    They need to pay more than $2.50 per order. This is not cherry picking by rejecting them. It’s common sense that you are paying to work for Doordash if you are accepting this crap. Cherry picking my a**

    • @YourDriverMike
      @YourDriverMike  11 місяців тому +5

      Definitely common sense to decline anything below $5. $5 is even weak, my minimum for drivers is $6-$7 keeping within $1.75/mile

      Hell I’m seeing base pay at 2.00 on some of my orders now. If it was $7 I wouldn’t even care about the tip honestly, every delivery would probably be worth it, assuming it’s not 10 miles away

    • @YourDriverMike
      @YourDriverMike  11 місяців тому +6

      Unfortunately I know it comes down to brutal numbers. Companies wanting to pay as little as possible yet have drivers still take the orders, that's why base pay increases only based on "dasher desirability" so as a last resort when no one takes the awful payouts only then will DD increase the base pay. It's a built in system for the company to gauge the tipping point in essence

    Most DD drivers don't understand how bad it is atm. It's just not about the gas prices. I drive a Hyundai Ioniq, the most fuel efficient car in America. I can't make a reasonable profit. The amount of constant orders with high miles destroys your car and profit margin. Too many miles, no extra money to fix the car, not enough after expenses.
    Being your own boss is great, but you're really not progressing your life forward. Which is vastly different than owning your own business.

    I went on a 3 week vacation and when I returned (N. Charleston SC) I noticed it's harder to schedule my time the same day. What use to be busy times during lunch have pretty much gone away. Also, the offers have been very low and fewer and farther apart. It's very hard to keep my acceptance rate above 50%.

    I've been dashing near Detroit for about 4 months now. When I started, I had just moved to the area and knew nothing. I have kept up top Dasher every month, keep up a 70-80% acceptance, and have been making $25+/hr consistently for awhile, based on my dash time, not my active time. You have to be smarter about what you accept than simply saying "I'm only doing X per mile".... I'm excited to see if Doordash can bump up my pay scale even more with this new program ^.^

  • @reaganharris3855

    I recently hit top dasher and maintained it for a week. It felt like for 3-4 days I got high paying orders and then they started sending $2-3 orders over and over. Lost my top dasher. And now I’m down to 32% acceptance.
    Their system is a joke. The only way you’re going to incentivize me to get a 70% acceptance rate is if you give bonus base pay to your top dashers. $1-2 extra per order would be plenty to help maintain it.
    $4 vs $2 is a big difference in the long term.

    • @tastefullys
      @tastefullys 11 місяців тому +2

      Exactly. I hover between 50-55% acceptance and was wondering if I should put for 70% wish seems almost impossible with the amount of slow restaurants and bad tippers around me

    They don't always necessarily give orders to the closest driver. They want to minimize wait times. So if there's a dasher that's 5 minutes away but they will have to wait 20 minutes, probably won't get it if there's another dasher that has to drive a little ways to get to restaurant but won't have to wait as long once they arrive. I can't tell you the amount of orders I've gotten that I've been nowhere near the restaurant when I've been assigned them.

    I received a double order tonight at 2:30AM for Taco Bell that was 12.5 miles away. I knew the restaurant closed at 2am. I called support and they told me, even though the store was closed I would have to drive all those miles to prove it was closed and then only get $8 for my troubles. So 25 miles round trip to say store closed. Hell with that. I canceled the orders and ended my dash instead.

    I still think "high priority" offers are BS on Doordash's part. Their ultimate goal is to get food delivered to the customer as quickly as possible. It doesn't make sense to give a order to someone who is 5 miles away just because they "priority" access when there is someone who is closer to the restaurant and customer.

    • @YourDriverMike
      @YourDriverMike  11 місяців тому +1

      That's what I'm thinking, so what's going to give - priority Gold/Platinum Dashers or a faster delivery time for the customer (increased satisfaction). Maybe a midpoint where the customer won't notice a 1-5 minute change.

    • @dblaze9757

    • @andylol0112
      @andylol0112 11 місяців тому +1

      I think the high priority can be explained as if there are more than one dashers in queue (assume near the same restaurant/ hot spot) , which dasher can get a "better pay" order depends on the miles and the pay. Adding this pre-condition will make more sense I guess

      @YourDriverMike just wait. When I got this algorithm, I was under 30% I decline all the way to zero. Every single order was 5 dollars or less. Worst of the worst orders you can imagine. I spent 5 days getting to 70% and it was torture. I made 180 for friday,sat,Sunday combined. This algorithm is working as they intended diamond to work. No more cherry picking unless you wanna choose which no tip order you should take lmao. This hurts multi appers as well, since you can't decline into oblivion. Seriously, below 50% and it's all no tip offers.

  • @gearsofwar3xXx

      Agreed it's kind of bullying out cherry pickers which you're allowed to do by the way as an IC. You can't manipulate the system in any way but you can certainly make business decisions and decline as much as you'd like. But if Silver, Gold and Platinum have higher priority than you I'm wondering how this will affect earnings BUT again as mentioned how many really want to go for 50-70% AR

  • @tlsmith1443
    @tlsmith1443 11 місяців тому +1

    I'm getting tired of DD lowering the base pay because the customer pays a larger tip. I get higher paying orders with high miles per trip but when I complete the order (say on a order that is 9 miles) I see that DD only paid me a $2 base pay because the customer paid a $18 tip. That is DD telling me that a 9 mile order was only worth $2. Its total BS. We should get compensated according to the distance. I have as of tonight 5998 historical deliveries.

      Totally agree 💯
      I was 73% AR the other day and up to 80% AR, after taking 15 out of 16 orders, all were worth it, the one I rejected was also worth it but cancelled it because it was gonna be my last dash but realized it was going a few miles opposite of my home. I make more now with a high AR then I ever did cherry picking. Its been rather easy to maintain my high AR as I just do not dash if map is grey and only dash lunch and dinner shifts. Since I’ve been doing mostly Earn by Time in a relatively good market, they dont always just give me the garbage no tip fast food orders…. They do still send me some decent tipping orders. Add the EBT dash base, and those orders quickly turn into 10-15$ dollars. Overall, I’ve seen where it all evens out at the end of the week. HOWEVER, in my Earn by Time experience, they absolutely will give you the long distance orders that everyone doing Earn by Order is turning down

    I would be platinum. I'm at that level right now. I would drive 5 min for large paying order pickups. The pay by hour plus tips is great for being able to make those metrics. I'm not sure if they can implement the acceptable requirement in California and tie that into scheduling because "A dasher cannot be deactivated for low acceptance rate". However, In a saturated market and you MUST have early access to get a schedule, Therefore technically DD is "deactivating" people for acceptance rate by making it impossible to Dash because you can't get scheduled.

    I’m a td in my zone, I’m fairly new, I just broke 1000 deliveries. Took me 4 mos. I run 4.9+ rating, 100 acceptance, 100, completion, 96%on time. I dash 15-25 hrs active time per week. I have met another dasher that has 5k dashes and does the same as me. In my area there is a heavy no tip no drive culture. Which I don’t understand. I’ve actually been kicked out and blocked from my local fb group. I look at it like this, if I’m taking time out of my week to work(I work weekends) making sure I look professional, clean cut w dasher shirt, washing my car, gassing up, clean interior. Using gas to drive to zones. Waiting and driving from zone to zone, I’m taking every thing that breathes. I hear dashers say i turned down every order on a Saturday night. I’m like wtf why even go to work, but anyway. Last week I worked Sunday 10am-12pm, multi ap and made 400 in one day. I feel like other drivers lose sight of prop 22 I always get 100+ adjustments on Monday. I’ve been wondering why lately I’m more busy as the weeks go by. We’ll that’s been my experience.

    To be honest, this reward program does not affect me too much. I am delivering around Los Angeles, and my stat is at the platinum level with a 88% acceptance rate and a 100% completion rate. Among those 88% accepted orders, low-paying orders take about 30% and are decreasing. Every time I declined an order and I always submitted the reason as "the order is too small" when the app asked me. After repeatedly declining the small orders and submitting the same reason, most of the orders I got now are over $9, so I am not sure if the algorithm is smart enough to catch it (or maybe not). DoorDash never asked me to drive further for a high-pay order (mostly within 1 mile only), but I am getting higher pay orders in my area 50 - 60% of the time (like $12 for a mile drive or $21 for 5 miles drive).

    Since the paid-per-hour program started in my market, my AR has skyrocketed from ~5-15% and as of today I actually hit 70% 🤯. In 3 years of dashing it's never been above 20%!
    Anyway, some things I've noticed:
    1) higher paying order priority does not seem to apply when on a pph dash, only paid per order. At least if it is prioritized, I've seen no indication in-app
    2) I have no earthly idea how DD defines "high-paying" orders. Since I reached 50% AR on June 6th I've received some decent payouts on guaranteed offers with higher than average base pay (usually shop & deliver tbh) as well as some with pretty nice tips, but it hasn't been consistent: more often get tossed $3.50 no-tip orders proudly displayingg the banner reminding me about how lucky I am to be graced with this super-generous payout and encouraging me to take more crappy-paying orders because if I keep raising my AR to 70%, I can expect even more of the same 😅 Yay!
    3) when on a ppo dash, I no longer receive offers whose "total may be higher"; tips are always included in guaranteed amounts. However tips ARE hidden now on PPH orders (if they are added at all), so those totals may (rarely) be higher instead.
    It should be interesting to see how 70% AR priority plays into the mix! Thanks to you and your channel, I've been religiously tracking all kinds of data and payout details since I first signed up to dash, and using said data, I'm fairly confident I'll be able to continue to profit despite DD's best efforts to the contrary. I always learn something from your streams, and I truly appreciate all off the inspiration and guidance you provide the gig community. Keep up the great work! 😊
