I actually kill it on late night in my area. There's really only 3 places open, and they're all within a block of each other. They all do plenty of dasher business, and the drive thru's are usually only a couple cars. And my local taco bell keeps their lobby open all night for delivery drivers only, it's awesome. Add in a very regular $2 peak pay, and I often clear 80 bucks for a 11-2 shift.
I love fast shop & pays at night.
Usually high paying fast in & out shopping at CVS or Walgreens.
After 11pm when grocery stores close in my city.
Been sent for all kinds of weird items.
Definitely better than sitting at a drive-thru!
Sometimes in my Massachusetts market it's great. Sometimes Uber eats is much better at 1am because fees are higher
I've been paid $25 to deliver McDonald's 3 miles with UberEats, late at night, and only tipped $1.
Same, I’m in mass too and Ubereats sends me 35$ orders nonstop after midnight, I’m pretty sure it’s all the no tippers orders that have been kicking around all night and the restaurant wants to get them out before they close

I had somebody pay me $20 for a bag of Taco Bell.
I don't even think they spent the $20 at the Taco Bell.
Short distance and there was nobody at that store.

Yes, I agree with you on that! I actually got a 35 dollar offer for a Burger King order at 1:00 A.M! The local Burger King stays open to 3 A.M. That was the highlight of the night. The rest of the order were running 9 and 10 dollars. The last 30 minutes of peak pay , I received no orders!
I strictly do night shift on door dash on weekends due to my other job and needing to take care of family suring the day. When you learn your area and know the people who work at most places, you can benefit greatly from the night shift. I remember a couple weeks ago that one of my local spots were pumping out customers quickly. I only worked for 2 1/2 hours that night and made $80 and i had hardly any dashes that werent worth the drive.
The orders are so far and few between with intermittent demand. Even though there is peak pay in my area, I think it's because the shifts are undesirable as it's tough to make money when you have to travel an average of 8 miles for every ping and you have to accept high mileage offers going to places with no 24 hour stores/restaurants.
Yeah too much waiting in this one, the numbers at the end were fine but I really want $25-$30+ if I'm going to be out that late with the bar crowd

The best part about late night is the roads are empty, and getting to the customer is usually 1.5x faster. Also you pretty much know where your orders are going to come from. Then usually before a store closes, doordash pays a lot to get the no tip orders out at the end of the night.
In order, the best times are,
- Evening 5-10
- Lunch
- Late Night
- Breakfast
- Mid Day
But it all comes down to strategy!
From 1:30 PM-3:30PM,you are opening yourself up for a DISASTER because of the dismissal of schools and the messing up of GPS this causes along with the delays from constantly stopping school buses every other inch !!!
It sucks driving at that time. It’s either hit or miss but it takes longer at that time just for being stuck in the drive thru. Shop and deliver is actually better only because it’s less crowded.

I live in west, tx. Town of west mist people have heard of and we HAD $5 peak pay 24/7 yet Door Dash quit taking orders I our town by 10:30pm. My car has been I shop since Tuesday and just found out all normally $5 peak pays in the small towns around us went down to $4 sometime since last Tuesday. But waco , tx has gone to per delivery/per hour with peak pay at times.
Usually more late night orders Thur-Mon night.
I normally have Uber Eats on too.
Usually get alot of quick pick-up 7/11 orders & taco trucks.
I'm a nightowl.
So perfect hours for me.
Its been so hot here all summer.
I love late nights when its a little cooler in Texas.
Plus, you see all the late night critters too!

Late nights are hit or miss for me and only good for sure on the weekends. I try to stick to the sacred times.

I actually did my first dash last night and I also did $39 in two hours. I could had made more, but I really wanted to take it a little slow just to get use to it and learn how to do it right.
Nothing wrong with that, taking just a few days to learn the ropes will pay off. Make sure you don't accept then cancel a lot that's a mistake some new drivers make and it can lead to quick deactivation.
Always super curious about this. I dash in a University town and would love to see you do this around the college especially like midnight til four. That way I don't have to experience the pain myself to learn
Colleges and Universities are busy but the payouts are awful. Students generally do not tip well. If you can bang them out quickly with a fuel efficient mode of transport, you can make good money. Otherwise forget it.
I feel like rideshare is the game there, short rides from Pitt to the Southside and back were the money makers when I would do Uber/Lyft. Food delivery is fine but I know those students want to go out to party first, then food later. Could pick up around 12-3AM though but I wouldn't want to get pulled into Southside as mentioned in the video because it's crazy traffic/parking
@mikek1234 it is true about low tipping ! Also, it is hard enough to locate different buildings on campus during the daytime...so I can't even imagine at night. It's not worth it to me .

Being fairly new to the doordash platform I have noticed $5 peak pay, is a lot like chasing Uber's red smoke...... It looks a lot better in pixels than it does on pavement.
They only put those high ones on areas that are so congested, you can't drive or remote communities where there's no offers and they're trying to preciptate a market
I do pay by hour late at night. I once spent 45 minutes in a White Castle drive thru. Got paid almost $20 just to sit in line.
I hope you shut the car engine off all that time at least!
TRY THIS TIP. When the line at the drive through order kiosk is long, just bypass it! Go directly to the pickup window line. McDonalds, BK, etc., already have the order, so why wait in two lines? The first time I tried it, I thought it was going to be a situation where I may have to ask forgiveness, (Better to ask for forgiveness than permission, right?), but the employees didn't react at all. No problem anytime I've done this. This has been the best DoorDash hack! The time savings is incredible!
I wish this had been useful for me because every time I did this I was completely ignored by employees, I would go through the drive thru again, then be told to go over to that window. Then… finally, I would get the food. In their defense it was very busy but I think this tip really depends on where you are.

I took advantage of seeing six dollar peak pay this evening for a couple hours in Portland, Oregon. I normally dash- across the river in Vancouver Washington, but had to take advantage.
I love how McDonald’s packages their DoorDash/Uber orders. Other fast food spots don’t give a damn.
You should have done EBT to see if you would have any high pay orders.
Yea it's drive through, and hopes and prayers lol. This issue I want to mention with your comment about being closer to colleges. Since Covid a lot have significant restrictions and limited access. You could spend a lot of time chasing students down.
UberEats late night usually beats any late night peak pay with Doordash.
I noticed that too. Uber Eats has better base pay at NOC. With Fast foods, people pay less tips with DoorDash.

Late night is where I make the majority of my money with food delivery! Just have to avoid the drivethru on Fri-Sat night after the bars close lol
I won't dash over night on the weekends just because it's way too oversaturated right now, but during the week days, especially during inclement weather, it's usually a delicate sweet spot for me.
U need to know which McDonald's are faster after the the lobby is closed.
In my area only 2 out of 6 are fast.
2 are ok.
Other 2 suck.
One is on my blacklist. The other I will take it if its a good offer.

I typically decline the fast food restaurant after 11pm. The drive thru is a nightmare in Pittsburgh. Last night, I had an order at Taco Bell in Aspenwall. We waited in the drive thru for almost 30 minutes. It didn’t make sense to I assign because I would have had to wait anyway just yo get out of the drive thru line. 🤦🏾♀️
It was a $23 stacked order, so I kept it.

Where I live, the late nights are the best time and the max peak pay I’ve had is $3.00. My neighborhood is close to two 24 hour 7-11’s, McDonald’s , CVS and Walgreens. I like the shop and delivers b:c they tend to be higher paying and if you do 11 in a week, then the following week you have access to dash anytime, busy or not, you can always it Dash Now. I would say a good chunk of what I earn is from the late night hours.

I'm getting ready to start doing Uber eats on electric bike /electric trike in Daytona Beach and when I'm just out circumnavigating Daytona after 2 a.m. I'm noticing a lot of deliveries going because the pizza places stay open till 3 or 4 even during the week. Funny thing is I've been signed up ready to go got my Uber cards and everything else I've had everything ready for the last month and still have not yet gone out to do a delivery!
Hi , I do door dash with my husband to help pay bills and we love it . I am the runner and I always run into the fast food places . I find that they ignore you and many times I am waiting 10 minutes while they make the order. Do you think its faster going in the drivethru lane or me running in ? We never do drivethru because its always a long line , but I am still waiting most times inside . ty for all the great videos ! Oh its interesting to see how many places do not start your order until you get there , Dairy Queen ,mcdonalds and popeyes. Its gold when its ready and waiting .
I would love to see the offers, same area, same time for Uber Eats. I was in Portland, $4 peek pay. DD $19 the next hour UE $32. And less miles with UE.

I'm not surprised. Peak Pay isn't because they expect it to be busy. Peak Pay means enough dashers aren't scheduling themselves. And if the Peak Pay attracts more than enough dashers everyone just sits around waiting. If you were to schedule yourself to work the same shift on a night without peak pay, you'd probably be busier. The advantage to sitting around waiting, but collecting peak pay on the few orders you get is that you aren't burning gas driving around.
If you usually stay up till about 3am I don't feel like you're "staying up" just for 20/hr. So if you're not running around like a chicken with its head cut off. That's not so bad.
I hate late night early morning shift all I get is drunk kids up all night ordering from long drive thru to apartments no/low tips
I live in a smaller area, so late night isn't always good. It's a hit or miss. Lately even the evenings are not busy. The map is just gray. If it has been busy on certain days, then i've gotten a lot of bad no tippers or having me go long distance. I don't know how you keep above that 50%. I wasn't able to even maintain that.

McDonald's in my area is crazy busy until about 1am, I've done earn by time and it's paid well, and I'll switch to earn by order if I need to if they try to take me somewhere nuts

I was on my way back to my hotspot (bc where i was, was a dead spot) i got a shop and dilver order and got to the stor it was only one item for a 10.75 only .2 mines drop off. i was like what yeah ill take that and the enter trip was not far out of the way.
My days of staying up late are long gone. lol

Have a question about Doordash delivery times. Does the deliver-by time take into account the amount of time you have to drive to the pickup plus the time to the drop off and, of course, the "estimated" time in the restaurant, or can you sometimes be set up for failure? Also, can a stack put you in the position of not making it on time?
The earn by time starts the pay when you accept the order. And if they stack it dd only starts paying you for that order when you drop the first order off if both customers are close to each other and one doesn’t tip you will only get a few cents for the second delivery
I'm in richmond Va, and they don't really tip well there, but I usually go so much longer than 3 hours, more like a minimum of 5 hours. Sometimes, I would do 7 to 8 hours
I think I don't get good tips because I dash in a university city, and college students are barely getting by, so I'm not too mad about that, cuz I am also a student there and I'm barley getting by

Can you see the items for shop and deliver orders? In the accept screen? I cant do all of the shop and pay orders because i cant carry some of the stuff people order
Not on the offer screen, but you can see the list of all the items immediately after you accept the order.

The Algorithm knows to try to distribute as many orders as possible to keep everyone at or around 19.50/hr before expenses… no matter if you go out during the busy times or the late times it adjusts based on all the drivers available… which is why you also did not get another order at the end.
I wish that had been the case for me because my first night averaged out to 13/14 an hour with all the waiting I ended up doing
Not in AZ. I used to include late night. But with UE there literally a hundred $1.50-3 order's and on Doordash $2.25-4 orders, all declined.. Not worth my time at all. Anything less than $10 late night is garbage. They can risk their own DUI.

I do Earn By Time after 10pm in my area. Not a lot of places are open and the food is usually late so I’ll end up getting $8 from doordash and don’t *USUALLY* get hit with no tip orders. I make roughly $29 per hour on the late shifts doing this
Earn by time on that late shift! You get paid that peak pay as well!
Question: I'm interested in using a rental car instead of mtvown car. My concern is not having a dashcam in the rental like I do in my private car. How can I get this accomplished without the added time and money to transfer my daschcam? Is it possible?
Hi Brian, first check that you're allowed to use the rental car for business. Second there's really only a few options, transfer the dash cam (hard to do if it's hard wired), buy an inexpensive yet quality dash cam for the rental car or drive without a dash cam.

11 minutes isn't bad. I got stuck in a jack in the box drive thru for 20 minutes!

Yep! Didn't mention this but I had some guy approach my car asking for a ride to Penn Hills! I had my fair share of that working Uber and having that logo on the front
I tried very late night door dashing and uber eats in my area 11pm- 7am in morning and it was dead. Zero orders for 3 days straight.
Unfortunately for my market, the highest peak pay I see is $2, but 99% of the time it's only $1. Just not worth it when it's always after midnight when nothing is open but Taco Bell. I also never get challenges. That being said, I don't like night shift. Lunch and dinner up to about 8:30-9pm. Once everything starts closing, there are very few places left open in my market, which means repeated 30 minute waits in the Taco Bell drive through.
Are you still able to make a decent hourly average? I’m debating on just trying to dash while the peak is low to save myself from the horrible night I just had. What I’m thinking is that the time I spent waiting for employees to acknowledge me might be spent waiting in traffic though.
@@TinaLeguina I average $18-20 an hour give or take, I am a platinum dasher so I get a ton of large orders over $20. Just had a $55 catering order last week, and a $34 one the next day. In my market, even with peak pay, anything after say 10:30pm to about 6am is dead, even with the peak pay I'd never come close to what I make lunch and dinner. I've heard the breakfast shift is good in my market, but I don't want to wake up at 6am every day lol...

I don't see how you can dash in Pittsburgh. I live in Pennsylvania as well and minimum wage here is 7.25. Yeah a lot of places have increased pay but a lot haven't. I am fortunate enough that I live on the border of New York and Pennsylvania so I just hop the border and dash in New York State. Minimum wage is what 15 or 16. Most places pay 18 to 20 so people I deliver too make a good check
Why do late night if you can make the same doing coffee and some shopping in the AM.
I’m a new dasher, only dash for one weekend and they deactivated me. They said I was a top dasher right now but why deactivated me and give me a hard time. I checked my account last night and it let me in and now today it won’t let me in my account. I sent an appeal already and now there asking me to send another one. Has anyone gone through this ? Need help
Not worth it in my opinion unless that’s the only time you can dash then you have that option for me the dinner rush is way better even without peek pay some say also early morning but I haven’t tried that one yet but it makes sense
What a nightmare! The McDonalds in my area are open 24 hours and they leave their side door open for us drivers and still place orders in the pick up area.
You’re so lucky! Uber eats doesn’t pay me when a store is closed or out of stuff anymore because McDonald’s cancelled so many times. And now the McDonald’s by me don’t even do overnight orders.
I feel like they don't want anyone coming in late at night for safety reasons. Would be nice though for drivers

I think the better question to ask is are you Dashing for regular income or for pocket money? $40 for 2 hours isn't bad for pocket money, but could you make a living at that rate?

I'm in central NJ and I never see that much per order for a short delivery. It's always like $14 for 13.8 mi. Or $11 for 10.2 mi. Never worth it

This is why I never take orders at Wendy’s in my area. Always a skeleton crew of 2 people working there and inside never open. Horrible dashing experience.
The Wendy's here in Bloomfield/Shadyside is a nightmare at night. Backed up to the road. Don't think I'd take that unless it's $30+/hr
@@YourDriverMike unfortunately the Wendy’s here is that way 24/7. Drives me nuts and I just ignore everything from there. Unless I happen to be in front of it can visibly see no cars in the drive thru & obviously the $/mile makes sense

He just got reinstated recently, I think he has to do 100 deliveries this month before he gets it.
Correct I just got reactivated so they gave me priority access until Oct 3. I'll dash a bit without it to test then push up my AR to test priority access again with the higher AR requirements.
