⚡This is after an increase in Earn By Time standard pay in some markets, see more here: ua-cam.com/video/0eCrxav9fas/v-deo.html
The audacity of people to order out because they don't wanna get out in the cold, and then not tip anything, astounds me.
I've had people who don't own vehicles or drive do the same. If its in a more 'lower income' area of town I automatically don't think there's a tip.
Especially when it’s raining it’s like come on at least throw me two bucks
I was soak and wet from rain one time no tip
Tipping is just ridiculous to me. DoorDash charges 5 billion dollars to start with, they should just give drivers a bigger share.
I do earn by time slow days and earn per offer most busy days . It works better for me. Thanks for the videos. I’ve leaned alot
Thanks for watching!
I've been doing a lot of EBT recently and found system that works for me. Take your EBT hourly rate and divide by 60 to figure out your per minute rate. Then divide what your ideal dollar per mile to figure out how many minutes per mile it would take you to earn your desired per mile rate.
Ex. Your hourly was $19 and you want a minimum of $1.20 per mile. Doing the math that's roughly $0.32 per minute which when you take your minimum divided by the per minute rate means you should shoot for each mile taking you 3mins 45secs. So if you get an offer for 10 miles, figure it to take you roughly 37.5 minutes to complete in order to hit your desired per mile quota.
Earn my time is just the way that doordash is trying to convince you to take no tip and low tip orders
If the hourly guarantee is let's say $22/active hour wouldn't that be a pretty good argument though? Still a bit concerned about mileage bc of the AR requirement but what do you think?
Is the hourly guarantee higher for top dashers or those eligible for High paying orders? Most I have seen is $14-$15 per hour in the Portland OR/SW Washington areas. 10% acceptance rate over here. All my other ratings and such or very high
I have not had success with by the hour, because it only counts when you accept an order until you deliver it. It would be helpful if you could switch if the order is taking you 23 miles out of your zone. Which is what I experience out here in the country. But you can’t switch per order, so you are screwed if you accept one that suddenly requires a 10 minute drive.
I also have ran into waiting for order for 15 to 20 minutes.
I’ve been playing around with hourly and comparing it with the pay by order and the hourly comes out better every time and it also cuts out you’re shop and deliver orders if you don’t want those that’s great if you do then you don’t want hourly! And just a little hint there are some massive payout catering and large orders on hourly I’ve hit several over the $40 mark and 2 that were over $100
Out dashing right now in Lansing MI. Dashin in single digit degrees this week! 🥶❄ But gotta get that hustle in 😎 I like to watch these videos in between runs for motivation.
I appreciate you watching and glad I can help motivate!
In my area, when you do earned by hour you almost always end up out of the zone. I wish Door Dash would correct zoning issues. Plus, you get all of the 0 tip orders 😢
That’s my case as well but the pay is usually decent
100% agree with you on the cash tips I'm in New Jersey so some appreciation in this cold is always a good thing
Tips are always nice but they really have to plan, 'okay I'm going to physically give this courier some cash' and it just makes you feel appreciated 😄
@@YourDriverMike exactly 😅
1:14 yes you do want longer orders, there is an optimal amount of time that negates the non tippers and maximizes money made, it might be around 40 minutes per order at 16 per hour and higher
See that's what I was thinking, crazy traffic? No problem. Long waits? I'll get comfy and wait. You're getting paid, especially if it's $20+/hr with hourly peak pay that's not bad.
@@YourDriverMike i have been doing this strat since about April of 2023, it just seems that every order I get takes at at least 10 minutes past the pickup time, and I make 13 to 20 bucks on every order, BUT my on time rating has went from 78 to 70 since
I live in a city split in two by a river. The drive from the north side to the south side is about 12 minutes or so and both the residences and dining are spread evenly through it. It isn't a very big city (Pop. 25.5K) so the orders aren't very consistent but there are generally enough to keep me busy 80% of the time. The distance between many of these orders and time it takes me to move from location to location almost always ends up making hourly pay worth it- even at only $10.00/hr.
Bear in mind that I do this as a side gig and I live in a place where the cost of living is very low, so it's viable for me and worth my time. Interesting to see how people from different areas value different amounts though.
We don't have earn by time in Los Angeles yet, which kind of makes sense since California Prop 22 is essentially the same with 1.2 times the $17 minimum wage per active hour (and 34 cents for each active mile driven, which would make earn by time much more powerful). In a slow January, those extra bucks have been very helpful so maybe earn by time is mainly useful during slow hours? Also if your go-to starting point is near a lot of slow restaurants, shout out to McDonalds Taco Bell and Chick-Fil-A, earn by time does help soften those wait times.
We just got earn by me in Philly. I tend to use it in the morning and post lunch. Of course, it all depends on how crazy the distance gets.
Tipping should be required on DoorDash. At minimum $2-$3.
At the end of your dash you can change the session back to Earn by offer. In fact it asks if you want to.
I’m totally new at this. I’ve only been doing it for 3 days. I did the pay by hour and really felt like I may have earned more for part of the day but it took me wayyyy out of my zone and sent me to some pretty shady areas. What app did you say that you use to track your mileage and such?
In my market, it's only $12/hour. If it was $17, I'd do it more often. I tried it last night and had three straight deliveries with no tip. Trying to raise my AR isn't worth the bad offers I get. I'm fine with hovering around 45-55% if that means I don't put miles on my car and knowing my actual earnings.
So when I was driving by time I was making 16hr a week. When I was getting payed bonus pays It looked good. By the end of the week it didn't give adjustment pay and was 16 an hour for two weeks. Renting a car killed me. Now I switched to driving by job and I'm pulling off over 20 an hour. I will do it for another week before I figure out the pay.
5:38 I use ebt after 10pm if I’m dashing that late, I’ve tried ebt and ebo in the middle of the day on a normal Wednesday and the ebt was slightly lower than the ebo I did next week, I think each one is fine but I would personally suggest using ebt between rush hour and after 10pm
How do you keep the stats for top dasher/cantering if you only do per orderr?? If i do a month of per offer my acceptance % is arpund 20 to 30%..
.... a reply on this would be cool and appreciated....
We don't have earn by time as an option. We did for a bit last summer but they said it was a 'pilot project' for this area. I think the earn by time is just for people to take the crappy orders with no/low tips and hopefully offset that by the time it takes.
I earn by time when the weather is really bad. You're going to take more time between deliveries because of the weather. I also earn by time when I'm in an area I don't really know. As I am looking for restaurants or the houses outside my normal zone and it takes a little additional time.
I use earn by time when I want to boost my AR. For me top dasher is gone so I will use earn by time in order to reach platinum dasher.
i made 112 for a 5 hour shift. 3.44 active hours. i usually hop on it during rush hour into late night.
Earn by hour if tips are low, and places are slow and you need to bump the AR up.
Typically, I only use dash by time if I want to boost my acceptance rate and not worry about slow orders while doing it. I only DoorDash, because I have a separate source of income, so I always make sure I end the month a Top Dasher.
Yes you want longer wait I got $22 for my first order today
Mike ! I only make $9 an hour in Jacksonville, FL and I cannot even schedule for 8 hours a day ! What to do, please !
Hey I feel you. Jax has not been a good market recently 😢 I’m stuck at around $8-$11/hr. I would just stay home but have no choice but to keep trying as I’m a college student trying to make ends meet with a busy schedule.
Damn I live in orlando it's $12.50 hr and on peak times it's 17.50
Jax is the worst market across the board. Uber and Lyft do this thing at the airport to rotate the queue where they don't give you any ride details and make you take their low-ball garbage or get bumped in the queue. For Jax that means you could be on a 20 dollar ride out of the airport for 2 hours of traffic to Jax Beach because you took a sight unseen offer.
I live in Cushing Oklahoma and have to drive 45 minutes to Sapulpa. While I get consistent orders, my pay per order only averages about $10 an hour
Earn by time is good if you want/need to raise your AR. So many no tip orders
I'll never see $19/hr in my market.
Mike, i have yet to try earn per hour Im in Monroeville area and its stupid busy over here so im almost nervous to not use earn per offer. Do you have any experience out this way i see you mainly stay downtown in our fair city.
Mainly downtown but that Miracle Mile would be my main hub if I was out there. That and the mall area
Earn by time in Texas is only $12 / hour. In my experience, Earn Per Offer is better (around 19-28$ per hour + more tips)
Minimum wage is Texas is federal level (7.25/hour). Just got hired at a mall for $10/hour
Earn by offer for me is in another city that pay more. That's crazy vs where I'm at it's a dollar. Earn by time i have been getting 3 to 5 dollar tips. I'm still new and just trying to figure out what is best. Im from Columbia sc.
I got a $5 cash tip last week and I cant remember the last time before that, prolly over a year
Fr. Last week I got 20 bucks cash cuz it was cold as heck
My typical earn by time is better because people are cheap in my area, unless you have the 70% AR rate.
Ive learned to take my time and drive very very carefully and slower. Lol
I would absolutely be willing to give earn by time a chance if it were $19/hour+ but in my market it's currently $10.50 per hour. not a chance
I just started doing doordash in arkansas its a poor state and i.tried this for a 1 order it gives me 11 per hour so lame
So, if the pay is $19/active hour and it takes 1 hour to complete the delivery process, do you get $19 for that delivery?
19 plus whatever you’re tipped
Did you check your star rating. Pay by the hour is almost a guaranteed way of lowering it.
Mines 4.95, I almost exclusively do earn by time as my area isn't the most populated, in Hickory NC
Ive never got a single catering order. Do i need to buy catering bags?
Yes but check with support in Tn you have to get invited for the catering
If the guaranteed hourly isnt at least $25....forget it!
Think the highest I've seen is $22, maybe $24 per active hour
Did $28 per hour today and made $64 off of 2 single item orders
Seattle just dropped $26.40 base pay. I’m curious how that’ll go.
Bwahahahhahaa
You can't work two hours and then just assume things. You gotta work a few full 8 hour shifts to see. 2 hours doesn't prove anything
This^^ our hourly is 15/hr in my market, I dashed 2:45 total time 2:15 active and made 89.94.
Definitely market dependent I tend to make more cash flow on EBT over EBO but the mileage is a tad bit higher too
I wanna try the pay by time I feel like I would make alot since I’m driving like vin diesel all the time 😂
I always hear drivers say on earn by time you're only getting paid when you on a delivery. Well, guess what.... you're only getting paid on earn by order when you're on a delivery, too! Makes no sense to say that.
Pick up order make it last a hour and do 1 hour for order
I get cash tips at least once a month
earn by time is better for my location, also I do 8-10 hour shifts lol
Wow! 13.25 by me
Only i do this late nights
My market says 12.50 per hour! Might as well drive my truck right into a lake, that would be quicker
People who don't tip at least the gallon of gas it takes to drive to a location, well there is a special circle in hell for them.
The earn by time here is just $13 if there isn't any peak pay.
Thanks for sharing, $16.50 or $17 in downtown Pittsburgh then around $15 in surrounding suburbs here
@@YourDriverMike I wonder if they take cost of living into consideration when setting those because even though our two cities have close to the same population I'm guessing it costs more to live there than here.
😂 19$ per hour driving with your own car 😅
Earn by offer if it’s busy
Lmao i tried earn by time and got my first offer and it was 19 miles and i did it it took an hour and sum change but 0 tip so i made a whopping 13 dollars
I'll answer the question before finishing the video ....HELL NAWL sorry about the vulgarity but it angers me at $12.25hr in my market 🤮
It's not worth it. Only 13-14 dollars in my market. By offer I'll make at least 14/hr on the whole dash.
You're area pays way more per hour
Earn by Hour : pick up order 9 min late , drop off order 9 min late. I'm fine with no tip since that's what it was going to be anyway
And you still get paid your same pay rate in a different zone so don’t ckock out
Y’all city dashes are spoiled to be honest I just started and noticed
Doordash is a joke
