@@hawkeye1776 Sure. The reason we conserve anything or act environmentally at all should be for the human race. That's how environmentalism and conservation worked in the past. Many now feel we should put the health of the planet above the desires and needs of humanity. Without humanity earth is just an endless slaughterhouse where all animals live in constant fear of being torn apart and eaten alive... until they actually are. That last part is an observation of my own. Whether religious or secular, if the needs of humanity aren't the highest goal we will go to a very dark place. Feel free to disagree.
There are no words for how happy it makes me to see Dr. Peterson spending the day and having dinner with Spencer Klavan, having a feast of reason and flow of soul, and letting us in on it. I watched the series over the weekend and “my cup runneth over.”

Since listening to the Genesis lecture series at least five years ago. Your telling of Cain and Abel has stuck with me. I see this battle playing out in our day to day lives. I notice that there is a growing # of people that speak one language, that of guile, hate, gossip etc. and those who speak a language of positivity, growth, and forgiveness. Even refraining from corrosive engagements with toxic people, shines a light into their darkness and they will hate you for it and do everything they can to get rid of you.

I don't believe people suffer because they bite off more than they can chew, but rather because they bite too little, and sometimes refuse to take their seat at the table at all.
I think when most people talk about the suffering of children they are talking about as a result of disease.
At the end of the day though the entire concept of God, as we understand it, is founded on the idea of Free Will. Im always incredibly dubious of people who seem sincere in the questioning of God but NEVER tackle that question! Its THE most important question!
Any God capable of inventing the genetic code and the somplest cell with thousands of unique parts dancing together, cannot be grasped by humans.

Historical understanding is important, but meaningless in itself. It only makes sense beyond the individual if it leads to proposals for how we can solve society's challenges today. Personally, I believe that such solutions must be based on the desire that changes do not require violent destruction and the goal is much greater personal freedom where the individual takes responsibility for the outcome.
Without humanity, Earth is just a self-sustaining zoo with no sentient visitors. Unknown and soulless.

THAT is how much value we have for we are created in the image of God. God put on human flesh, and placed His own wrath upon Himself (that we deserved because the wages of sin is death), so the price could be paid by Jesus unblemished sacrifice/the sin debt we owe God is now paid in full, so that we could be forgiven, and set free from bondage to sin by Jesus shed blood on the cross. If God places such value on us, shouldn't we treat each other better?
