep up the good work and I love how you laugh at all the faults and just get on with it 😂
I dont think he trusts anything a seller would tell him, he buys bikes for a living. maybe their word could mean something, but the more they seem to think they know the more they are likely lying to you.
I'm starting to notice that the worst bikes are the ones that the seller says "I just rebuilt it and now it won't start" I feel your pain man. Your repairs are starting to build up and I'm still cheering you on, have faith and keep pushing forward young man.
After so many of these, he's either the naïvest person in the world or we're missing something.
I agree, it's in my top 3 red flags. The other two are colored spoke covers and spray paint
@@module79l28 maybe it just makes better content... an hour long whole bike teardown and error searching is more interesting (and probably better paying) than a 5 minute video of "fixed a loose wire and now it starts and rides perfectly"
@@soulseek2 - If it's just for content then it's even worse because he knows he's bought a dud and his surprised acting and his complaining about some bikes turning into money pits are faked.
That or, as I said, he's the naïvest person in the world and believes everything those sellers tell him, even though he has shown multiple times that he has the ability to distinguish between what he should buy and what he should avoid like the plague.
Do it yourselvers keep mechanics employed.
I like how you keep cool even in adversity. Your downloads are truly informative and enjoyable.
Downloads?
Yeah, that little chuckle when he discovers something bad. 🙂
@@walk4718 oh ok, never heard of that expression! Never too old to learn
It's called editing....
You only see and hear what he wants you to see and hear. Might be completely different on the other side. 🤷🏼♂️
I'm surprised that people are so desperate that they will lie about the condition of a bike just for a little bit of money, the world we live in
It's this economy. Our current "administration" (It's a regime if you ask me) has run this country right into the ground.
I like to mess with them but only when they’re liars. I’ll send them a message after a day or so and thank them because it was an easy fix like a fuse or something dumb like that lol. It really throws them off and they have to rethink if they screwed up and was wrong about the bike. I’ve had a couple of them actually want me to take the bikes back and I just laugh at them. lol
It's this economy. The Biden Regime tanked it on purpose. It's all a part of their master plan to absolutely break the middle class.
To me whats worse is its someone who watches the channel or so he says he does
You need to be surprised at how desperate people are to buy this junk. That's the problem.
"The only free cheese is in the mousetrap."
Hahaha... love that analigy
Stealing this!
Idk whats free about $1000 cheese
@@rh2501 so am i its funny
Wouldn’t sell to or buy anything from young Joseph. He needs 10 years of experience and common sense
I just bought a 1990 DT 175, the guy told me it ran, but then it wouldn't start. I stripped it down, there is no way it ran.
Good video, you are a true professional!
Its best to assume it needs a full rebuild if it doesn't run. People love to lie. The worst part is thinking their 500 dollar bike is worth 10k
Well, they all run until they dont.
Man I bought so many two strokes in the the late eighties and nineties from people that just didn’t mix the fuel right I had a little motorcycle and small engine shop miss the days 😢
The seal sucked in air and dirt and overheated and sandblasted the bearings
Wow. From no spark, to stater, to missing teeth on the sprocket, to tearing apart the entire engine. Damn!
All the red flags were there. Allegedly the seller said the engine blew up so he rebuilt the top end. Ask yourself why did the engine blow and what other damage did it cause? my guess is that it ran out of coolant and overheated, causing severe internal damage, the internal damage all points to overheating due to the lack of coolant or improper to stroke mix or the lack of. Now, do you see it?
@@USMichigunPrepper I'm going with bad crank seals leaned it out and burned it up. Cylinder and the original piston didnt show lack of cooling (at least not to the degree to cook a crank.)
@@92xlI didn't see that type of damage either. Everything looked good.
It’s all for content. He doesn’t care.
@porchonetwothreefour I know I would. If you have to dip into your UA-cam money to keep this hustle going, then you're a failure as a businessman.
He said everyone wanted it, but he saved it for you!
You must get more, selective, you’re the man with the money and the knowledge to fix it !
the
Where's the Almighty spark plug tester.😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Holy Fukashima.... when you melt down a 2 stroke and just rebuild the top end and hope it all works out! I like the show though, good trouble-shooting and teardown and diagnosis.
Joe is teaching all of us.....always check for spark before buying. If you are ever troubleshooting a spark issue, I have found the stator goes bad about 95 percent of the time versus the CDI or Coil.
Theres so many little things joe can do when he goes to buy a bike. But I know he just gets them for the content. Would be so easy to check for spark and compression test before buying. I used to have a subaru wrx wagon, and when i sold it, the buyer did a complete compression test before purchasing. He's a builds them, so it was quick, but regardless, know what you are purchasing before you purchase.
He’s not teaching anyone.. he’s not even a qualified mechanic
@@Joeyhill-wj6jswhat makes someone a qualified mechanic? Are you qualified to operate a motor vehicle? Was Einstein qualified to demonstrate equations and quantum physics? No?
You can’t hardly claim that you “rebuilt” something if you couldn’t get it to run. You just put some new parts on it and now someone else has to tear it apart and do it correctly.
😂
Ive bought a 1994 yz 125, that was fully rebuilt top and bottom end just beat up plastics for 1000$, also gotta a freshly rebuilt 1998 rm 250 for the same amount, i put a new plastic kit on it now have 2 great bikes for like 2500 all in, there are definitely good deals out there if you look hard enough
I wanna get another 125 , I have my xcr 450 but I miss that 2 stroke scream.
Joe Please clean those case halves before you reassemble. You do really good work but it kills me when you don’t clean first…
WOW you got ripped off! That bike is worth maybe $500 at MOST! The moment you said the carb was not attached said one thing which is that the seller slapped it together knowing something was REALLY messed up just to get $1,000 out of you
Don't be so hard on the lad. The premise of this channel is. I pay way to much for this junk. Then spend way to much money to fix it. So I can sell it for a loss. And waste my time.
@@kennethgray2504 ROFL 🤣🤣🤣
@@kennethgray2504 I don't believe he sets out to lose money, he just never learns that people lie when they tell him they had it running and now they don't know why. End of the day, he needs to learn instead of staying in the same ole rut he has been in. He also needs to learn how to do alot of other things that I won't go into cause it's a long list. But, he is good entertainment for those of us that know what we are doing!!!
Only positive thing on taking a loss in a money Pitt bike is UA-cam revenue should still do alright
That's just it. It's not a good buy if you have to go into your own pocket to rescue it.
@stkyfngrszmooth I totally understand that but if I bought that bike I'd been a 100 percent screwed atleast he has a buffer of UA-cam money to cover it but he usually does really good so a few losses here and there isn't a big deal
@@zeth15943 You should know better then to give 1000 dollars for a 98 125 that doesn't run. Its worth 500 tops. Doesn't matter what parts are on it
Bad bikes make for the best views. Who wants to watch an episode where he goes, "yep, just needed to clean ground and it started right up"? We want to see some bleeding knuckles and lots of swearing. 😆 🤣 😂
i love these late 90s early 2000s two stroke vids of yours
I notice that when you use the impact driver, you tend to twist it as your hitting it, and also you give it a bunch of little light taps with the hammer. All you need to do is hold that puppy with a firm grip (you do not want the handle twisting at all) and give it 1 SOLID bang with the hammer.
you are going to get your money back when you sell it, if you keep it it will a fun bike, if you sell it you know in all clear conscience the buyer is getting a good one,
on a lighter note, I have been around diesels all my life, and they start at half a revolution, (seems like) but it always tickles me when Joe will kick and kick the bikes over and I am expecting him to say, well thats not good, but instead he says " FIRED RIGHT UP" lol gets me every time.
Much appreciated that You record all of this. I cant imagine how cumbersome it is to work on mechanical stuff, getting your hands dirty and still moving the camera around and getting the framing. I know You've got that down pretty well. Just navigating a camera with dirty gloves, hands is the worst :D
There’s a good reason why the seller gave up on it! He just passed his problems on to you! If you knew up front it had no spark and a bad crank now what’s it worth?
About $395 at most
Happy Days Joe Has Posted 🔥🔥🔥
I watch all your videos and admire your work ethic.....I did much the same when I was in my 30's. The one thing that drives me nuts is when you say, "Drove it" for a dirt bike....you don't "drive a dirt bike"; you ride it.
Please get a proper mechanics hammer, a ball pin type. U get better results when using the impact driver. But love the engine rebuilds 👍
I’ve been saying that for months!!
That damn claw hammer is killing me.
Where I live there is wut they call a lemon law , if someone sells you something knowing it's messed they can get arrested for it !!!!
💪😎
Great tenacity young man, you never give up and must come to an absolute resolution. Your videos are awesome, you're like a surgeon in the small engine world, how did you learn so much at such a young age? Congrats. If you were close to WV or ever driving through I'd give you my old 81 Yamaha Maxim 550 just to see it live again.
Wow what an awesome tear down!!
I loved the video especially when you showed each damaged part.
This has me missing my late 70’s Suzuki DS 100 not much power but it was a whole lot of fun.
Shoot I had a 82 DS 80 and that thing was a rocket…lol
I know it sucks for you but i picked up a steel frame Yamaha 125 not too long ago so all the videos youve done with all these 125s really help me out with my own project. Not to mention the entertainment factor to pass the slow times during the work day. We appreciate you😅😂
Oh man thats a bummer, oh and JS no one rebuilds the top end without checking the condition of the crank/bottom end. I think he knew it was smoked but lets give him the benefit of the doubt👍
Watch out the case protector is missing
If the crank seal was leaking on the stator side, wouldn't the plug be white and not black? You said lean
Your not very old I'm wondering how you learned all of this because you are very good at this very good maby drop a line on this a few of us would love to know thank you,
Thank you for making these videos my dude! I have learned so much watching! Nice looking bike tho.
All it needs is a carb clean...😅 And stuff.
WE LOVE YOUR SHOWS BECAUSE THIS IS THE ONLY SHOWS THAT WE CAN UNDERSTAND TOGETHER AS A TEAM!
Great troubleshooting thanks for showing how
open the camera aperture to 8 or so and put it on maual focus. Thay way everything will be in focus all the time!
My assumption would be that you would replace both sprockets and the chain, my point is, at about 4 minutes I seen the master link backwards too. Good video.
So what mastermind is backwards mine is to on my yz125 2003
Love the content Joe keep up the good work, just out of curiosity is there any reason you tend to pick 125 2strokes a lot these days I know it will always depend on what's available in your area but would love to see a 250 or big bore 2stroke again
Your a great mechanic, but please get a brass hammer. It will stop the mushrooming of your tools.
You take a bike to a shop, you pay for labor. With Joe, YT pays Him for his labor..So, even with new parts, Joe isn't losing any money..plus the $ he'll get when he sells this thing. The buyer can watch the video to see it's done right.
You keep telling yourself that. Your about as smart as this channel.
@@kennethgray2504 Your here watching it... so if you think that of this channel, says a lot about your IQ.... So why do you bother tuning in?
All his vids would be doing very well with always at least 100,000 viewers, and quite a few with round 400,000 views...
Also getting parts at trade, he'd be doing quite well.. Maybe you miss the point of the channel, how do you think the channel would go if he bought 100 % running bikes? Na me either.
Has a great collection of bikes in the background too.
The fact you think 100k views is huge speaks volumes to your expectations for entertainment. There are billions who watch UA-cam so 100k is nothing. Channels like the bearded mechanic or biker stuff have viewship of up to 2.5 million per video. The fact you think a bunch of bikes in the back ground means something about he is successful speaks to you limited knowledge of business. It is clearly junk either purchased and can't be fixed or junk fixed and can't be sold because he has too much money into it and can't be recouped. Either of which is a bad cash flow decision for a business.
@@kennethgray2504 As if you have any clue how he runs his business. I'd bet his business is doing quite well, as if you go back and look through his catalog, he often finds bikes that need very little money and require mostly labor.
With the amount of views his channel gets and the frequency of uploads he is making decent money from ads alone. In his niche the CPM is decent so there is no down side to buying and fixing the occasional money pit bike. He's making decent money from views alone, let alone the money from flipping bikes. And, 100k views could very well be $300-700 (or more) in his pocket which alone would pay to fix most bikes.
Don't bet you would lose. And I would hate to see a fool lose their money. You have stated no facts only guessing.
2V, ouch! And yet you remain undaunted! Mega Kudos!
I feel like the guy discovered the problem after he tore down the top end. Then put it all back together to recoup his loss. That's why parts were loose. I have every confidence you'll put it back together tho.
Could you test the CDI on a different bike?
Great video, too bad you got took on this one. I’m impressed on your calmness and not a cross word spoken, can’t wait to see part 2
I’ve learned more on your channel in 2 weeks than I have with others for the past 5 years.
And I hope your bikes are running boggy
@@jesuswarrior6468 nah I’d need him to do a live stream step by step before I attempted to work on my own.
Seller: Hey Joe, a plug here, a oil change there.., and the bike is golden! 😅😊😂
I’m always concerned with these kind of buys. If the previous owner is the same one who rebuilt and has enough knowledge to do that but not get it started is always concerning lol
The air came out of that one fast. ❤ the autopsy vids too.
Hope the new stator is all you need. To bad it had more problems than you thought but we have confidence you will fix it. Keep up the great work and videos. ✌🏼
Great job! I've learned a lot from you. TY
The patience of Joe! Like someone said, it looks like the seal was the issue allowing all that sand to enter the crankcase and obliterate the bearings. Thanks for another interesting vid.
Excellent. Thank you.
Brilliant video Joe watching from Edinburgh Scotland UK 🇬🇧 👏 👍
1000 dollar bike usually been used like the wash cloth on the nightstand , just a thought
That guy that sold it to you, is sitting in the lazy boy chair, eating popcorn and watching you struggle. He wanted you have it Joe. That's sucks.
"Maybe he just didn't catch the crank" That's very diplomatic of you I must say. Still it made for a good video. Thanks
These are the kinds of bikes that when you show up to look at it you make your worst "who farted" face, offer him a nickel ($500) and watch him jump on it. A thousand dollars is insane for a trap like this and the seller knows it.
Joe is sucker buyerhes a toal push over
Love your videos even if though it causes my OCD to go bonkers. Must be a small engine guy thing to rebuild motors that have been rolled around in a dumpster without cleaning them properly. Keep up the great work👍👍
I'm the guy that sold this bike to him, and I had no clue about the bottom end being bad. It worked fine when I had it.
Rough starts make the best finishes. Great work
Once again the Phoenix must rise from the ashes.....🔥 how much is a frame going for these days......🔥🔥🔥❤️👍🏽💯
I’m making this comment before I start watching the video. The keyword is he said. Unfortunately, now you gotta put even more money into it. Can’t wait to see the finish. Look forward to it as usual. Great job so far. Keep the videos coming love them thank you.
Awesome video oce again you never disappoint
The chainlink lock is installed in the wrong direction.
~ First sign that it was worked on by a hack. Many more to come.
Yepla...🎉 tv time..thanks Joe
That's no good my friend. I bought 250 Lt quad-racer basket case. The crank was split into .Found that out after I put it back together, on it's first ride 😔. Sorry Joe 👍🫡
You get some great bikes joe on your channel 👍. I like the determination you have to get these running again 😉. Good on ya love it 👍 from west Yorkshire in the uk 😀.
Before watching Ching the video seems like every time you get a bike that someone has messed with that didn’t know what they were doing seems like they only make it worse then better. Thanks for the post keep my eye open for every video that comes out. Hope you had a great Father’s Day
Joe you could be right about that loose coil wire , I just bought a 2001 YZ 250 that was completely rebuilt top to bottom and wouldn't run !! I took the carb off and cleaned it and now I have a $4000 dirt bike so my point is don't overlook the small stuff
Love you're videos keepem comin
Wow, another bike Joe has to tear down and find other owners abuse damage.! Keep up the good work, Joe in spite of these setbacks. Love your videos, man!
Pretty amazing that even those bikes buyers have someplace to ride the thing. Premium price for an acre nowadays. I remember the good days in the 70's and 80's. " Freeride! "
I watch every video bc as you learn and grow so do we. Keep it up
Great video bro👍
Bummer man, but hey again a great rebuild and video. It will be a great bike again i am sure. Big up!
1000 for a super old bike is the seller high ? xD
Poor Joe at the very beginning was like can we just get an easy one that we can RIDE today? I just want to ride one - I guess rather than tearing the entire thing down.. no, no Joe.. there are NO free lunches any more.. you've bought up all the halfway not so bad bikes in your area. Oh man.. let's see how this one goes!!
Sand seems a bit suspicious Joe mate
It's a good-looking bike, now let's tear it apart. Thanks again, lots of learning moments, and diagnostics. 😭No joy riding around the property today. Squeeze in a Yamaha 250-450 in there and fly
All sellers say they have multiple offers so you’ll jump on it imo…
The seller had you from hello on this one he know darn well what the heck was going on
I like the basket cases they are more fun to watch you fix ;)
You got taken to the cleaners once again .
Now that is going to take a lot of work!
Man, you’ve had bad luck on the new acquisitions lately, Joe. This one may go down as the worst! Hang in there, brother.
Both sprockets and chain, crank seals, crank gear, crank, piston, water pump seals. get a good used stator plate and trigger
When someone tells me they "Rebuilt" and only Part of the engine.. I feel something isnt right. I would Low Ball them and if they dont take it id walk away. We plebs dont have the luxury of UA-cam and will lose a ton of money on Junk. I have to give you kudos mate, youre a far more patient and lenient bloke than I am. Id be right back at the guys house. Good on ya. Thanks for what you do, youre helping All of us with this. Cheers.
Methinks the seller screwed you over on this deal. Hang in there Joe! You will get it ripping in no time. Thanks man!
Joe I can’t say I was surprised that it was a turd. Those sweet heart deals seem far and few nowadays. Seem like inflation has hit everything.
It’s enjoyable seeing how you go about fixing these older items. Like say following from my armchair.😊😊
He buys this stuff for our entertainment and content. If he didn’t have these bikes to work on he wouldn’t have a UA-cam channel. I like watching joe fix these bombs.
You keep it up you will be the fastest tear down guy in the world lol nice work
"What do you guys think happened?" I think the seller watched the KX 125 video.
He saw u coming 😮
Man sorry about that!
I bought a 2002 yz125 for 2k that had only a clutch issue said the seller and wound up having to do a full rebuild.
26:00 it looks like he's been through all of at least where you are so far.. everything basically being 'disconnected' or loose or not even connected with a spade connector on the coil, yeah this is going to lead back to a deeper issue. Let's see how it goes, it has to be something, too bad it's not just a simple fix.
One mans junk is another mans treasure or in this case, one mans treasure is another mans junk.
