In this video, i am showing the steps and items necessary to do the internal fuel pump relay bypass. I take no credit for this procedures, these were taken from UA-cam channel: Earthling Art. Here is the video link,

A friend of mine had taken her navigator to a couple of different mechanics and they couldn't figure out the problem. The last one swapped out the fuel pump, and it was still stalling and not starting at random intervals. She told them it had to be the fuel pump relay. They blew her off. One said they swapped it out for a good one and it was still having problems. She is handicapped and on a tight budget, so the $1200 she had already spent was pretty much all she could budget. I told, and showed her that the fuel pump relay is nonservice-able and that they were not fixing the actual problem. She asked me to do the work. I followed your advice and it solved the problem. Thank you for this video!! One VERY important thing that I want to stress to anyone doing this fix: It bypasses the RPM control!! I HIGHLY advise putting in an inertia switch between the power applied from the key function. If you do not, and there is a collision or rollover, the pump will continue to pump gasoline, and create a hazardous condition. The inertia switches are inexpensive, and it is an easy modification/safety measure.
Thanks for key pointer, regarding the inertia switch.
@@EliTheOBDTech You are welcome! I really appreciated your video. It didn't even cross my mind about the inertia switch until I looked at the wiring diagram and saw that this system uses the main computer's input regarding the engine RPMs. When the engine stops, the computer tells the fuel pump to stop. Decided to go old school and just put an inline inertia switch works great! I appreciate you! Your video saved this lady a lot more time and money at the shops. I didn't charge her to do the bypass either. Just trying to make the world a better place where I can.
Your video has helped me and my wife with our 2004 Ford Expedition, I went to auto zone and bought everything you had in the video, and had it running in less than an hour, thank you, now I will wait and see if my check engine light low fuel pump voltage light goes away, thanks again!
I'm glad to see that it helped.
Good video
I only put the fuse on the Blue cable to the green Cable
Thank you friend! I was ready to throw my Lincoln away. But I have a spare relay in the basement and you have given me the courage. I appreciate it very much. This thing sat all winter in Montana because it was too cold to try anything. And you don’t take your Lincoln to just anyone in rural Montana. Now the weather is nice and I can do this.
I'm glad this helped.
@@EliTheOBDTech Hi again! I went to install this relay in my 2006 Navigator and the blue outlined wire bundle you showed has a green wire in mine where your’s is blue. My wires in that blue outlined bundle are green/yellow, brown with white stripe, solid yellow, and solid green. I have been tested for colorblindness and I am sure it is green instead of blue. Any ideas as to how I should proceed? Thanks in advance!
@@sheltermutts4185 As long as you follow the pin numbers on the relay as I described, you should be good.
@@EliTheOBDTech Wow! You are fast and much appreciated. I voltmeter checked the green wire and it is +12 with key, but not fused to #34 like your blue wire was so I guess I won’t know what fuse it goes to. Waiting for some quick connects to arrive before I tap into anything. I am very grateful once again for your kind assistance. You are a rock star!
@@sheltermutts4185 If you keep having questions, don't hesitate.
Thank you for the video was very easy to understand my expedition is running again thanks to you!!
You're welcome! Glad it helped!
Bro !!!! You came in clutch with this video 👍👍 🙏
You just save me alot of money. Thank you
Clear as mud
So I followed your exact set up and I was curious let's say I wanted to hook up a kill switch which one would I tap into far as colors if I did the exact same setup as you
You can tap into either the black or blue wire. Preferably, the blue wire, which is a fused power feed.
I can't figure out where BA connected the black wire exactly
Question the part wen u put replay into compartment were it originally meets battery power it just works after that
Yes, wires 30 and 87 will provide power and ground when connected back into the power distribution box
I performed this bypass mod and the relay will open at random times causing the vehicle to stop running. If I change the relay to a new one, it will run until some random time and open. I replaced the fuel pump and it still does thr same thing
You might have a weak connection on one of wires that intermittently stops having continuity. Recheck all your connections.
So this method bypasses the inertia switch? Would the better method be to find a wire that provides power for a short time and then grounds out after 2 seconds?
I would need to look into the circuit to see if it does.
Yes, that would be a better solution
@@EliTheOBDTech Ok thanks.. Now to find that wire lol.. Your video has helped a lot!
Where does the red wire go and can the white wire go to bleep white wire and the black wire be used to ground
Red doesn't connect to anything. It's recommended to keep wire the way I show on the video. Black connects to the blue with green stripe wire.
Do I need to connect the relay connecter to the box
It needs to be externally connected. You will be bypassing the internal relay.
Is this a temporary or long-term fix?
It can be long term, but you have the choice to go back to original set up by replacing the power distribution box.
Is there any concern if i made it as a long term bypass?
I bypassed my car's main relay too, works well with engine light on, no other issue. Without the relay bypass, it wont start
I just did this last night to my 2003 Ford expedition ,it worked but my theft light stays on and now my battery is dead.has this happened to you before?
No. As long as you tap into the correct wires, it shouldn't drain your battery.
@@EliTheOBDTech what do u do with the red and black wires
@@kalebclifton6201 Red wire is not used in this application and black wire spliced with blue/green stripe wire.
I unplugged the wires from the fuse box, but I don't have any voltage at the blue wire, or any of the wires? With the wires unplugged, remote door locks won't work. Is that normal?
I have you checked for a blown fuse?
@@EliTheOBDTech they put new fuses in at 12, 32, 33, and 34, test light shows that they are good. Remote door locks work when the plug you show is plugged in, but they quit working when I unplug it .
@@robertmoyer2311 The plug needs to go back into the power distribution box once you splice in the blue wire.
@@EliTheOBDTech thanks, I haven't spliced a relay plug into the plug yet, as I was trying to get battery voltage at the blue wire. They had already disconnected the battery, so no codes to be read, but code reader test of system shows issue with the fuel pump.
@@robertmoyer2311 what is your year make and model of your vehicle, I will look into the wiring diagram to give you a better answer.
Is the same on a 06 navigator?
If the 06 has the internal fuel pump relay, then yes.
@@EliTheOBDTech cool thank you!
I have the same problem with a 2001 lincoln navigator can you do the same thing for a 2001
Not sure if the first generation from 98-02 have the same setup as the second generation from 03-06.
You would need to see if your fuel pump relay is internal or external on the power distribution box.
@@EliTheOBDTech it's external
To be honest, I'm not sure if it's possible. I would have to look at wiring diagram.
@Eli TheOBDTech I basically changed everything already on the Lincoln I know I have to change the egr system but im still having problems turning on it hesitation rough idle and sometimes it doesn't turn on
I did this but my pump wont go off😢
This set up is made to make the fuel pump run at all times with key on engine off and with vehicle on. It should be off with the key on the accessory position. Not sure what went wrong with your setup.
I have a question does this set up get rid of the fuel pump voltage code
To be honest, I never checked for codes, just for the fact that the check engine light was off. Even with a faulty fuel pump relay. No guarantee, but I think it will.
Where does red wire go
Red wire is not used, just cap it off

My car has a p0335 and I wanted to know what is the name of the scope u use ?
I use several scopes, I currently use a 1 channel scope called Uscope, 4 channel scope called OTC/Matco Solarity, 2 channel Injectronic CJ4, 2 channel Snapon Verus Pro and 4 channel Autel MP408

I thought pin 85 was common ground
It all depends how to use 85 and 86 pins. Can be used for both, + or -
