Hey John, I'm gonna give you a tip on launches that if you do them exactly like I say, you'll holeshot like a pro. Now, I can say that, because I AM a retired pro ATV racer. I was gonna mention this in your last video, but saw that teaser of Mike and Pete pulling up to drag and thought I'd wait. 1st things 1st. That little stand up and lunge forward thing you do is killing your traction. Plant your butt just back of the forward position on the seat, lean way forward. Your head should be over your bars. Your stomach might even be touching the seat and tank. Your forearms should be at about a 45 degree angle to the ground, and your elbows at a 90 degree angle to your shoulders (attack position). Depending on gearing and power of the quad, you should try to start in 2nd gear. Hold the throttle at about 4000 RPM. On "GO", stab the throttle wide open and simultaneously start releasing the clutch. Don't just dump it. The key here is to get as little wheel spin as possible. As the quad is accelerating, your butt should be slowly sliding back to gain more traction, until your arms are almost fully locked in the straight out position. If you can't get a hard enough launch, try 1st gear. Practice this technique and you'll holeshot like a pro. Good luck.
Another good tip if your motor bogs from shifting to early or if your getting more traction then expected and motor has a hard time pulling rpm is to hop up off the seat enough at the right moment to get your weight off the bike entirely but not actually hopping up.and using the pegs to push your entire body up in a quick burst while in the sitting position is usually enough to do it. It works better on a two stroke im sure tho
Glad you liked it! Wish we had more time before this trip to get the ignition right on it. It's a total different machine with the right ignition. It's a 388cc 13.8:1 4mil stroker, 2mil bore long rod motor. Big port work, .450 lift megacycle cam, custom exhaust, 43mm fcr carb, custom intake, reworked the rear suspension geometry, it's long travel front and rear. It will turn 10,750rpm and builds peak horse power at 8,500 and peak torque at 4,500. We have built faster since that one. I'm still finding little things to improve on it. "Foot and a half" 😂🤣😂🤣😂 barbie feet maybe.
LMFAO!!! I cant wait to see the next build, i really couldnt believe how far you took a stock warrior and i wish everyone got to appreciate it like i did ✊🙌
@@connergallagher1815 43hp on the dyno the Saturday before the trip. We had a ignition failure so it was down on power for the trip because we couldn't get in what we needed. Oh well was still a awesome weekend even though we were only at 43hp for the weekend.
Great vid John. I have a modded 2003 warrior with oil cooler & high comp piston, ported head, open airbox & race exhaust. Yes I have have faster quads also but It’s such a fun quad and I beat on it all the time. I just can’t fault it. Hopefully this winter it will get a stage 2 cam and decent suspension to give me a chance against the 400’s. It’s great to see some warrior content.
we need a build from you or mike i had a warrior about 7 months ago it always had problems i ended up rebuilding it to a 366cc it flew but i was always scared to rip it hard bc it seemed to break everytime but man do i miss that thing
Who is the guy use are with on the lt500 i see from time to time at the badlands park your at.mike should go into detail on what the guy has done to it.
@@StupidFastJohn mike has mentioned on one of the videos from somebodies channel that he has 11x6 atc front rims on it because thats what he likes to use. i do remember that much.iv been rewatching the videos of mikes, pete hagers, and your channel from a month ago trying to find it but i cannot. im also gona try the 11" front rim on my trx250r.
No one really gave them the chance. Modern carbs, electronics and better understanding of port geometry have really helped them. That being said Weston continually takes them to the next level and I probably would still be burnt out on them if it weren't for him.
@@duneracerweston My Raptor is a 727 with all the supporting mods. I use to own a few warriors back in the day and I could imagine it takes a lot of work to get one to that level. You definitely have the best one I have ever seen.
@@johnstamper2965 it takes more knowledge then anything. These have a lot more quirks that if you dont know about they are turds to make fast. They are very pickey on port work and exhaust and spark plugs. Theres a laundry list of things that Yamaha didnt do perfect that really limit them until you fix them. Fun bikes to build though and are super reliable even when you push them to their limits
@@StupidFastJohn yeah I tried to say that in my comments before cuz you had it on the Chinese four wheeler but I about guarantee you if you put a 15 horse Small engine shot on it it would hold it and I bet Michael sabo will freak out if he seen that nitrous bottle strapped to The back bar I believe they intimidation Factor would win the race there
Agreed. I don’t care how big the cam is or how much they ported it, it’s a 388 with an old air cooled 2 valve head. That’s stock trx450r power. I’ve never seen a warrior get close to a 450r. Fast for a warrior? Sure. I’m sure it’s torquey af and fun to ride. Warriors were always excellent at torquey trail riding and they handle pretty good. But 42 hp? I call bullshit
Listen, theres been video dyno proof with the sheets lol and its well north of 50 now, its weston from drw performance. It is the most custom built warrior engine in the world. It is not a 388, its over 400cc Custom stroker built crank, custom head, special intake and carb, custom designed web cam, special built rockers, theres so much custom cnc milled special made parts on this thing its insane. Its the only one of its kind. Custom ignition with a tuned curve, has a lockup clutch. Go look em up!
